piet is "nearly normal." ....so my guess he would be a great dog for someone. ( contaCT LYNN-- NOT ME)
THE CALENDAR IS getting some serious work. goal is print before dog fest.
i wish everyone would have a go at the simple mendel's square...it is a very simplified version of inheridence... but it does get the concept across...
for those who slept thru highschool biology....basically every cell in the. human --- or. dog--- has 2 parts--- with the exception of the eggs or sperm which only have one.. so when you put egg and sperm together you are back to having 2.... the example most used is.... girls have xx cells and boys have xy cells
with danes --b blue danes and B Black danes.. blue is recessive. a dog with a black gene and a blue gene, will look black. ------ one parent could. be bb. AND LOOK BLUE--- the other parent could be Bb. and look black-- but is carrying the blue gene hidden...sooooo if both parents look blue.... you will only get blue pups. - if one is "black out of blue bloodlines"...... Bb.... you will get one or two blue pups and some black looking pups carrying the blue gene..
the only way. i know to find out what you have is to breed 2 black looking pups--- you might get all black pups in which case you still. don;t know.anything...... but if you get even one blue pup.... then both parents have to be Bb.....carrying the blue gene...
we once had a litter with an outcross female which produced some odd colors---12 of them ... born at her house south of boston... we took 6 and she kept 6
and i do not see them on our master list.. how odd.... or the tree.... i remember we did make service dogs of them- at least some...
we found the suit !1
