LIFE IS GETTING SERIOUS AROUND HERE--- THE "YEARLINGS" ARE BEGINNING TO LOOK LIKE REAL DOGS-- POISED AND GEORGEOUS- ANS ONLY SLIGHTLY SCREWY..

CHARLIE WENT FOR AN OVERNIGHT WITH PAUL AND EARLINE

Charlie is enjoying his visit and doesn't wonder more than 2-3 feet away inside the house or out in the yard. He is great with the stairs, no help required and he found out what a cat is under close supervision. It looks like he is going to have a great disposition.

CRIMSON IS HOUSE DOG THIS MORNING--- GOT TO GET HER FILL OF WOOD CHEWED BEFORE BREAKFAST.  actually she is managing to chomp up one of the big milk bones---while bobby and bailey watch waiting for the extra pieces if i don't guard her.

*********************
MUST RE DESIGN THE BACK DECK TODAY--

because.......     I GOT all the corners protected  so bobby managed to mark the wood stove--
got to get that back deck back in working order for 2 groups  pups and house dogs.

just think--- bobby is tall--- he has the ability to mark the first and second shelves of the bookcase...
so a deflector is critical

what i really need is an indoor fire hydrant.
**********************

i forgot to tell george til yesterday--- but that huge wart/callous on bailey's foot that he thought of cutting off... is gone... she ate it-----well.... she chewed it til it was gone.

*****************
today---
THERE ARE  MANY THINGS GONG ON AND I REMEMBER ONLY TELLING PEOPLE TO COME MEET US ON SUNDAY  STEW---OR MONDAY-- (THIS WEEK ONLY)

and one or two may have dogs with them  ---heads up
****************
camera mark and barbara said they's be here--- with food, not dogs,,  i need a good picture of my mosquito catchers
****************
wouldn't i love to get my hands on jaqnine's new  mini cooper for a photo op
set fido in the drivers- bailey in the passengers seat--- then  unload them and add the puppies one at a time with megan lying in the back  handing them out.
*********************
crimson is a happy thing--- she ate the entire milk bone and is now playing soccer with a water bottle.

cut and paste

from long ago  and still on my screen

from jade--
I sent this to Allison already but in case anyone else needs it I'll send you my explanation. Doors took me a while to get down pat so this was a very good question. For going through doors in the chair with Kate I taught her a new command of go ahead. I'll let go of her leash and tell her to wait(which needs to be perfect for this maneuver), then I hold the door open and tell her to "go ahead". She goes through the door and then waits for me to follow. One in a while she'll keep going about ten feet if she is in a playful mood and when I tell her to wait for me she comes cantering back with her tail wagging.

Also, I got a roomba, one of the vacuums that vacuums by itself, and Kate just keeps following it around the apartment watching it go under one part of the bed and coming out somewhere else a few minutes later trying to figure out what it's doing. It's hysterical!

Hi Carlene,

Great reading all the Doggie Daily reports.  Love your mosquito catchers.  Can your Webmaster create a YouTube video asking for donations to support the Service Dog Project?

MOXIE REPORT

Moxie is doing great.  She's great with everybody that comes in the house. She's a gentle leaner, but not everyone gets this attention. She's very curious about babies, they smell good?, and calm with toddlers, but a little stand-offish with young grabby children.  We feel the same way.  Moxie has, over the winter and spring, been better at barking ALERT when people come up the driveway or up the front stairs or ring the door bell.  It's now a normal "Hey, who's there?" kind of bark.  She loves running just to run, but would chase another dog if available and most people that see her are amazed at how fast she is for a big dog.  She's great in crowds at school afternoons if I bring her to pick up our girls.  Maybe I should make a movie of this and send it.  Most of the time she's very relaxed and calm, not anxious.  She's definitely improved her response to big noisy trucks/buses rumbling down busy Medford streets while we're on the sidewalk, though this still sometimes upset her and she looks to me for protection. This is much better response than her former panic attempt to back out of her collar.  We haven't seen that for a long time, thankfully.  On walks around town she really dislikes objects that are out of place, like flapping plastic bags caught in trees or bushes, DPW sand barrels that she knows were not "here" yesterday, and odd stuff left on the easements, like upside-down wheelbarrow.  She actually barked at that.  She does frequently and quite randomly have episodes of anxiety where she cowers and stares at the ceiling or up at trees or anything overhead.  It's a bit troubling and no amount of words, pats/hugs, treats/distractions, seem to soothe her. The "episodes" pass and a little later she's usually totally fine.

NEWS FLASH---> As expected sometime this May, Moxie went into heat today (2nd time since we've had her).  So, starting today, and based on her last cycle duration, we can expect about three weeks of this?  We'll see. Backwards jockey shorts and pads are essential when she's in the house.

Take care and Loads of love, from all of us,

Jack & Dorrie.

OLIVE IS SOUNDING PREGNANT--
SHE IS NOT EATING BREAKFAST AND HAS TRAINED PRISCILLA TO "DRESS UP" HER DINNER
SOUNDS PROMISING-

NOTHING DEFINITE ABOUT PISTOL--
AND WE NEVER DID SEE ANY SWIMMERS - DEAD OR ALIVE FROM JASPER-- BUT THAT COULD BE MICROSCOPE OPERATOR TROUBLE--- EVERYTHING ABOUT JASPER IS NORMAL--

I NOW HAVE A CARD IN FRONT OF ME

PISTOL 4/17   AI  -- BOBBY--- FOR    JUNE  20-ISH
OLIVE 4/23-4/25 -- BUMPY---  JUNE 25 ISH
CHAOS 5/23-5/25-- JASPER ---  END OF JULY

THEY COULD ALL... OR NONE....

IN ANY CASE.... TODAY I HOPE TO GET INSPIRED ABOUT THE BACK DECK...  WE NEED DOUBLE ACCESS AND SHOULD RE-DO THAT OVERHEAD CANOPY BEFORE IT FALLS DOWN ANYWAY.

WE HAVE ENOUGH 2X4'S FROM KRISTEN'S HOUSE CONSTRUCTION ( THEY AREN'T STRAIGHT ENOUGH FOR THEM--- BUT HERE....PERFECT.

THEN MAYBE I WOULD NOT HAVE TO WASH THE FLOOR EVERY DAY.

BOBBY HAS MOVED IN- AND IS A VERY AGREEABLE HOUSE GUEST- AWFULLY STRONG WHEN HE LANDS IN YOUR LAP--- BUT HIS GENERIC MANNERS ARE FINE.  ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE WHITE BUCKETS ON EVERY CORNER TO DEFLECT HIS AIM... HE SEEMS TO HAVE LOST INTEREST IN MARKING  THE VACUUM CLEANER.   BLESS HIM

DIDI AND I HAD A CONVERSATION  ABOUT TRUCKS THAT PASS ON HTE LEFT... BUD DROVE TO MY DR APT SO I HAD A CHANCE TO TALK TO HER--- ON THE WAY HOME BUD DROVE IN THE  RIGHT LANE AT ABOUT 50 MPH  SO TRUCKS WOULD PASS--- AND BY THE TIME WE GOT TO TOPSFIELD-- HE WAQS ALMOST BORED..  GOOD DOG.

BUD ALSO TOOK THE DASHBOARD OF THE COA VAN APART- AND THINKS HE HAS LOCATED THE PROBLEM
CERTAINILY TO TURN THE RADIO AND A/C ON-- YOU WHACK THE STEERING POST.
AN IMPERFECT METHOD-- SO WE LEFT IT IN PIECES WAITING FOR THE NEXT BUNCH OF WOULD BE REPAIR CREW TO HAVE A GO AT IT.  MAYBE SUNDAY...
******************
WE HAVE A COUPLE INTERESTING INQUIRYS- ONE MAY SHOW UP EITHER SUNDAY OR MONDAY

THEY HAVE AN AUTISTIC KID AND A WONDERFUL 4 YEAR OLD DANE....  IF WE CAN GET IT THRU THE ADI TEST... I HAVE NO QUALMS ABOUT CERTIFYING IT.

I FIGURE EVERY DANE IN THE NORTH EAST  WILL BE ASSUMED TO BE OURS--- SO BEST WE BE SURE TO HELP THEM SO IT BEHAVES PROPERLY.
*****************

WE WILL BE STEWING BOTH SUNDAY AND MONDAY-

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A HOLIDAY AROUND HERE ANYWAY.  SO ANY ONE WHO WANTS TO COME AND BRING FOOD-- THERE WILL PROBABLY BE A FEW AROUND HERE TO EAT IT.

(HAVE I GOT A GOOD THING GOING !!!-- THE NORMAL SUNDAY STEW HAS ENOUGH  LEFTOVERS TO GET US THRU TIL WEDNESDAY-- US BEING TOM AND I  PLUS THERESA MEGAN AND ANYONE ELSE AROUND... "OPEN HOUSE?  NO.. OPEN ICEBOX)

AND--- WAIT TIL YOU CHECK ON MY MOSQUITO CATCHING DEVICE--
A $19 WINDOW FAN WITH $3 WORTH OF NETTING---
I WISHIT WAS PATENTABLE--- IT REALLY WORKS-
PART OF THE SYSTEM IS THAT THE DOG HOUSE AND DOGS ATTRACT THE BUGS AND THE FAN BLOWS THEM OUT.

2 HAVE  BEEN UP 24 HOURS AND WE HAVE ABOUT 1/4 A CUP OF MOSQUITOS IN EACH ONE   1/4 CUP IS A HUGE NUMBER OF MOSQUITOS

MAYBE SOMEONE WITH A CAMERA CAN TAKE A PICTURE --  I TESTED THIS WITH THE $500 MOSQUITO MAQGNET-- AND THERE IS NO CONTEST-- AND IN MY HISTORY I HAVE TRIED ALL KINDS OF ZAPPERS ETC
THOSE ZAPPEWRS ARE LIKE THE ONE ARM BAND=ITS IN VEGAS--- OR THE YUPPY PUPPY-- THE ZAP NOISE IS REWARDING--
LIKE THE COIN IN VEGAS OR THE DOG TREAT IN THE TIN PAN  "WE GOT ONE!!!"
BUT IT HARDLYU ADDRESSES TH E PROBLEM

WE SHOULD PUT THE PHOTO'S ONLINE AND ASK FOR DONATIONS WHEN THEY FIND IT WORKS

WE CAN'T GET IN TO MY "VACUUM THE LAWN BEFORE THE BARBEQUE" CONCEPT-- THE BUGS ARE IN THE GRASS-- WHY CAN'T WE DESIGN  A FAN TO PULL THEM INTO A NET???

I COULD GO ON AND ON...

BUT I BETTER GET HAMMERING--- OR AT LEAST THINKING. ABOUT IT.

May 24, 2011

THE REST OF YESTERDAY--

AFTER THE
me in my jammies, in the rain, with an orange beach umbrella guarding 2 tied dogs from a disc harrow  at 4:30am.

thinking aloud
where are all these people who think puppies are so cute---
and  where is camera mark when we need him????
***********
to top it off the durrango arrived-- tom driving ... had come to help
i told him he should not have driven down-- so he politely turned aROUND AND WALKED slowly back to th e house.

so by 5am-- i was soaked --- tom was soaked-  chaos was bred and the day had hardly started.
**********************

IT ALMOST GOT WORSE WITH DIDI AND THE GEARSHIFT LEVER
****************
8am
bud arrived to deal with  tom
megan  arrived to feed and  reminded me that didi had been afraid of air brakes while she walked around newburyport-

8:02am    didi hopped in the durango cheerfully   (i needed to get her to george's for surgery)-----
*********************
it did not occur to me that trucks going 75 mph splashing down the highway would scare her-- but it did
and she landed in the front seat with me pleading for me to save her from the terrifying monsters.

last time that happened the dog flipped the ambu into reverse and i feared the durango would not be a gracious in forgiving the speed change.  so i  pulled over and there i sat with a terrified 128 pound dane in my lap.

i am very happy to report she has a terrific turn around time ----from terror- to whatthehell-- and in 10 minutes we were carefully on our way-- and she was-- not relaxed--  but just alert.

she will be a great service dog with  that turn around.....!! should be great for that woman WHO teaches special ed in new york somewhere.
***************
the rest of the day was simple compared to that
i stayed for surgery and left loni on the floor with didi waiting for her to wake up so she could prevent her from being confused and banging her head on the floor-
*****************
and came home to pack polly.. bob .. and megan off to brooksby village with the 5 pups in the puppy wagon-- with perfectly behaved  bailey following....

now that $1 council of aging van has proved it's value- because that "puppy bus/wagon" was lifted easily with the wheelchair lift--  those 5 pups are over 20 pounds each  at 7 weeks old...

a huge hit for all the nursing home people that had been set up lining the halls for the parade of polly and the pups...  they are darn cute in that fool wagon...
********************
WE COULD DO "POLLY'S PUPPY PARADE" IN MANY VERSIONS AS THEY GET OLDER.  SHE SAYS BROOKSBY HAS A NEW ENTERTAINMENT PERSON...
I ALWAYS THOUGHT WE COULD DO MORE THERE WITH VERY LITTLE EFFORT ON OUR PART.
********************
POLLY IS READING SOME BOOK THAT HAS LU PICARD'S PROGRAM IN IT.. AND SHE DESCRIBES LU'S HOLDING PUPS AWAY FROM NURSING TIL THEY QUIET DOWN-- SOUNDS NUTS TO ME-

BUT THEN SHE PROBABLY THINKS I AM NUTS FOR SPOON FEEDING PUPS AND HAVING THEM WAIT THEIR TURN.

THE PUPS ARE GETTING PRETTY GOOD AT THAT-- MAYBE TODAY WE CAN VIDEO THAT--
PEOPLE HAVE THE STRANGEST VIDEO TAKING DEVICES..

******************

VOLUNTEER DAYS
WE SEEM TO BE GETTING ORGANIZED WITH PEOPLE COMING CERTAIN DAYS

I REMEMBER POLLY AND BOB ARE MONDAY - IT HAS TAKEN ME 3 YEARS TO REMEMBER THAT--
BUT THERE ARE OTHERS ON SOME SCHEDULE  FOREIGN TO ME-- JACKIE COMES AND GOES
LORI ASKED WHAT DAYS WOULD BE BEST FOR HER TO COME--- AND I DID NOT HAVE A CLUE--- SO .. THERESA-- CAN YOU CONTACT LORI AND GET THE GENERIC SCHEDULE ON A PIECE OF PAPER--

I THINK ANNE IS COMING THURSDAY- UNLESS SHE GOES TO DENMARK-
THIS IS THE KIND OF THING THAT SENDS MY SHAKEY MEMORY SOUTH.

IT IS EASIER IF IT ALL JUST KIND OF HAPPENS-- BUT THAT DOES REDUCE THE EFFICIENCY .
****************
this Sunday newcommer who has had danes before  came to play with frankie

i have a new game around here with newcommers-- take fido for a walk to the barn and back using only 2 fingers on his leash...
too many people have the hang on and drag opinion of big dogs- i  see it all the time and the dogs are miserable.

i gave him frankie to take for a ride in his car and drummed in the 2 finger lecture
he was shocked to have frankie wait and jump in when told. and just lie down..

DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AT ABOUT 2--- AND HE WAS NOT BACK WHEN MEGAN WAS FEEDING--

AND WE WORRIED ALOUD--"did i get his phone number before frankie left???  no"

BUT HE SHOWED UP-- GOT STUCKI IN COMMUTER TRAFFIC BECAUSE HE HAD TAKEN FRANKIE TO LAHEY IN BURLINGTON WHERE HIS WIFE WORKS-- AND HAD EVERYONE PATTING FRANKIE THRU TH E WINDOW..

AND FRANKIE WAS HAPPY AS COULD BE AS HE HOPPED OUT OF THE GUYS SPOTLESSLY CLEAN CAR.....

frankie needs a buddy to play with--

tucker does too because david is on vacation...
************************

today's project--

the microscope and looking for swimmers
megan collected 1/3 of 1 drop in a cup-- and she was not exactly sure from whence cometh the drop
we saw no swimmers  in that whatever she collected from yesterday's unintentional second tryst.,

 jasper is a fast learner

May 22, 2011

large news from the Sunday stew--- is we (bud paul) opened a lantern battery a video  of which has been going around the internet and did not get the 32 AA size  in the video   but 4 oversize  "D"

i am not sure we should call that myth- busted--- or if we had a different lantern make.

continuing with flashlight theme---maria left our million dollar flashlight on the table in the guest house--after new york trip

did anyone move it??  it needs to be in the charger -- it is a critical part of our equipment as i can see from the house to the barn with it-- if so will you please see that it gets to the charger near the puppy home base.
******************************
2 former dane owners arrived here yesterday-- they had lost their dane last month and needed a dane fix.  they re not on this DD yet.
they seem to be very caring dane types and i immediately thought they might be frankie minders-- they live in beverly-- he works at the Audubon.. and has time to volunteer here???  he will come here this afternoon

bob if i am not around yet  take him in hand and figure him out-- i should be back....

the other problem is that they are used to the normal breeder language of signed agreement re dogs and breeding.
i have never bothered because if i can not take their word for something  an agreement would probably only make a lawyer wealthy arguing about it/

so how to get the message across  that they are joining a group-- expected to stay involved and  turn  up occasionally-and report any problems to us for discussion.  and use george as vet should probably be expected...

plus  not neuter frankie without discussing it with us first.

those of you who have some of our "parking placements"  chloe--olive--pistol--bumpy--merlow--moxie--and ann's bunch
could you write a few words as to how this works??

these people live in beverly so staying involved should not be a problem.

************************

today
didi is due to be spayed--- i will take her down and start her-- and lori will take over  the wake up part and bring her home.
**********************

pups are doing splendidly at the name calling spoon feeding

it is soooo much easier with the 5 at this point--- and they do not all look alike which is another blessing//

interesingly-- XL--- the "runt" still needs a lift to get on the sofa-- the rest of the litter just yesterday managed to get up there themselves..  she puts her fron t paws up--- then looks right at me  with a pathetic "please"
another day or two and she will make it too.
*************

and then there was the rice vs tapeworm study-- which any knowing person would have found amusing... but we struggled-- book in lap--  they do look alike--we decided the current bunch of "post dog"rice looking  pieces were actually rice that resembled the pre dog rice-- but the post dog-- pre treatment were probably eggs of worms..

what we did discover is that between ivermectin and fenbendazole plus this prazxxxxx  in that allwormer from australia --- all the dog worms in that book   were covered with 2 exceptions-- coccidia and and espphigial worm

coccidia is a problem i knew that new york kennel struggled with -- as in the 5 rescue dogs we got from there...
****************
and yesterday was just too confusing for jasper to think of chaos properly-- he got distracted--- there were a bunch of dogs/people here--megan and i will take the problem seriously today-- it is time.
*******************
short dog today---  i have to get the water out of didi's stall--  they are all asleep-- and the minute i wake them up i have to get that water out.

it was supposed to be removed last night..PRN MIDNIGHT)-- not so simple without the wonderful flashlight.
***********

as for upset tummy's-- i  have bad vibes about crimson's tummy  i think she should get some pepto today   and be sure she is eating right.

after i gave a generic communial snack.. she threw up yellow-- and no food-

and we had one pile of loose bm in this morning's collection from the 5 pups.  all the rest were
tidy cylinders !!!

i think it is her

May 21st

FIRSTNIGHT--(THAT'S SOMEKIND OF SCOTTISH  CELEBRATION)
but here it is -----PUPPIES ON THE DECK-- BIG DOGS IN THE HOUSE.

well--- they all  are in the house now-- eating a communal  breakfast

the big change???
i do not have to wash the entire floor--- just the corners ( thank you bobby..)

but i have learned.. put one of the costco buckets at each corner and it does deflect his aim a bit--  even catches some...
maybe if we painted a bullseye on the bottom of the bucket he could "take aim" better.

I PASS ON THESE gems of wisdom
------------
also did someone make note-- we did give the pups their first shots

vaccinations are an entirely unique arguement--  the cataloges selling vaccines declare - with authority- that they should get them at 6 weeks-- and every 2 weeks after til 16 weeks ( i think it  is)
first of all i could never remember to do it that often-

the argument being the pups carry the mom's immunity which  prevents the vaccines from "working" - then the assumoption is mom's immunity is gone by 16 weeks.

soon to be corrected by george. (dvm for the new commers)

*********************
i can't wait for all the volunteers to get here--- pups are racing around with 2 empty boxes from those breakfast bars--  and bailey is annoyed-- the senior resident  likes it quiet---( so she can fight with luna????)
******************
yesterday's momentous calamity- jASPER JOINED THE PUPS IN THE V PEN NEXT TO THE T TENT-- AND DECIDED THEY WERE RABBITS WHICH HE SHOULD CHASE--- LUCKILY HILLARY AND I WERE RIGHT THERE---
SO JASPER HAD A LESSON IN WHIFFLE WHILE HE LAY QUIETLY AND THEY SNIFFED ALL OVER HIM.
HE MIUST HAVE JUMPER=D THE 6' FENCE OR OPENED THE GATE  WE NEVER DID FIGURE THAT OUT.

jasper--- the male from that litter still "entire"  makes very quick judgements- he is a nice dog- but acts too quickly sometimes-- like charging at the guy tossing bags of lime into the ambu... etc... tell him not to--- and he doesn't do it again...
it is more an impulse action--  AT 160 POUNDS IT IS A BIG IMPULSE

i wish he would concentrate on  his job as un-neutered male today-  chaos is about on her 8th day??  she should be in the intensely attractive mode today or tomorrow..  i know bobby thought she was cute yesterdayt as he passed by the fence.... bobby is her dad--  he has no qualms at all-..

*****************
and then there is the rice----aka tapeworm eggs---

we have a lot of what look like tapeworm eggs in most of the stools--  more than i would think normal- (NEVER having  established whaT IS NORMAl)

so hillary collected samples of  those bite of "rice"  FROM THE CANNED FOOD   PRE DOG... AND.. POST DOG

NEXT GUY ON THE MICROSCOPE CAN HAVE A BALL...
I THINK WE DID HAVE SOME TAPE WORM PROBLEM--THERE WAS A VERY SLIGHT DIFFERENCE IN THE TAPE WORM SEGMENT  ---- BUT I THINK THAT IS OVER AND WE NOW HAVE  AN UNDIGESTED RICE   SITUATION

BOB--- THAT IS A STORY TO TELL THE PEOPLE WHO GAVE US THE MONEY FOR THE MICROSCOPE
WITHOUT THAT WE MIGHT KEEP WORMING OVER AND OVER...
*********************
SPEAKING OF GATES-- BUD SPENT SIGNIFICANT TIME ON THE GATE TO "V" WHICH HAS BEEN MALFUNCTIONING-FOR 5 YEARS--- PROBABLY AS SOON AS SOMEONE JERRY RIGGED  IT IN PLACE MANY YEARS AGO
********************

I THINK I DISCOVERED WHICH PUP HAS THE PEQUILIAR STOOL -- CRIMSON WAS JUST SEEN TO BE KNAWING AT THE SHELF UNDER THE SINK WHICH IS CHEAP PRESSED WOOD--- AND PROBABLY SOAKED IN SOAP ETC...
SO WE NOW HAVE A GATE ACROSS THAT INSTEAD OF THE HEATER-

WE ARE ALL SET TIL NEXT WINTER WHEN WE NEED THAT GATE TO BLOCK DIRECT ACCESS TO THE HEATER..
HEAVEN FORBID IF WE HAVE PUPS THAT WOULD MEAN WE NEED BOTH SOAP BLOCKING AND HEAT BLOCKING GATES.

THAT IS HOW IT GOES
*************************

barbara seems to have gotten lost between salt lake city and boston-- i have been "saving " Wednesday and saturday's driving tom job for her.....  causing him to try many clever ways to get someone to drive him-- anywhere---  Wednesday and Saturday  he may just have to survive with only my run for coffee.
we can  not do everything...

just a heads up--

************

today schedule----
------------normal stewing

there is someone coming with a therapy dog for me to test---  so watch and don't let it out of the car til we get the rest under  control

i hope someone decides tractor driving is fun--- because we still have a huge manure pile to move to the compost pile...

we make really good topsoil here.

is anyone out there an official accountant-?????

apparently for one of the grants for which we are applying we need to have an accountant wave their  hand over our numbers..

May 20th, 2011

clean floor-- 16 "bend over  p/u's" -all nice cylinders---  a bit of rice in one or two (indication of tape worm---) we had  wormed the pups only  for roundworms last time.
another week or two and we can do the all wormer-

this is the first time i have seen "rice"-- could have come from the rescue dogs from new york-- or just out of the clear blue sky--  tapes are often caused by ingesting a flea and the rice is the ???egg container??? .

we will keep after it- in another month or two ( i will read the directions later--- i think it was to be 3 months.)
*********************

we really need to understand this coa van-  and get it under control-it came with closets of emergency supplies-  wheelchair tiedowns-  8 electric buttons- a wheelchair lift  and seat belts that i could not understand from a moving vehicle.

it also has a cardboard box of cleaning supplies.
the dogs can ride on the double seats very nicely--- except they are faux leather and in good shape at the moment so maybe just covering them would be a way to go.

one double seat is not attached to the floor properly--- so that needs attention.
bud changeed the oil-- or filled it up-- whatever,
he thinks the phone number will peal off--- that is a big deal- as i have visions of people calling them to say i have parked crooked-or something.

maybe that can be a Sunday stew project.

the only thing that does not work is the windsheild wipers--- so the ambu is the raniny day vehicle.. and we need to get coa inspected in 7 days.
************************
got to read the dog food labels and get the pups off this purina puppy food-  it is %$50/bag  and i bet it is very similar to regular..
they are getting a vitamin pill every day.
****************
thanks to lynn we are getting $500 from metlife-

and then there is TOH---  we have not received the $14,000 from them yet...
**************
mark is bringing juno for a visit this morning-- he says she is "twichy"  and personality changes are often related to pregnancy--- ( or possibly false preg... george did sound machine inspection and saw no pups-- he could be right-- he sometimes is [he will get me for that one])
all i can go on is the combination  of facts  --- shape?  milk?  and she is not skinny in the first place.... it is one of those  wait long enough and you will know  in the meantime give her a one a day vitamin and see what happens next.

other than that.....

May 19th, 2011

there will be considerable less bounce in these DD as i spend the first 4 minutes of  my day saying  DON'T STEP IN THAT to happy puppies
then the next 21 minutes washing the floor.
but i have it down to a science now..

the exciting part---- is that   i went to home depot to get some more floppy cotton ends to the mop i am using--  only to find they are being discontinued-- and the key to that is when you ring yourself out--- they cost a penny.... instead of $7.99
clue--- if you go thre the registger the one penny is to tell the staff to get them off the shelf-- so use the self check out.
now when megan gets here i will forward the sku for that -- and if theresa or someone can stop in the home depot at libertree  and get me a few--- they beat turkish towels for drying the floor

these funny little corporate secrets--- like costco's star in the top right means  the object will not be reordered.... at least for a few months.

manny and didi are doing very well---  not quite to the very light control of  "carry a tray of waterglasses in your hand with the leash"  but not bad.. and manny has decicded patting is a good thing--  getting things off a shelf over his head when he can not get away because he is blocked by the carriage  was a little worrisome-- but that is within the normal range of panic.

and he almost has the "we will eventually find your sister --- so knock it off" down pat too.

i wish i had a video  of them loading into the new van''' they stood in a row with maeag  who then told them one at a time to climb in--- and they were on the button... like clockwork.

and that comes from-- or starts with--- the spoon feeding when you call their name.

we had a report that juno is acting wierd-- ? pregnant??
ultra sound said no-- which has been known  to establish  ---yes preg is a yes... but no has been known to be a yes too-- or a false preg.

so on we go

May 17, 2011

i was really not prepared for 5 days of heavy rain and cold--- i had figured the pups could start their journey from the living room   to the  back room/deck--  then nut house -- in their usual rotation  to puppy kennels 9/10  and the training kennels 1 thru 8

and then the rains started--- and i had best spend my time building an arc

the whole thing got complicated by bailey and luna getting in a fight   - and bailey would love to continue it as she wanders so innocently past luna with her head ever so slightly raised--
until i pick up the whiffle bat and raise that ever so slightly-  bailey's
vhead drops like a rock.

didi is booked for spay on monday===   hopefully she won't come in heat by then
****************

we got the council of aging van-- nice van--- 2003    102000 miles on it

\i stopped in the mechanic's and invited him to drive  round the block-- it was shifting differently than i was used to ( the ambulance)  who knew which was wrong??  he said this coa van was well worth the price we paid ($1)  and would probably go another 100,000 miles - especially driven locally-- he suggested we rent vans for any trip to nyc...

it certianly is "tight" compared to the ambu..

and is 11 passenger..
instead of taking out seats, i want someone to make some coffee table things so the dogs can ride "seat level"  and if we need to carry people, just turn the coffee tables upside down.
i have done this kind of thing before in a car-- i would pack the foot area with newspapers for carrying animals -- and throw the papers out to carry people.
 it works

did i spenty the night with megan--- shopping at christmas tree shop-  that has to be the ultimate madhouse--- and didi did perfectly i am happy to report.  she loves the attention of everyone.

manny is gettting pretty good at that too

today-- maybe anne will be around--- for puppy patting---
and we can contemplate the cocktail table concept -- i wish milk crates were just a bit  bigger..  they would work too- then we could stack them..
i think i have seen rectangular "milk crates" instead of the usual square ones.

we can go on a hunt..

she was not squirting blood--- but she was a mess- thanks to bailey-- and now needs "handle with care"

they -luna and bailey got in a fight-- in the A pasture-- and luna now has a torn ear--- and a gash on her front leg..-  they are sisters and have been living together for years--- 7 of them to be exact...  and have had battles before--   why now????--- probably over a squirrel-- something to get the excitement level up...

i bandaged for a while til it stopped bleeding-- and now she is licking the leg and it is clean.
but the torn ear means she will not push her way thru the doggie door so the 2 doors from room to deck have to stay open-- and she will be in the intensive care unit ( tv room)

merlow goes home today so those 3 can come in the house again

and the pups spend the day on the deck- with run in area...

i wondered why i was so stiff and sore--- it was that  puppy "barrier"  weighs a ton--- and  needs about 1" cut off with a hand saw--- maybe someone at the stew today can do that...  it is a very handy 28" tall which means we can step over it-- using the rope now hanging over a beam...

.log homes are wonderful-- i hate to think of all the holes that i have banged at random-- the puppy barrier just has a few more...

and.. i put merlow out with her pups while i de-poo'd the vinyl floor...( they re beginning to come for canned food)   and 4 came-- i got them anchored and went to look for merlow and she and the tiny pup were down on the path--- right next to that stream-- when i called them    merlow ran up the hill-- but that little pup followed her path even when merlow was out of sight.--it was a long haul.. ...

that means we should get the nuthouse hill ready for the  pups next---  which means chaos ( red drip) can move to the laundry.

round we go--

normal stew schedule today--
hanging out
fire going
food-- probably--

May 13, 2011

new york is still there-- i do not know why  but there were- conservatively hundreds of policemen in the area of battery park..  they didn't seem to be paying too much attention to anything-- so all i could figure is that it was part of the mkovie being filmed there now.

we made it- and in the case of our car--- thanks to maria being wide awake at 12:30am as a small sportscar zoomed out of 93 and cut us off big time.

other than that-- the pups traveled very well and  were of course a huge hit-- the big dogs did their jobs  ..with many toh people talkimg to david , jim  nand paul--- who was handling bailey in harness--

earline-- with her hair not out of place  was also a great pr person...megan and hillary's youth was a big factor in all that stuff into and out of the third floor

we think.... maria and i... that there were fewer people.. and there was a big display of jewelery for a silent auction-- and of the 30 pieces-- which i only glanced at so not to be too obvious  i saw only one bid.

i did get to meet the new ceo of neads-- he is a significant structure- i would like to spend more time discussing things with him.. like gentle leaders nd harness handles.

and we did meet a shev x lab pup that made it... wearing a huge harness of a blind person-- but the owner was not blind-

i did get the card of the new ceo of neads -- and gave it to paul- i hope i get it back before it goes thru the laundry.

but the cars now need to be emptied and returned before 8:30   and they are full of "stuff"

i hope voluteers show up today  we will be dragging

make that... i am draggin'

MARY
because there was no picture of mary in the Sunday tabloo-- i had 2 panic emails asking if she was ok..   she usually gets her long ears in many photo's just by being around looking for carrots  .. but she wasn't even in the background.  i told mark this was a problem-- the puppies are cute--- but then there is mary ....
*****************
an old friend -bill huber  photographer from boston may want to do a series with pups--  i sent him the tabloo also to see if our pups would  "work" for size  ---
he is the photographer that did the picture of pipi in the shreaded stuffed chair.... and many others.. ---- we go way back to many strange animal  advertising shots  -
 many-- many ----

I/WE HAVE SOME SERIOUS ORGANIZATION FOR TOMORROW'S TRIP
AND I BEST GET AT IT.

I ASKED "COUSIN JIM" IF HE COULD FIGURE OUT WHERE WE COUD STOP BEFORE GOING TO THE RESTAURANT AND I DIDN'T REALIZE WHAT A VOLATILE ISSUE DOGS WAS TO HIM  SINCE HIS WIFE IS PRESIDENT  AND FOUNDER OF BATTERY PARK WHATEVER...

HE EMAILED ME
his quote "the over use of the Park  turned her $180,000,000  Battery  Park project into a huge unkept urine smelling dog run.

AND THEN HE GOT HELPFUL WITH

Carlene,

If you come down the West Side highway that it heads into  Battery Park.  That is where a lot of buses park letting people out to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island tours.  You could let your guy out there.  Map Quest or Google 21 West Street.  There is a huge garage right opposite 21 West Street and it is a block away from the Park.

Hope that is helpful.

Jim

I AM HOPING WE CAN MEET PETER THERE SOMEHOW.
**********************

WE HAVE THE "SHELVING/FENCING"   TARP AND FLUFFIES
WE STILL HAVE TO PACK A COOLER OF THINGS LIKE FIRST AID ( PUPPIES SCRATCH EVEN THO WE DID THERI NAILS) PAPER TOWELS AND DUCT TAPE...

NOT ONLY DO WE HAVE TO PACK IT--- WE HAVE TO FIND IT FIRST.

HARD PRESSED FOR CUT AND PASTE  ---

I GOT THIS FROM LYNN CASHMAN

The Roy Rogers Museum in Branson , MO closed its doors forever.  The contents of the museum were sold at a public auction.  Roy Rogers told his son, if the museum ever operates at a loss, close it and sell the contents.  He complied.
Note the follow-on article, truly the end of an era.
Here is a partial listing of some of the items that were sold at auction...
Trigger's saddle and bridle sold for $386,500

MAKING ME WONDER WHAT REX TRAILER'S SADDLE WOULD SELL FOR -- DIDA HAS THAT ONE.

May 10th, 2011

IT IS A GOOD THING PUPPIES ARE CUTE-- OTHERWISE I WOULD KICK THEM ALL OUT OF HERE.

MOMMY HAS FIGURED OUT HOW TO OPEN THE TV ROOM DOOR-

DOESN'T SOUND LIKE MUCH--  BUT

THEY TOTALLY ENJOYED  ALL THE CRINKLY PAPERS IN THE SCRAPBASKETS--- AND SUCH A HAPPY NOISE AS THEY SHREADED THEM.

FORTUNATELY I DON'T THINK THEY MADE ANY ELIMINATIONS IN THE ROOM- AT LEAST I DID NOT KNEEL IN ANY AS I CRAWLED AROUND RETRIEVING MY HUNDREDS OF FLASH CARDS  WHICH I FLASH IN THE FUTILE ATTEMPT TO LEARN SIGN LANGUAGE.

NOR DID THEY TIP OVER THE JUG OF MARBLES THAT I PUT IN THE MONKEY FISTS--  THEY JUST DRAGGED THE STRING AROUND.
***************
AND THE FIRST EMAIL I OPENED WAS SOMEONE FROM TOPSFIELD WANTING TO HELP WITH THE DOGS--
YES !!!
WE CAN TAKE HELP WHERE WE FIND IT.

TROUBLE IS-- IT IS NOT CONVENIENT FOR VOLUNTEERS TO COME HERE AT 4AM TO GET THE PUPS BACK ON AN EVEN KEEL.

THIS MORNING I AM HAPPY TO REPORT THE WORMER WORKED  AS THE 15 LITTLE PILES OF SPAGETTI DEMONSTRATED.

AND FORTUNATELY THEY STAY IN BED FOR THE 192 SECONDS  IT TAKES ME TO  SCOOP WITH THE CARDBOARDS EVERYONE PREPARED.

THIS ELIMINATES THE  MORNING "HAPPY JUMP AND SMEAR" WHICH MAKES LITTERS OF PUPS SO UNATTRACTIVE.

I ONCE THOUGHT WE HAD ENOUGH CEREAL BOXES CUT INTO 3X5 RECTANGLES.

I DON'T THINK THAT ANY MORE.

THEN COMES THE NEWSPAPERS-- I THINK WE HAVE ENOUGH OF THOSE  ..  WITH THIS VINYL FLOOR THE FRONT ROOM IS SECOND ONLY TO THE MISSISSIPPI FLOOD PLAIN--

THE MAN WHO INSTALLED THIS FLOOR THUGHT I WAS NUTS TO HAVE HIM LEAVE 1" TURNED UP ALONG THE WALLS.

SO FAR THE 1" DIKE  STAYS AHEAD OF THE OVERNIGHTLY FLOODING.

MEGAN AND I HAVE THE WASHING OF THIS FLOOR DOWN
TO A 4 MINUTE CHORE-  MOP SLOP AND SLURP WITH THE WET VAC-- AND WE ARE SWEET SMELLING ONCE AGAIN.
*****************
NOW THAT WE NAVE THE ELIMINATION REPORT OUT OF THE WAY..
****************
CHARLIE -- ALL 17 POUNDS OF HIM-- FILLED THE RED PRAM AND WAS DANM CUTE AS WE WALTZED HIM THRU COSTCO.

I HAD TOLD ALL THOSE EMPLOYEES I WOULD DO THAT--AND WE SURE DID.  WE MADE ALOT OF PEOPLE SMILE.

IT IS ALWAYS INTERESTING TO SEE THE FEW WHO DON'T EVEN SMILE AT THE SIGHT OF A CUTE HARL PUP IN A BRITISH NANNY'S PRAM.

THE ONLY IMPROVEMENT WOULD BE A LACE TRIM-- WE HAD ONE SOMEWHERE..
*******************

DID I REPORT YETERDAY THAT BERNARD HAD A MEDICAL ISSUE AND PUT OFF HIS ARRIVAL FOR A BIT.
NOT A BAD THING --- FOR US ANYWAY--- IT WILL GIVE US MORE TIME TO  WORK MANNY  PAST THE MIRROR IN THE MEAT COUNTER--- AND GET TO THE BIGGER ONE IN TH E FRESH VEGGIE COUNTER.
*****************
POLLY AND BOB ARE BACK AND SURVIVED THEIR EUROPE JAUNT.

NOW IF WE COULD GET ANNE BACK FROM DENMARK WE WOULD BE IN FULL SWING.
**************
THURSDAY TRIP-

BLACK PANTS AND  SDP SHIRT MIGHT BE THE  ORDER OF THE DAY???  WE DO HAVE ENOUGH HATS- AT LEAST TO HAVE THE PUPPY MANAGERS MATCH.
I THINK WE NEED PAUL IN NORMAL SHIRT/PANTS- BECAUSE IF THEY ARE SHORT DOGS. HE COULD THEN BE BAILEY'S "VETERAN"
OTHERWISE SHE WILL BE THE WANDERRING DEMO DOG- WHICH SHE DOES SO WELL/

AND WE ARE GOING TO
BRIDGEWATERS  AT SOUTH STREET SEAPORT  RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM OF MANHATTAN

BATTERY PARK IS RIGHT NEAR-- AND I HOPE I CAN CONTACT MY COUSIN IN LAW  WARRIE PRICE TO SEE IF SHE CAN PULL A STRING AND LET US RUN THE DOGS BEFORE WE GO IN THE RESATURANT.

PARKING 2 VANS IN THAT AREA IS FROWNDED UPON.

WARRIE IS THE DESIGNER  AND PRESIDENT OF THE BATTERY PARK XXXWHATEVERS... AND IF ANYONE CAN GET US PAST THAT -- SHE CAN...
.... IF I CAN GET HOLD OF HER-- LAST SEEN IN ITALY.  BUT EMAILS ARE EMAILS.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE IMPRESSED--- GOOGLE WARRIE PRICE

MEGAN DID TH E MANNIE THING YESTERDAY AT THE MEAT COUNTER AT SHAWS ----  I DID NOT GET ANY REPORT ON WHAT HAPPENED-- ( I SUPPOSE  THERE IS A SMALL POSSIBILITY SHE IS STILL THERE)

two remarkable's from yesterday

i got manny to look forward to the freeze dried liver treat at SHAW'S  meat counter-- he still needs mirror practice in the training room.. because he ate so much liver yesterday- i think he needs a day off FROM GOING IN PUBLIC  so we don't have a nasty accident--

BERNARD  IS EXPECTED TO  "HAVE A GO AT IT" STARTING MONDAY.  THEY WILL BE HERE.
*************
**************
and we got the fountains in the pond-- actually we got me in the pond too-  there is zero footing next to the pond--  actually the mud is about 18" deep-- and i had megan's help getting me into and out of--  she pulled a rope when i least expected it and there was no footing-- so i pitched myself trying to land on my back  in the water part-that did not work- and i landed in the mud- luckily megan stopped laughing in time to pull me out-- after i nearly pulled her in.

but the fountains are in... and working.  LOOKIN GOOD.

CAROL AND HAWKEYE MAY BE AROUND ON  FOR SUNDAY STEW

**********
getting our trip ready for new york---
I HAD THOUGHT PETER AND WIFE MIGHT APPEAR THIS WEEKEND- HE WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE PUPS... BUT MAYBE HE WILL  CONNECT WITH US WHEN WE GO THERE ON THURSDAY
I DUNNO-- WHAtever.
i AM GOING TO HAVE TO GET SOME NEW SHELVING---   EVEN PAINTED THESE ARE NOT PRISTINE... WE NEED  about 6 of the 1" wooden drawer knobs screwed to a board--- just like the bottom draWERS OF THIS DESK--  THEY are perfect chewing devices..

AND---- THE PUPS WERE LOOSE AGAIN LAST NIGHT---  THEY ARE TIDY SOULS--- THEIR PEN AREA HAD SOME FLUID-- BUT NO SOLIDS-

AND I HOPE WE GET THE "ALLWORMER" FROM AUSTRALIA IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS--- THEY SAID 5 TO 10 DAYS-    WE NEED IT.

****************************
ALONG THE LINES OF "IT IS ALWAYS SOMETHING"---- VALERIE  IS WORKING HER WAY THRU ARROW'S AVERSION TO HUGE GROUPS OF CHATTY WOMEN

I wanted to give you an update on Arrow's progress with his aversion to loud noise.  On Wednesday we attended a fundraising luncheon for the MS Society here in Charlottesville.  It was my job to introduce the guest speakers.  I had lots of notice so several times  a couple of weeks before Arrow and I practiced getting on the stage, putting him in a down for a few minutes, and getting off the stage.  The only thing I couldn't duplicate was the noise level.  On the day of the event he refused to enter the room where 200 women were chattering in their high pitched voices.  I tried to get there early but as a chair person for the event I had to be elsewhere as the room was filling up.  When a 165 pound Great Dane lies down 10 feet from a door, there's no way to force the issue!  I decided to take him around to a side door and that's when I remembered to put the cotton balls in  his ears.  I should have done it the first time.  I waited outside a few minutes for the  noise to die down a bit, and two friends came out to chat.  They were good friends of Arrow's too, and all of us entered the room together without any hesitation from Arrow.  He got to his blanket with no problem and was perfect for the next two hours.  He did beautifully on the stage while I gave my remarks.  In my comments I mentioned that I too had been asked to be the keynote speaker for several events in the past.  I told them that I had noticed that when people asked me if I was willing to speak and I said yes, they said, "And can you bring the dog too?"  That got a good laugh.

Take care,

Valerie

SO  ---  VALERIE--- I COULDN'T TELL FROM YOUR SENTANCE IF YOU USED THE COTTON BALLS IN HIS EARS??? AND IF SO ---DO YOU THINK THEY HELPED--- OR WAS IT YOUR FRIENDS.????

IF IT WORKED --- I AM GOING OUT TO BUY SOME STOCK IN THE COTTON BALL MAKING COMPANIES.

i do not understand....
however..
***************************
pups had their first night loose  and they did very well-- especially since i had plenty of cardboard cereal box pieces to clean up the lovely vinyl floor-
it wasn't too bad...  not too many "soft steps"--  mostly undisturbed collections...
now the interesting part--- i am sure you are all breathless to hear---  there was not one "pile of poo" inside the pen--
this is the cleanest litter we have ever had...  they go away from their sleeping quarters---
that is supposed to be a natural instinct
maybe other litters did not have the expanse of floor AT THEIR DISPOSAL.. SO TO SPEAK...
*  ******
PLEASE NOTE-- THE SHIFT FROI SMAll letters to lARGE OFTEN HAPPENS WITH AN "a"  - I HAve A DEFECTIVE LEFT PINKY FINGER.;-
*******
aND according to my cpap machine i got 8.4 hours of sleep--unheard of !
i left them with a large oreck cardboard box--  and i could heAR THEM SHOVING IT AROUND--- THAT DID NOT REALLY WAKE ME-- WHAT DID WAKE ME WAS WHEN THEY STArted chomping on it and i could hear their teeth puncturing it--- in my sleep i could not process that noise- there is a little bit of a snap as their cute little teeth break thru the paper surface..

but they know  WHERE THEIR SOFT BED IS And are snoozing there right now.

i think i told you all before that it certainly looked like their 9:30pm screaming- that demanded i get up and let them out of that pen--- seemed to be to move their bowels- which they would do and turn round and go back to the soft bed.

hey   what is a DD without some reference/\

it has taken up a lot of my life... one could say i put my kids thru college with this topic..
******************

I DON'T KNOW IF ALL OF YOU  KNOW... BUT I HAVE A SOMEWHAT UNUSUAL FEAR OF MAYONASE DISPLAYS.

I REMEMBER..... MICHAEL  AT ABOUT 8 MONTHS OLD  --- IT TOO WAS A SHAWS-- WENT IN FINE-- MADE THE ROUNDS AND APPROACHED THE CHECKOUT AND  hs !!  THERE WERE BALLOONS HOVERING OVER EACH CHECKOUT--  AND HE BACKED UP-- BIG TIME ---BACK UP
WHICH FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO SHOP--- YOU KNOW DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM CHECKOUTS IN OFTEN MAYONASE DISPLAYS-
HE MISSED IT--- BUT NOT BY MUCH--

NOW   ---MANNY-
I AM GLAD BERNARD DID NOT TAKE MAnny back to vermont yet-- he had a really strange HS  (HOLY SH#T) EPISODE   IN SHAWS
THEY HAVE A MIRROR SLANTED OVER THE BEEF COUNTER-- ALL OF A SUDDEN HE SAW THAT DOG IN THE  MIRROR- HOVERING OVER HIS HEAD ABOUT TO POUNCE ON HIM- AND HE DROPPED-- FLat

took me about 1/2 hour to get out of there-  memory of heydAWG AND THE SLIPPERY FLOOR...  TOOK ME A WHILE TO EVEN RETRIEVE MY CARRIAGE WHICH WAS NEXT TO THE BEEF.
***************
MEGAN HAD DIDI  WHO IS EITHER MORE LEVEL HEADED -- OR LESS OBSERVANT--
******
WE ALSO DID ELEVATOR PRACTICE IN LAHEY - THEN WE SAT IN THE  LOBBY  AND STOPPED TRAFFIC--
THE HIGHLIGHT OF THAT WAS A WOMAN WITH A CELL CAMERA WANTED A PICTURE - SHE WAS SHORT-  SO WE SET HER UP- BETWEEN MANNY AND DIDI WHILE  MEGAN GOT WHAT WILL PROBABLY BE HER CHRISTMAS CARD PICTURE  AND A SIGNIFICANT CROWD GATHERED...

I SAID  "10 CENTS  A PAt"  but i didn't get any money...  at least yet... you never know..

**********************yesterday also --- 2 dogs got loose thru the area behind the arena

while i was repairing that hole--- i saw several sections of  thAT extremely expensive 2 x 4 wire pannels all intertwined in the bushes..

THEY USED TO BE A CAGE FOR RAISING MCCAWS IN GLOUCESTER
( ---.. IT IS SOMETIMES INTERESTING TO UNDERSTAND HISTORY)

maybe the 2 st johns kids can tackle that one today.

OUR SCHEDULE?   PROBABLY NORMAL OUT OF HERE  10-12

YOU WILL FIND ME IN FRONT OT THE MEAT COUNTER IN SHAWS AT NORTH SHORE

IF I AM STILL THERE AT 2--- WE HAVE BIG TROUBLE.

May 5th, 2011

I HAVE ZERO INSPIRATIONTHIS MORNING.

the only excitement around here yesterday was colleen and her house purchase.
she bid on a house being sold by a bank-- in boxford-- and the offer was accepted-- but yesterday they removed all the appliances and the barn-  i can not understand why that is not something that could be legally addressed by the real estate agency.

i do not understand--  can they strip the boards off the walls too?

sometimes people do things because they know it is too expensive to stop them
***
like taking a pet into a restaurant.
*************************
a woman in a senior care facility called me -- with a good one.
she has a woman with a psychiciatric service dog- certified by soMe outfit i never heard of-  PROBLEM WAS..  IN HER WORDS...--- BY ADA LAW SHE IS TO DEAL WITH THE SERVICE DOG IF SHE IS TREATING THE PATIENT-  AND SHE COULD NOT FIND ANYONE IN GLOUCESTER WITH LIABILITY INS TO WALK THIS DOG--- WHICH SHE KNEW WAS VERY VALUABLE IF TRULY  A SERVICE DOG.

I TRIED TO LOOK UP THE OUTFIT THAT CERTIFIED-- AND IT SEEMS THEY ONLY DO PAPERWORK--TO CERTIFY-- THEY DO NOT TRAIN ETC..

THEY WILL GIVE YOU PAPERS--- FOR A SUM..

IT IS CALLED AMERICAN INGENUITY .
***************
BURNESS ( BERNARD) CALLED--- AND THEY CAN COME DOWN MONDAY AND SPEND SOME TIME WITH MANNY-

COLLEEN HAD HIM YESTERDAY FOR AN OVERNIGHT--WITHOUT ANY REALLY REMARKABLE INCIDENTS-  IN A CROWD OF PEOPLE , IN TRAFFIC SHE SAID HE DID NOTICE EVERYTHING--- WHICH IS HIS SECURITY THING--HE WAS LOOSE ALL DAY IN HER GROOMING SHOP- OTHER THAN BEING TERRIFIED OF TINY DOGS, HE JUST WANDERED.

**********

WE ARE SEEDED- WHICH I HOPE TURNS GREEN-  THERE ARE PARTS OF OUR "LAWN"  THAT ARE EXCLUSIVELY LITTLE YELLOW FLOWERS.

AT LEAST WE DO NOT USE CHEMICALS TO KILL THEM.  MAKING WINE FROM THEM HAS BEEN SUGGESTED ( GO AT IT)

I WONDER....... HAS ANYONE DONE A STUDY ON THE APPLICATION OF DANDELION KILLER AND CANCER IN DOGS?
*****************

TODAY--- I HAVE NO SCHEDULE-- SO PROBABLY THE GENERIC 10-12  OUT OF HERE-- THERESA WILL BE HERE

*****************
JUST IN CASE JADE IS LOOKING FOR MY OBAMA-OSAMA COMMENTS-- OBAMA MUST BE SURE OSAMA IS DEAD-- IT WOULD BE MOST AWKWARD IF HE TURNED UP NEXT WEEK IN MONGOLIA.
****************
IF YOU WANTG TO DEAL IN CONSPIRACY THEORY'S  HAVE A GO AT THIS HOUR LONG VIDEO JANINE SENT   ABOUT HOW DID THEY FIT A 747 IN A HOLE 14'WIDE  AT THE PENTAGON  AND THEN ALL PARTS DISAPPEARED..

I HAVE ALWAYS QUESTIONED THE PENTAGON STORY--- SO THAT PART OF THIS VIDEO I CONSIDER A VALID STUDY--- THE REST  IS--- TO ME-- JUST TOO MUCH STRETCHING..

IF NOTHING ELSE---  FOR THE REST OF THE FILM....THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO WOULD HAVE TO HAVE BEEN INVOLVED WOULD NOT ALL KEEP THEIR MOUTHS SHUT ALL THIS TIME
THAT TOO IS THE AMERICAN WAY.

BUT THE PENTAGON ?? THERE ARE SOME VALID POINTS THAT ARE NOT PHOTO SHOP.

May 4, 2011

i draw a blank

mostly because  frankie is a 3 sequence barker  and will not stop--- i should go out there with my whiffle bat and bang his fence
*******************
everybody needs so much personal attention  and shifting them around to keep enimies apart is  limiting the number we have loose..-- to like 6 or 8 at the stew... but a lot of people were paying attention.
*******************

there is a concept here...

i think i finally figured out homer's actions--
homer was jim's service dog-

at home he was devoted to  ann(jim's wife)-- and would on occasion grumble at jim. a (grumble is nearly a growl--- but more of a comment--)
put him in harness--- and he was jim's dog and would grumble at ann.

running loose homer was comfortable with ann- but put him in harness, and he knew his job and did it willingly... with a "leave me alone and don't confuse me" attitude..

i think many of our dogs do not have enough of the run-- call---cheese---run practice particularly with a man one of the callers.   --  homer just didn't know what to do if he was not under some "training" order.

it may be a little of a stretch - a lot of things are a stretch in the beginning.

i think mannie is the same situation---
"i know this person and i know how to stay out of trouble with them"  as opposed to  "who on earth is this  --- and what am i supposed to do?"

i know- out in the real world it is "why does this person stick out their hand like that instead of smelling my  butt?"
never occored to me we should teach people manners--- like- "go sniff the hand"

so Sunday when we have a bunch here maybe we can do some of that--  if it rains... someone in  each of the teepee's and the t-tent-

and in harness we should do more of "go say hi"  when a hand is extended..

make it a learned motion. it sure isn;t a natural one for most of  our dogs.

******************
dakota-- the blue female from essex-- i was hopping she was only female dog aggressive-- which is ---- slightly --- normal
but yesterday she attacked fido for absolutely no reason--  so i have asked lynn to find her a new home-  there are people who can deal with a dog aggressive dog-
and we could ---- if we had to--- but she is too "labor intensive"- and having here here will reduce the time others can be spent running loose with people..
lynn says she has someone ..
(lynn is nh dane rescue)
***********
peter  (TOWER OF HOPE---PETER) MAY COME UP THIS WEEKEND-  FOR SOME OR ALL OF THE WEEKEND NIGHTS IN THE GUEST HOUSE.

AND WE ARE GATHERING STUFF-- FOR THE GALA IN NEW YORK-
******************

TODAY'S JOBS-- LOCATE THE 12" WHITE WIRE  SHELVING.. WE WILL NEED A BUNCH-- BECAUSE WE MAY NOT BE NEXT TO A WALL  SO WE HAVE TO MAKE A COMPLETE CIRCLE OR OCTAGON--  MORE LIKELY A RANDOM SHAPE ENCLOSURE  ---( LORDY... IS THAT A RHOMBUS??)

we did sam's yesterday---  and i told her we were about out of the pallet of dog food-  she said she would call---  let us pray...

today - normal timing i guess--

p.s.  bernard--- that rug is now in the tv room-- it is a lovely thing i never would have purchased myself--   thanks for noticing it beside the road--- (it had even been cleaned.)

p.s.  thAT LAST TABLOO-- MY FAvorite PICTURE IS MEGAN AND HILLARY TOASTING MARSHMELLOWS IN THE TEEPEE--

oh yes... rhea-- having been spayed twice by someone-not george- is now in full milk production-- we have searched--- there were no pups involved--- but she could nurse a litter !!

May 3, 2011

puppy progress

the 12" section is a joke-  they go over it as fast as they go thru the open  gate right next to it

we are learning to fence fight  IT IS SOOO  much better than actually getting chewed up..

i decided it is like drivers who curse and swear aT OTHER DRIVERS ON THE HIGHWAY -- PERFECTLY SECURE INSIDE THEIR VEHICLES...  THEY RAGE ON-

I BET IF SOMEONE DID A STUDY THEY WOULD FIND IT IS NOT AS COMMON WHEN CARS ARE PARKED AT A TRFFIC LIGHT AS IT IS WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY--- AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT SOMEONE MIGHT GET OUT AND ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING.

ANYWAY...PUPPIES---
THE PUPS HAVE ALSO LEARNED  THE   SLIDE-DRAG-TEAR  MANEUVER -- SO MY NICE TIDY PILE OF NEWSPAPERS IS EQUALLY DISTRIBUTED ALL OVER THE FLOOR....  THEN SHREADED...---- WHICH WOULDN'T BE BAD--- EXCEPT  REMEMBER LAST WEEK THEY DECIDED  "NEWSPAPERS?  PERFECT POOING PLACE"

I ALWAYS SAID "TO SUCCESSFULLY RAISE ANIMALS -- BENG OBSERVANT IS THE MOST CRITICAL TRAIT."  LIKE..."HOW CAN A PIECE OF TWIG BE SO ABSOLUTELY STRAIGHT?"  NATURE DOES NOT DO 100% STRAIGHT AND IT TURNS OUT TO BE A NAIL--OR SOME OTHER MAN MADE OBJECT-

ANOTHER STUDY COULD BE --- HOW MUCH OF THE DANVERS ANIMAL HOSPITAL IS SUPPORTED BY DOGS SWALLOWING A MAN MADE OBJECT?
******************

IN KINDERGARDEN--- THE SONG  "BEND AND STRETCH-- REACH FOR THE SKY"   THAT IS WHAT WE NEED NOW--- OR PREFERABLY YESTERDAY--  ALL THE WHITE BUCKETS ALL OVER THE GREENISH AREAS ARE TO PICK UP ANYTHING BESIDES GREEN GROWING THINGS--- LIKE ROCKS,, OR HEAVEN FORBID--- A HAY STRING... IN PREPARATION FOR THE FIRST MOW.

HAVING TOPSEEDED THE BARE SPOTS== THERE ARE MANY ROCKS WHICH NEED TO BE REMOVED-- THAT MOWER CAN SEND ONE SIDEWAYS WITH THE SPEED OF A BULLET.

IF LIFE WAS A PURE WORLD ONE MIGHT ASK-- IF THE TOPSOIL IS FROM THE MANURE PILE AS OF 3 YEARS AGO... WHERE DID THE ROCKS COME FROM?.
I KNEW A CONTRACTOR WHO SAID "GOD CALLS THE ROCKS FROM THE DEPTHS TO THE SURFACE" WHATEVER ,,,

I HATE TO THINK OF ANYONE STANDING IN THEIR FAMILY ROOM BENDING OVER REPETITIVELY NOT ACCOMPLISHING ANYTHING..WE NEED  "BENDERS"    AS ROCK PICKERS
THAT FLAT FIELD  LOOKS SO NICE WHEN IT RESEMBLES LAWN.

I HAVE NO SPECIAL HEALTH TO REPORT--

WHAT DD WOULD BE COMPLETE WITH OUT SOME POO OBSERVATIONS..
THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THE DIAMETER OF  THE POO OF CHARLIE,CRIMSON AND PI  COMPARED TO XL AND CORKY
I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU NEEDED THAT--- BUT..... ALL THAT CUT CARDBOARD WORKS BEAUTIFULLY AS PICKER UPPERS.

AS I CAREFULLY BALANCE THEY CYLINDERS TO BE DEPOSITED IN THE RECEPTACLE - I AM REMINDED OF  COLLEGE  DORM LIFE AND "SH#T ON A SHINGLE"
******************

WE DID GO TO THE DODGE DEALER TO MEASURE THE MINIVANS WE HAVE  ON ORDER FOR THE TRIP TO NY GALA-- I AM GLAD WE DID THAT.

RE THE 3 SEATS IN THE BACK----- 3 PEOPLE CAN RIDE IN THE BACK ONLY IT 2 OF THEM WEIGH LESS THAN 50 POUNDS.
SO THAT PUPPY VAN COLD BE   2 IN THE BACK-- ONE IN THE MIDDLE AND 2 IN FRONT TO BE COMFORTABLE-  AND ABLE TO MANAGE THE PUPS.
AND THE BARRIERS (WHITE SHELVING )WILL HAVE TO BE 6'LONG  NOT 8'  AND WE HAVE TO BE PREPARED NOT TO BE AGAINST ANY WALL---  SO WE ARE  A RANDOM  ?OCTAGIONAL SHAPE  APROX 12 X 15

WE ALSO BOUGHT A NEW TARP-- DARK BROWN- WHICH I REMEMBER WORKED WELL ON THE DARK CARPET OF THE GALA DINING ROOM--- IT DOES HAVVE SOME TEXTURE  AND WILL BE FINE IF WE BREAK IT UP WITH SOME COLORFUL THINGS--- LIKE A FEW TOYS  AND A BATH MAT OR TWO,
******************

TODAY'S SCHEDULE??

CUTTING AND PASTING
Hi Carlene,
I wanted to thank you for letting Ben, Hadley and I come by and visit SDP yesterday. We had such a wonderful time getting to see all of the dogs and the pups and really feel that what you all do there is incredible. Once we got home, Ben and I started talking about coming to help out on a more regular basis. We are available on Saturdays and Sundays all day and would be willing to help out anyway we could – you just tell us what to do.
Also, Ben works for a division of GE in Beverly and was selected to be part of the C.I.T.E. community service/charity group at Electric Insurance. This morning he sent the following email to one of the executives in hopes of helping to raise some money for your organization:
From: Husted, Benjamin (Electric Insurance)

Morning Rob,
I was wondering if we could do a jeans day, make a donation, or something for this local (Ipswich) charitable organization, “The Service Dog Project”. Their goal is to train and provide service dogs (Great Dane’s) to mobility challenged veterans and other individuals.
My wife, daughter, and I spent Sunday at the farm, an incredible experience, meeting everyone and we plan to offer our assistance with chores/help on a more regular basis going forward.
Please find attached below a link to their website as well as a short montage video of their mission.
Thank you for considering it.

You know Carlene, I woke up this morning looking forward to hearing your opinion about Bin Ladin being killed. I was little let down by your omission of the event in the Doggie Daily. But Ann's note about selective hearing made me think. Kate is way better about that now as she now thinks being called is the best thing that could happen. I always give her a big rub down when she comes to encouurage the behavior so now when I call her she comes over with her tail wagging. The bad thing about that is that if she does something wrong and I call her over in a stern manner to give her a talking to, my heart just melts when she comes over with her head hanging in shame but her tail wagging like I am holding a steak.

I wish you the best of luck in finding a timely match for Bernard, he deserves it.

WELL I HAD THOUGHTS ON BIN  LADIN- B UT MOSTLY I ONLY HEAR SNIPPETS OF THE DETAILS--- WHICH I AM SURE WOULD BE FASCINATING.

LIKE--- THE DETAILS OF COMPARING HIS DNA TO HIS SISTERS BRAIN DNA-- I WONDER WHAT PART OF HIM THEY CUT OFF FOR A SAMPLE.

AND  FEEDING HIM TO THE FISHES WAS BRILLIANT  I REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHO THOUGHT OF THAT........ - SOLVED ALOT OF PROBLEMS-- I KIND OF WISHED MAYBE HE WAS NOT DEAD WHEN THEY REMOVED A PIECE  OF HIM THEN TOSSED HIM -- BUT THAT IS CHILDISH ( I SUPPOSE).

DO I DARE WISH OUR COUNTRY HAS DECIDED TO ATTACK A PROBLEM WITH INTELLIGENCE ??

OR IN THIS CASE  FROM RICHARD LORD ( FROM AUSTRALIA AT ADI CONFERENCES) TOLD ME THEY USE CANINE "ALLWORMER"  FOR EVERYTHING---- WHICH IS AVAILABLE TO  COMMERCIAL ORGANIZATIONS (RESCUE AND US) VERY CHEAPLY  COMPARED TO THE REST OF THE PRODUCTS-- LIKE DRONCIT  @ $35/DOG

I SPENT A LONG TIME YESTERDAY....HANG ON TO THIS CONCEPT

TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE CHEAPEST RELIABLE TAPEWORM MED
WHICH MEANT I HAD TO  GO FROM
MG TO KG
 KG TO LB
CC'S TO ML'S
CC'S TO OZ (FLUID)
 OZ TO POUNDS
GRAMS TO KG
KG TO POUNDS
AND IN THE CASE OF ALLWORMER
US$$ TO AUSTRALIAN CURRENCY
AND OF COURSE
AUSSIE TIME  TO EASTERN STANDARD TIMEN ( EST BUSINESS HOURS 7PM TO 2AM)

WHICH THROWS IN   ?? DO THEY DO DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME?
OR LIKE THE SCOTTISH  DD TIME ( DOUBLE DAYLIGHT) TO WHICH THEY REFER AS "DAFT" TIME.

ALL BECAUSE OF THE LITTLE RICE BITS ON MERLOW( AND A FEW OTHERS) BACKSIDES.

TURNS OUT THE ALL WORMER FROM AUSTRALIA-- ALL THINGS CONSIDERED--- IS ABOUT $7 PER DOG
100 PILLS FOR AN 88 POUND DOG IS $482.  PAYPAL AND 5 TO 10 DAY DELIVERY  FREE

WE EXPECT-   BERNARD TO ARRIVE-  I EXPECT TO BE ENTERTAINED--- AND CHALLANGED.

BERNARD REMINDED ME THAT THE BRITISH WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE  HAT PROBLEM ONE STEP FURTHER - STARTING WITH  THERE IS ONLY ONE PLACE TO LOOK FOR YOUR HAT TO START WITH-- IT IS ON YOUR HEAD.  THEN YOU DEAL WITH THE REMOVAL THEREOF.
****************

THERE WILL BE A DISCUSSION OF 2 VANS OR 3 TO GET TO NY.

2 VANS  FOR EITHER 7 OR 9 PEOPLE 5 PUPS AND 3 DOGS MIGHT MAKE IT A LITTLE COZY
WAITING TO HEAR IF DRESS BLUE'S MATT AND HIS MOTHER CAN COME

MARIA IS VOTING FOR 3 VANS-- BUT THAT WOULD MEAN 6 PEOPLE WOULD HAVE TO LINE UP AT THE DANVERS ENTERPRISE OFFICE AT 8:30  WITH LICENSE IN HAND  ( 2 DRIVERS PER VAN)   WE EXPECT TO GET BACK TO IPSWICH AFTER MIDNIGHT--  SLEEPING BAGS IN THE GUEST HOUSE MAY BE FOR CRASHING BEFORE DRIVING HOME.

AND THERE WILL BE EQUIPMENT  ( FLOOR PROTECTION MATERIAL  ETC)

MMMMAAAARRRRKKKKKK-------
COULD YOU BE PERSUADED TO DO UP ONE OF THOSE POSTERBOARDS WITH KATIE-- BIRTH TO JADE---- AND HUDSON--- BIRTH TO KEITH
AND REMEMBER IT CAN ONLY PROMOTE  TOWER OF HOPE-- NOT SERVICE DOG PROJECT.
THEY WERE VERY SPECIFIC ABOUT THAT

WE COULD NOT DRIVE OUR OWN VEHICLES TO NY AND BACK FOR $99

HOW WORLDLY ARE WE????
I’ve been following you from afar, and here in France, you can worm everyone with a gallon horse-and-cow version of “Panacure” (French brand) (principal molecule “fenbendazole”).
There is no marketing authorization for using horse medicine on dogs, of course, but the principal molecule is the same in both.

AND OF COURSE ANNE IS IN DENMARK- THAT IS ANNE THE PERSON

AND WE HAVE ANNE--- THE DOG  --- ONE OF THE MERLE GIRLS ( ANNIE BELLA AND MAUDE)
Annie is doing great! Just had her annual physical and she is very healthy! The vet was surprised she was 7 and a half years old because she looked so good. A few skin tags but nothing bad. Eyes and ears were clear. She is still on her bladder incontinance (sp?) med because she dribbles during the night. Other than that she is great!
She loves the kids and is very protective of them. Everyone says how sweet and well behaved she is. We have gone to the beach several times and I let annie run free. She just loves running on the beach soooo much!!! Soon we won't be able to as much because people start going to the beach.
Annie eats better now that I have kids... not sure why but I no longer need to sit next to her while she eats. She just eats everything and she asks for a milkbone still. But her weight was 115 lbs. She is great...
