CLAUDIA BOHEMIA'S TYPICAL PHOTO OF 8 DANES LINED UP ON LEASHES...  THEY ALL WERE THE SPITTING IMMAGE OF CHAOS... STURDY... LEG IN EACH CORNER....I STARTED TRYING TO BUY A PUP OR TWO..-- YOU NEEDED TO RESEARVE THEM AHEAD OF TIME... WHICH I FINALLY DID.... EVEN THO THE  NICE 8 HOUR  FLIGHT FROM FRANFURT WAS IMPOSSIBLE DUE TO RABIES REGULATIONS... I FINALLY GOT A MALE MERLE--- POOR THING HAD TO FLY FROM PRAGUE TO LISBON TO BOSTON-- BUT ALL NICELY MANAGED BY PETAIR IN FRANKFURT...-- HE AARRIVED...... GREAT CHUNK OF A THING.... AND WE PARKED HIM WITH A FAMILY--OVER THENEXT 2 YEARS. BY WATSON....AND I PULLED CEE CEE OUT AS A POSSIBLIE BREEDER 2 YEARS DOWN THE ROAD.... LONG- BUT TYPICAL ROAD...CEE CEE RACED UP AND DOWN PUPPY HILL-- SLEPT,...SNORED,  ATE, PRODUCED PROPPER  POO. ALL ON SCHEDULE.. EVERY SIGN OF A GOOD DOG.. AND BECAME ONE OF MY BEST. HOPEFULS.......FOR THE NEXT LITTER.

 

YOU ALL MAY THINK I AM ONLY NAPPING IN THE CAR.... BUT I WATCH THESE PUPS.... STANDING AT THE FEEDER GIVES ME A LOOK AT THEIR REAR LEEGS...  RACING AROUND NOT HITTING THE  TREES. MEANS THEIR EYESIGHT IS FINE.. AND THEIR CO ORDINATION.... IF  ANYTHING WAS NOT QUITE RIGHT, WE LET VOLUNTEERS TAKE THEM AS PERFECT PETS...  WE GAVE HER TO  A FAMILY IN PEABODY. TO LET HER GROW AND SEE WHAT DEVELOPED...—LOVELY DOG... NO COMPLAINTS

so as we stagger through they veterinary examinations that are now highly recommended by the AKC from hips to eyes elbows heart lungs toenails you name it... I sat around in absolute terror that they would find some reason we should not breed this dog---crooked teeth or some other such.. it was awful.  2 to have to wait for blood work to come back or X rays or EKG's or ultrasounds.. it was more than difficult on me because well I could see was a perfectly good dog.. finally yesterday Thursday we got the final on her saying that all systems were OK.  I am old enough where they don't ask don't tell system of verifying health worked for 80 years so I was not thrilled to be put on hold well someone waited for a CBC report to come back.... and I had a lot to say about it still do

 it was lynn's idea and I have to admit she's right but that doesn't make me happy about it so when we finally get the OK on CC.. we then are faced with.  the the fact that both of us had an opinion of Sir Richard which was not particularly complimentary but he was our only choice.. and the color combination would work fine CC big black with white and Sir Richard being Merle with a little bit of white....

so yesterday Sir Richard appeared on schedule and I am delighted to say he is a thing of beauty all the bits and pieces of him that grew at different speeds have finally evened out and he is a showpiece and apparently a very nice dog so for all the nervous breakdowns I have had so far that does not mean I'm free and clear

 

the next problem believe it or not is I hope Sir Richard likes CC because I know in my past we've had a boy one that really was not that attracted to the girl one and if you think complications can happen boy that's a big one at any rate we will be asking Sir Richard what he thinks of CC hopefully later on today and hopefully he'll like her we do know he's capable because we did a DNA on puppies in that last litter that he had  BEEN INVOLVD WITH...???...and one of them was Sired by him.

I KNOW THE DISASTERS OF HAVING ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET -- AND I KNOW ABOUT STORIES LIKE YESTERDAY 13 PUPS WITH 12 BEIG STILLBORN - MOST ALL OF THE COMMUNITY OF CAMERA PEOPLE   ARE PREPARED-- YOU HAVE BEEN AROUND.. THINGS LIKE STILL BORNS CAN HAPPEN- FOR NO APPARENT REASON... I HAVE SUCH GREAT HOPES FOR THIS BREEDING-  WE SHOULD BE ABSOLUTELY FINE--   BUT....

LAST NIGHT'S BOARD MEETING ENDED WITH  THE STORY ABOUT THE DANE BREEDER IN   IDAHO?  WHO HAD 13 PUPPIES. WITH 12 STILLBORN   "CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT PEOPLE WOULD SAY IF THAT HAPPENED TO US? "  AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON IT COULD NOT HAPPEN TO US..-- WE DO HAVE A WONDERRFUL COMMUNITY OF FOLLOWERS  WHO HAVE LEARNED THAT THERE ARE PUNCHES  WITH WHICH ONE MUST ROLL....I AM TRYING TO RESIST CHANGING BEHAVIOR BECAUSE OF FEAR  OF "THEY".

 i had red hair-- my mother had brown then  white from a very early age..2 sisters-- brown hair.... my father had black hair-- this became a topic of conversation  with father's monthly poker  party..  which caused him to raise a beard every once in a while...  because... his beard was red.   so much for the study of genetics of the day.

well... not quite....i am no expert--- heck. i am hardly a beginner past mr mendell and his square. of x's and y's.  however when bryan( dvm)  summed  up teh breeding of dogs with. "it takes two to tango"- that has caused me to spend hours  studying-- "if... then"......all the dominant and resessive posibilities of  "boy meets girl..."    -- there is soooooo   much. to think about beyond the knee jerk reaction .  when you look at our all over numbers, our health record is super....not to be confused with perfect. 

the entire topic of dog health drives me nutts on a daily basis...

how nuts ? you may ask.... let me tell you....

every  morning the  first thing i do is open the emails-- and scan them for recipients emails--- i quickly click on the first- which has some subjet matter usually the dogs name---at which point my #$%^&*()  computer.  will decide to tell me the weather report for fairbanks alaska--- my blood pressure will go from  normal to "off the charts". as i try and persuade this machine to. tell me what the recipient has to say about their partner.  i am terrified something is wrong either health or training wise-  it is sooooo bad... that  i finally asked recipients... including  bella's mom to put "george is good".  on the subject matter.... so when i am forced to wait for news, i don't have a. nervous breakdown. "what happened... what   did i miss?"   ...... believe me ,i am fully aware of the more than critical part these dogs play in their partner's lives.....i do not need a review lecture on that topic.....  

problem is--- it is also a fact..  teh recipients will all probably outlive their   current partners....sorry for the downer...-- so concentrate on teh 6-7-8  years of  a wonderful life with them.  and when they need to retire--- let them-- we will do our best to find you.  a second round,

may i remind you   "medicine is  both an art... and  a science".   i am sure someone said that.

 Late start. exciting evening,,,, new recipient ----cheryl o'neil----in the guest house-- and it is the only building on the property without instant on generator.... soooooo 8pm... no electricity--- and with difficulty and a car,..... we managed to get cheryl in the"sun room " on the couch ( a twin size mattress) with her new dog,..... which meant... jiminey  and larkey were banished to the condo-- siz and bent in my room... so they were all set---- and we just had a lovely early morn coffee. .. WHEN I SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING THIS DD...... 

 

 the instant on generators behaved perfectly-- thanks to bud and his ever inquisitive reading of the manuals, he found a new battery was recommended every 4 years.... and just 3 days ago repplaced one.. 

--------to be in a position of being prepared for emergencies is a new phenomenon for crazy acres-- usually we are 100% REACTIONARY AND RESPOND ONLY TO WHAT HAS HAPPENED ALREADY...  

lynn has arrainged  transportation of the next 2 pups with this veteran with car-- drive anywhere deal... so they will arrive nov 12...

meanwhile bryan. (DVM) is on the lookout for possible dogs for us.... -- he is basically a horse vet...so he looks for. soundness like no other dog vet i ever knew....

moving on.. looking forward to. possible oncoming disasters......  the indian restaurant is open only 2 days a week?????  with a big sign in the window " HELP WANTED"

i have heard restaurants are desparate for help--- you hear all sorts of things on the national news..... but never think it will affect yor community...-- and now ... the indian restaurant????-- the one in groveland with the italian pizza / gas station sign out front???? can't find help?????

i got to like indian food when i learned to say "mild"--- that food has some very special seasonings--if that "mild" is applied..

school kids today.   ---lift and carry types..  just when i need them to put all my  gems back in the hay loft..

.and i have absolutely no reason not to hang up all teh "stuff" that needs hangng----

a true sign of winter approaching.......

i have gone so far as to  move the tooolbox  off my golf cart and put it inmy  car...( heated)

My car could challenge the tiny house qualification as it serves as my office specially if it's parked within telephone range of the house------luncheonette ----------kennel for 4 dogs------nap taking place------- for  a few less delicate functions by  parallel parking next to the forest an opening both doors provides necessary seclusion on occasion.. BBB warm and dry---is basically all that's required ----heater works  wonderfully.

 

it is getting slightly scarred--- shall we say---even though I'm allowed only two collisions a day before someone will remind me that at the third collision in one day I'm to stop driving----- consequently I stop driving at two so that I just don't get in that range however the house has been a problem it seems to move around a little bit especially since I've got this wryneck and I can't turn and look that where the house is that moment so in the last couple days I've scratched the back right hand Fender on the House---- not the dentied--- scrape the paint off as I back around the house at least 25 times a day---- my children or a few others have been very kind to label the post underneath the deck with some pink duct tape ----and put a post on the other side so I don't go off the Cliff and I know that if I get between those two markers there should be nothing behind me -----since I can't really turn my head anymore and rely on my mirrors----     I'm usually pretty good except for the mirror that I have now bent--------- the complications of aging are significant.

 

I was supposed to do some tractor pushing of the mud yesterday before the 5 days of heavy rain which is already started I may get to do that today but the the tractor does have hate and air conditioning but I still have to climb up to get in it and as of yesterday I had not only a wryneck bu t a wry i right leg hopefully better today.

 

5 days of rain it's going to make that area impossible so I really gotta brave the storm today literally..  I have all those system of gates organize so that I can just open all the gates and move muck around without having to get up and down off the tractor..  so I just need to have someone get me going which could be the school kids as they break for lunch I could have them open all the gates for me.  

 

Out West farmers have systems of gates they open and close to make various things happen and those gates are all very well organized however----here at crazy acres.  the The gates got added one at a time Willy nilly..  so it lacks  the overall pre determined system... but it does work.   ----- If I could just get all that muck into the manure pile then mark will take it away to the number 3 compost file.. with the storm coming today----- bud worked overtime getting tremendous piles of leaves dragt to pile number 3 by raking and blowing them onto a tarp a big tarp dragging it with the golf cart.

If ever we decide 2 reclaim some of this forestt area we will have enough topsoil to raise onions---the number one topsoil at the moment is 3 years old and been churned up with lime pretty regularly couple times a year.. it's between the pond and A path.....  wonderful black dirt which hopefully has absolutely no soda cans or hey string.. very particular about that got a hidden hey string in the topsoil can raise havoc with a lawnmower four years from now

 

there's money in dirt...  nice dirt..  heavy concentration of organic material my father knew that raise on the value of dirt.. first is the joke we're the city folk offered the farmer $50,000 an acre for his cornfield and the farmer said you come round with a wheel barrel and I'll give you $50,000 worth of my land.”

 

the construction company that did the bulldozing before we built this house offered to build the house for nothing if we let him make the whole area flat in other words he was going to truck out all these hills and users fill in land which didn't support normal household living we have wonderful dirt here we didn't do that.... And.... the woman who came to do our soil test for the septic system for the house said that we could operate a small motel with the soil and the tests that she had done which is about what we got going on now

 

and I have a friend who's brother played polo and owned a piece of land with a great big hill on it he told the world he was making a polo field for practice which was almost true but in the meantime he made a fortune selling all that dirt but they hauled out of there to give him the flat field he needed to play polo unfortunately he died before he got to play polo on it So what his relatives did was to allow the community to dump there manure piles there on this big flat area so that a couple of years later it's covered now with topsoil and a local farmer uses it to raise corn -----the wheel turns

Another shocker to me

I have never heard of corn ta tossing I think it's called and I don't understand how it's competitive however a very nice woman from New England biolabs came and said that she had been the champion corn ****** New England biolabs and that they had equalled her winnings which she was then to give to some very deserving local charity which she decided was us------ I was very thrilled to accept the check for $2000 I don't know how she got that with this corn tossing but..........  she took one look at our arena and said you really have all the qualifications to throw a corn tossing event here so my ears immediately perked up not knowing a damn thing about it I said of course we could do that she pointed out the fact that there was beer drinking involved and  didn't I. have this no liquor policy here in the property but I said in some occasions I could reverse that for the few hours of a corn tossing whatever contest especially if there was to be a significant donation to service dog project in the meantime and the end that they bought all their own byo nbis hopefully it was just beer.

it took me a very long time to realize that I did not need to be drinking to act foolish and silly I didn't need to do that I was very capable of doing that on my own and furthermore when I went into a bar I no longer blushed when I asked for a coke or ginger ale they don't care as long as you pay for it I made life an awful lot simpler but I realize other people to may not have achieved that status yet and have to have the beer to have the fun alright I could make allowances

----but I also have noticed-------- thanks to camera mark -------there is an alternative... to having too much beer---- he has a collection of hundreds of hats and on occasion he will bring out those hats and get everybody wearing a hat -----at which time the whole place turns into a very happy bunch of nuts running around smiling giggling and with a hat on which is not an awful lot different than sometimes the beer business the beer business can turn nasty whereas I've never seen the hat business turned nasty and I'm told that in Argentina the wearing of hats at parties is a it's the way they loosen up the crowd.. I do think that's true

so if you ever want to experiment with it let us know and I'm sure that mark let you borrow his hats or even better start your own collection of hats and put one on a whole bunch of people and see how it relaxes them the argentinians have that correct

n an effort to keep any persons. research time worthwhile I will dictate some bloodlines for you to check out and see if you can see any correlation between the cardio problems that are possible in the five sudden death that we've had in the past ten years whatever..    I'm sure all of you know by now that stitch dropped while running in the woods chasing deer which was one of his favorite things to do. terrable shock for Janine and olaf but after they got over the shock they realized he had a wonderful life sleeping on soft beds and eating pounds of butter off the kitchen counter---- when you have animals you have animals----they do die....---- I can't say anymore but I have been up for a long time now studying the 482 dogs that we have on file in our master list and doing out the pedigrees of the five that are noted to have probably died of heart attack & just so I get people started on the right track I will dictate the initial bloodlines so you can start tracking and see what you come up with. This will be unbelievably boring for anybody not wanting to track so I would suggest you just don't even read it all   I'm very pleased with the way it looked at the moment becaused the five dogs involved when you work out their pedigrees they contain bloodlines from four or five different European countries so unless you think the dog from Denmark is going to be obviously related to a dog from Hungary you have to make some assumption ---as I did --- that they're probably not related -----so the imported dogs are just labeled with an eye when it comes to further pedigree----- when I started this I was absolutely sure it was Walter- who had a cardiac problem. Eventually uncovered after breeding...  ...  --- but having worked it all out I'm not so sure because it's got to be the combination of a couple dogs which is hard to figure out---- so starting off with sto who parents were grommet& Opal which means the grandparents were Walter Merlot bumpy and olive-------- Burton was bumpy and moxie for parents and grandparents thumper Lindsay Bobby and Luna moving on to-.  etta.  parents gromett it and may grandparents Walter an Merlot and may was imported Sumner was Cole and Misha grandparents Jasper and laney who was imported Bentley and Scarlett was imported and-------- then stitch the latest was tigger and sizzle grandparents Watson and Reese Walter& Noel to do out his pedigree one more generation reese. is Bentley scarlet and Bentley is bumpy olive.  noelle is thumper Luna thumper is Mr. A from Canada and bitsy with busy being diegel pipi--- Luna would be diegel Hillary---deagle. being imported from belgiam   All those dog names are tough to dictate. but for those of you who know the dogs you can probably figure him out.. looking at the whole picture of those five dogs most of them at least the ones I've done so far have bloodlines directly imported from at least five countries----- sto is Denmark Hungary Canada Netherlands and there's a New York State dog way down there---- Burton is Canada Hungary Netherlands BMW and a New York dog----etta -- Denmark Hungary Canada Netherlands Germany and BMW I mean that's well spread out over 4 or 5 generations I I think anyone is going to have trouble with telling us we've bred them all wrong------- that I just don't think that's going to happen and I don't think we did a-------d what I probably should do is give you a sample of what I started with with BMW------ BMW kennel. of Long Island was the winner of the Great Dane dog show in New York many times owned by a woman named Laura who really knew her great Danes---- I've gotta hand it to her---- and when I bought a female from her and she bred it for me she bred my dog to her genetic brother----- same father and the mothers were sisters----- so you can just see the duplication a bloodlines there -----the only but familial breeding that I know of-in our lines is.  thumper who jumped two or three 6 foot fences in order to breed his daughter Lindsay which produced bumpy who was a wonderful dog and we did use him as stud but that's the only what someone would call wrong bloodlines that we have----- historically the AKC or some people in the AKC------- swore that linebreeding ------like brothers and sisters would     purify your line----- I never went along with that idea and I always in cross bread as much as I could possibly manage currently we are waiting for the CC to be breedable and I expect to breed her to Sir Richard who's from the Czech Republic ------which once again will introduce a whole bunch of genes that can't possibly be related to anybody else we have and Sir Richard I haven't seen him lately but his mother is one of the top show dogs in Europe---- supra ------is her name--- and all the fancy ways that the German people rate their dogs she is very highly rated in her pedigree for whatever that's worth it has many show dog titles what I would like to know is how many 12 year old relatives she got but they don't they don't tell you that part but she has had her heart tested and all that sort of things along with their hips   raising animals is a crapshoot there's no other way to say it stitch was a wonderful dog and he had a terrific life with janina and olaf. but now you think back to win we were sorting out his litter which involved wanting to save the good ones for breeding... i.e... stitch.. janine and  I tried very hard to keep stitch as a breeding male----- he was a nice looking dog but there was just something about him that just didn't quite cut the mustard one------- of those things I don't think I could ever put my finger on but------ as gorgeous as he was ----we decided to have him neutered and placed as a pet. ----- I can't I can't tell you why and I just don't kno- w --------but something struck us is just not quite right looking at that dog pictures I don't think you would find a better looking dog anywhere which would be what barely prized breeding material but both Janine and I figured he wasn't quite there as it proved out he wasn't -----unfortunately neither was jimny --his brother who had only one male appendage where he was supposed to have two------ so he had to be neutered.   and the other one in that litter they kept the numbers kind of screwy was the fact that. Mulan. died because chaos punctured her skull when she bit her ----------it's things like that that throw off statistics so you have to be very careful.  FATE IS A THING WITHOUT A HEAD  A PUZZLE NEVER UNDERSTOOD AND MAN PROCEEDS WHERE HE IS LEAD  UNGUARENTIED OF BAD OR GOOD. ------- OTHER THAN THAT..... THE BAHMITZPA WAS A HUGE SUCCESS -- KIDS AND ALL HAD FUN-- STEAK TIPS WERE MARVELOUS...... WITHTEH RESULTING $1500 TO SDP....   i tried to include the picture of our tree of bloodlines. but i ccan not make it work.. sometimes it does.. sometimes it does not.... hopefully you cn find it somewhere.

 pictures don't lie????? oh yes they do.... teh advertising world is full of it...from the day someone made scotch on the ice spell out the word sex,   to today when facebook has made an art of distortion  and innuendo-- and it is never to compliment or 

Never a happy tone but  ----  it can be USED........it's a way to rip and tear at anyone's life or livelihood at random and there are thousands of people just waiting to rip and tear on anything negative-- it's the way of the world----- but it's extremely upsetting and does so much damage -----as I said so many times trying to write this daily doggie there is an awful lot of things I would like to get into ---present ----whatever but I don't dare for what somebody else could do to the whole conversation so when I say pictures do in fact lie it can go way beyond that pictures or quotes can be used  to do all kinds of damage.. there's a simple one in the breeze right now------ it hasn't hit the media that I know of it is a picture of a person with a Great Dane sitting I believe---- a bus station I have not actually seen this but I've heard a great deal about it------ and the dog is proceeding to drool it has about a 6 inch piece of slime hanging underneath its chin -------the guy I think it's a guy----- who's sitting there with his legs crossed just takes his foot and swings it underneath the dogs chin to get rid of that six inches of slime before it lands on somebody's eyeglasses or mirror------- I dare say it's a very common maneuver for Great Dane owners presented with the drool------- sometimes you just want to get rid of it and the cloth speaker will do it very nicely -------but it looks for all the world like the dogs getting kicked in the head------- unless you look closely which hardly anybody does they would much rather have someone suggest the dog is getting kicked in the head----- and let that thing go viral snd   present a horrible situation people are like that----    let me tell ya...  I could ask every Great Dane owner out there have you ever done that and I bet you get 90% would say yes your foot is a wonderful way of eliminating drool and rule is a very big item with great Danes especially if there's food around but watch out but no one get the photograph of you're doing it for fear they decide you're battering your dog with your foot---- it can happen—

 

It's so easy to assume by people who are very negative anyway but if you had your foot near that dogs head you must be kicking it----- I am positive that the owner of a dachshund would never think of trying to move their foot underneath their dogs chin--and can't imagine why anyone would want to try will they have NOT it lived with a Great Dane so they just don't know... that's no excuse for diving in to the pit of negativity that is so often enjoyed by people watching any relationship between animals and people.

COLIN POWELL—ONE OF MY MOST ADMIRED HUMANS---  HAD A BUNCH OF PROBLEMS—I BELIEVE PARKINSON’S  WAS ONLY ONE OF THEM..  AND HE HAD ALL HIS VACININATIONS...—BUT PICKS UP COV ANYWAY. WHICH “CAUSES HIS DEMISE.”   .. INSTEAD OF CALCULATIING WHICH DISEASE WAS BATTERING HIS IMMUNE SYSTEM IN TH E FIRST PLACE...TO SEE HOW BAD THE COV HAD TO BE TO CAUSE HIS DEATH THERE WAS A NEWS LINE WHICH WAS DELIGHTED TO SAY THE VACCINE WAS USELESS......WHEN IN ACTUAL FACT THE VACCINE PREVENTERD HIM FROM GETTING COV FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS EVERY TIME HE WAS EXPOSED.... UNTIL HE FINALLY CAUGHT A SIMPLE COLD--- OR ATHLETES FOOT... AND THAT WAS JUST ENOUGH TO TIP THE SCALES...

THE SPEED AT WHICH A STORY HIT’S THE NEWS IS SOMETIMES  A TEST OF THE VALIDITY.... The story about: Powell hit the news so fast there was no way anybody could have tested anything the try and figure out what actually killed him---- by the way he was exactly my age

 

 

on to happier topics--- WE we---service dog project.  are putting on a portable chating today in Winchester add someone's bar mitzvah--- hopefully it will be very entertaining for the guests of the family as we pull in with our tables and and Tarp. and scales and toilet paper and tweezers and paper cups and mops for my hair as judge and my judges Cape and an awful lot of other things that are needed to put on a proper shATTING..THEY ARE DONATING THE PROCEEDS TO SDP.....  AND HOPEFULLY HAVING FUN DOING IT. For awhile I had trouble getting group had go with me and there's no way I could do this alone but Haley will be there and Judy then and anN  her husband said they could join us and maybe Cindy so that again hopefully we can continue to sell quick picks well we set up.. I'm not planning on taking the big tent today because it doesn't say it's going to rain I had visions of having to put that up too but I don't think we're gonna need it--- It turns out well and becomes something that we could do for anybody else meanwhile doing it for ourselves at the same time of course it is a fun fundraiser.

NOW ABOUT TRYING TO TRAIN DOGS ON A DAILY BASIS ... WHEN EVERYTHING YOU DO GETS DISCUSSED ON CAMERA... IT IS DANM DIFFICULT-- THESE ARE NOT GENTLE  LITTLE COCKAPOO'S. BUT 130 POUND HAPPY DOGS. WHO VERY OFTEN HAVE TO BE SEVERELY REMINDED WE ARE NOT AS STRONG AS THEY ARE.. FOR ANY ONE WHO WANTS TO COME STAND AROUND AND SAY "PLEASE DON'T DO THAT". COME RIGHT AHEAD...IN TEH MEANTIME... WE NEED TO  REMIND THEM. WE DO NOT LIKE TO PLAY HARD LIKE THIER SIBLINGS....  THE OLDTIMERS -- CHAOS AND BENTLEY CAN STOP THEM WITH A VERY LOW GROWL-- SOMEHOW WE NEED TO BE RESPECTED THE SAME WAY-- AND ESTABLISHING THAT AY BE A BIT ROUGH TO WATCH....  IT IS NO RUOGHER THAN WHAT THEY DO TO EACH OTHER...  SO PLEASE...  i'm. slightly  better---- i still can not easily  check for traffic at an intersection...having spent the afternoon mostly .. not in bed... but on bed.... watchine verizon's channel 134 (?maybe smithsonian. or nal't geo?) two topics ------a huge  candy making factory in britain.. from jelly beans to lolly pops---  the mechanization of a lolly pop was fascinating--- then we got to the ruination of the cod/fishing industry by  overfishing--  we were doing fine in row boats and sail boats-- but then found that sonar in ships teh size of teh queen elizabeth  was easier, more profitable and horrendously short sighted.  if teh  industry at that point made it illegal to sell girl fishes-- or better yet-- passed the rumor around that eating girl cod was detramental to  a man's  urge to recreate so many more people who w ould then be  needing the cod for dinner.---would have saved teh entire cod industry...

all that got us to fish farming--   

blue. something or other--- in the Caribbean-- 8 miles from  shore--- monstrous"double pyramid" shapped netting... baby fishes hatched on shore  and transported to a open hatch at the top of this pyramid --- --- then came the interesting part... for me...  ok so how do you feed them????  turns out.. another ship rigged with   tons of what looks like dog food pellets. makes teh round daily - spewing tons of pellets while baby fishes get all excited and gather round-- it was applying some things  i am familiar with to a whole new industry.... somewhat like the commercial hatching of chickens.--  things like..... if a motor broke down and they were 4 hours late... the fish would startt eating each other... and at $300,000 a netfull could be detrimental to business..

but the real problem of the story-- unresolved to me... what  is the size.. or consistency of fish poo---in relation to the size of the holes in the net and the pellets they were feeding????

i  did hear of one lumber company planting a tree for every one they cut down-- at least a start-- maybe 100 years out of whack.. but a start..

farm report

 i  have located our painted lady... she was at ann's  ( groton house)--  i was told to go get her-- and one other... so with matt following  teh trailer we started for groton house.. ar roult 1-- this is teh road from nmaine to florida.. i stopped at the light only to have someone bang on my window to tell me. "pick up the male too".  how or why janine was at the same stop light at that moment, i do not know-- but matt did find our painted  donkey-- along with a spotted male-- both now in a pasture at meridith resaved for questionable snifiley noses.

while i was gone. teh purina delivery arrived-- i wqs told it was just teh wet-- one pallet. 1100 pounds which is more than the tractor will lift-- so they deloiverof a dropped tailgate on the ground leves and we deal...

turns out it was also the 8 pallets of dry also. which does need the tractor to unload... luckily mark was here and is the usual tractor operator...   by the time i got home it was all stashed  away...   all 192 bags of it-- i have only to get the 8 pallets to the street where someone takews tehm....  teh purina pallets are very nice ones....... so they are gettting good use too.

 i miss our old cake days to the fire departments every 19th,.... but this cov ruined that-

last night -- was like we went back 10 years...  i had 2 phone calls about a bird in th barn......i wish anyone even thinging of calling would get in the  comment column and talk to others... AND GET EVERYONE'S CONCENT BEFORE YOU CALLLLLM.   certainly there are times when you should call...let me list a few...

A HORSE HAS A FOOT IN A H AY BAG ( TAXI)

OTHER THAN THAT... THE BARN IS CLOSED ABOUT 7pm -- AND EVERY ANIMAL HAS ENOUGH WHATEVER TO GET THEM THRU THE NIGHT AND MOST LIKELY , I HAVE GONE TO BED AND ARE COUNTING ON ENOUGH SLEEP TO START AGAIN THE NEXT DAY..  

APPARENTLY LAST NIGHT AN OWL WAS IN THERE... I HOPE HE CAUGHT A RAT FOR HIS DINNER.. WE HAVE MANY HEALTHY GRAIN FED RATS-- AND THE OTHRE WILDLIFE IS IN CHARGE OF KEEPING THE NUMBERS TO A MINIMUM....

I HAVE NOT YET LOCATED MY CORN KETTLE-- ABOUT A 24 INCH  WIDE AND HIGH    CORN COOKING POT--- OVER OPEN FIRE...  FAMOUS FOR THE DAY I aKED 2 DOGFESTERS "THING  1 AND THING 2......." TO START A FIRE UNDER A POT OF CORN... AND TOGETHER THEY BOTH LOOKED UP "HOW TO STRT A FIRE" ON THEIR PHONES...  WHICH PROMPTED MEATCUTTER STEVE TO TELL THEM HE STARTED FIRES WITH DRYER LINT STUFFED IN AN EMPTY  TOILET PAPER ROLL...     --  WHICH IS WHY I GET THOSE AT MAIL CALL... -- THAT CORN KETTLE IS SOMEWHERE-- STUFFED ASSIDE BY SOMEONE..-- AND LAST I KNEW IT WAS FULL OFSOME VERY INTERSTING CHESS PIECES...  ALOT OF THEM...

 I THOUGHT FOR YEARS I WOULD FIND IT IN THE "ROOM" IN THE TRAINING ROOM... NO T SO.. SO THE LAST PLACE WILL BE THE "CAGES " IN THE ARENA....  THAT WERE LUGGAGE LOCKERS AT AN ASSISTED LIVING PLACE...
