this heat is getting serious.... and we are well under control at the moment....with 7 different buildings and 3 instant on generators... but .......
some weather guy just said hot til mid september--- which will be dog fest..( another topic at the moment)
i can remember.......(it is a part of the dd... my memory) the worst case scenerio i had was a bunch of household pets---all in cages--for a commercial in the concord area..went there at 5am... no problems--- and then....... i started home at 4pm all the cages nicely placed under a tarp in the back of the pick up.... got on 128 highway--and traffic stopped ... luckily i had a full tank of gas-- the cab was airconditioned... except....all thos animals in crates were in big trouble--- so i had to get out... in .. parked.. traffic.. other drivers helped and we packed all those crates in the cab and we all made it home... but that was awful....even if close calls don't count.
yesterday ... my toyota did not keep up with the a/c and i was reminded of that horrible pickup ride......so i am thinking... why take my dogs out in my car if i don't actually have to...maybe wait til a rainy day??.....or we get to sept. .... and keep the tank full....
welllllll there is another a/c car story... ? jerry? got stuck in slow traffic on rt 1 south of boston. she had her bulldog with her-- they are prone to have breathing problems any way--- she could not keep the car cool enough and the dog died right there along the road.
i think i will call this a weather emergency. which may necessitate adjusting our procedures like maybe slapping up a fence so the "under-deck" could be a potty place if we end up with dogs in the cool cellar. 3 sections of that pig panel stuff could save alot of trouble.
the arena is just plain uninhabitable til next fall-- someone blaMED THAT ARENA ON THE FACT THAT THEY COULD not open the regular people door in the back.... we have had both side "garage door" open... with a 4 foot fan in one and still not been able to use the arena.. so that one little back door would be no help.
we might decide to feed indoors for the moment. at least lunches at mid day......
we have to pay attention..and consider worst case... the "what if's". ..... like the a/c in the barn quits working-- that is 18 dogs to get into a/c somehow---our cellar would be a cool place... but multi dogs... some not pleased to have friends so close... and poo... or heaven forbid--- one or two wwith upset tummies.. loose stool.... disasters have a way of multiplying... the deagle house and nutt house both have a/c units.. and each of those could pack in a few dogs... and teh condo,,.. we could get down to one in each bathroom...
donna is supposed togo to london this week.... she has a daughter there.... who is coming home in the fall... i would rethink that one.. tv this morning talked about a 16 hour delay in london.... runways buckling.... i don't do buckle.. actually i don't do airplanes unless necessary....
i can rememberr...... a while ago my grandson decided he HAD to go to Australia. and he did... i think that was when coiv hit and the airports became impossible as everyone tried to get home... he eventually got a big fistful of cash.. and got on the only plane he could and ended up in new Zealand. where cash talked too and he got on a plane to the states from there. i don't think he ever got his "luggage"
we get too used to the staqtus quo.....
