THE NEWS SAID WE HAD 4+ INCHES OF RAIN LAST NIGHT-
I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE--- THERE IS NO MORE THAN 1/2 INCH INTHE LIVING ROOM .

I NOTICED IT AT 3AM--- AND TRIED TO BLAME CHAOS- BECAUSE SHE HAD EARLIER REFUSED TO GO OUT IN THE RAIN -  PEOPLE HAVE COMMENTED ON THE SIZE PEE PUDDLE SHE CAN MAKE-- SO WADING AROUND  IN THE DARK  I WAS SURE IT WAS HER.

THEN IT HIT ME
ACTUALLY IT DID HIT ME--
DRIPPED RIGHT ON MY HEAD...  FROM SEVERAL PLACES- BUT BLESS THAT NEW ROOF... IT DID NOT DRIP ON ANYTHING ELECTRONIC-- OR ALIVE ( THAT I KNOW OF----  I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE CHIPMONK THAT MAY BE LIVING UNDER THIS DESK.)

IN MY FIRM BELIEF IN FATE-- I CAN ASSUME SOMEONE SOMEWHERE DECIDED OUR FLOOR NEEDED  WASHING --- SO AS I HAVE DONE IN THE PAST WHEN FACED WITH A SEMIFLOOD--- YOU ADD A LITTLE DISH WASHING DETERGENT... A DROP OR TWO OF CHLOROX-  AND VACUUM IT UP--

TO BE PERFECT--- IF YOU DO THAT MID STORM-- YOU CAN VACUUM IT AGAIN AFTER THE RINSE CYCLE.
***********
PUPPIES---
ONE BUNCH  SHUFFLED OUT--- ONTO THE THE BACK ROOM/COVERED DECK ACCOMODATIONS-- WHILE MOM( OLIVE) OVERNIGHTS WITH PRISCILLA

THE CHAOTIC TRIBE HAS NOW ENTERED BARKING/GROWLING PRACTICE PHASE.  THEY DO NOT YET HAVE ANY CONCEPT OF APPROPRIATE TIMEING OF "THE BARK"

CHAOS HAS CLAIMED THE 2  "PEOPLE PILLOWS" ON THE SOFA  AS HER PERSONAL RETREAT-  I CAN Hardly blame her-- while i was bottle feeding themn yesterday one crawled up my shirt and bit me--
in the confusion of shirt climbing the pup ran into something resembling a circle-- grabbed it and bit -- hard...
i hesitated to share the location with the assembled group of volunteers- but let me assure you-- those teeth are sharp.

I WONDER HOW I COULD WRITE UP THE WORKMANS COMP ON THAT ONE.
AND WHAT KIND OF PHYSICAL THERAPY WOULD BE COVERED BY INSURANCE....
I BETTER QUIT THERE.

I HAVE A SKIN DR APT TODAY AT LAHEY-
I WILL GET DANIELLE TO INSPECT THE WOUND.

 DARN  PUPPIES--
THAT DOES IT-- THEY ARE GOING IN TO DISH LAPPING 101 TODAY-

AND FRIDAY--- CHANNEL 5 NEWS IS BROADCASTING FROM TOPSFIELD-- SOME KIND OF ZIP TRIP STORY - SO I FIGURE WE SHOLD GET THERE WITH A REPRESENTATION OF SDP-- LIKE PUPS IN THE BABY CARRIAGE PLUS A FINISHED DOG OR TWO.

HOPING K3 CAN COLLECT HER HUSBAND IN MILITARY UNIFORM FOR A 6AM APPEARENCE..  THEN A SMATTERING OF LOCAL VOLUNTEERS

GEORGE IS GONG TO AFRICA--- HE OFTEN DOES-- HE IS A PHOTO NUT---
PROBLEM BEING--- I DID NOT NOTE THE DETIALS-- BUT I  HOPE IF LUNA IS PREGNANT--- IT IS NOT WHILE SHE MIGHT BE DUE.

NORMAL DAY-- OUT WHILE THERESA - AND MAYBE PC.... CAN PUPPY SIT--- IT IS MUCH LESS CRITICAL NOT THT THEY ARE LEARNING TO SCREAM IF SAT UPON.

I CAN NOT THANK  HEYDAWG'S FAMILY ENOUGH FOR THAT COUNCIL OF AGING VAN
DAILY WE ROLL AROUND WITH A TANGLE OF DOGS/VOLUNTEERS// WITH MEGAN DRIVING.

"WE RATTLE AROUND ON OUR LOPSIDED BUS-- WE GO FROM DAY TO DAY "  WASN'T THAT THE  BROADWAY SHOW "PIPE DREAM"  AKA SWEET THURSDAY--  GOOD MOVIE TOO... I THINK..  I MAY HAVE TO LOOK UP THOSE WORDS-- BUT THE IMAGE IS GOOD.

THE INDY REPORT ---- DOIN GREAT !-

I AM VERY GLAD HE HAS INDY-- SHE IS DEFINITELY NOT A STAY AT HOME TYPE

Tuesday
Indy, my son and I got a late start after breakfast and went to the barbershop. She did great with all of us waiting our turn and seems to have an uncanny knack for deciding when I'm a bit uneasy and helping with that as well. She was a bit unsure of what was what when it came time for me to get in the chair and get a haircut. She was very intent on every move the barber made but with some reassurance she decided it was OK and was back to checking who else had been to get a haircut recently. Later that afternoon we were off to a Veteran meeting and passed out many Service Dog Project cards. She was a star there and shined bright. when it started she layed right down beside me. Even when things got rather loud and animated she stayed right there quiet beside me.

BUD WAS CONCERNED ABOUT VETERANS MEETINGS WHICH CAN BE "ANIMATED"
I WOULD LOVE TO IMPLY IT WAS OUR MARVELOUS TRAINING--- BUT IN FACT IT IS PROBABLY THE SAME THING THAT MAKES THESE DANES VERY POOR ALERT DOGS FOR THE DEAF.    NOT MUCH IS WORTH DISRUPTING A CHANCE TO SNOOOOOZE.

large news--puppies are no longer contained by an 18" barrier--- and mommy olive spent the night at priscilla's  apparently  without distended milk department.

so they are--- at the moment-- all over my feet, the kitchen , and terribly close to chaos domain
therefore everything they leave behind is all over also

thank heavens for the empty water bottles

they willl be moving to the deck/room with it's 3' bARRIER--and none too soon
**********************
the other news is -- there is horse manure in the coa van..  which needs cleaning.

3am phone call from the police  was i missing a small horse?
  honest answer??   lord knows

because-----janine called from the n.j. kill pens ( where they auction horses by the pound for transport to the slaughter houses in canada and mexico-- another whole topic  -try google hope 4 horses)
jANINE SAID SHE HAD 4 YOUNG HORSES ABOUT TO ARRIVE LAst night at 8pm-- because they were from that collection of horses-- and often sick from passing germs around-- they had to be in quarentine-- we are the quarentine barn..28 days before they go to whoever sponsored their rescue.
which meant-- from n.j. she had organized a  trailer to  arrive about 7pm to remove her riding horse  to a safe barn-- just before the trailer full of "4 young horses" got here at 8.
"the black one was $35
must be small since she was buying by the pound...

that is why when the police called and said they needed help catching a small horse on linebrook road.... i did not have a clue if it was ours.
but i went---i was 1/2 awake anyway with hungry puppies at  midnight.
\
small horse indeed-- a few inches taller than our dogs-- with extremely brushed full white  mane and tail-- looked like some kid's 4h project.
i caught it with no problem- and there we stood -- me - 2 policemen- one annoyed pony and blue lights flashing at 3;15 am.  now what??

i did not think it was $35 worth of pony by the pound....  so therfore probably not mine.

i offered to go back and get our trailer--but when it was unhooked it was not on a block-- and no way could i lift it onto the durango's hitch.

the ambulance would have been my vehicle of choice--- but it has not been started in weeks--
hence the horse manure in the coa van/
and that was not easy -- it reared-- the policeman pulled-- i pushed and it landed in the van's  alley--- and then in the V pen by the t tent with the gate tied shut.

which is why we need to get the horse manrue out of the coa van.

the owner called and  will be here 8:30 to help  hopefully megan and paul hook our trailer  so we can get it out of there before it catches something from the bunch in the barn i have not even seen.
******************
mary seems to survive these visitors--

-------------
tess is our next project-- she is a lively gal-- bent on sharing the seats in the van..
*************
i must away... to deal with 9 destructive  beasts  and tom with his shirt on backwards.

the indy report
Missed sending out an update yesterday. Think the week and weekend caught up when we finally sat down Indy and I both were done we made one more move and that was from the couch to bed...though she only protested once or twice as to why Steph got to sleep with me and she got the air mattress on the floor.
When we were getting ready to leave the hotel Sunday we spent more time with a coupe nieces and nephews. Indy did well with them jumping around the room (high energy). She also did well with the gallons they had which she was not sure of when they got closer. Then I wasn't sure of them in the room with those kids at all.
Indy and Archie are doing great. She was slow at first with both of our dogs but faster with him. They are playing now as I type. She finds Xena curious and is unsure but no longer fearful and they follow each other from time to time. All eat together fine and she seems very relaxed.
Being rested and eager to continue what we started last week I went with Steph to the Market. She was wonderful and responded even though I was giving the wrong ones. So, we did it and in a pinch she will get me there again. Good to know one of us knew what we were doing.
anyone wanting further education about equine problems should look into  the premarin ( a hormone prescription) and the foals that are a by product of that production.. ( pregnant mares urine).

as volunteers at SDP you just can not tell what help will be needed-
bud2 and indy left at noon yesterday for bud2's grandmothers 90th birthday party in conn-- chaperoned by megan and hillary --- it was to soon to send bud2 off by hinself with indy--- and she is too well bonded to him to leave her here while he went-- sooooo-- off they all  went
i am anxious to hear  how indy and bud2 did..
the nitty gritty is always the  interesting part.
as will be karen's classroom with didi-
karen wrote a wonderful thank you letter  to all who helped with didi--  but i am waiting to hear the details - like school bells and  the special needs students that karen teaches.
******************
hillary 2 and daughter  helped molly and K3  fill in yesterday.
it gave me a chance to start work with hillary2.  she has applied for a serv  dog- and has a strong basis in dog obedience-- a little stronger than will work with service dogs-- so we went for a walkabout with bailey with small piece of string as her collar.
you can not COMMAND these dogs to work-  they have to like it-- and you have to like them and thank them .
somewhere i read of a seeing eye dog who's owner was too heavy handed and the dog walked the guy into a tree.  i can see that happening-- not necessarily as "i will teach that guy HIS manners"  as "i am so confused i can't remember what i am supposed to do......WHOOPS.. ACCIDENTAL TREE"
whatever.   these dogs have to want to work for you- or the partnership will not work.---  if i see that developing in a team that we are trying to place... i am afraid i would have to decide it is a  no-go ... and not place the dog.
these dogs love the work-- and they are not tools.

FUNNY STORY
priscilla and i decided olive was bored with motherhood -last time she went home  for an afternoon with pc she had a great time --- and did not rush to greet her pups when she came back-
we are feeding these 9 pups regularly and massively...
so it seemed logical that she would like an overnight away from them- and priscilla took her home yesterday afternoon-
at 11 pm last night-- they were back-  apparently the pups were nursing more than we realized  and olive waddled with swollen  underbelly directly to her pups and stood while they nursed her dry.
then she went home again...
pc is an RN  so the discussion naturally turned to the possibility of breast pump.
********************
ahhhh    just now    word from bud2---
Short update for our first day. We, Hilary, Megan, Indy and I arrived after a crowded drive down to Windsor CT. Indy did well ignoring the confusion at the front as someone tried to extend the clearance of the entry. we checked in and met up with my family.
Arriving at the party, found a table in a corner... won't say quiet as the music was too loud but Indy did better with that than I did. She achieved boredom despite frequent visits from the little nieces and nephews in the family.
Only thing Indy has had any difficulty with is...who is this other lady sleeping in her spot now and why can't she sleep up on that bed.

Thank you Carlean and everyone at SDP.

Vaylu is the amazing best !! My Al, has been in the hospital 3 days now. Southern NH Medical Nashua,NH. Vaylu is the Happy in a place that isn't. I had requests to bring him to some people who are really down..What a way to lift my spirits as I deal with my own Drama...Vaylu PROUDLY enjoyed doing his thing~~Being the Best Helper available!!! He made a better day for some who are so sad...I was told that the hospital may put us in an article for their staff paper.. hope so.. SDP shines and I want everyone to know..Love, Dawn & Vaylu

and it sounds like jade and katie will be doing AAT visits also
jade asked me about it--  it is her call-- as long as katie seems to enjoy it-- go for it.

today schedule
stew - per usual- i hope megan and hillary appear  from their conn. jaunt..
a slow day for me since i did not really get much sleep - i am more than slightly addicted to clean sheets
chaos does require midnight snacks  etc --
she is acting a little depressed and i hope seeing earline and paul today will perk her up.  temp is nearly ok  but i think she is bored...  those little dears are up on all 4's now.  if we can just make one more week til we can give them solid food.
i gave them a bottle last night and had a conniption with those toenails and determination to pursue the bottle.

Aug. 6, 2011

i do not know how all those linkden things got sent out to everyone in my address book-   i send this DD out blind copy to try and prevent this stuff.

i am annoyed-  but that is energy poorly spent

i am hoping everyone gets sooo much of that stuff that they  are not angry with me
************
do i now have to get paranoid about the machines around me???
is my  coffee maker studying my every cup??
************
i prefer dogs--

the two "problem pups"  taupe and gurgle  are doing ok  with special handling.

taupe is cheerful -- lively-- plays with mom when out alone with her..  next time i feed i am going to try feeding her in the same dish..
maybe he needs a demo model to improve his lap technique

and gurgle-- we are helping him/her to have priority at mom-- by bottle feeding the others more--- i don't yet know exactly what the problem is--- or if there really is one-- but my conclusion is  stay with the natural mom's feeding--by reducing demand of the others.

also chaos may have another questionable lump-- but every time i go to look... she is lying on that side
her temp is back to  102  close enough to normal-

out of my distant past... i think a cow in heavy milk production has a higher temp????
******************

bud2/indy  goes to his grandmnothers 90th party-- followed by  hillary and megan in a separate car as chaperones-- with the intention of his going home after---

indy is identifying well with him-- now following him and not megan or me-
we never actually got on a train-- but he spent time in the car at the train station with her listening to the noises..
that went well.. she is quick to learn.

megan--- take your camera with you and get some photo's that we can send to tower of hope---
************************
the 5 year plan got emailed and i sent 2 copies  sent snail mail to fred

it was a pain full process but probably shelia ( accreditation inspector)  was right  we should have  a paper 5 yr  plan
well we have one now..  thanks to anne's husband michael
***********

today schedule will be screwy  but i will probably be around all day...

-- no hillary#1  but hillary #2 and k3 will help this afternoon--

leaving molly and me slogging this morning....  hopefully some puppy sitters show... and they have to be puppy sitters chaos approves of  (of whom chaos approves... darm that english teacher)
*****************
i will have to give BUD2 the parting lecture about open car doors, happy dog, daily doggie reports....it may take 6 months to perfectly....and if you run into a millionaire with checkbook....

plus solve the harness ordering bit- or at least discuss it...

********
on to the next problem...

Aug. 5, 2011

the 5 year is done--- with great ceremony it will be mailed to fred today---  i would fedex it except it is Friday so that gains nothing except the prominence of the packaging

it is a work of art

well actually   it is a work of michael-- he makes a lot sound sooooo simple knowing full well the churn paddle can get stuck which screws up the butter production.
but.... it just might work out that way.

it assumes... more pups ( we have those) more people (there are a few in the wings) more kennels ( in the conceptual stage) which all depends on more money  -- let us pray  the stock market does not tank entirely today  completely depleting our donors.
**********
speaking of donors-- we are beginning to get a significant check from paypal...  mostly made up of people donating 5 or 10 $$ on a monthly  basis... most coming from this daily doggie.  thanks keep it up-- it helps-- big time.
 *******************
a dream wish of mine is to have you all  gamble $10 a month on the chicken bingo episode-     the way it works is  -- we have a wall-- set up by memsiac- where you buy a numbered brick
-  then at the end date
we set up our bingo table--anywhere  --  or here put a chicken or two on the table  and the winning poo gets $1000

the odds are better than the lottery

our 5 year plan is done--- now that is my goal---
it would pay the food bill--- you would get something for your " DD subscription"--- and it would also pay some of the oncoming spay neuter bills
*****************************
chaos may have boob #2 cooking..   she has something wrong-- as yet undetermined-- yesterday her temp went from 102.7  to 104.9 in 4 hours--- the 4 hours later it was back to 102.6
george changed antibiotic mid yesterday after gettting the culture sensitivity back   -
it was for the postpartum  vaginal drool--
if she has a second abscess--- it has not shown a puncture point  yet

i will feel better when we can get this litter on solid food-  paul fed goats milk to all except the gurgler  who then had full access to mom...
***************
thanks to Paul who slept with chaos last night-- -- i use the term slept loosely..

i/we could use someone for tonight-- it is possible to sleep a little--- on the couch with chaos
preferable a small person-- chaos is big.... but we will take anyone !!
*******************
i realized yesterday that bailey is one of our best training tools-  i gave her to volunteer joe (K3's husband)  in georgetown  with a  flimsy vest to be legal  and no leash to control her-- i should do this with all volunteers and recipients--- somewhere along the line, trainers  have to create a dog who will work with a person and a recipient who does not try and CONTROL  WITH A HEAVY HAND.
it is a delicate thing- the collar is a conversATION  TOOL-- AND AN EMERGENCY BRAKE.

HOW OFTEN DOES ANYONE USE AN EMERGENCY BRAKE NOW THAT THE CARS HAVE PARK.
THEN PAUL CAME IN AND SAID HE USES the emergency brake  BECAUSE IT IS THERE.... WHICH MAY WORK WITH A CAR--- BUT IS Detrimental to a service dog.

you must not tighten a leash because it is there..

using your muscles to control a dog is not going to work in the long run if you are dealing with an untrained dane.  conversely... bailey is highly insulted if anyone uses a tight leash on her-  if the leash is constantly tight even she would become resigned to being hauled around- and would cease to use her own head entirely
*******************************

being timid dogs  danes will eventually figure "this person knows what to do to stay  out of trouble and get back to where i can be comfortable and take a snooooozze"

some trainers have a problem with this timid tendency when it can be used to our advantage
****************
b2 has a few things to work on today   --- i have forgotten what--
and tomorrow he goes to his grandmother's 90th   it is too soo n for him to go alone--- and indy is bonding well to him so i don't want to stop that if we don't have to...  enter our registered party go-ers.... megan and hillary will go as  additional partiers just to supervise.
*****************

 clipping and pasting

Good morning Carlene,
A quick update on Hey. Doing exceptionally walking the school corridors with me. Very loose lead, no pulling and now knows the words "elevator" and "office". Last night we went to the Hamilton/Wenham BIG trucks display. He did a down as ambulances with lights flashing, fire trucks sicking their long ladders into the air along with other trucks with long appendages reaching for the stars. Lots of noise and action. Hey was bored.
Went to daughter Kim's for a cook out. Twelve children scampering about. Two feisty Chihuahuas, one 3 month old black lab and one Chow. Hey and the lab had fun chasing each other.
Today in my work parking lot, the visit to the fire engines paid off. Big construction vehicles were out an about. Hey, although cautious, walked me to the door. What a super partner I have.
WOOF
Hey, Gay and Jerry

george sent me an interesting take on the national finances i will send in a separate email

Aug. 14th, 2011

bit late as i am feeding gurgle every time he/she wanders around--- and the others now smell the food and raise a racket.
but he/she has a bit better "heft" to him/her ( some details escape me)

and chaos has taken to resting her head on tom's window ledge--- either she is bored with motherhood- or is looking for paul and earlene.
paul drove tom Sunday Monday tuesday--  and skipped the next 4 days- he is usually sun tues thurs
i am not sure she has ever gone 4 days in a row with out her  "person fix.."
******************
i will try and set 4 more posts today-- soon
slight delay til bud gets here and can make the chainsaw run-- i do not do"rope pull starters"  and there is an old post prohibiting me from pulling a line straight.

this morning  i ended up with the ultimate in jerry-rigging.
i usually plan these things on graph paper--- but i can't find any around here-- so i ended up planning the roof pitch on an old suduko puzzle grid.
i have my level ( 30 feet of siphon hose ) and a right angle ( 3-4-5 triangle of 8' strapping).  along with a  wrench  on a string for vertical.and  spoon to dig out as small a hole possible for positioning the bottom of the posts in -- the spoon doubles for  mixing concrete in a costco bucket..
(actually that  is triples if you count serving caserolles at the Sunday stew )
there is a big problem with the fact that i can not check the diagionals because the current building is in the way.
so if it turns out to be a paralellagram --- so be it--

***************
it is bad enough  for the neighbors to deal with the dogs barking--- i don't want to start the tractor before 9  to add to their grief.
*************
rest of today's schedule

megan will probably be takeing dogs out late morning---

i will be mixing concrete with my spoon--- in time to wash it well and serve food this afternoon.

paul and tom can go get a lot of marini's corn--- like a bushell--
somehow we will get a pot boiling.

hillary will be around helping cope with a lot of lively puppies

 my #1 thought---- frontline????

we are seeing that  same irritATION -- 2 even had 2"x4" oblong bald spots in that vicinity  that went away

i have heard odd rumors about frontline--- and with internet you never know who made up what facts based on thin air.  ???GEORGE ????/

#3 thought----that is also where  Some vacines are  given..

#2  HEY IT IS EARLY DON'T EXPECT PROPER NUMERICAL ORDER-
...? IS THE HARNESS RUBBING IN A Strange way-- which i hope you would have thought of yourself-- if soo fuzz might be indicated...
ms gave karen a lovely harness with fuzz to wrap around with service dog stitched across the chest--
problem was-- that left the velcor stuff next to her skin.

keep in mind the fuzz is for her-- not to look good.  put velcro--- or ANy stitching  away from her skin
************
so not knowing---  i can not even give you  an educated guess as to what to do--

i would have 2 approaches
A. the let nature heal it--- AKA the lazy and/or cheaper  way
B. stupid guess = benedryl- and be prepared for her to be groggy-  the benedryl label says do not operate machinery--- they might have said do not pull wheelchairs...

now i will put all thAt in the dd--- because it is pervasive??endemic???
(a bunch have the same thing.)

HOW COULD I FORGET

THE GAL KNOWN AROUND HERE AS TUCKER'S SMILEY GIRL IS ( TERRESA REMINDED ME).

Devlin - smiley girl from Saugus took upon herself to do a fundraiser  - duck tape flower pens - sold them and brought us a check for $75.00 and her mom brought us a wonderful  chicken and pasta dinner !!

WE HAVE A PICTURE OF HER WALKING TUCKER-- SHE IS NEARLY AS TALL AS HIS HEAD...  AND SHE MADE SOME AMAZING DUCT TAPE FLOWER PENS-- AND SOLD THEM -- GIVING US A $75 CHECK !!!

AND HER MOTHER IS ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO "DOING NOTHING MAKES HER NERVOUS"   a wonderful addition around here...

YOU GRAB A BROOM AND GO RIGHT AT IT !!

EARLY SANDY---  YOU SHOULD GET TOGETHER WITH HER--- WITH  YOUR SALT SHAKER PROJECT--- MAYBE WE SHOULD HAVE AN ARTS AND CRAFTSY TABLE IN THE TRAINING ROOM??.
I COULD ADD MONKEY FISTS????
*********************
FOX NEWS--  SOME OF THE CLIP IS ON THEIR WEB--- WITH MEGAN  DEAD CENTER WITH PUP.  I THINK TH E MOST IT DID FOR US WAS TO MEET MORE OF TOPSFIELD RESIDENTS WHO CAmE TO THE COMMON TO SEE THE TV PRODUCTION... AND WE DID MEET A LOCAL PRODUCER

FOX NEWS DID MENTION WE WERE AN IPSWICH BUSINESS  EVEN when  I PUSHED THE FACT THAT OUR VOLUNTEERS ( LORI) COMES FROM TOPSFIELD.

ONE NEVER KNOWS
*********************
CHAOS PUPS--  THE GURGLER IS FALLING BEHIND IN WEIGHT  SO I HAVE PREGROUND SOME PUPPY FOOD WITH A LITTLE GOATS MILK-- STILL DRY--- IN A JAR ON THE COUNTER.. OBJECT BEING TO  MIX THE SHOTGLASS FUILL EVERY TIME YOU SEE HIM AWAKE.
AND HE IS OFTEN AWAKE WHEN THE REST ARE SLEEPING--

DON'T GIVE HIM TOO MUCH BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN KNOWN TO OVEREAT AND THROW IT UP-- 3/4 THE SHOTGLASS IS PLENTY.. AND MOISTEN IT SO IT GETS "PRE-SWOLLEN"  BEFORE YOU GIVE IT TO HIM.
******************
CHAOS HAS IT DOWN PAT NOW... SHE GETS UP AT 2AM AND SHAKES NOISILY-- WHICH IS MY SIGNAL TO LET HER OUT.. THEN SHE COMES IN AND NOSES THE  TOP OFF EITHER THE PUPPY CHOW OR REGULAR DOG FOOD--- SHE ALTERNATES BETWEEN THEM... WHICH IS MY SIGNAL TO GIVE HER A CUP OR TWO DRY... AND FRESHEN HER BUCKET OF WATER--- SHE DOES LIKE IT FRESH...
**************
OTHER NEWS IS THAT UNLESS/ UNTIL WE GET A MAJOR INFLUX OF MONEY. WE BEST NOT START THE DEAGLE HOUSE PROJECT WITH THE CONCRETE FLOOR--
it would have to include the bulding inspector... my friend who
when i was putting up the arena-- told me i was making a mistake not to hire the contractor he suggested-- then told me "you are out of your league- you are only a woman"

therefore  I DECIDED TO REDO THE NUT HOUSE-- WHICH STANDS ON POSTS AND HAS A WOOD FLOOR.-
SO I WENT OUT AND DUG A HOLE-- MEGAN  AND HILLARY MIXED THE CONCRETE WITH SPOONS FROM THE SUNDAY STEW-
WE NOW HAVE ONE BEAUTIFUL POST.

I MUST AWAY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO NEXT--- BUT IF ANY OF YOU HAVE A DESIRE TO HAMMER NAILS ETC--- THAT MAY START TOMRROW.

RIGHT NOW I WILL GO AND TEAR OFF THE BACK WALL AND SEE JUST WHAT WE HAVE FOR SUPPORTS UNDER THAT  SIDING.

I DOUBT VERY MUCH WE ARE STARTING WITH A PERFECTLY SQUARRE BUILDING IN THE FIRST PLACE

I THINK IT IS CALLED "CREATIVE CARPENTRY"
*******************

I WILL SIMPLY BUY A BUSHEL OF  CORN FROM
MANCINI-S FARM STAND FOR TOMORROW'S SUNDAY STEW--- IF WE CAN  GET A POT BOILING OVER THE FIRE.

go watch local fox news

it is filming in topsfield and we are packed to go=== dogs..pups  etc

Indy continues to do well and adjust to life here at home splendidly. The family has decided that her siting on them is a sign of accepted as such we feel that our dog Archie has been fully accepted. She backed right up and sat down on him much to his chagrin. We have developed a  kind of ritual here, morning is play time then dogie breakfast followed by our breakfast and what ever the day holds.
Last few days have been Best Buy, which she did fairly well in, though seemed a bit intent on laying down at times on her own. Tried to explain to her that's fine but we need to work that out so as you let me know cause you do that when I'm hanging on and we are both going to lay down. Then the resteraunt tonight with my Father which was crowded. She was perfect. We were able to be near the exit and a wall and she layed there silently beside me bored as could be through the whole thing.
also it is grwoling practice day with chaos litter... that is wone of the funniest days of puppy raising.

bark and fall over backwards

Aug. 11th. 2011

i am soooo  excited-- last night was my last night in the chair til the next litter

not only that ... but olive's pups are (at least capable ofbeing) organized.

they are in the back room....on the 1/2 deck...
but with clever use of baby cages/ temp fencing ( who has more experience??) it is possible- after tom has gone to bed-- to turn the herd loose in the living room - not in contact with chaos puppy fencing-- so she doesn't mind-- the hoodlums tear around-- literally ---laying waste (also literally) to the whole area which has that lovely vinyl floor-  as they rip and tear both egg cartons and plastic bottles, i can clean up the waste that they laid to the deck and wash it--- put down new fluffy's and a cup of dry food on that daycare bed.
they do not know yet that the noise i am making means treats are available in my direction... but they will learn that quickly i am sure.

this will morph into 2 or 3 at a time in the  living room with the spoonfed dog food  which will morph into the 9 loose -- coming when their name is called-- at which point they will be better trained than a lot of normal dogs.
so i have arrived at the point where i see that training this 9 is totally possible

i was worried for one split second.
now all i need is a pair of janine's  knee high leather riding chaps to protect the  fragile skin on my shins.
today it is  colorful left over vet wrap-- bless that stuff  but it is all i have at the moment to protect me..
******************
AND FOR THE NEXT LITTER PLEASE... SOMEONE REMIND ME WE HAVE 3 ROLLAWAY BEDS---SO WE DON'T NEED TO SLEEP ON THE FLOOR.
*********************
i have to comment- since it will have it's effect....

along with garbage collection-- which by now you all know i respect much more than Congress activity... in my opinion......our legal system is in free fall- which is worse than wall street.

colleen has been trying to buy a house in boxford for months now.. a foreclosure deal-- first thing the owners dismantled the entire barn and sold it-- then after being told she would pass papers this week, now the owner - whoever that now is- refuses to sign--- she expected to own it this week and has all her posessions in boxes for the move- plus her "other" house is  on the market.

apparently there is no legal recourse anyone it able to take.
i suggested she move in anyway and try for squatters rights- maybe they can't do anything about that either.

why can't she just forge a bunch of legal looking documents and move in.
basically that is what the banks have done to get people out.

you hire a bunch of high school kids at $10 an hour to scribble some name-- 360 times an hour ( per 60 minutes)

where is what line drawn...?  who would throw them out???  do we now have local police deciding legal matters?
how can they when they are overburdened with loose ponies at 3am.
******************
i would love to stage A sit in....  i guess i better just watch.

a friendly neighbor ( RE lawyer type) said he would no longer even deal with gmac- because they just can not begin to deal  with what is going on..

apply that concept to  the perils of colleen-

there are several lawyers who get this...   like beth????
where is the help button.???

BERNARD AND MANNY-- LOOK OUR WORLD HERE THEY COME.

****
No sensible observations.Manny continues to look happy with a spring in his tail until he comes up to something he has not seen before..he does what comes naturally and gets over it increasingly quickly, groups crowding him are having a lessening affect on him and he recovers after backing away   and sitting down. I don't know where that comes from but as soon as "they" give him some room he stands up.
I am accumulating a small store of unwanted dog biscuits ...at least I think they are dog biscuits as they were all given to me at  drive through windows.Burness continues to launch herself at women and men trying slip  stuff down Manny's gullet and plays merry bells with international relations."What do you expect..English!."----- the last one said
I always say thank you and hide them.
We all went to our Great Grand Daughter's first Birthday.Very odd feeling being a GG and Ed ,my son in law has taken to carrying things about for me! We had to stay overnight ,we have had good treatment with Manny at Hampton Inns,, and so it was this time, but solve this mystery if you can! We went out for the last patrol and we filled two supermarket bags. I could not find a garbage container, they were not going inside the car and so I placed them under the car behind the passenger front wheel....out of sight.
Next morning we packed our luggage and before departure looked for my, or rather Manny's ,deposit..........................it Had disappeared.    Who,what, why or when I have no idea
Have been carded three times  last week

Shaws
BJ
Couldn't resist the Shaw's lady who came up like a class monitor to demand " Is that A MEDICAL DOG ?"

no "good morning, hello how's your father, what nice dog."

I fed her the answer I knew she wanted to hear and said no......" You will have to leave store immediately....I knew I done wrong sheriff but I then told her my companion's correct title, produced his ticket and ,not for the  first time, appreciated the organization and administration  behind SDP

I cannot think how or where else I could find my beautiful friend.Truly Words fail me

By the way, I found out that DiDi really doesn't like the rain. The other day, when we went to work at school, it was pouring rain. I waited for awhile in the car, but it didn't seem like it would let up anytime soon.  I only had a small umbrella (not a good planning technique) and then went to get DiDi. However, she took one look out the door and very clearly said she had no plans on going out in that mess. We had a very serious discussion, while I was getting absolutely drenched. Finally, she relented, and reluctantly got out of the car. It was pretty funny, although by the time we got into the building, I looked as though I had just gone swimming in my sundress and sandles. I sloshed through the building to my classroom, where DiDi gave me a very indignant look, and went to her cot and layed down. Since then, she has made it clear that she will not go outside to go potty if it is even lightly sprinkling, so we wait. She keeps me smiling and I am always surprised by her facial expressions and clear understanding of situations.

puppy progress

olive went home for "supper"---  minus pups ---with pc last night- i expected her to be thrilled to see her pups on returning.... i can not say she was thrilled.
that means--- if their feeding is falling to us-- we have to pay better attention---

--i have not seen them all drink water- so this morning we did a goats milk in a dish for  lapping practice-- and taupe is an ineffective  lapper---- along with a slow eater--- so attention is needed there ( the dark merle-- also  now the smallest) the rest are shameless gluttons.
*************
maybe today k3 could weigh them all on  lori's wonderful scale.
**********************
pc noted lori-- a regular--- is among the missing in the past few days..
 lori--you all right??

that is one of those questions---  if she is not all right she is not going to answer..
 hmmmm
husband off to denmark  and a few house invasions in boxford  so we need an answer to that  somehow
stranger things have happened...
**********************

bud2--- with indy-- doin great--
he is a library go-er--- so we did library and barnes and noble ( which had a starbucks)
and he took tom and i to dinner at the chinese restaurant.-indy was nearly perfect
paul sat the pups--
my other option was to put chaos in the back room for the short time we would be gone....
********************
they are getting older-they are belly off the floor- today-- and wandering far away(2 feet?)  from the puppy pile- or mommy-  to pee
************
olive's bunch have that nearly down pat... nearly.... they walk over their fluffy to the newspapers and stop immediately to pee.  which means the boys are within fractions of an inch correct-- but the girl's anatomy is such that  the pee does not make the paper ... yet.

and we have  manny

and the search for the proper winter person mover

Manny took us shopping so we could offload my Toy car for a proper winter person mover...last winter was brutal and with two cars meant for Florida weather we had a bad time of it. We sat in the dealership becoming frustrated by the dance we all have to go through. The only relief was provided by Manny who was having a not so good day.He was himself with all the people who came up to  and this may account for him being a little wayward in the down stay mode.
The salesman was truly a very pleasant person who seemed not to mind Manny putting his nose on his desk to rest (You know I am referring to Manny's nose on the salesman's desk).
It took two days in total and although I have read Haileys "Wheels" and have hired ex  car salesmen I found a modified  dodge being used.It is the sale old dodge as the salesman being terrified of the sales manager and having to check every detail if money is involved. We genuinely like the guy and burst out laughing when he introduced us to the manager and confessed they were brothers!
From a place far far away...Sicily...they actually were lovely people.
Manny has developed an instinct about when some walking help would be appreciated and appears without calling , he always appears on my right I realise it is my job to train him to go to mt left or do you think I should adapt? His instincts seem so ready I don't want to spoil his instinct

i definitely would go with the instinct-- people would pay good money for that  and i do not know how you teach a dog "anticipation".

maybe he is also telling you  you need more help on the right...????
at any rate 6 months from now- you could address the right  left problem

Hey Carlene,
I'm a little worried about Kate. She has been scratching at her right shoulder for a few weeks now. Ihad been looking for dry skin, gave her a bath, checked for ticks, etc. I have now decided I think it is joint pain. She only scratches at it when she is walking, she never sits down to scratch like a dog with a regular itch. The odd thing is that she does it way more when I am walking her to go to the bathroom as opposed to very rarely when she's working. Ideas?

a weird one  i suggested the harness might be the difference
i did not think joint pain--- because pain=limp.... not scratch???

YOU THINK THE WORLD IS NOT WATCHING???

ONCE-- JUST ONCE--  I  GOOGLE THE CONCEPT OF POURING CONCRETE UPHILL- I HAD SEEN TRUCKS DOING THAT  AND WANTED INFO..

WELL---- IN PURSUIT OF MORE KENNEL SPACE--- WE ARE THINKING OF ENLARGING THE DEAGLE HOUSE ALONG THAT RIDGE--- AND MOLLY'S FATHER IS  THE " J" IN-- JMASTERSON

I ASKED  YOU ALL FOR SUGGESTIONS  AND ---
THE ONLY COMPLAINT I HAVE ABOUT THE KENNELS IN THE BARN IS   WE COULD HAVE USED ANOTHER 2 FEET SO THE RAMP TO THE SLEEPING LOFT IS NOT AS STEEP.

OTHER THAN THAT  ----NO ONE HAS COME UP WITH ANY CHANGES.

SQUEEK NOW OR FOREVER....

PLANS ARE AFOOT... WELL ACTUALLY APLANE ... FOR MEGAN TO TAKE BARNEY TO ATALNTA -- SHE IS CONNECTING WITH KIETH AND HATTIE
THE REASON SHE COULD GO EASIEST ON WEDNESDAY IS HER MOTHER WILL BE CHIEF STEWARD ON THAT FLIGHT  --- WHICH COULDS SMOOTH ANY BUMPS IN THE ROAD--- OR CLOUDS.

THERE IS DISCUSSION OF BOTH RETURNING ON THE NEXT FLIGHT--- OR DELIVERING BARNEY TO THEIR HOUSE AND STAYING OVER TIL THE NEXT DAY.

OLIVE'S PUPS ARE OUT---AT LEAST DURING THE DAY-- ON THE 1/2 DECK-
TRUE TO EXPECTATIOS MOM IS NOT CLEANING UP AFTER THEM AS SHE ONCE DID----   I THINK IT IS BECAUSE WE ARE NOW FEEDING THEM SOLID FOODS AND HER OPINION IS  "IF I DID NOT PUT THAT IN THEM , I AM NOT PICKING IT UP WHEN IT COMES OUT"

CHAOS LUMP LOOKS BETTER-- BUT IS STILL A DEFINITE LUMP.
PER GEORGE'S SUGGESTION WE HAVE BEEN DRAINING IT WITH SYRINGE AND ON A DAILY BASIS GET OVER 60 CC'S OF GOOP.

THERE WAS THEN A HUGE DISCUSSION ABOUT HOW TO GET RID OF MEDICAL WASTE-
WITH A BACK HOE SITTING THERE, I JUST DUG A HOLE IN ABOUT 60 SECONDS- SQUIRTED IN THE GOO AND PUT THE SYRINGES IN THE "SHARPS" CONTAINER FOR GEORGE TO ?? INCINERATE???

IT TOOK LESS TIME TO DIG THE HOLE THAN TO DISCUSS IT..
NOW THERE IS THE  POLITICAL STATEMENT OF THE DAY

THANKS TO BERNARD AND MANNY  HERE'S HIS LATEST ESCAPADE

Our sudden appearance through Macy's door into the cosmetic area was as much of a shock to me as the department full of young women, there were no customers, quickly came to find out what this old geezer and this lovely dog were up to.
For my part I had got the landing all wrong and my feet were each going their own way.I cant say what part my pal played in this  but he still looked innocent.
This was the second time I had seen Mannie amazed and I thought his expression reflected what Bush called shock and Awe...maybe aw no!
You will know what palaces of lights and Bright things these places are like..I am sure they are intended to produce a numb reaction of buying something just to get out. There really were dozens and really bright you women wanting to hold the dog whilst I had a lie down...I saw Mannie out the corner of my eye and met a look which promised repercussions if I so much as even thought about that.
I remember the usual questions and had to ask them to back off as Mannie had somehow gone backward and reduced in size.Mannie had a conversation with me my ear to his nose and vice verso until he was reassured and our rescuers were recalled to base  by a person who looked like the character that poisoned  Snow White.Reassurances continue in 20 feet installments and Mannie and I were convinced I knew what I was doing.
The rest of the Mall looked empty and we chose a chair. There is something magical about Mannie and Danes in general.......within five minutes people were walking by and walking up to admire ans reminisce about childhood's filled with memories of a Dane. Mannie had recovered a good deal but I thought he need a break. We set off to TJ Macks.Price Choppers. No problems but by this time I judged that he had enough and set him for a comfy ride home.Slept like a log all the way home.
We shall be taking a short break to Bermuda and taking our best friend. We are working to try and ensure Pee and Pongs in designated areas.Got pees covered with the reward of hot dog poops a little more difficult. There seems to be a link food, time, opportunity. Look for our joint paper .
His coat is shiny,he is full of energy and affection and we are so grateful  to have him.
Remebering you all

July 31, 2011

the only back and forth mails  i had yesterday were between george and i- and some were pretty good
history of the case-- chaos has a lump--and since she is nursing-- it looks like it is a normal milk producing lump

well even if it is in the right location - and relatively size and shape- it had no nipple

her temp was slowly rising  102.5 so i started emailing george-- who is on vacation and  floating about on some lake.

"count her nipples"

we all crawled around the floor with the girls  counting nipples   and found

olive had 12
bailey 7
and chaos 8
i emailed george

george said 10  is usual   and to put her on amox and keep our eye on it.
well there is no dog on the property  who gets more "watching" than earlene and paul's favorite dog   chaos

and then it started to ozzz
"what color is the ooozz"
"clear drops "
"must be opening encourage it to drain  with a needle"
"as soon as i go pick up pizza"
"what color?"
"slightly darker red than the pizza"
"keep going with the amox"

we have really great vet advice- altho unusual at times.
*********************
now  after the nipple study...

it is about one facet of training
we went to dinner at the club- to use up our $300 before aug 1st--- and hillary handled bumpy perfectly-- and he looked terrific.
megan on the other hand handled fido much too loosely-  fido being such a friendly trouble free dog can be turned loose anywheree- so megan has got in the habit of forgiving his wandering.. she knows how he is thinking so she adapts the "oh go ahead"  --naturally he is taking it one step further.

it hit me tht we do a lot to define the difference between
 harness on=working
harness off= do as you please
and she is loosing that with fido

time to sharpen up that distinction.
*******************
i took bailey with me for a quick run to home depot and put her vest on-- but had no leash--
with a couple verbal "damm it pay attention" commands  she was on the button.. including stand and stay while i ran down a crowded aisle --- when i returned people were pushing carriages past her as she just stood--- bored...  perfect !.

fido used to be like that.

we have a ways to go with these pups before we have any up to the level of fido and bailey
*****************

today... Sunday stew normally
but my goal is to get the deck/back room  ready for a litter of pups
and we need a discussion about the size of the concrete pad on the deagle hill

jeff said they might have time to do that soon-- have a look at their other projects http://www.jmasterson.com/   i could not see on their web where they said "dead horses burried"
************
other project
and to dispose of the someday piles -- they are out of hand

the "someday i will"... jest ain't happenin

July 30, 2011

bless george--- he gets up early--- even if he is on vacation at some lake  because...
we have a booob problem

so the educational discussion  today is booobs

chaos has 8--- olive has 12
george says 10 is normal--- so much for normalcy around here-

but chaos' has a normal looking lump  of  size... shape everything looks fine--- but no nipple
lori noticed it yesterday-- and we all slid it around-- and wondered...-- it was soft --temp 102.1 and decided it was some mammalary complication because of the no nipple--  we even tried the laser temp taker which can take temps long distance  and the lump  was the same as the rest of her..

but today it is bigger-- and harder.. so i emailed george--- who said to put her on amoxicillin , keep our eye on it,otherwise he would be home tomorrow

i told him he could bring camera and we could take these olive pups out for a run around with mom-- offering him a teriffic photo-op.

the currency of the trade
****************************
training wise...
megan and i took pi--indy--noel and jasper -- steadied by bailey----for "intro to trains 101"  which involved backing up to  the tracks  at the beverly station for 2 hours feeding the dogs bits of pulled pork out the open back door.--- and after the 4th train most of them would stay in the back door eating forkfulls of pork.  when the first train came by the yearlings tried to climb out the front window----bailey had been there before and pi liked pulled pork too much to give up her spot.

it was a most relaxing afternoon--people came and went
one woman came by -- and i said   i bet you could never guess what this job is...
and she said"well i just came from goerge myer's office where they have a video running about some woman in ipswich   and this looks like the same group"
i lost that bet.

another  day of that and we can actually get on a train
******************************
megan is taking barney to kieth-- scheduled next ?Saturday?  megan's mother will be arrainging the flight---she works for the airline--- and last i heard might even be on a flight to atlanta that day
***********************

. bud2 is due here Monday to work with indy  so  he will have had only a few days training  which is a bit soon for him to take a car/hotel trip with indy... which means hillary may get the job of going to bud2's grandmother's 90th birthday party in conn.  perfectly good person for the job.

that "bumpy" is a gooood dog... she had him at dinner last night
in a desparate move 8 of us ran to the country club to eat up the $300  minimum before aug 1st.

that coa van looks soo  good--- pauul has been  cleaninig it up---  i had enough nerve to stop at the gate and ask for a window sticker-

************************

we have to get some better looking vests for these pups when we go out in public...
we do have one small one- but we have a lot of pups coming and need more than one

and on we go

maybe costco and somewhere noisy today with  indy
then stew tomorrow,

now in the dumb luck department---

i was near shaunessy  with indy---yesterday and thought i could wander in with out too much effort-- and it would be good for indy ....when i walked in --- in my best servce dog harness  and manner-- the receptionest asked "whither thou goest?" and  with absolutely nothing to go on i said  "5th floor" and turned to be relieved to see they had a 5th floor.  i was warmly recieved--- wandered around - got in the  elevatior and pushed 3rd floor  totally at random--- they were happu to see indy too.
then down to the lobby ( this is the exciting part) elevator doors open  and a woman said "carlene!    did you see larry??"
" i am karen"
i quickly ran thru all the karen's i could think of (   just 1--- karen who took didi to new york and that wasn't her.)
"don't you remember???"---- now i know she doesn't know me-- or my memory...
quickly she got into "polly... bailey...and larry- they guy from brooksby--- (into whos bed they had bailey jump)
THAT I REMEMBERED
BUT I HAD NOT STOPPED IN TO SEE LARRY-- I DIDN'T REALLY KNOW WHY I WAS AT SHAUNESSY  IN THE FIRST PLACE--- EXCEPT  IT was there.. so we went back and visited larry- and he was happy--

came out and--- indy made a beeline for the council of aging van
except it was not ours-- i made a significant effort to explain there was more than one coa van.

we should make an effort to go back with the red carriage-- the entire place would disolve--

george must have some subconscious feeling about bobby and his prostate infection....-- he sent us 200 pills-  the plan was to neuter bobby as soon as we determine we have no further possibilities of his fathering a litter. and he gets 2 pills a day-- by then we should have pups---

if he bobby works--- we might want to keep him on pills---
he certainly did work on the project--- adding to the education of gwen's legal friends--  after all---tail to tail is a awkward looking spectacle/..

chaos has a lump--- it matches the working nipples  but had no nipple-- george said to count-- we should have 10 matching
and earline finds only 8 on choas--

i did not plan this underlining-- but i have learned not to fight with the computer early in the morning---  if the little button does not want to work  so be it.

a very willful computer---
if we are going with so many good things fate has offered us---  we can just accept the permant underline
*****************

earline and paul stayed overnight-- finally getting the names of the black pups down pat

it is line a logic problem---  if 2pups have a black spot on their tummy and  there are 3 pups with  with the white spot  on their nose... which pup is the gurgler?

earline said none of them last night-- i left her with paper-- pen--- and  tom's stethoscope

SDP does pretty well on the pot luck food department

our Sunday food usually feeds the entire crew  til about Wednesday
then it goes to the chickens--- who give us eggs !!

paul got into the  Sunday sandwiches in the guest house at midnight last night.
let us pray... egg salad.. refrigerated mayonase--- should be fine...
there is always flagyl--- a lot of dogs are on it---
we have a big bottle--- and the only directions i have are .. not to use on pregnancy--- not  a problem with paul.
*****************
from our sojourn it karls german kitchen-- bud bought us  some  Wiesswurst  and appropriate mustard
then told me how to cook it
bring  water to boil
remove water from heat and add Wiesswurst
wait 8 min and serve with mustard

so we (all puppy tenders) ate that yesterday

plans?

normal day
getting indy  bored

July 28, 2011

there will be no brilliant remarks this morning

i had puppy duty from 11 to 7- for my second time in a week-

between the big ones insisting on a midnight snack--- and the little ones loosing track of mom and her cafeteria-- you don't sleep much

lori is here -- thankfully

we need to rig something on indi's harness to tell people to stay away-- we have had several recipients who do not like people coming up too close behind.  bud2 is one of them

with all the "is that a horse" comments maybe "stay back.. she kicks"

or i thought "wide load"

what do you expect----it was a rough night

July 27th, 2011

from last night's flatbread fundraiser
we got 1,183.32 !!!!    :)

mark was there camera in hand- and promises a tabloo soon

thanks  a bunch of people-- and dogs   fido  bailey --4 month old crimson  -- bumpy( father of pups)-- and 2 pups yellow and opal .

boy is bumpy a nice dog-- thumper like--- no worries-- kids climbing all over him as he looked like the regal lions of the nyc library???

couple observations--- amesbury is "alive"---- getting to be a second newbury-- instead of decaying brick factories-- much of it has been redone---

pups were starving when we got home--and olive was not thrilled to feed them-- so they ended up with some goats milk in a bowl-
they survived...

chaos had the shakes last night- and i am waiting for george to tell me if i should give her the bag of  lactated ringers from the last  episode.
megan can take her temp when she arrives.
and we will be making a costco trip for the olde tyme cottage cheese solution
**********************

today--- bud 2 gave us places he might visit--- for us to get indy used to--- one being swimming--- so janine--- here we come.

I am also going to try to figure out how to get SDP on ebay  as a charity. I'll get back to you on that one.

POOR MIKE IS TRYING TO SIMPLIFY SDP INTO NORMAL BUSINESS LANGUAGE--- FOR THIS 5 YEAR PLAN  - AND HE IS DOING A VERY BUSINESS LIKE JOB .
IT AIN'T EASY.
THE VARIABLES ARE HUGE.
*********
PATRICIA SUMMED US UP
lots of MASH-style operations and contraptions to make things work and fund-raising with mirrors, I believe. It’s all very down to earth, creative, heart-warming and purposeful.

It's very nice to see that HeyDawg has a new match.  He is a wonderful dog, and looks to be very happy with Gay and she with him.  I wish them well.

Poor Mike. I'll bet he has fun with this one

July 25,2011

pups are doing great---- i was /am still worried about 2 of the chaos pups--- but i seem to remember from having children 50 years ago  or something-- that in the first day newborns often loose a bit of weight before they start to gain.

all well and good--- but i would prefer all the pups to do the same thing-- so monitoring chaos pup's weight is critical
the green pup went from 1.4  to 1.3-- but this morning is 1.6 ( one pound 6 oz)

the female with the stripe and "wing" went from 1.11 to 1.8  i am suspicious of that 1.11-- could be operator trouble--- i have not weighed her yet... i was most worried about greenie just  from the looks of her.

many exiting things yesterday---
last night somehow earline fell with a pup-- pup was fine-- but screaming--with that  chaos lept to her feet-- with that "let me help you kill it" routine that you see in dogs when they are faced with a confused animal..  just try and walk across our yard with an angry hen in your hands..  you will need a second person to fend off the dogs.

personally   i think this  concept is behind so many children being attacked by dogs.     .picture a child screaming about wanting an icecream cone being dragged by mom-- and think - how does the dog see that???  same as the angry hen--- or scared pup..  even the best dogs have that flash thru their minds.

i will never forget having 8 well controlled dogs loose at a great gadsby party-- everything was fine til they started dancing-- and i realized the dogs saw that as fighting  and  the pack  started to circle the dance floor--- waiting for  the charge.

experience often comes from bad expoerience

and last night's episode means that overnight--- and mos of the day-- we should keep the "gates" closed between chaos and olive--  if one of olive's pups gets a paw stuck in the slots of the fence-- chaos might charge-

gates closed.
********************
David arrived-- ( as in tucker's david) he had fun relaxing with the pups and friends...
one of whom cut my hair beneath the "mister" -soaking us to the skin--- but it was hot !!!

many kids enjoyed both olive's pups - and that "mister"

*********************
this 5 year plan---  i put down on paper what might happen/should happen-
most of the people reading this ( prior to sending it to fred) i don't think have an appreciation of what 24 graduates involves- i still think 24 is a possible number

tripping lightly thru the numbers... correct me if i am wrong...
24 graduates possibley means 30 pups

which we now have( nearly)  these will graduate  2012-2013
by 2013 we will be out of dogs... unless we have more pups  in 2012  which would be the graduates of 2013-2014--- then one more time--- to have pups to graduate in 2014-2015means 30 pups in 2013

if you slice thru that time line-- at any time megan - colleen and i would be dealing with 24 pups in training--  a kennel person with volunteers would be waltzing around with  another 30

and volunteers would be chasing 30 babies around the plnd... sort of.

in other words we would have about 90 dogs on the property-
that is the number to focus on...
and it is do-able--  time wise--
we would need 2 more people

and everyone would have to accept training a  dog is done in 15 minute segments-- with a hell of a lot of sitting around drinking coffee "achieving boredom"

did that 90 dogs knock the socks off anyone???
*******************
 today
first off-- go take a shower  ( i slept with chaos last night)--
the coffee is helping--- but today will be a long haul..

the rest of the day teaching dogs to achieve boredom as i will be in blind stagger mode
and pistol wore out visiting canines in the pond--

this fate business is eerie

why alice wadley (pistol)  chose this moment to do the linkin thing i do not know
