now here is what i call good  FIRST HAND news....
hi carlene
Glad you and Bentley are doing better. My Dad had an run in with electricity before I was born. Leaving him with a long stay in the hospital and a huge hole in his arm. (As my siblings and myself were conceived after that incident, I would guess Bentley won’t be effected when it comes to fathering more pups). You and Bentley were very lucky and we are all glad that you were.
Regards,
Lynne

I’M A 2 YR. CP.  RETIRED AIR FORCE.  FRIEND AT HANSCOM FIELD HAS A FRIEND, ETC. AT MALDEN FD.  SOMEBODY THERE READS THE DD AND KNOWS THAT THEY WILL BE GETTING A VISIT SUNDAY.  MY FRIEND IS PASSING ON A REQUEST THAT THEY WOULD LIKE A VISIT FROM A GREAT DANE.  I TOLD HIM I WOULD PASS IT ON.

NOT THAT I HAVE EVER WON AN AWARD FOR TYPPPIN G AND SPELING, THIS WEEK IT IS WORSE.. I N NEARLY EVERY LINE I HAVE TO GO BACK AND CORRECT  ONES THAT ARE TOO IMPOSSIBEL TO  FIGURE OUT..... MOSTLY REVEARSED LETTERS-- THAT IS NEW...

HAVING TO TAKE CHAOS POINT S OUT WE ARE A BIT SHORET ON PERFECLY TRAINED DOGS...
I SUPPOSE DONATING  THEM AWAY HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT- BUT WE NEED TO REPLENISH OUR "STABLE'.. CHOAS IS PRETTY GOOD..... AND EVERY ONE LOVES HER LONG DISTANCE  BUT SHE DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH LOCAL FIENDS TO KEEP HER  OUT AND ABOUT IN THE REAL WORLD ENOUGH...  SHE   HAS TO GO TODAY...

jan 30 2016
time to  tidy up the mental processes around here.  we have alot of very bright people at sdp...problem is they have been allowed to develope some sloppy thinking--
fact--bentley has yelped several times yesterday- i want to know all the details about how when and why he yelped.--i asked a very nice intern yesterday " did you see him yelp?" and  she said "leroy  ran into him . and he  is sore on his left reat leg... probably when he fell in the elevator he...." ...and i stopped her.
i stopped her because when she got into elevator observations-- i knew she was  wasn't there.she bqacked off  and no-- she had not seen him limp on a left rear leg...no---  she had not  seen leroy run into  him. she nearly filled my head with 3 bits of info that would just clutter up my already disheveled mental filing system. now if she had said 'grace told me ....." then i would have filed away "ask grace"

i need to try and figure it out-- poor dog has PTSD- i dont know yet why the yelp... but i have seen him jump when the fireplace logs make that snap noise.-- and pam said he would not sleep opposite the fireplace last night  and slept in the sunroom. i know he does not like having the puppies bother him--  it is worse thqqan usual-- especially since these 2 pups are girls---he is usually very pleasent to girl pups.
i  certainly don't want anyone  to run in and hug him because  from these few yelps, i know we don't have the full picture of what is in his head.

nor do we know what is in my head... i realize i told everyone i had not lost consciousness... but i washed  gravel and pebbles  out of my hair-  plus i realize i don't remember th e elevator door shutting-   along with not remembering how bentley got standing up on my left side after pulling him out withmy right arm ---- there must be  a survelience camera somewhere-- i would love to see that..

i am noting these things not because  i think you might find them fascinating.. but it is my waay of keeping record of what is happening -- i am sure at some point people will ask.and being of advanced age...i don't want anyone to assume i would forget.

hearing bentley- or any dog  yelp is now causing  me to  jump sky high and give it my full attention...there is no way i could ask him to get in another small space  at least yet.. so it is life on the first floor for a while.

this gives me another appreciation of the  person who is handicapped- especially before  rules made comapnies put in elevators in the first place..
i never realized - when i was a kid-- all people with disabilities  could go to macy's and buy perfume and gloves which were on the first floor   but  never underwear and pajamas because they were on the third floor.
the ideology of why should corporations be forced to put in elevators---does get reduced individuals  beause teh people making those decisions have never had to goto bed with no jammies.

 it is  janine's -birthday
janine has had unique thinking  her whole life...thus reminding me of the  little book my organized  daughter gwen kept  of janine's sayings.. age 3--" when i get old i don't want to be a vegetable, i want to be a fruit."
it is also my sister frans birthday in colorado-
to be accurate  it is my sisters birthday here in  massacheuttes even tho she is in colorado.
we have a cp in her town...-- if you see fran tell her she made the daily doggie.

Hi Carlene:
I have to tell you a story, last night I meet up with some friends and my girlfriends son in law is a firefighter at the station, he did not respond to your call but his friends did, when they got back to the station you and the dogs were the talk of the station that night, How impressed they were on how the dogs were and you.

i do want it noted that even in that extreme situation bentley behaved perfectly..  especially since the animal control officer  had to give me a quarentine notice because of the "dog bite."-- she said it does not go on his record as a biting dog but they had no catagorie to suit  this situation.

Hi Carlene, I hope you are feeling better today.
I just thought I would share what Mia does when she is listening to Megan on the Trainer Talks. She is a very good girl and coming along nicely. We have a few things to get use too. she has come a long way.
Thanks again see you in May.   Mary McManus Sebastian Florida

i found this on my computer
The old fisherman saying “ a perpetual series of occasions for hope”
fits here perfectly. SDP in all it’s forms feeds the hearts and  minds and especially the bodies of so many.  A young tiny girl gets big old George to provide her freedom to  move and grow.  A veteran gets to leave the house and join the world, no mater how scary that is.  Most of us take our feet and legs for granted and can only marvel at the miracles we see.

I had lost a husband  and a son when I came  upon SDP and EXPLORE.ORG and in desperate need of those “occasions for hope”… and I found them.  People who walk  their talk.. the folks now picking up poo is just as important as anything else on the list… the ones who pull together 10 bucks a month for a brick to help run SDP… and those marvelous Danes who win our hearts every singe day.

We can all apply these lessons from crazy acres to our own lives and even better, sit back and everyday at 5pm( Carlene time) and laugh so  much our dogs think we are the crazy ones  ,.  Thank you for all you do/  the stones  you have thrown are providing ripples you will never know about.  We are so grateful.

MY WOUNDS ARE DOING VERY WELL .. FILLING IN TEH HOLES THE WAY GRACE DID--- WASH  OUT -BLOT WITH STERILE GAUZE,SQUEEZE ON NEOSPOXXXX  MASH THAT IN WITH VASILINE SOAKED GAUZE THE NON STICK AND GAUZE AND  THEN-----... BLESS THE CP'S WHO SENT THE VET WRAP !!

THE REST OF ME  FROM THE FALL IS HAVING SOME SERIOUS ISSUES...IN SPITE OF BEING SERIOUSLY PADDED, I HIT THE GROUND BIG TIME-- AND I TOLD THEM AT THE TIME I DID NOT LOOSE CONSCIOUSNESS- BUT IN RECONSTRUCTING IT . I DON'T REMEMBER HOW WE GOT FROM HIM GRABBING MY ARM AND ME PULLING HIM OUT---- TO SITTING AROUND HOLDING MY WRIST  -WITH HIM STANDING QUIETLY NEXT TO ME TRYING TO LICK UP THE MESS-  I AM TOTALLY MINUS THE PART FROM SEEING HIM CONVULSED-- TO HIM LETTING GO AND STANDING UP.-- MY ONLY CLUE I S  THERE WAS GRAVEL  IN MY HAIR WHEN I WASHED IT AFTER THE EPISODE.

GIVES ME ANOTHER APPRECIATION OF HNDICAPPED... LITTLE THINGS...LIKE DROPPING  PIECE OF PAPER-- A BAINDAID WRAPPER--- IT BECOMES A MONUMENTAL EFFORT TO PICK IT UP WHEN YOU MISS THE SCRAPBASKET..  AND WHAT HAPPENS IS.. I JUST DON'T...- SO I HATEE TO ASK TEH VOLUNTEERS TO PICK UP AFTER ME.. BUT AFTER MY DAILY BAINDAGE CHANGE-- THERE ARE 4785 LITTLE BITS OF STUFF AROUND THE TRASH BASKET IN MY ROOM.

I AM SURE I WOULD LOOSE WEIGHT  IF THERE WEREE NO VOLUNTEERS TO HELP ME...BECAUSE COOKING IS OUT-- AND DONNA IS SOOOOO GOOD AT COOKING STEAK...AND BEFORE  MY SHOCKING EXPERIENCE-- I HAD LOADED UP THE FREEZER WITH SOME REALLY GOOD LOOKING STEAKS FROM COSTCO-- THEY SOMETIMES HAVE "PRIME' BEEF INA VERY SMALL SECTION-- AND IS IT EVER GOOD.... WELL MARBLED--NICE !  CSOCO NORMAL BEEF  "CHOICE" IS NOT  BAD... BU THIS PRIME SECTION  IS SOMETHING TO LOOK FOR- EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO EAD MAC AND CHEESE FOR A WEEK TO PAY FOR IT.. IT IS GOOD.
*****
I HAVE LOADS OF PAPERWOK I CAN DO TO KEEP ME ENTERTAINED. I HAVE NOT BEEN OUT OF THE HOUSE SINCE.....AND THAT NONSENSE  HAS TO STOP--I MUST EXPAND MY CHALLANGES - PEOPLE TALK ABOUT CLIMBING MT EVEREST- MY CURRENT CHALLANGE IS TO PUSH THE FLUSH HANDLE AND TRY AND GET SOCKS ON MY FEET.  HARDLY AN INTERESTING EXSISTANCE...

I WILL GIVE IN FOR ANOTEHR DAY OR SO... DO A BUNCH OF IRS STUFF- SLEEP IN THE CHAIR NEXT TO THE FIREPLACE...  BUT THEN I HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE !!!!  AT LEAST RIDE AROUND IN THE TRACTOR.. I HAVE HEARD RUMORS OF A BIG SNOWSTORM????

Subject: Cakes for Fire Departments

Hi Carlene,
Couldn't believe what happened to you and Bentley. How many times have the Hey Dawg and I ridden in elevators never expecting the unexpected. Do notice the date inspections stickers and will be diligent do that in the future. Thank the Lord you are safe and healing as is Bentley.

Hey and I along with Jerry will deliver a thank you cake to the Wenham and Hamilton fire departments on February 19. Do send along your statement so we can represent the Service Dog Project correctly.
Stay strong.

WOOF, Hey, Gay and Jerry

AND THEN THERE IS THE BED....

 From Bella's Mom:

I have a feeling you will be seeing a lot of photos of these 2 monkeys on the Barker Bed! It seems this is the new favorite spot. Now Bella has slept on the Barker Bed 2 nights in a row. George has started with her and then moves to the twin. It's kinda funny that the human is in the dog bed and the dog is

in the human bed. Bella says the Barker Bed is super comfortable.

George did a little better in school today. Bella did take his jacket off so he could feel her holding on better. I also told her to switch things up a bit. George may be to comfortable in his routine and just focuses on going from point a to point b that he forgets he is supposed to be helping Bella get there

safely. A year ago it would really have been difficult for Bella to get from point a to point b on her own without george or crutches but now she has gained to much strength that she can manage to get there herself with less pain and discomfort. But otherwise they had a great day. Thanks for checking in!

BELLA IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT !!!!   I TOLD YOU ALL-- THAT BARKER BED FOAM IS SOMETHING ELSE--AND WE ALL HAVE SLEPT ON IT AS WE WAIT FOR PUPPIES TO BE BORN... I ASKED MR BARKER ABOUT ONE FOR MY BED AND HE SAID IT WAS POSSIBLE BUT EXPENSIVE.

NOW WITH MY LATEST INFIRMARIES I AM THINKING MAYBE NOW IS THE TIME FOR ME TO GET ONE FOR MY BED,,

JAN 28 2016

I GOT UP FULL OF ENTHUSIASM TO GET 2 THINGS DONE  AND BY THE TIME I GOT THRU MYE EMAILS THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS--- I BETTER JUST QUIT AND TRY AGAIN TOMEORROWW.

LYING IN BED (BEFORE IT TOOK ME AN HOUR TO CHANGE MY BANDAGES) I GOT 2 BRAINSTORMS--

TRYING TO FIND A POSITIVE TAKE ON THIS SHOCKING EXPERIENCE....I DON'T SEE WHY WE SHOUD NOT HAVE A CAMPAIGN IOF LOOKING FOR THE ELEVATIOR INSPECTION CERTIFICATESS WHICH ARE USUALLY POOSTED IN THE EOLEVATORS-- AND IF THEY AREN'T  THERE GO FIND THEM WHEREVER THEY ARE-- IN SOME OFFICE.. AND CHECK THE DATE OF INSPECTION.
I THINK  YOUR ( AND MY) TAXES PAY FOR BUILDING INSPECTORS TO INSPECT THE ELEVATOERS ONA YEARLY BASIS. AND WE ALL RIDE IN ELEVATORS SO LOOKING FOR THOSE CERTIFICATES  SHOUD NOT TAKE MUCH EFFORT - AND RESPONDING ACCORDING;Y PHONE CALL TO SOMEONE..  INCLUDING NEWS MEDIA..
THAT SHOULD RAISE HEII WITH  A FEW PLACES--

AS A MATTER OF FACT I CALLED LAHEY CLINIC- PERABODY ON HAVING VERY EXPIRED CERTIFICATES POSTED ON THE ELEVATORS--- AND I HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO TELL PEOPLE WHAT I AM LOOKIN FOR IN A CROWDED ELEVATOR ( CAPTIVE AUDIENCE.) PEOPLE SHOUD BE AWARE OF JUST WHAT TAXES DO WHAT...

LIKE PROVIDE CLEAN WATER... I HAVE A PROBLEM THERE-- IF IT WAS THE PIPES IN F.LINT..... THEN CHANGING THE WATER SOURCE  MAY HAVE MADE SOME DIFFERENCE--BUT I QUESTION THE EFFECT ON 50 YEARS OF RESIDENTS.
*****
THEN MY OTHER BRAINSTORM WAS ... THOSE FIREMAN WERE VERY HELPFUL AND COURAGEOUS TO GET IN MY CAR WITH 2 DOGS WHICH OUTWEIGHED THEM AND DRIVE IT TO THE HOSPITAL..  THEY CERTAINLY DID NOT HAVE TO DO THAT-- AND PROBABLY  IT WAS SOMETHING THEY COULD BE ADVISED NOT TO DO BYT THE RULE BOOK--SO HOW COUD I THANK THEM? A BIG CAKE-- LIKE OUR 19TH OF THE MONTH CAKES WE HAVE HERE...
SO.......I WILL DO THAT TOMORROW WHEN I CAN DRIVE BETTER....
*****
BUT WITH  THIS ORGANIZATION..WE CAN SPREAD IT OUT...
WE ARE AN ARMY--- WHAT WOUOLD HAPPEN IF EACH OF YOU (THAT COULD MANAGE TO...) BOUGHT A CAKE ON THE 19TH OF THE MONTH AND TOOK IT TO YOUR LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT AND EXPLAINED IT WAS FROM SERVICE DOG PROJECT IN IPSWICH MA.. THAT WOULD BLOW A FEW DOORS... IN THE "DO SOMETHIGN UNEXPECTED"  DEPARTMENT.
*****
MIND YOU I DON'T WANT YOU TO DO IT IF IT WOUYLD MEAN FEWER CHICKEN BRICKS-- BUT IF YOU CAN.
SOMEBODY KEEP TRACK OF THAT AND REMIND ME-- AND I WILL TAKE ONE TO IPSWICH ON THE 19TH OF FEB.
THAT IS ANOTHER SCREWBALLED THING TO DO TODAY-- WRITE A NOTE TO EPLAIN WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT AND YOU COULD COPY IT AND TAKE IT WITH THE CAKE TO YOUR LOCAL BUNCH.
GENERALLY  THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARE NICE PEOPLE..
****
AND THOSE ARE BEFORE I EVEN  THOUGHT OF TRYING T O CLEAR UP THE VERIZON MESS.
ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS WATCH MR TRUMP ON CNN YESTERDAY WHILE I SAT IN FRONT OF THE FIRE. -- I SHOUD BE ABLE TO  DO THAT ON MY COMPUTER--HOWEVER AFTER 2 HOURS ON HOLD- THEN IN THE CHAT FORM... I DISCOVERED WE HAD A $647.40 CREDIT SOMEWHERE IN THE FOREST OF THE VERIZON NETWORK.. AND MY HOME VERIZON WS A BUSINESS ACCOUNT WHICH WOULD NOT LET ME WATCH LIVE NEWS BROADCASTS.. NOW WHO DECIDED THAT?

TO RESOLVE THAT WILL TAKE 6.7 HOURS ON THE PHONE... A PERFECTLY GOOD OCCUPATIN FOR THE DAY-- SIT IN FRONT OF THE FIREPLACE "ON HOLD"

********
Dear Carlene,

The New Year is off to a rough start. One of my New Year's resolutions is to always lose weight. About two weeks ago every time I would eat I would get a horrible pain in my stomach.  It got so bad didn't want to eat at all. So for about a week I didn't eat or and I drank very little. Pete brought me into the ER on Tuesday. They admitted me into the hospital that night.

Zeke was a champion. He stayed with me Tuesday through Friday until they finally took my gallbladder out. He continued to stay with me until Sunday when I was released from the hospital. He was the talk of the hospital. Transport would draw straws to see who would come up to my room to see Zeke. Other patients would be talking to their family members saying "I'm positive I saw a giant dog!" Doctors and nurses wouldn't know he was in the room until they turned the corner and saw him quietly lying in his bed. He was a true gentleman(dog).

When PT finally came, he impressed everyone (because everyone was watching) by helping me slowing walk down the hallway after my surgery.

Zeke and I are both glad to be home, resting. We both look forward to see everyone down there soon!

Best,

Shannon & Zeke

Hi Carlene, just wanted to send you this pic of the babies spoonfeeding, as learned from you :) Pawsitive Steps Service Dogs is up and running.. just one pup from this litter.. as I just don't have room yet.. and I mean YET.. plans plans plans..! Hope this makes you smile <3  Hugs, Mo Welch and Super SD Image :) PERFECT

Then we got a very exciting package in the mail today. That small wrapped package turned into a XL Big Barker Bed! Big Barker sent Bella and George the bed as a gift! How amazing is that? Bella was so happy and excited to get this new bed for herself, I mean for George, it is so comfortable even though it

isn't fully expanded. So we thought if George had a nice bed he would sleep in his nice bed and then Bella could sleep better in her bed but nope, they both moved to the big barker. Silly duo! They love to sleep together that's for sure. Such a generous gift! THANK YOU BIG BARKER!!!

BIG BARKER FOAM IS THE MOST COMFORTABLE  TO SLEEP IN/ON... WHICH I HAVE  DONE MANY TIMES.. SO IF BELLA WASTE TO SLEEP ON GEROGE'S BED... I CAN CERTAINLY UNDESTAND THAT ONE..

JAN 26 2016
FOUR  FINGER REPT---
WHAT HAPPENED? I WANTED TO HAIEE A TRIAL RUN ON TEH ORANGE LINES SUBWY TO SHANNON 47'S PLACE AT THE TOHER END OF THE LINE... ONLINE THEY SAID HANDICAP ACCESSABLE-I PARKED NEAR THE ENTRANCE...BUT THE ELEATOR WAS OUTSIDE AGAIN AT THE  TOWER TYPE BUILDING. PUSHED THE BUTTON-DOOR OPEND BENTLY WALKED IN , SCREAMED AND FLIPPED ON HI S SIDE SCREAMING AND SNAPPING- I REACHED FOR HIM. GOR ZA[PPED AND FELL SITTINT ON ONE FOLDED ( UNHAPPY )LEG. AS I WREACEHD FOR BENTLEY I GO  TZAPPED AGAIN..( I KNWO THAT STUFF FROM ELECROIC FENCING DAYSS) AHD HE LATCHED ONTO MY WRIST AND HELD ON.. AS I PULLED HIM OUTOF THE ELEVATOR ON HIS SIDE - ALL 160 POUNDS OF HIM- HE BIT TWICE MOR-- MY OTHER HAND AND THEN MY KNEE.. BEFORE HE LET GO- BUT BY THEN MY WRIST WAS BLEEDING PRETTY STEADILY-- SO I GRSBBED THAT AND SCREAMED FOR HELP-- THERE WAS A WOMAN ABOUTO 50 FEET AWAY WHO SAID W=SHE CALLED FOR AMBULANCE BUT SHE WAS AFRAID OGF DOGS.

BY THEN BENTLEY WAS STANDING QUIETLY RIGHT NEXT TO ME...SHE SCREAMED AT ME" HOLD ON TO HIM" AND THIHS IS WHERE ETHE COMEDY STARTS.. I COULDN'T HOLD HIS LEASH BECAUSE BLOOD WAS LEAKNG OUT PRETTY FAST-- SO I STUCK HIS LEASH ( THE ¼ X 20" PIEDE OF ROPE) IN MY MOUTH- AND THE ARRIVING EMT'S FELT MUCH BETTER ABOUT THAT... THE FIRE DEPT WAS THERE ALSO-- I TOLD THE ASSEMBLED CREW WHAT HAPPENED- AND THEY STOOD- SO I SUGGESTED THEY SHUT DOWN THE ELEVATOR.. AND ONE OF THE MEN PRODUCED A KEY AND TURNED IT IN TH ELOCWK. FOR OUT OF SERVICE.

CHAOS WAS STILL IN MY CAR- WHICH WAS PARKED NOT FAR AWAY- SO ONE OF THE FIREMEN SAID HE COULD DRIVE MY CAR TO THE HOSPITAL AS LON G AS I COULD ASSURE HIM THE OTHER DOG DIDN'T BITE...  CHAOS...KNOWN TO GET CONFUSED..-- SO I ASKED THEM TO PUT BENTLEY IN WITH HER... ALTHO I HAD MADE THEM FULLY AWARE THAT HE COULD /SHOUDL RIDE IN THE AMBU.. POOR BENTLY LOOKED BAC AT ME AS THEY TOOK HIM TO MY CAR..  BUT THEY RETURNED HIM TO ME IN THE ER WHERE HE COULD NOT HAFE BEEEN BETTER BEHAVED

THE EMT'S HAD WRAPPED MY WRISTS- BASICALLY TO CO=VER  UP THE MESS- SO THERE I SAT IN THE ER... WITH EVERYONE COMING OVER TO TALK ABOUT BENTLEY---WHILE MY WRISTS  GOT HURTING WORSE.. FINALLY THE WAY  I GOT ATTENTION WAS TO REST MY ARM OREHE RAIL OF THE BED AND DRIP RED BLOOD ON THE FLOOR...
SO A NURSE CAME AND UNWRAPPE THEM AND CLEANED THEM UP SOMEWHAT - LEFT ME SNG WITH  PEE PADS -  THERE ARE DOCTORS-- THEN THERE ARE PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS- AND IN HTIS ER I WAS BEING TREATED BY AN ASSISTANT TO THE PHYSUCIAN'S ASSISTANT.. ( MEGAN ARRIVED AND TOOK BOTH DOGS HOME) OF COURSE I HAD NOTHING TO DO, EXCEPT STUDY  THE STERIL TECHNIQUIE OF THE VARIOUS PEOPLE WHO CAME AND WENT.

THERE IS AN ART TO HANDLING STUFF IN A STERILE MANNOR.  WWHICH DOES NOT INVOLVE PICKING UP DROPPED ITEMS FROM THE FLOOR WITH STERILE GLOVES... OR LOADING A SYRINGE ( TETNUS) WITH STERILE GLOVES WHEN YOU ARE HANDED TEH VIAL OUT OF THE CLOSET.. GEORGE (VETERNARIAN)WOUOLD HAVE HAD A FIT...
SHE DID PUT IN 2 STITCHES ACROSS A GAPING WOUND IN MY KNEE AFTER DISCUSSING IT AT LEGNTH WITH THE PA...-- AND SHE MADE 11 KNOTS..PER STITCH.. I COUNTED...I HAD NOTHING TO DO - THEN THEY COVERED EVERYTHING UP WITH WHITE BANAGES- AND NO ANTIBIOTIC GOO- BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY... 2 WRISTS AND A KNEE... TEH SDP  VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF SWONG INTO ACTION DELIVERING AN EXTRA DRIVER  AND I WAS PICKED UP-
*********
PART 2
BENTLEEY WAS BREATHING - PUFFING SHALLOW BREATHS- .. GEORGE WAS ON DECK BY NOW AND HAD MEGAN COUNTING-- HE WAS BREATHING FASTER ET-- SO IT WAS DECIDED TO TAKE HIM DOWN FOR A LISTEN AND MAYBE AN XRAY-- CONCERN IN ELECTRICAL ACCIDENTS IS APPARENTLY  FLUID COLLECTING IN THE LUNGS/HEART// OR SOMEWHERE.. SO WE SAT AROUND ON THE FLOOR WITH BENTLEY AND COUNTED BREATHS.. HE DID NOT SEEM TO BE GETTING WORSE... SO WE WENT HOME-- GEORGE SAI 24-48 HOURS WE NEEDED TO MONITOR HIS BREATHING.
DURING THAT TIME GEROGE  GOT TO EXPLAINING WHAT HE DID WHEN HE GOT BITTEN- NOT WANTING TO BE ACCUSED OF GIVING MEDICAL ADVICE TO A HIMAN ( ME) HE DID SAY BEST THING WITH TO DOG BITES IS SOAING INA BETADINE SOLUTION- SO WE BOUGHT SOME ON THE WAY NOME AND GRACE MADE A SOLUTION IN A (CLEAN) DOG DISH-- I SOAKED AND SHE SCRUPPED  AND FOUND SOME NEOMYWHATERVER  AND REBANDAGED MY 2 WRISTS AND A KNEE.
I FEEL ALOT BETTER TO HAVE SOME PROPER BANC=DAGING  AND ANTIBIOTIC  UNDERNEATH..
BUT IT HURTS
SO I DID NOT HAVE MUCH SLEEP-----WHEN YOU FIGURE THE CRUNCH OF BENTLEY'S JAWS AS HARD AS HE COULD ON MY WRITST- I WONDER IF THERE MAY BE OME BROKEN BONES IN THERE- SO I MAY JUST GO TO LAHEY TODAY AND SUGGEST AN XRAY..

THE PA'S ASSISTANT SAID MY HUGE KNEE WAS PROBABLY JUST FLUID...-- AND IT IS WORKING PRETTY WELL..

ABOUT 9PM ONE OF THE TV CHANNELS CALLED TO SEE "WHAT HAPPENED TO THE 78 YEAR LD WOMAN WHO GOT ELECTRUCUTED ON THE ORANGE LINE.."  THEY MUST LISTEN TO THE EMERGENCY RADIOS...
WHEN I TOLD THEM IT WAS GEORGE'S FATHER-- EARS PERKED UP  THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL TODAY.

I WONDERED WHO WAS THE BUILDING INSPECTOR-- AND WANT TO KNWO WHEN IT W AS INSPECTED LAST... NOT THAT I AM SUE INCLINED... BUT...GEORGE POINTED OUR IT WAS POINTLESS TO SUE---AT 78.. THEY WOLD PLAY THE ODDS OF ENDLESS DELAYS...

AND SO IT GOES..

******
WILLIAM ( PHOTOGRAPHER OF CALENDAR FAME) SAID HE HEARD THERE WOUOLD NOT BE MUCH SNOW THIS WINTER-  HE MUST HAVE GOT THAT  OFF THE INTERNET RIGHT NEXT TO WHERE IT SAID - MORE SNOW THAN LAST YEAR.
THE REASON THE INTERNET CAN BE QUOTED AS RIGHT IS THAT IT  DISPLAYS EVERY RUMOR POSSIBLE  SO ONE IS BOUND TO BE CORRECT...
***
WILLIAM'S POINT WAS...  "I HOPE THIS IS NOT ALL THE SNOW WE GET-- HOW ARE WE GOING TO GET A CHRISTMAS OR WINTER SHOTS FOR NEXT YEAR'S CALENDAR..."  AFTER WHAT HE GOES THRU IN PRODUCING THOSE CALENDARS - I AM DELIGHTED TO HEAR HE IS EVEN CONSIDDERING DOING ANOTHER FOR NEXT YEAR.... THEY ARE A THING OF BEAUTY-- AND WE DO HAVE ANOTHER BOX OR TWO LEFT IF ANYONE WANTS MORE.  THAT CAALENDAR IS THE PRODUCT OF SOME HEAVY DUTY  CREATIVE THINKING,WITH KITTY'S GATHERING, AND WILLIAM'S PHOTOGRAPHY..

JAN 24 2016

GREAT PARTY IN SPITE OF THE STORM-- AS I HAVE SAID-- ANIMAL PEOPLE DON'T LET WEATHER DISTRACT THEM..... AND IT IS INTERESTING TO HAVE ALL THE VOLUNTEERS MEET EACH OTHER...
MOST OFTEN THEY ARE LIKE   " SHIPS THAT  PASS IN THE NIGHT"

MARK TOOK PICTURES.
EARLY SANDY DID THINGS LIKE TALK TO TH E COOKS WHO DID PACKAGE UP THE LEFT OVERWS FOR US TO TAKE HOME-- TURNS OUT SOMEONE HEARD TEH WAIT STAFF COMPLAIN BECAUSE  THAT IS WHAT THEY USUALLY SNACK ON AT MIDNIGHT..  HOWERVER IT IS ALL IN THE GUREST HOUSE..
WILLIAM AND KITTY WERE THERE SO WE DISCUSSED THE  NEXT CALENDAR AT GREAT LEGNTH.. AND MAY HAVE COME UOP WITH 2 POSSIBLE PICTURES-- WE ONLY NEED 13.... WE STARTED LAST YEAR'S IN JAN  AND STILL HAD TO RUSH IN NOVEMBER TO GET IT OUT BEFORE CHIRSTMAS !!  BUT IT IS BEAUTIFUL
GRACE'S REMODELED LAUNDRY DETERGENT CONTAINERS WERE VERY WELL DONE AND RECIEVED... ALL INDIVIDUALLY DESIGNED WITH THE RECIPIENT'S VARIOUS SKILLS- LIKE ANNIE'S DONKEY HANDLING...
THE 2 STEVES DID MC STINTS VERY WELL.
AND WE ALL ATE--AND I JUST ASKED TANNER TO GO GET SOME OUT OF THE GUEST HOUSE REFRIG. FOR BREAKFAST..... WHICH IS WHERE IT ALL LANDED-- HOPEFULLY...

TRAVELING WAS INTERESTING..
USUALLY RT1 AND 95 ARE GIVEN HIGH PRIORITY ( BEING TEH MAIN ROADS FROM MAINE TO FLORIDA)  THE REATAURANT WAS ON RT 1--- AND THE FUZZ UNDER TIRES WAS ABOUT 4" DEEP WHEN WE LEFT DINNER.--   RT 95 WAS NOT MUCH BETTER ALL THE WAY THRU TOPSFIELD... IT LOOKIED LIKE  IT HAD NOT BEEN PLOWED AT ALL-- THERE WAS NO MOUND OF SNOW  AT ALL..BESIDE THE ROAD  FROM PLOWING..
THAT IS UNHEARD OF ON RT 95  IN THIS AREA... - MY THEORY OF "ALL THE PLOWS WENT TO WASHING TON " SEEMS TO BE TRUE... THEY SURE WEREN'T HERE.-- SO OFTEN WE SEE A CONGA LINE OF 4 TRUCKS  SITTING ON AN OVERPASS WAITING FOR THE NEXT RUN...  WE SAW 2 AT A DUNKIN DONUTS....
******
WE RE DESIGNED THE OFFICE SPACE TO BETTER HAVE A WORK AREA...  THERESA'S DESK IS IN THE SUN ROOM--- AND I AM GONG TO TRY AND KEEP THE DOGS OUT OF THERE. UNLESS INVITED.
WE NOW CAN SIT AND EAT FOOD  AROUND THE FIRE AND WARM UP.   JOYCE SPENT TIME UNTANGLING THE WIRES OF TEH MAILCALL MIC.. A MAJOR IMPROVEMENT...  PLUS TEH "KITCHEN PUPS" HAVE RUN OF THE FULL AREA -- IT WAS GETTTING CROWE==DED AND THEY WERE CHEWING ON EACH OTHER A BIT MORE THAN I LIKE.
SOMETHING ABOUT TOO MANY RATS IN A CAGE????
*******

JAN 23 2016
THERE IS A VERY INTERDEPENDENT  ATMOSPHERE HERE AT SDP....AND LAST NIGHT'S TRAINER TALK MEGAN AND DEVLIN HIT ONE ON THE HEAD...
WE NEED A FEW EXTRA DOGS AROUND HERE  FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS... THE BIGGEST  REASON BEING  THE PUPPY MAKERS.... BUT ALSO "IT TAKES A COMMUNITY OF SKILLS"  NOT JUST THE PEOPLE BUT THE DOGS....

I REMEMBER...... WELL......THAT IS A  BONEFACED LIE...----  LET ME REPHRASE.. I WAS REMINDED THAT  BELLA WOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN GEORGE IF IT HAD NOT BEEN FOR TH E FACT THAT WE COULD TRY OUT HER WALKING WITH NOEL.... NOEL WHO CAN BE A PAIN IN THE NECK, HAD THE ABILITY TO LET BELLA  TRY WALKING FROM THE T TENT TO THE BARN...-- AND FIDO-- WHO WAS THE DOG WELL BEHAVED ENOUGH TO LET JOCELYN TRY TO GO GET AN ICE CREAM SUNDAE BY HERSELF  WITH FIDO... AT THE MALL...SO WE COULD GET TEAL READY FOR HER.  IN DAYS GONE BY BAILEY COULD BE CALLED ON TO "TRY" AN APPLICANT...NOW THAT SHE'S RETIRED AND FIDO GONE, WE ARE A LITTLE SHORT IN  DOGS WELL TRAINED ENOUGH TO BE DEMO DOGS.
REGARDLESS OF HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT PUBLIC ACCESS IN GENERAL, WE NEED A FEW DEMO DOGS--- AND THOSE DOGS MUST BE PUT THRU ALOT OF THE SERVICE DOG TRAINING... DOGS  THAT YOU CAN PULL OFF THE SHELF AND PUT IN A SITUATION WHERE THEIR BEHAVIOR IS PRETTY  CERTAIN.  THEY ARE PART OF THE BIG PICTURE...OF BEING ABLE TO  PROVIDE SERVICE DOGS TO PEOPLE WHO NEED THEM.

SO PLEASE-- HOLD BACK THE  ADA /ADI  LECTURE -- NO ONE--HAS ALL THE DETAILS INVOLVING EVERY DECISION-- SOMETIMES INCLUDING ME....

WE NEED TO BE SURROUNDED BY PEOPLE WHO'S SKILLS INVOLVE PIECES TO THE PUZZLE -
PAM'S  ABILITY AS A SHORT ORDER COOK IS SOMETIMES AS CRITICAL AS HER ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS.   GRACE'S ABILITY TO GLUE THINGS TOGETHER MATCHES HER PILL PUSHING  ABILITIES...
IN MY CASE I NEED TO BE SURROUNDED BY PEOPLE WHO CAN REMEMBER WHERE THEY HAVE FILED THINGS.... WHILE I AM 99% FAMILIAR WITH THE CONTENTS OF HOME DEPOT..   FOR VARIOUS REASONS I FOUND MYSELF EXPLAINING WHY A   2X4  PIECE OF LUMBER WAS ACTUALLY 1.5 X 3.5 INCHES WHICH IS CLOSELY RELATED TO WHY AN 8" BOARD  IS 7.5 INCHES. NOT ONLY THAT , MY EXPERTISE INCLUDES KNOWING WHO AT HOME DEPOT WILL SAW CHUNKS OFF BOARDS  WHEN THE WHEN THE SIGN CLEARLY SAYS   ONE CUT FREE- ALL OTHERS $.50.
BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THERE ARE TIMES WHEN RUNNING SDP SOMEONE  NEEDS TO KNOW THAT.
I HAVE A VERY STRANGE COLLECTION OF INFORMATION LODGED IN MY HEAD----WHICH IS PROBABLY WHY SO MUCH ELSE FALLS OUT.

I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH MYSELF AT MAILCALL WHEN  A CP SENT IN $20 FOR 10 BRICKS BECAUSE THEY WERE  CORRECTLY FIGURING IN BINARY FASHION --  BASE 2.
**********
THE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICE WEREE HERE YESTERDAY WITH TEH "ARCHITECT" SORT OF PERSON...--- THE  "INFIRMARY" WILL BE A LITTLE CLOSER TO THE BARN THAN THE TEEPEE DUE TO AN ACTUAL 100' LONG TAPE THAT THE ENVIRONEMTAL GUY HAD IN HIS POCKET.. HE MEASURED THE "WETLAND' BEHIND THE CHICKEN COOP.  NOT A BIG DEAL...  BUT IT MEANS WE REALLY SHOULD WIDEN THE DRIVEWAY BY 2 FEET SO WE CAN PARK OUTSIDE THE GATE.
****
AND IMPROVE THE AREA BEHIND THE ARENA FOR MORE PARKING--- AND MAYBE A HORSE OR TWO.
********
i just  told some person at the va  i---sdp--- would try and help some guy who had an army dog in afgahn which then got shipped to alaska- and he followed it there and claimed it-  and it is now in everett  and he is in trouble with ptsd and  a bunch of rules...  i hope we are strong enough to withstand  supporting this guy as he tries to make the dog a service dogs.  so what is one german shephard?   no one will notice.  pray it was not an attack dog in afgahn---that could get complicated.---- if it is a bomb sniffing dog, it should be easy enough to have it also be a service dog--- then if there are any bombs between everett and ipswich, we will know it.

NOW  the upto  report ----- they are now saying that north of boston we might get a dusting of 1" of snow.  well that certainly is  beneath the upto 24 inches... it is not nice to tempt fate i know.... the part that could be a problem is the wind--  especially since i have been receintly discussing the  stregnth of the canvass that covers the arena-- and why the building inspector needed to test the compaction of the soil to prevent the arena from going UP  in a stiff breeze.

medical reports-- i forgot george did a swab of lint's noisy nose-- turns out he did get the results back and the couple dogs who have "that noise" are on a diffeerent antibiotic.  it is a pretty minor noise... but strange...it would be wonderful to have that isolation unit---  but we will g et there...

puppy progress... is being made-- i hear of the odd situations megan and other 3 trainers get into dealing with new pups instead of the pretty well trained 9 month old dogs...  like piles of watermellons -- small children--,and slippery floors.  it is a whole new ball game. ...---- and costco was not mad at me... at least the usual staff was positive... we never asked the management about speed limits in wheelchairs....

wow  upto 24 inches... like those flashlight batteries that last up to 10 years-- got to look for the upto factor. latest i heard was boston  0 to 2 inches...  well that is certainly upto 24... so maybe we get a chance to look and watch washing ton struggle with what we would consider nearly normal...  a big snowstorm..

i can remember...... when you did not know these things..."red sky at night, sailors delight" kind of weather forcasting.... you never knew if it was a snow squall or a blizzard in the making.. the common thought was  yiu'd look to the sky.... if the flakes were very small it was a blizzard..and only time would tell the difference.
------if this storm swings north at all we are going to be in worse  shape than normal - because the owners of all the big trucks have headed to Washington because washington has money and no snow plow equipment to deal.....which  may leave us with a few trucks to roar around  and then the local backhoe's---- not alot bigger than ours... get hired to do the corners and hydrants.

at any rate... the party is on...if you are worried.. bring sleeping bags-- that training room "dorm"  can hold UPTO  10 friendly people-- and the loft in the guest house has thee best bed on th e property.  there are lots of places here to stay warm and dry...
*****
GARBALOGY-- THE BOOK I GOT AT MAIL CALL -
i just started it ---- garbage is a huge project... hidden but huge.
44% of all trucks on the road haul trash/garbage...

it has some very interesting  observations... like the thing in the bubble wrap
will break and be disolved long before th e bubble wrap that contained it.
*****
toys-- that spin the bottle toy is successful--- i never thought they would get it  because the treats are so randomly dispensed  ... unlike the yuppy where if you hit it right , you get a treat.
now they bat away at it - and when the get tired, they just sit and chew on the wood.
*******
meeting about the building went as well as can be expected...alot depends on this storm.... if we get 24 inches. the surveyers could not  locate the pin points necessary to lay out the buildings already here... he thought they couold  do that nesxt week if there was not 24 inches of snow.

so the debate is then swamp cabbage--- which indicates "wetlands" -- behind the chicken coop is definitely wetlands---we must be 100' from wet lands....  there is room-- but the building might get closer to the barn...
i suppose where the dumpster is could work too.
*************
hammacher schlemmer-- a respectable outfit-- stuff they sell is guarenteed-- i get their cataloge....so i had to buy... a thing to jump start your car-- the size of my cell phone????? goes in the glove compartment????
i don't believe it.  rechargeaboe--... holds it's charge  up to... ( got that up to)  3 years without use.
pretty careful  wording- but i had to try it.

NUMBER THINGS.... THIS LEAD BIT IN THE WATER-- DR. SANJA GUPTA- ON CNN  SAID THE LEAD  5 PPM ( PARTS PER MILLION) WAS OF CONCERN... AND THE READING ON THIS WATER WERE 14,000 PPM.
I AM SURE HIS  STATISTIC IS CORRECT... I HAVE TO RELATE THAT MY GENERATION GREW UP CHEWING ON LEAD PAINTED TOYS  AND PLAYING WITH THE MERCURY IN THERMOMETERS-

we have a volunteers party planned at a huge chinese resaturant..for saturday-- and we are supposed to get the first blizzard of the season saturday night... hopefully  we can party early and get home before it gets too  serious...  party is scheduled for 5 to 9.. i can see it now...60 people here with sleeping bags and  cartons of chinese food leftovers.

it is saying  6 to 10 inches  ... which in my book is hardly a blizzard...last year we would have hardly noticed another 6".----- but being the first of the season everyone is out buying bread milk and toilet paper  already..

somebody yesterday ? mentioned that people buy toilet paper when facing a blizzard.--- and on my costco trip yesterday  a very high... noticably  high percentage of carts had TP in them.   probably just an accident -- but could be an interesting statistic...
******
i also checked and there were no negative comments about my fast trip around the store being pulled by bentley-- i was shopping ---- i bought things--- i was afraid with the use of the camera- they would have thrown us out... however  they were all chuckling...

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU AND THE STAFF ON BELLA AND GEORGE’S ANNIVERSARY!

From Bella's Mom

Well it must be a special day. 2 videos in the same day. Bella wanted to share everyone the special anniversary dinner she put together for George tonight. She knows he LOVES hot dogs but never gets them. So this was a very special treat. She gave him 5 cups of kibble, 1/4 can on soft food like always

with a little water to mix it all up but tonight for his special anniversary dinner Bella added a hot dog and a dog treat. He got dinner and desert all in one bowl. She even had him stand there and wait before he attacked that yummy hot dog.

January 19, 2015 is the day we went to Service Dog Project and signed the official paperwork to make it official that George now belonged to Bella. It amazes me all these 2 have been through in the past year. To name a few things 52 infusions, numerous doctor appointments, 2 overnight surgeries, school

field trips, vacations, boating and beaching, George's first plane trip to receive his AKC ACE award and Disney World. I am sure we are missing a few fun things but those stood out. I could always go back and reread all their adventures on this page but that's ok. I am positive they have many more exciting

adventures ahead of them for this next year ahead. We will just have to wait and see. The only thing that I really hope we can change are the surgeries. I know the other Dr stuff will stay the same but I can do without the surgeries. Tomorrow we have another exciting special event to celebrate their anniversary. Even though it's infusion night we shall have fun.

Also we want to thank everyone that has helped make this matchup. All those that donate, support and volunteer at Service Dog Project. If it wasn't for all your help and generosity Bella would be using crutches or possibly a wheelchair by now but you all helped give her some independence and her life
back! So thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We wouldn't be where we are if it wasn't for all of you.

Much love Bella and George

i am $@#$%^&*()_
we are gettin gsooooo organized thanks to pam- and we h ave alot of interns running around learning things..
***************
WELLLLLLL   let me  start in.. and this is from where  i sit... literally...
water--- #1 thing to deal with...( sorry.... with which to deal.....)
fact.... a dog can take a drink out of a horse's 3 gallon pail and the entire pail will turn to slime...i do not know why    and at this point i don'ty care why... point being just because a dog dish ( bailey's is case in point) is ½ full it does not mean it is normal drinkable water-- if it is ½ full, it means some other dog has had a drink and what's left will not pour out of the dish like water, it will slide out in a glob of slime.
it is one of those things you have to learn to question.....how did that dish get ½ full????  if your conclusion is that  another dog had a drinlk,.. get your %^&* in motion and refill it....  the queen  bailey might want to get up for a drink.... and when she does, she will sniff that water dish and look at me with  " where are your organizational skills??? you expect me to struggle to my feet for a drink and have to be confronted with this glop while there are people just sitting around?".. and she has taken to standing in front of a ½ full dish waiting for me to ask someone to refil it.   just like she will get off one bed and stand in front of the other where ariot or audry is sleeping expecting me to get them off so she can change beds..
age does have it's privlidges......

it is the kind of mental activity  that farming in general teaches--  grace would notice that-- so would janine being an old 4h member.-( altho janine might be in too much of a rush to do anything about it.. she is capable of noticing.)
problem with running an outfit like this is there are 1462 situations like that a day.- the adi accreditation tries very hard to address every situation rather than recognise the fact that there are exgtremely well trained people who  can recognise and deal with problems even they can not dream up. ... and most of them were into animal management at a n early age in something like 4h.

i remember......( oh not the memory thing again)...when i worked for the want ad magazine- in the early agesw i managed just  the northern section -- northt of boston... i had kids and horses se we knew parents of kids with horses..-- the cheapest thing about a horse is it's purchase price-- horses cost money to feed... what ain't hay... is just that... so parents needed money for the hay bill an d a second fairly painless job of delivering magazines ws a godsend.   the people i hired were   "horse people" . the personell department at the main office asked me once why in the snow  they had many delivery people not show up for work  and all my people were out there in any weather. -- simple answer was horse people know  7am you get up and out to the barn to feed.. there is no way out.. not getting there does not even cross your mind-- you get up and out. it developes a work ethic like no other.
to this day if someone has a significant  4h background they go to the top of my list... i know they come pretrained to work.
*****
so there.
*****
just one other reelated concept--- if most  inventions are accidental observations of an unrelated occurance, would dog saliva  be a better substance than wd-40?
it is certainly wierd stuff.

PRETTY AMAZING STORY----pay attention to the details...

From Bella's Mom:

This morning the kids got to sleep in since it was a holiday and a day off. It was nice especially since we got some snow. Not a ton but about 4/5 inches was enough for Bella and George to enjoy it. When George got up, Bella was still sleeping so I took him out to do his morning business. He was SO happy to

be in the snow! He was running and jumping and playing even before going to the bathroom. I almost forgot how much he loves the snow! So Bella even though she decided to have a pajama day still put on her snow suit and went outside to play with George and go sledding. Every time Bella went down

the hill George would chase her down and then run up the hill, run a circle around me and then back down to Bella. If I didn't make my way down the hill he would run up to me again. If I did start walking down to help Bella up the hill he was happy finding branches to chew on. I think next I need to teach

George how to pull Bella up the hill on her sled. Bella walked up the hill a couple times and crawled up the hill a couple times and then I pulled her up the hill another dozen times. She loves to sled that's for sure. After sledding it was time to come inside for some hot chocolate for Bella and George went

and found Bella's bed. A couple hours later Ed and I came back from the store with a couple saucer sleds so Gabi and Bella decided to go back out and sled. Since George was still in bed Bella went out with Gabi knowing Gabi would help her but after about 2 minutes George came down stairs walked

around the house, stood at the back door looking out then came to me in the living room handed me his paw then back to the back door. I sat there for another minute then he did the same thing. So I put his coat on and sent him outside with the girls and he ran right up to Bella sniffed her then ran

around her and played in the snow with the girls. He was missing his little lady! Now everyone is off to bed early tonight after all the snow play. Thank you for checking in and saying hi!

I WAS BAD--- I KNOW THAT... BUT IT WAS SUCH FUN !!
I MUST APPOLOGISE TO COSTCO.   THE VIDEO IS OF ME GOING  SLOWLY... I WENT MUCH FASTER  WHILE "SHOPPING"

BUT ----NOT ONLY THAT--- NOW I REMEMBER ---THEY HAVE A DEADLY BAN ON CAMERAS IN COSTCO...AND WE TOOK THIS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE MGR DESK...
IF ANYONE HAS SEEN THE VIDEO   PLEASE DON'T PASS IT AROUND-- .. HERE IS HOPEFULLY A SCREEN SHOT
IT IS A LITTLE BLURRY, BUT WE WERE MOVING...
I BETTER STICK TO HOME DEPOT-- THOSE ELECTRIC SCOOTERS GO SOOOOOO SLOWLY
BENTLEY IS BETTER...
***********
I TOOK CAROLINE TO THE AIRPORT- SEEING AS WE KIND OF FORGOT TO GET HER ON HTE SHUTTLE...- IT WASN'T TOO BAD-- BUT  WE GOT TO TALKING ABOUT SETTING ALARM CLOCKS
AND .... HERE WE GO.....MY HUSBAND  NEVER SET AN ALARM CLOCK  TO GET UP AT A SPECIFIC TIME-- LIKE IF WE HAD TO LEAVE FOR SOME FLIGHT AT 3AM, HE WOULD BE SURE HE WOULD WAKE UP IN TIME.... AND HE ALWAYS DID.... TOOK ME YEARS TO FIGURE OUT HOW HE  DID THAT... ..HE WOULD DRINK A HUGE GLASS OF WATER AT 7:45 AND THAT WOULD MEAN HE HAD TO GET UP AT 2AM TO GO TO THE BATHROOM. ( I HAVE FORGOTTEN THE EXACT NMBERS INVOLVED,  BUT YOU GET THE IDEA..)
THERE ARE SO MANY OF YOU ALL OUT THERE... COULD WE TRY FOR SOME REAL STATISTICS ON THAT?
***************
AND THEN I CAME TO THIS....
" The telephone book is full of facts, but it doesn't contain a single idea. "

SOMEONE SENT ME THIS-- I MEANT TO DO IT ALREADY-- MAYBE I CAN GET TO IT TODAY''' SIMPLE DOG TOY BUT EFFECTIVE...

AND THIS QUOTE WAS SENT....... I HOPE COSTCO KNOWS ABOUT IT...

So it's a little unusual, I'm not sure where you're seeing a problem th

JAN 17 2016
oh boys..i had 2 emails.......
maybe i should say up front... anyone out there can start their own  service dog outfit and do whatever they want...and if they did , then they would know all the details of each case...in the meantime you are stuck with me...and i have to report-- the two scathing emails had about bentley's masculine appendages and the use of a vest when i am not handicapped..both came from people who have recieved tremendous benefit from  however  sdp is run.

Now...as for the vest....i have heard the arguement many times.....and i am in total agreement with taking advantage with pet dogs...  and certainly ones that don't behave..however... i .personally at least.. use a dog .. not only as physical help  but as a perfectly behaved dane, literally an advertisement for danes as service dogs.  it would be wonderful to have a few more out there....question is "perfectly behaved...".. with appologies to the ada---- i question  which is worse -  a service dog improperly managed or a fabulous failure behaving perfectly-- there is a goal-- to benefit sdp in general- of having people be aware of danes  and our program..  i cringe at the  public behavior of a couple of our recipients.....

 and then there is me.....
which has to bring up... costco--- i made a quick trip to costco  with kati....... and the costco  electric scooters are sooooo slow   that i opted to have bentley pull my w/c-- and i had to buy a bunch of big things which meant i needed a shopping cart....turns out..... it is difficult to steer a cart with one hand while the other is on bentley's harness...however... if you put both feet on the lower rail of the cart,  use your  feet the  steering is simple.    bentley really gets into pulling and  "moves along"-- i feel i must apologize to costco- before they give me a speeding ticket.. it was a bit of a spectacle-- most were amused... but there are always  one or two... looking to be critical...unable to accept the unusual...there is a video-- kati was goin  to put it somewere

as for bentley's appendages.... i know full well of 2 other programs who use thier stud dogs as working service dogs--the" authoriities"  have referred to that as  "with special permission"  the huge difference is they are golden retrievers where their long coat "feathers ' in the rear cover the  basics...  where bentley can not hide his.......to suggest i neuter bentley is extremely short sighted...

i deleted the next paragraph
for a couple reasons.........

I LOVE THINGS WHERE THE LOGIC JUST DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT
MY OVERNIGHT TV WATCHING LAST NIGHT-- WAS A SHOW I HAD SEEN BEFORE ABOUT WHAT A GREAT UNDERCOVER AGENT A GUY IS--- AND THAT WAS AN  " IS"... NOT A "WAS"... FOR TH ELIFE OF ME I CAN NOT FIGURE OUT WHY ALL THT WAS AIRED...- OTHER THAN  THE GUY WAS MAD- HE THOUGHT THE CIA HAD GIPPED HIM OUT OF A MILLION ON SOME RANSOM. IF HE IS NOW NOT WEARING A SHIRT WITH A BIG RED BULLSEYE ON IT, I MISS MY GUESS.

LOGIC..  - PARTICULARLY IF IT IS POLITICALLY INCLINED... THE ONLY ONE I CAN REMEMBR  AT THE MOMENT....WAS POINTED OUT BY THE ASTRANAUGHT WHO;S WIFE WAS SHOT----  IF TEH GOVERNMENT WAS TO COLLECT ALL THE GUNS A S  SOME PEOPLE ARE FEARING....  NOT ONLY  HOW... BUT WHAT WOULD THEY DO  WITH THE EMENSE PILE OF GUNS THEY COLLECT.
WHICH EVOLVED INTO.....
--- PER CNN-THERE ARE POLICE STATIONS  NOW WHO SELL THE GUNS THEY HAVE COLLECTED TO BE ABLE TO BUY BULLETS FOR SHOOTING PRACTICE.--
AND--- ONE MORE--
IN SOME TOWN THE POLICE SOLD A GUN TO A GUY WITHOUT A BACKGROUND CHECK- HE THEN IMMEDIATELY TURNED AROUND AND SHOT 4 YOUNG POLICEMEN IN A MEETING AT THE STATION.

BENTLEY DOVE, I YELLED, GEORGE SNATCHED AND NO HARM WAS DONE....BENTLEY MUST KNOW THAT WAS A VERY BAD. HE QUICKLY RETURNED TO ME... BUT  I DO NOT KNOW IF HE WAS ON  A SNIFF MISSION OR BITE... AT ANY RATE IT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY BAD... AND MY FAULT FOR NOT -PAYING ATTENTION  TO THE TESTICLES.

JAN 15 2016

THIS IS A WHALE OF AN INVITATION----- THIS BANK WILL COUNT COINS TODAY AND MATCH WHAT THEY COUNT WITH A DONATION TO US.... I DO HAVE A PRETTY GOOD COIN COLLECTION- SO I WILL WHEEL IT DOWN... IN A 5 GALLON JUG...

I REMEMBER THE DAYS..... OF DEALING WITH THE WANT AD MAGAZINE... I HAD 16 DELIVERY PEOPLE WHO RETURNED 16 BROWN PAPRE BAGS OF BILLS, COINS AND CHARGE SLIPS WEEKLYI HAD A 5 GALLON JUG OF PENNIES- WHICH I WANTED TO USE AS A PRIZE AT A DANVERS ANIMAL HOSPITAL  PARTY... SO  THE BANK COUNTED THAT FOR ME .. AND IT CONTAINED 291.XX. AND WEIGHED A TON.
CONCLUSION BEING A GALLON OF PENNIES IS $60;  THEY WERE ALSO THE PRODUCT OF A  VERY STRANGE PROJECT WHERE  SOMEONE WITH TOO MUCH TIME ON THEIR HANDS SORTED PENNIES BY THE DATE-- IT STARTED SMALL-- AND WASN'T TERRIBLE BECAUSE  I NEEDED TO SEND SOMEONE A BIRTHDAY CARD ( THE GOOD OLD DAYS) I COULD SEND THEM A PENNY FROM THE CORRECT YEAR OF BIRTH...I KNOW I  STILL HAVE ABOUT A  ½ GALLON OF THOSE WHITE PENNIES I COULD EASILY PART WITH. IF I CAN FIND THEM..--  MADE IN ?1943 DURING THE WAR-- THEY DID NOT USE COPPER IN THEM...  I BETTER CHECK EBAY AND SEE IF THEY ARE WORTH 2 CENTS EACH...???? HAS TO BE ABOUT $30 WORTH... UNLESS.........
I KNOW FROM FURTHER RESEARCH  THAT MISC COINS WHICH HAVE NOT HAD THE QUARTERS PICKED OUT... CONTAIN ABOUT $20 A CUPFULL.-JUST IN CASE YOU SHOUL D EVER NEED TO KNOW.

Happy New Year.
Fiona and I went to an afternoon New Years party and although there were quite a few people she lay there quite content and not upset. Of course, everyone fussed over her and told her how beautiful she is.
We are doing well. She is romping through the snow.
Dentist apointment went well, with her patientlly laying there waiting.
She is still barking at the service men when they first come, but that is ok with me because you have to wait until she comes to you, not pushing her by tryng to get her to sniff their hand. Also I am standing by them and that is something she should be wary of.
Good friends bring her milk bones and she is jumps up when they leave to get her "good bye" bone.

Fiona is such a blessing in my life. I say a prayer for you and the volunteers and the wonderful Danes each day wahen I read the DD, which I love.

Take care.
Fiona and Mary Lou

handwriting is the  hang up of the day.
i had a brilliant idea for todays DD and wrote it in the corner of my suduko book at 2am....PUDISHA ...is what it looks like.. plus--- .... when i proof read a letter  for theresa to type... i added RHANWR .  so whatever that was did not get changed in  the letter.  i must move just a bit slower inthe handwriting dept.
*****
i remember.......here we go again....way back when i was in high school my grades were minimal to awful in anything that involved spelling-- as you can all appreciate... but someone straightened out my abilities in math simply by telling me to  write clearly and keep my equal signs in a column - after that i got 100 in all algebra, geometry and things like that.

i have passed on that wisdom to many students i have tutored ( or been exposed to) i think laura was one of them-- and i think she is now an "A" student in math too.  there was a guy here doing community service who's handwriting was ridiculous - i asked - he was failing in math- and was blaming math and could not begin to address the fact that he could not begin to do any math with that handwriting.
if you look at some of the papers these kids write in math it is simple to see why they think math is confusing
and 75% of the problem is handwriting.
now that they hardly ever use a pencil to write anything--and just poke at a cell phone,  i don't know how simple math will survive.
*******
that pudisha idea... might have been- hoping one of our cp's would win the powerball-    there are 3 of them so far... and we hae alot of cp's
i do hope if you have won  that  you will let us know.... right !
****
so i started in on what would i........  and i didn't get too far..i would want some of the things i wanted as a  child-  -- a car... more dogs...and roast beef dinners  -  and i have those now... so what else? maybe the driveway would get hot topped.- boy would that dress us up.... but then people would drive too fast--  my potholes are my speed bumps.
they say most people who win, loose the money ----why is it people spend that money on things other people tell them  they want  " oh i would buy a rolls royce"
i can see the real world cringing as bentley's happy tail ( with the small hole in it) flung a fine bloody spray on the roof liner......and 3 pups got car sick on the leather back seat.... as i pulled the trailer to the dump.
why do people spend money on that stuff???
Does dinner taste any better off a white tablecloth? -- or more appropriately.. is it less fattening?
Being warm and dry ... are high on my list---  but if costco doesn't sell it... i probably don't need it.
**********
somewhere i learned that having a rolls royce  "out of the mainstream" kind of possession, meant that if you wanted it repaired, they would send someone from britain.. to fix it.   when everyone had a vw bug,, every garage could fix them,  i guess that is why i don't have a rolls... i have a ford mentality.

jan 13 2016
extremely dull dd today....
mind loosing for the day--- not even a fun topic to write... let alone read....however....

i had no idea 540 emails were piling up at another address of mine.. and not transferring them to the aol account as i was told would happen...this aol could be driving me berserk
aol woul d not let me  send out as many emails as go for teh daily doggie ( about 2000) so i had to open a constant contact account-- which required another email address  carlene white71@gmail.com-- which  was supposed to be flipping the emails to my aol email list...   it did not.... so all the comments about calendars - getting or not getting them... i never got the  email... til today.. also all the people donating  to that account , i never got the message and therefore never clainmed..... etc....

what is sickening is-- i know there are other carlene@servicedogproject.org along with info@ and a few others-- all of which i was told......

and none have access to my list of contacts.. so to respond or send them to pam or theresa  etc   is not easy.
*******
so guess what i will be doing today.... and i love this stuff !!
it really upsets me  to think people are expecting me to respond and then think i have ignored them..  the only things i ignore are these link  fb  etc things that  won't let me reply without downloading stuff i do not understand.

thanks to grace, ryan and steve G  the dog food got stored away- and it just fit !!
*****
and then there is the electricity-- and who cares about the details... except  this is e educational???

last week we lost power by blowing up  the transformer at teh gate-- luckily it belongs to the electric company-- so tehy had to give me another...  which we blew up yesterday ( that is why the cameras went down  and then were slightly screwy to get running again)  so they gave me a bigger transformer-- this involved 2 monster trucks with huge cranes to lift th e thing out and in... at exactly the moment that the 53' trailer with our purina food arrived( that driver was a genuis to get in and out with all the cars parked..) many camera people were astounded watching him get around...

so these town electric guys suggested maybe we had an electrical "leak"  underground somewhere...

simple to detect... just go shut off the main breaker and see if the meter is still going around.- well we have"main breakers" in the house, guesthouse, laundry, t tent, barn (2-- one for the startup deal) and the shop..  and some  overlap... or we don't exactly know what iws where..- it has been 35 years-- and things keep geting added...
and they pointed  out that hte meters themselves were in tought shape..

so i have called cranney home services... and they will be here abotu 11 today-
i know  we have pipes between the locations.... they all stick out in the cellar with strings hanging out of them
unlabeled---..i put them in  when i had a water leak between house and barn--- 700 foot hole in the ground to get a new water supply to the barn down 5' ( new england frost).  but thse pipes are inthe samd hole down about 18"------- between an air compressor and hair dryer or vacuum cleaner. apparently it is not difficult to  get  another string thru the pipes-- if we only knew which pipe wnetn where... etc...
i called cranney and quit-- let them struggle... if we have to put in another line- it will need to be a fat one (because of teh amt of electricity needed in the barn with that dryer.) and probably won't go thru the existing pil[es anyway...
and all i wanted to do was install a standby generator-
*****
the stool and vomit report is,,,,upsetting at least... some seem to have  very liquid stool which contains rocks  which is hopefully the cause-- why eat rocks???? some just do  for the fun of it/  as long as they go thru it is only slightly upsetting.. so we have withthe pups.... 2 rock passers and 1 stomach emptier--- and audry seems just a bit upset bowel....-- but as a walkinpooper-- that could be better...
dogs are all active and temps normal---it is just the inner workings at the moment.

fun day ahead...

HI CARLENE

I AM WRITING TO TELL YOU THAT PETER GREENLEAF, OLIVER'S FIRST PERSON, DIED LAST SATURDAY.  THIS IS A LINK TO HIS OBITUARY http://obituaries.pressherald.com/obituaries/mainetoday-pressherald/obituary.aspx?n=peter-westbrook-greenleaf&pid=177229122

PETER WAS A WONDERFUL MAN, BUT HE UNFORTUNATELY MET OLIVER TOO LATE.  AT LEAST, THAT IS MY VIEW OF IT - AND I WAS THE ONE WHO TOLD KATHY AND PETER ABOUT SDP IN THE FIRST PLACE. AND THEN PETER'S DISEASE PROGRESSED AT A RATE NO ONE EXPECTED.

EVEN IF PETER DIDN'T GAIN AS MUCH FROM OLIVER AS BELLA HAS FROM GEORGE, KATHY FELT HE HELPED THEIR WHOLE FAMILY - MUCH AS RACHEL BURTON FEELS ABOUT GEORGE.
******
I HAVE BEEN WATCHING SINCE THE WEEK THE FIRST CAMERA WENT LIVE - AND WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT YOU AS LONG AS I CAN.  I WILL BE DRIVING TO MAINE ON FRIDAY FOR PETER'S MEMORIAL SERVICE AND AM HOPING TO STOP BY CRAZY ACRES ON SATURDAY AROUND ABOUT MAIL CALL - WITH A LOAD OF STUFF - WHY DRIVE PAST WHEN I CAN SAVE ALL THAT POSTAGE?
BEST,
