dd 3. 31

Sun, Mar 31 at 6:57 AM

HE PEE’D OUTSIDE !! AND ONLY 5 FEET FROM THE DOOR—WHEN HE TURNED AROUND AND WANTED TO COME BACK IN !! ( SO HE COULD DO HIS MORNING bm  IN FRONT OF TEH WASHING MACHINE)----- but I think I see progress !! I know about the take a piece of his stool and wipe it on the pee pad where you want him to “go”----  I did that --- and he dragged the pad to his fluffy bed  and tore it to shreds... I donT know how that fits in the generic “ how to housebreak a puppy.” . I have never seen “ to tell your puppy which piece of material you want shreaded wipe the scent of his stool.... etc....)he has accomplished boot dragging 101 and is onto  rope shedding...

Intellectually  he seems a bright pup--- and I do believe he has the  “NO” as in “no don’t put your teeth in my leg”..   I think he is mentally toying with “what makes her scream?” because he often will back off and sit down and look at me after a big “no “ episode.

My thanks to fugen fo r the case of canned dog food we're quickly working our way through it.. As he doesn't yet know to bite the whole spoon and drag the wet food off the spoon..  he still is in the “lick it”  mode.

Transporting in the car has become a lot simpler since Judy found a pillow to protect my lap from his pointy toes.  and actually yesterday at Meredith while I drove and Janine fed, noodles got in the back seat with sizzle and malarkey.

Now there is a sentence which demonstrates the intensity of this artificial intelligence deal.. a month ago it would have screwed up the whole concept but has learned words like  Meredith and malarkey..  that is frightening.

Speaking of Meredith, one thing they have me do is to drive very slowly around a pasture while I'm towing a small wagon so that I can pick up big clumps.  big clumps does not do the entire job and I know it would look a lot better if I had a piece of chain link to drag behind the wagon..  And that we really want to do it with pizzazz... we would take my nice harness’\...  the black  draft horse harness with the big collar and put it on that white mule called  ” Betty White” and use her to drag it around their pasture...  most of these pastures are visible from the street and although the owners of Meredith are not in the amusement business... could be Mr. Meredith might find it amusing to do and it would do a much better job than my  Toyota... Unfortunately I can no longer walk behind a draft horse..  but Betty White has spent hours learning how to walk around in harness so I can't believe it would be any kind of challenge for a beginner to learn to do..   All retired draft horses I ever met know one thing better than all others and that is “whoa” because stopping and standing still is 1000% less confusing than anything else a horse can think of doing.  donkeys know it really well instinctively..

So let's get out the Murphy's oil soap and dunk that harness ---Which is made now of bio theme or something---which is leather the easy way... the only thing missing will be the nice smell of leather.... but that's a small sacrifice

Cloud has done a fantastic job at organizing our visiting places so with judies actually entering the information and cloud putting it in a pretty version here's the month of March.   we certainly met our goal of 100 people a week.  notice that one trip to Merrimack NH which Janine called an emergency visit because it was a Hospice and apparently the woman was not doing very well... so Janine put the unit together  and ran---for which the family was extremely happy..

It is also where she decided to make a list of the expenses which made that visit possible at the spur of the moment.. starting with locating the hitch for the trailer... and the people ---volunteers---here who have taught the donkey to walk so nicely on a leash... it is a very interesting list---of course including the hay..

it may be a small donkey but it still consumes a lot of hay..  and grain..... an apple treats that camera  people send.

The list is very similar to the concept of how expensive can one puppy be?   I took this puppy in for a parvo shot and the bill was $178..  I think the shots are available for about $4.00 online..  but they did his nails and they listened to his heart and they listened to his lungs and gave him an  official healthy puppy rating

but This is why too many people are choosing not to have pets...   or heaven forbid..... children... !
here's cloud''''

Noodlles report----- WE ARE ONTO SPOON FEEDING...AND "OFF" AS IN "OFF MY LAP AND DON'T SCRATCH ME "  he is a bright little guy, -- gonna try for canine good citizen in 2 weeks----and pee pad potty along the way....i have always dreamed of spreading a pee pad in a ladies room of an airport- and having them use it !!

our henny penny board is "off cycle" because we did not start it til march 11--- i would be thrilled to have it sell out anyway.. however.....it was not a full month... we are 100% dependent on that support -- the last place we went to( georgetownsenior center...i i said we charged a cuppa coffee--- and one appeared in my hand right away ! that plus the oddity of this week... a run on hospice calls for people having a horse or donkey on their bucket list... so we try and do those as fast as we can....

janine is a big help on those jobs ( she too can back a trailer). but she is still fighting some stomach bug,...i have happily been taken off the twice daily shots ( my INR. was 2 ) and just have to take more pills... those shots were $6 each--- no insurance coverage. 30 x $12 along with hearing aid batteries,,, and a few other age related supplies... this getting old bit is expensive

todays schedult is nil.... just get everything ready for next week 5 "jobs"

DD 3 29

Pup doing fine--- “noodle” was mentioned and seems to fit.. and we can stay within  the “pasta” type names !!

He will go potty outside if we manage to take him out  after he wakes from nap or sleep in general... we did our first day care yesterday---

Georgetown—I am there often---    banks. Market.. etc... they have a senior center- which I had forgotten... so judy and I went... unannounced.....

I went in with noodle on a figure 8  of rope I made for him... and quickly found a chair and sat....  the director appeared with a what the ..”heck is going on”..  I quickly said i was old-- could i come in( to this senior center)??? explained noodle —which she did not understand--- it does sound weird--- so I managed to get the word to judy to bring in larkey and siz...  so as I am trying to explain.. those 2 came thru the door—followed by wanda – and the entire lobby was totally out of control... I watched and there seemed to be no one  afraid of them – so I let it happen—and the director settled down seeing how about 8 people were now on the floor playing with the dogs and puppy...  they eventually loved us  and booked an official appearance—plus said they would welcome walk ins—whenever we are at the bank –nearly next door !  we had hit the time when a lot of their people were coming there for lunch—and when I said we charged a cuppa coffee with 2 sugars—a cup quickly appeared in my hand...

An unexpected Joyful experience.—that was exactly what we were...  2 obvious professional  nuts !! made possible by a whole lot of $10 donations.

And at mail call, Janine – who is only on ½ operation due to  ? food poison?  Said we should add up what was the historic cost of a donkey appearance  which she and eliz had done so quickly this week to fill a buckeT wish..... ... donkey--- horse;;;; and then  karl—who hopped on the womans bed ( on invitation)  all there and ready to go- with car and trailer. It is a big deal to keep all that functioning...so thank ”you all”  we could not do it without you.. and we are actually doing it !!

THE  “Toe pincher”-- comes out of a book in my childhood  called “The Good Master” by kate sereday---not only a great book, but the drawings are spectacular of the plains in Hungary....and there was a creek?? Called the”toe pincher” maybe that would make Jansi  the puppy’s name???

He had his second lesson in  “don’t” with my tender toes this morning—I took hold of his muzzle and said “don’t bite” as I shook it.... I think he got the message although we will see if he remembers it tomorrow.. New people watching on camera have got to realize I am going to tell him when I do not like something and the way I will tell him is to do something he doesn't like ---as in this case I grabbed his nose and shook it a little bit and said don't do that..  my frame of reference for for permission to do that sort of thing comes from Wanda he did something she didn't like and she quite simply bit him making him Yelp and he has not bothered her since so my philosophy is about the same I certainly didn't upset him enough to make him Yelp but I wanted him to understand the my toes were off limits...  as was last night's dinner.. I have explained to you people before that when he tries to get in my dinner if I raise it out of the way then he's just training me to lift my dinner out of the way I prefer to eat my dinner on the table and have him stay away from my dinner which he's going to have to learn to do besides when you're raising a great big dog like a Great Dane you'd have to put your dinner on top of the ice box and even then it probably wouldn't be safe.

Speaking of large dogs we..   Janine and I.. took him to the vets 4 his puppy shot seeing as the only shots we had were outdated two years ago..  this was a new/BUT OLDER.... vet  and it is the one closest to the house... I tried 20 years or so ago to go in and see if I could establish myself as a kennel owner  who was going to have to have some veterinary care and whoever was working the desk at that point said they did not take great Danes OK so I tried the next vet down the road which is on topsfield Rd. At the top of Winthrop St. And she too said that she did not take Dogs that were bigger than she was at 150 lbs// a poorly behaved dog certainly raises havoc with every reputation...   and it could take a hundred well behaved dogs to change anybody's mind once they've been frightened.. that is why I eventually ended up staying with George Myers who's considerably further away than these two vets..

That was 20 years ago in 2003.. and now all I needed was a puppy shot for a tiny puppy in a bit of a hurry so I thought I would try the very local again..  and found totally new management

especially since this veterinarian covered the practice on a Wednesday--- he was delightful--  he was no spring chicken-- he had a few years age on him...  so he had not  quite been molded into the new modern medical practice...  they have in their practice a piece of paper that apparently explains to new puppy owners how to house train a puppy-and as he went to hand it to me he asked if I'd ever house trained the puppy before..  the answer to that is technically no my dogs have always house trained themselves with my in out sleeping arrangement.. So I caged my answer by saying”  a dog will house train itself. if you set up the right operation”. Which is when he realized he had on his hands either an absolute idiot or maybe somebody who knew what they were doing, so he made the casual remark “ohh you either have a well run establishment or a hell of a mess”. and I knew I finally had a veterinarian on my hands who lived in the real world... so I told him I had  a well run establishment that was often a hell of a mess... and we got down to business.  IT WAS FUN !!

Almost...  who do you have as a trainer?  I don’t have one..----   surely you have some help. You will need help if this is a newfy pup . ...( WHAT???NEWFIE???)   which is when I said the 200-300  or so that I had handled were danes..

.” I will see you in 2 weeks for my next shot--- on a Wednesday---- with my canine good citizen.pup

SO THE LINE IN THE SAND HAS BEEN DRAWN---I have two weeks— I think it was the World War 2 song “we did it before and we can do it again” comes to mind.

let us pray.

dd 3 27

From my emails.......

I know you are/were on a special request from NH Hospice this morning.  I was wondering if you had written the DD but forgot to send it out.  No worries if we don't get one today—

i  did do a dd yesterday... I wonder who I sent it to????by the time I shoot right leg.. left belly and take 2 ½  pills every other day along with blood sampling at 4 hours from shot---- new pup and his bowel movements where and when...   I goofed on the dd....janine arrival and a n emergency hospice care request ( which we did – horse and donkey )

I know they forgot to tell cloud.. who is keeping a beautiful record......i also know we have a hospice call in Swampscott we are trying to hit a day without rain for outside??   there is no one with more experience with donkeys and stairs and poo-ing than Janine.....janine was here to whip that one in NH together.....

The pup.. still nameless--- I am waiting for goldy to provide something suitable.. he is lovely and all wiggiley..  he is also hungry at midnight and 4 am so I am a little short on sleep.

Worse-er than usual...

Going to the vet this morning for probably a parvo shot—first puppy shot—I think he is too young for rabies...all the concern about not taking a young pup out in public for fear of germs of several kinds... this pup came out of a cardboard box at a horse auction—you can not be more exposed to anything than that environ ment;

I know she (DVM) will be doing ( and charging for an exam) which is ok... a brief looksee is probably a good idea. For fleas tooooo.....   —and we can talk about it...  they also asked me. To bring a stool sample to check for worms...wellllllllll.  I have never know a pup  that did not have worms.. and those puppy worms—verrmichelli looking)  are easily / cheaply treated...so sampling  is really not something we need to pay for...

I had a bunch of checking account spreadsheets to  wave in front of Janine... I am delighted to send one to all donors as long as you  promise not to get all bent if I have a typo or two--- it is only for planning.... concept of the way we have  spent money.

Like—in 3 months we charged 4 tanks of gas to goldy.....and $18700 on hay and feed for the 3 months...  about $1500 per week for a bunch of animals from puppy  food to horses hay.   I am happy to report your $10 hay bricks is keeping up pretty well.... and allowing us to take on these special hospice jobs at the spur of the moment...

Here's hoping I hit the right button for todays DD

 dd 3 25

I have caused my hair to be shorter than it was----- AKA haircut done by me--- thus saving $50 ---that pair of shears which I use to open boxes at mail call will also cause hair to be shortened ---no problem..no fancy expensive stainless steel,,, These are just a pair of shears that cut stuff---- hair included.\

What better to start a Monday than with Emile lagasse or whatever his name is With his toaster oven with which he creates the most amazing complete dinners well for at least 20 people He also has pans that fit exactly into his toaster oven So that when he pulls out the absolutely perfect sweet potato French fries along with the prime rib roast the setup is perfect for his helper//a cheerful woman who is paid good money for her most stressful action is to snap a French fry and say “ohhhhhhh” I think during this 20 minute commercial the longest word she uses would be “juiciest” for this she is paid good money...  I don't know why I never landed a job like that in my life....  I can stare at a slice of prime rib roast say juiciest but I never had the opportunity I must have been in the wrong location... This woman also has to say. “bam bam" when she shakes powdered sugar on a perfectly turned out cupcake produced out of the same toaster oven. I wonder if the minimum wage applies to this job because I might be willing to work for less to do that.

And I'm still on the orthodontic WAX at $6.95 for 8 little packets instead of $2000 professional dental filling and it is possible to totally forget it's there... until you bite into something like corn on the cob.. so if you do use this you have to consider directional biting.. and then it's perfectly possible way to save money .

Nick. Elizabeth husband  is now stuck in New York City where all of a sudden the hotels were $2000 a night an airfare if you could get a ticket was over $1000 to fly to Boston.. train seats were all booked.. now nick being from Scotland wanted to know what on earth is going on and was told it was March madness... and when he asked when is March madness ended he was simply told April.. the concept of a few basketball games absolutely inverting the financial stability of Manhattan was totally foreign to him. and frankly I don't know how March madness works either except it's basketball and what looks like a pedigree of winners.. someday when I have nothing to do I'm going to look up March madness and see exactly what they do that involves so much money/

it was suggested since Janine is coming north from South Carolina that she swing through Manhattan and pick up Nick whose other option is to stay there and work another week let's see if it goes away. Janine must have a trailer on because she's coming with a horse and a pony... so swinging through manhattan doesn't really swing too well.. I'm not sure they even let people on the island with trailers.. she better get nick over to New Jersey somehow.

With no dog job today – only trailer cleaning -----I had a bunch of jems to clip and save-

Carlene, I wrote you about steaming eggs for perfect peeling a while ago, I'm glad you are hearing about it more. It's the best way to get perfect boiled eggs. Unfortunately I can't eat eggs anymore.. please enjoy a few for me

Marina in Vancouver BC

it works ! i now have tried it,

 dd 3 24

What is this new bit about steaming—not boiling eggs? Someone sent me a little contraption which sits on the counter and you poke a pinhole in the fat end of an egg and set it on a tray with not very much water and you turn it on---the thing makes steam for a few minutes shuts itself off you put the eggs in cold water and they all peel perfectly..  I have tried everything I think including immersing the boiled eggs in cold water so I don't think that's the actionable factor here..  now I see there's a plain old news article about steaming eggs instead of boiling and that makes them peel perfectly... I may have missed the bit about poking the pin  hole in the fat end I don't know--- but whoever wrote that article was thrilled with eggs that peeled..  As anyone would be.

My crises of the day is to get all the fluffies off the fences before Janine gets here.  she has the strange idea that hanging laundry in the nice fresh air in the breezes and the rain and the sun and stuff like that makes it look like we're a third world country instead of a farm with sweet smelling bedding. but her feelings in that matter are quite strong--So I better get the laundry in before tomorrow I hope it gets dry.. I once had a deal. where I put a dog crate on top of my car filled it with wet  dog laundry and drove up and down 95 and it was dry.. Whatever works.

she is on her way up through Pennsylvania picking up a pony of some kind and I believe a standard bred... as part of this rescue network---- there is a farm somewhere that specializes in retired standard breds -- or trotters as I would call them---so she may be only providing taxi service but I think the pony comes here.

And then there's the continuing search for a pair of puppies for me to play with in this daycare project.

I really think that would be kind of fun---puppies add an element of surprise you never know what they're going to do--- and they look so happy-it's not easy to buy a puppy in the United states-- some of the Breeders---actually most of them--- try and protect the puppies with all sorts of questions to a potential buyer---and when I get to the question of how many dogs do you own or even worse how many animals do you own---some people think that's the puppy farm and they won't sell me a puppy

when an actual fact I rehome a puppy. Only when it gets adequately trained. so it will have a much happier life then an untrained dog.   My dogs do have a bit of a reputation of their own-- more than once I have had people approach me and ask ” is that one of carlene's dogs?”  so I will continue to struggle---  actually it's more fun than struggle but I'm on it.

 dd 3 23

That angry green storm looking radar  has dropped white stuff all over the ground...from size and shape I doon’t see how it can eventually be anything but rain... big time rain...

There goes my morning dealing with the donkey trailer...  I suppose I can warm up my car with the dogs in the back and drive around and around and around and think of things I've got to do..  like find the 2 inch ball  I am sure we have several in the back of Buds world.   It would be lovely to find my 3 ball hitch but I have a feeling that's gone away.

Brian was here yesterday to wave his hand over the herd of dogs and donkeys and things like that and make sure they all had rabies shots. he did comment on how completely changed the donkeys were from what he saw three weeks ago it's amazing how fast the donkeys will come round to deciding that people can give out cookies and that that's a good thing.

I am looking forward to having a  mini donk follow me into these day care places....  there ae a few really looking forward to starting that.

Thankfully last night's mail call filled up my cookie jar--   so now my cookie jar runneth over...shirley,goody and murphy I always thought were good puppy names....reminds me of the ted lecture by ken Robertson where he talks about

 “I send you gold”

“I send you  Myhre”

“ frank sent me”

What happened to the CP’s who sent mail from   Ben  Dover????  I miss them—(even if many went over my head)

Short doggie... I need to drink coffee and “ think  wonderful things”. ( that was peter pan wasn’t it?)

 dd 3 22

When you check in to Leahy which you're supposed to do 24 hours ahead you are asked to verify the information on file morning I had some emergency phone number with four 444 in it which I did not recognize

in an effort to change that I very carefully typed in my own number again... and twice---- like they ask you

and went on with the form---only to have Elizabeth arrive at the door in her jammies because somehow that 444 number although it was not hers it prompted hers to be called---do you have that?---she said all she could hear on her phone which had just dialed her was a mumbled conversation and she thought I was having a stroke and couldn't speak so she came running over here only to find me sitting here with the television going and it was the TV person online that she had heard and I still was diddling with phone numbers.  trying to avoid having the 444 wrong phone number be called ----I was not successful...

A perfect way to start a Friday which is not everybody's favorite day of the week around here...  there are certain days that seem to attract certain problems..  like all surgical problems with the dogs always happen on a Sunday when to go to the 24 hour veterinary care facility is at least 500 times the cost our visit on  a Tuesday.

I am still getting very positive reports from Elena about Gemini... and hopefully we will see her and him either Saturday or Sunday

the other thing for Saturday is to get me in a position of---- ready to go---with the lovely little donkey who goes upstairs..... so that when I am going to these daycare centers I can just have him hop in the back... and it would be no problem at all to wander into these places with a donkey,,,   should be simple for me to go anywhere with one donkey... when in my history I used to schleep around 8 at a  time. And often that 8 involved elevators which again should be no problem..  there's one donkey recommended by Elizabeth seems to be extremely level headed ....   as donkeys can be.  yesterday was rabies day here and doctor parrot AKA Brian

was here to give rabies shots to everybody and at the same time Elizabeth asked him to estimate the age of each of the animals we have as they all have come through rescue that we really don't know anything about them..

he put the age of that nice little donkey had 2 1/2 years ---poor thing's not even full grown yet that's probably why he walks upstairs without any problem... at any rate Brian also commented on the fact that we had taken totally wild uncontrollable animals and in the matter of a couple weeks turn them into quiet pleasant pets/.  which is another thing donkeys are famous for..  if you treat them like a dog they will behave very much like a dog

the only difference is you need treats for  them based from apples whereas the dogs need treats based on meat and bones...
We do have a call at the moment for a donkey in a Hospice facility in Swampscott...  Now you all know that roads around Boston were designed from cow paths---- well the roads getting to Swampscott we're designed by drunken cows//  which when I'm pulling a trailer will present a few challenges/let me rephrase that when somebody else is pulling the trailer and I'm riding as passenger it may be nerve wracking ----I am allowed to back it up..  by process of elimination I am the resident expert at trailer backing-- that is unless Janine arrives who has become very proficient at practicing with the trailer at the dump.
A call from hospice involves a bucket list-- so we better hurry

now on the process of puppy finding I thought I found a solution--2 puppies born in February in Pennsylvania

and I went to their web---I swear you could adopt A child easier then you could get a puppy from that kennel.  there are so many ways that a puppy might not have an ideal living condition that many AKC breeders try and protect them..  but I bravely started down through the application form checking off the fact that yes the puppy would be kept in the house and then I got to the sticky ones like did I believe in crate training? how many other animals did I have... who lives here and how old are they--  and it got worse from there -- by the time it got to the bottom of this form... the descriptions were so long that I just frankly stopped reading them however at the very bottom there was a notation of a $500 deposit was required to make an application and it was non refundable.... At which point I decided puppies from Europe were easier.. you buy the puppy--you give them money and they give you the puppy.. and they don't care how old the puppy is to be spayed or neutered or if you breed it or not it is your puppy...  I could appreciate what people are trying to do here but in fact it really doesn't work out/.  I try very hard to keep track of all the puppies I've produced and we'll continue to do that with jiminy

in my case I have the help of over 1000 people who help watch all across the country and I do hear of how things are going...--- it's very rarely---- I think I've had to send somebody after a puppy twice.  in my 20 years or so.

so Elena.---- you just keep those whipped cream cones coming to my friend Jimmy===

 dd 3 21

Elana says jiminey is doing perfectly enjoying those whipped cream boggie cups. And she said she would bring him here over the weekend....

Jiminey is a darn good dog and I'm glad she's really enjoying him.. i started of thinking Of the more perfect dogs that I have had the privilege of knowing maybe training a little bit and he's right up there..  the original is of course Tiffany who is resting out by the pond along with Bailey and Bentley.  I have been very lucky to have known them and to some degree to have been educated by them.
  I remember.....

I bought Tiffany from a woman named Laura who lived on Long Island.. and the deal was if I did breed Tiffany I would let her choose the stud and she would get half the price of any she helped to sell... that sounded reasonable---so in the process of making a decision I took Tiffany over on the boat so she could look at Tiffany and see whether tiff had developed into a breedable dog.. Which she of course did .  I didn't know one of Laura's dogs from the other but they all were gorgeous dogs and it turned out she bred Tiffany to Johnny  and I ended up with 9 lovely pups-in further conversations with laura—she told me to give away the merle as a junk dog.... I knew nothing.....I gave it to someone from nh who needed a dog to go to the pizza place with her – she was handicapped – then I made some comment to laura about which one I wanted to keep.. and laura said “ oh you can’t have any of this litter  I have them all sold.  Maybe you can keep one from the next  litter.” --- WWWHHHAAATTTTTTTT? I had never agreed to that.  So I just decided to keep all 8 which  is  how I got started on 8 dogs. which I hired out ---- on the queen size bed on a wagon......

And here we are--- not changed very much 22 years later- still wandering around making myself useful with a bunch of dogs...

True-ism of the day—he who strings 6 surge extension cords together  must learn how to flip the switch on the overload panel...   I know making heat takes a lot of electrical “juice”  but I was not aware that the  microwave was that “thirsty”  --- coffee- computer- printer- desk light is ok.  But coffee, computer  microwave is a no go...

That electrical jungle is just too complicated to even start to untangle.... complicated by “any  horizontal flat surface will accumulate non related objects...like the handle to the new wheel barrow  ,, next to the hand held a/c fan which is supposed to be an airconditioning one. Because it has a spray of water involved??????

A hand held “mister”?   it should work in theory--- it does have a small reservoir --  I bought it(amazon)  with Elizabeth in mind.... she is an extremely hard worker and is already complaining about the warm weather....  no way can we afford to have Elizabeth slow up.. so I am not only investigating the physical law  “evaporation is a cooling process...but also trying to keep her operational....

She has amazing things in her head----( either that  or she makes stuff up very quickly) YESTERDAY SHE CAME UP WITH A MARXist  THEORY THAT  people find the fault in others  of which they themselves are guilty.. I am not sure the reverse is true---   expecting honesty and integrity doesn’t always work out right.

Doing mail call with Elizabeth is good fun...  you can never tell what direction we will go in... last night the exact  content of a dog’s bowel movement-  along with the 3 inch individual hair growing out of my neck  was a good example.  Now...... there have been several ( at least 4) people who, on seeing me demonstrate the length of that one hair, have all remarked “if you had 2 more you could braid them”   an oddity in itself...

Today schedule..

Got to keep in mind today that I need a blood drawn 4 hours after I have the shot—which is supposd to happen at 12:00...so I must shoot at 8:00.  and we have a dog appointment at 10:00 in one of the places furthest from the blood drawing place... one of the Bill Cummings adult centers where I usually talk about screwy movie making stories. If no traffic or flat tyres we should make it.

Parting shot...

I dunno why my mother’s expression came to mind but....
“ there's too much month left at the end of the money”

Chipped tooth? $2000 dental bill?? or on television they're now advertising a fake tooth replacement (which doesn't work I tried it didn't work for me) but let me tell you what did work for $9.95 I bought probably a year's worth of dental wax it's actually made to cover the orthodontic wires .. But I've been wearing that wax now for three months the cover actually lost filling in my front tooth and you really can't tell... Well let me rephrase that the difference is not worth $2000... and thus far I've only lost 2 tiny pieces.. lost as in swallowed------ granted I can't eat corn on the cob but I can cut the corn off the cob for a lot less than $2000...   Besides whatever the dentist would do would I'm sure hurt and there's wax doesn't hurt at all coming or going.

I'm very happy to report that jimany finally had a bowel movement this kind of thing can be a problem with the dog who's used to being off leash to sniff out the proper place to move his bowels,,, I'm not sure what ellenas neighborhood looks like but I have a feeling that Elena puts the leash on it takes chimney for a walk and as far as Jimmy is concerned they are out there for a walk to go somewhere and he's not concentrating on moving his bowels but I did get an e-mail this morning reporting that she had now been successful-------I was gonna suggest that dh enring him here  to take care of that detail and then just take a piece of it home with her and put it somewhere and see if and it wouldn't have the correct smell and indicate where she would prefer he take care of this detail/

If she did have to bring him here I was going to have a good time seeing how these people on the Internet could turn that into something that I did wrong... Well I will admit that learning to move their bowels and pee while on a leash it's something I don't usually work on.. since my dogs have always had and in out door they become naturally house broken=== I'm not sure I could have the time or concentration on training to house break a dog... The first thing a puppy learns is to crawl toward momma's warm body to get some milk... the second thing a puppy learns is to crawl away from momma's body to get away from her flipping him around licking at his business areas To keep her nest clean... that's as good an explanation as anything,,, a pup will tend to crawl away and pee and come back at a very very young age I'm not sure they can even see it but I've seen it. so taking that instinct forward for a year and a half two years there might be a hesitancy to move their bowels on a leash...

I watch these people daily. walking their dogs up and Down boxford Rd. In all weather and stand there very dutifully as the dog does his thing.... I think if I had to do that I might never have had a house dog.. I have always managed to arrange some in out situation where they can solve the problem themselves.

as I'm trying to figure out right now if and when I got a puppy or two... I'm going to have to figure out how the puppy can get out onto the deck without my help... And without losing too much heat to the outside world... It is bound to be some collection of duct tape and that polymax sheeting which I do like so well--- comes from farm tech. in five foot by 10 foot sheets... which they send to you by freight all curled up in a 5 foot cylinder unless you opt for the very thick stuff which could not be curled...

I haven't yet called the breeder about buying a pup from her because I haven't yet figured out how to sound anywhere is near normal... basically what I want is a colorful puppy to go with me to these daycare centers.. and in the process I guarantee you I will have a well trained puppy within a month or two which eventually I could just plain give to somebody or keep... as I did with pasta--- a well trained dog is almost guaranteed to have a better life than an untrained dog... and I think you've heard me say that  it's about the same for children....

Today's schedule is leave here around 9:30 to go to Gardner park by 10:15..   Gardner park is an absolutely lovely adult care center which I personally hate because you park your car  and then have about 100 feet walk in the door with another 40 feet to the elevator which is the slowest elevator in the world---but luckily they now have a chair next to it because there's no way I could stand there forever and wait for it...  this is also the place where larkey  identified the secretary whose blood sugar was off that day ---and she knew it... if we ever decide to take a donkey there it's going to have to ride in that elevator probably -----I suppose I could investigate the front door..... however the donkey project is moving along... and finding the hook for the back of my car which somebody has taken off and put somewhere is my biggest problem at the moment we have a donkey that's pretty good.i need to fined that 3 ball hitch somebody borrowed/ stole. Whatever.... :(

 dd 3 18

So there's lots of jiminy things to write about today ..  Elena finally realized I don't do Facebook so therefore I was not getting the news from Facebook----- I really need to have it sent to me straight away.. and she reported they had made it to the local coffee shop where he very politely demolished one of those whipped cream coffee cup whatever they call it.. and that so far his manners are absolutely perfect -----I wish I could say that for everybody on Facebook..  there are all kinds of people putting out all kinds of information which is dead wrong.... there are people on Facebook who absolutely hate me and cannot wait for anything they can dream up to make my life miserable...   well congratulations... such a worthwhile goal..  And the concepts you can put out on the Internet are boundless...   there is no limit to what you can dream up to hurt somebody..  well how about it-
-   I am thrilled to have jiminy following around his new person From the morning shower to the mid morning coffee break at the local coffee shop..  and she so far reports his behavior as perfect..  Elena said she would bring him back this week for a few of his toys..  namely the the heavy duty fluffy bed blanket whatever that Janine bought for him..  if not for sleeping next to her bed it would do in the back of the car. And when he gets in the car to leave goldies farm again the last command he will hear from me. is  “GO”--  he proved he knew what that meant when Elizabeth and Elena we're walking him Meredith farm..  he spotted me in the car and came back and I told him to “go”--  so he turned around and ran back to them.   My generic training  includes not only “COME”. But also “GO”

It does come in handy when you least expect.....

I remember lying on the ground in the MBTA parking lot awaiting the ambulance after we both had been electrocuted.....—and one of the fireman had taken Bentley’s  leash in order for him to put him in my car---  bently objected to leaving me until I said “GO” and he turned around and walked off --- no problem..

The rest of that story was that Chaos was also in the car ( it being winter – no heated car problem....   and I was only practicing elevator training....)  so the fireman put bently in, drove to the emergency room  where both bent and chaos followed me in ( off leash_ ) and lay  Down—both of them   beside my gurney for ?an hour? While  someone managed a ride to come get me/them and my car...

Bent and chaos were both big dogs--- lying there in the active  emergency room  -- one of those time when I was really pleased with their behavior...all 300 pounds of them !!   what they could have done in that ER. Defies description....

Well then there are the internet experts who are commenting about my having a puppy—or heaven  forbid...2 puppies.... maybe they don’t remember—the most dogs I ever handled at once was the 34 for the pet shop ad... in downtown traffic in Newburyport—the photo is still around somewhere... and my usual puppy management of the original litter of 8 dogs which went to all the picnics on the crazy bed.... those photos are still a round too...---what it takes is planning ahead—which is what I am trying to figure out now....

The rug on this floor  is a problem--- until you realize no one knows or cares that wanda has literally used the whole  rug  as her litterbox--- but she’s so small and cute....—who knew??   I knew- and it was wanda- therefore acceptable...

So let me work on the project—the fact that the door to the deck opens the “wrong” way is my biggest problem at the moment...

To the new comer who wrote “ why if you need more pasta don’t you just go to the market and buy some”.  I wish I could find more pups that easily... but I am working on it...

Stay tuned and let me try and figure it out...  I have done this before..

 dd 3 17

no  problem with news to write about today..   Jimmy has been rehomed with Elena----not sure how we came up with her name except she has been around for a long time and was the first member of the shatupon society... and she and her husband had one of my first service dogs she/ or her husband,  who had one of the 3  merle girls..--and as time passed on she had one or two I forget of the 5 dogs I inherited with the rescue from New York ---at any rate she's been around so hopefully it's a perfect home for jimminey cricket .. On top of all her qualifications to be able to give Jimmy a perfect home, Elizabeth noticed she's slightly unsteady on her feet when she first gets up turns out he can help with that...

Elizabeth gave Germany and Elena a walk around Meredith farm while I sat in the car ---  when he came up to the car looking for me I very clearly told him to go and eventually he did just turn around and go back to them um so hopefully he has in his head that this is the right thing to do.. So I am hoping and trusting that she will make sure he comes back here so that he doesn't feel he's been deserted.. you know I'm very sensitive about. Puppy  raising a dog and then giving it to somebody else as a trained service dog ..  so I want to be very aware of what Jimmy thinks of this transition

she later called--she had been reporting her progress on Facebook which of course I don't do so I had no idea what was going on but she did call to say that they had gone to a Petco and he'd been perfectly behaved walking very carefully next to her and jumping in and out of the car with no trouble but she did comment that he did not eat his supper and I thought ----ohh dear---he's upset---- no dinner and this is going to be a problem and things like that----- and then I remembered that jiminy likes to have just a wee bit of parmesan cheese on his dinner...  so I told her that and she called back about 5 minutes later and she said he gobbled down the whole thing...  so there are things that I have to remember to share with her to make his transition easy.. and having her come back here maybe for mail call I don't know um but at any rate having her come back here so that he remains firmly planted in goldies farm. She will have to learn things like frying pans and baskets... But so far she is reporting that he is following her around from the kitchen to the bathrooms to the bedroom to the closet so it sounds about right.

I do have to admit life is a little simpler without the conflict between malarkey and Gemini  --- plus there's the interesting scuttle of  trying to find a puppy or two to go to the nursing homes... and eventually become a useful dog citizen..   I'm a little upset actually I'm more than a little upset at not having a young puppy to bring along... I am a dog trainer.... I like training dogs... And my definition of being a dog trainer is that all my dogs should behave pretty near The canine good citizen as defined by the AKC... I will never be convinced when someone claims to be a dog trainer and they've got a dog right at their feet which doesn't behave worth a damn... so if I get a puppy or two it gives me another challenge.. pasta took 11 days from being in a group home with his litter to being a pretty good cannine good citizen.  And I'm told and I have seen....  now he's behaving perfectly in the home in which he finds himself...  And though he's happy to see me, he's quite firmly attached to his new owner who's about a 25 year old girl/// woman??

So I'm searching for one. Or even2..   puppy to play with and to entertain people... which eventually would become a useful citizen in the dog world.. I did hear some comment lately about not training a dog that was going to be used for breeding... I totally reject that concept as a cop out for running a puppy farm. The female I have now --- sizzle ---- had two litters--and I'd be happy to demonstrate the canine good citizen test with her at any time.. Any puppy I get... be it buying or rescuing.. will become trained to that level... and used in adult care centers in the process.  Doesn't take that much and it gives the dog so much better life... than being a puppy factory.

Just looking around the internet for puppies... I had to glance at the dogs from Czech—have a look --- Claudia bohemia kennel -- absolutely lovely dogs---\

J...U....D...Y---  you flew once to Copenhagen and back in 24 hours---- how do you feel about. Frankfurt????  It  has direct flights to boston... and they have pups

A harl would be lovely  -- or a merle with white trim would be great too....

Anybody know of any dane pups that need rescuing?  I am up for it...

one of my favorites....
