 march 31,2015
i tried to attach a great picture of last year's dogfest-- where megan was giving
a training lesson to aLL TH ECROWD.. ABOUT OFF LEASH TRAINING
we try very hard not to use any of our muscles to manage a dane..
first of all-- they don't like it abd asecond eventually thier muscles are going to be better than mine...

it really is a lesson in   trust me and all will be well- which is the basis for service dog partnerships.

the washer int he guest house has been relplaced-
it pains me to think the motor in th old one is probably useable for something-- but we don't have that something..
]
like-- they  use motors like that in those hay elevators.-- which we do not have-- or need.. so we throw th e washer out???
it bothers me,
i hope someone at the  "tranjsfer station" will find it... i will try and tell my friend- the dump manager- that it is there.
i keep reminding all that  politittians may come an d go-- but the people who collect and manage our trash are the important ones in our lives.

i am reminded of the video i saw of the mounds of bagged trash  which they said was outside nearly every chinese city-
it was being picked over by small children and large birds.
***********
dogfesting is coming to mind.... especially since the florida bunch had a "practice dog fest"
and calif and mo are  thinking of getting together. sdp is big on partying with food... any excuse is better than none.
****
along with juggling...  by dogfest time ( sept) we are going to have hundreds of the purina dog food little plastic dishes which need some creative outlet

creativity is  being challanged here ( back to TED  lecture  by ken robinson)  we still have notg solved teh $2 BILLS YET...
we have a bunch..   we may have lucked out on that one..  somebody said they hjave stopped making htem..
in which case, along with puppy breath we could sell them for  4 easy payments of $3.99  and
we will include a second one if you pay the shipping and handling of $17.84.

i gave up on pub clearing house.. i will just have to live without the $7000 per week.
i was having a good time buying handy things i did not really need.  but then they tried to trick me by offering a bunch of stuff for $4.99
which i was going to go for  - COUPLE FLASHLIGHTS  ETC...- until 3 screens later they-- in the fine print said 4 payments of $4.99..
I LOOKED BACK to find the origionsl SIGN UP WAS ONLY A PLAIN ONE TIME 4.99. and they added the othr bit in fine print..
 it ruined  all my fun.
**************
i was pleased that regarding this  bit  i am to write for Explore's blog, they were not shocked at the photo of walter at the fridge.
my impreswsion was that tom  wanted something more .... unusual...
my dilemma  is.. just how unusual???--  so i sent them walter at the fridge--
as a test-- with no verbiage attached as a test case..  they didn't seem shocked..  thankfully... it gives me some room to have some fun with it.
*********
now a venting

we have had a problem lately with volunteers making decisions which really should be run by "the establishment"   i.e. megan or me..
i am not just blowing smoke.. yesterday--- we had some massive diarrhea - and i had just the usual "not again"  thought,
until i went to feed the little pups some goats milk.  i had opened a new can yesterday-  we use 3 tbsp per bottle,
and the new can was down to the bottom- then i hear  there was a discussion about how much and often we should be feeding
scarlott- and we were not doing it right.  ok....
maybe we aren't, but when you run your own program, you can do it your way.. but in the meantime-- it is great to disagree, but talk to us about it
and don't just do something like that. or tell someone else to do it.

i am a bit sensative about having  people who are just learning to handle our dogs- acting - in public  like they are experts by using  their connection to  sdp.  megan and i have decided we will
sign plastic badges  which you must have  to take a dog of our into public.  like the certifications that the recipients carry.

we need more control of who does what  with which dog where--- megan has certain requirements for off site..
those "off site  badges " will  help.

march 30, 2015
wowowowooo

sold out with a day to go !!!  just in time for grace to "take off"
she has family in the netherlands--  so it is a great opportunity for her to take some time off
from doing sooooo much around here.
i wanted to give you  her flght numbers   so you could track her progress..
but all she has given me is her arrival time in schiphol airport -- which is  8:20 tues am..

we  have a few people who have said they will try and keep the laundry up to date while she is gone.

the other chicken brick newss is that a couple people who shoulod have got  the cards -
- have had their envelopes returned.. so if you bought a brick dec  jan  feb  abd did not
get a caqrd, send me an email.. annie is on that project.
--*******
moving on .. keeping focused...
IF... by rudyard kipling......  (my mother gave me $10 to learn it when i was very young...)
*************
the pups may have to come in 4 crates instread of 2  because of their size...
the only good thing about that is we will have more crates around to house
wanda-- she is a holy terror- putting another hole in chaos...

earlene and paul took her on a long walk -- chaos always looks so much  happier  after she spends time with them...
then she comes in and sleeps on the sofa with a "i will just wait for them to show up again" look about her.

******
on tv this morning  was "they hacked my brain"  and it was put on by luminosity-
i have forgotten which pup is which-- but one is luminosity  .
*****
the show was fascinating-- about improving your brain --- and it was not a sales pitch
but following one guy as they did all kinds of experimnents on him and gave him games to play.

none of which i could do except to think about...
the one that fascinated me is... teaching anyone to juggle will improve thier reaction time
and general thought process.

what a great idea.... back when... my kids were  about 10 and we had that foolish kids circus, i
started one summer by telling  the whole group to learn to juggle by the august performance

so the whole summer we had kids wandering around throwing 2 or 3 things in the air.
most of the time picking them up off the ground...... but  the did learnj.... and the concept was very valid
it takes no million  dollar equipment--- couple pair of rolled up sox or  couple oranges.

what a great idea for dogfest--- not really a contest--- but a group activity would be amusing...
if you all start now... how to diorections are all over  the place, but  from my scant knowledge
start with one and say one-two  as you throw and catch..
then proceed to 1-2-3-4 sequence with a throw throw catch catch-

a very amusing and unusual thing to do---  so practice that !!  we will have a juggling activity at dogfest

dawn--- ? a good group activity for  your kids  ?
**********
janine rode my horse yesterday and he behaved very nicely...
ryan just came in and i asked him to build me antoher set of steps like thei ones in the areana
otherwise it will have to be the bucket of the tractor !!!

march29 2015
hold off emailing julia... she is on overload.. so please stop ---     yyou are  filling up her inbox !!  she reads the comments so ask/tell  hjer stuff there.

i don't want anyone to find out about why the sound with the pups has been so bad... i think it is better now...- when they put it in  i was told i had a choice betwseen  zero and mute..  being challanged technically, i believed  them--- when i put it on zerio  the pups noise caused a green  line to fluctuate about 1/4 an inch..-  the problem is/was---  when going from mute to zero, there were a whole bunch of numbers down in a straight line-- and i went so far as to ask them if i could try bigger numbers-- somehow that never got communicated--i was afraid it might do something too big and blow up all this transmitting business that i don't understand.. i took him literally ... mute.. or zero.
but today i got brave  and put it on 30.5  whi9ch is about 1/2 way down my lkist of available num,bers.-.and teh green line is 2" loing... now you can really ehear my typing at my desk and the puppy noises are much bigger -- but so is teh tv..  phone conversations and kitchen conversations are now on the nursery camera too...  soo that will have to get shut off..  i have my black girilla at my elbow to remind me of the 800 pound girilla in the room.. the mic.

also at therea's elbow-- hanging from the rafters is my new saddle--  i did not want the dogs to figure it was a new chew toy.. and tehre are not alot of places to put it where they can not reach it-- since wanda now goes up and down stairs regularly  things like graity and forces on the rafters, i needed to keepo it close tothe wall

steve just came in and  suggested the  pipes of the arena-- perfect..  but theresa really needs to have a picture taken with this hanging over her head...

************
the pups are apparently 17 days old... almost spoon feeding time..  where is earlene when  we need her?????
**************
redesigning the t tent today--- and maybe carrying teh fridge and ovento then back---  the front gets sooo congested-- and if they are coming to redo lelectrical; then a few outlets in the back would make life easiert.  ( up on the rafters..)
***********
electrical.... a big deal--- heads up ---
teh electrrical comes out of the laundry buliding-- and  for openers it never has had a metal cover on the box.... which by now has wires sticking every direction... sheila's husbanbd who is an elect  type has fussed abouit it ever since he saw it..  so --- plan is to redo the elect box properly- up to code-  - and then install the  heat/ac in that building--
the problem is... the camera "stuff"   buth camera and wireless to thge house-- comes out of the t tent-  and they are going to have to shut it off..   they origionally said 8 hours-- when scarlott was about to have pups.. so i stopped that-- now we have redesigned the project to be able tyo  use our generator for the 8 hours that is down...  but even that will involve being off line completely for 15 min at the beginning and 15 minutes at the end... so be prepared  and pass that around......  it is a job long overdue.  i will let you know when it is about to happen...
************
grace is ready to go --- tomorrow--- with a pocket full of fun fund money--

maybe we can have a final push to get   the bricks sold out before she goes...???   don't anyone buy more bricks if it is  inconvenient....  but if you can...
you can all now claim as co- owning  all these dogs anyway...
**************
 bottle time...
**********
and we need an appliance repair person today-- the washer int he guest house is on strike.

GOOD MORNING CARLENE,

WITH ALL THE HOOPLA GOING ON WITH THE JOANNA STORY, I HAVE STAYED AWAY FROM COMMENTING ON ANYTHING REGARDING THE STORY  ON FACEBOOK AND EXPLORE, AS I DON'T WANT TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH A NEGATIVE STORY..BUT,

I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I AM SINCERELY GRATEFUL, AND THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART, FOR HAVING FAITH IN LYDIA CHOOSING ME AS HER NEW HUMAN. PLEASE KNOW, I KNOW, JUST HOW BLESSED MY LIFE HAS BECOME SINCE HAVING HER IN IT. SHE IS TRULY AMAZING, HAS SAVED ME MANY TIMES FROM FALLING, HAS MADE ME LAUGH WITH HER GOOFY LOOKS, AND QUIRKY WAYS.

SHE IS VERY LOVED IN MY HOME, BY NOT ONLY MYSELF, BUT MY BOYS (YOUNG MEN) AS WELL. LYDIA AND I SLEEP EVERY NIGHT TOGETHER ON THE COUCH, ME ON THE RECLINER PORTION, AND HER ON THE REST. :~) SHE HAS A VERY COMFY DOG BED, BUT PREFERS THE COUCH AS MOST DANES DO.
BEFORE MY SONS GO TO THEIR ROOMS EVERY NIGHT WHEN I AM READY FOR BED, THEY COME OUT TO KISS LYDIA ON THE HEAD AND TELL HER THEY LOVE HER LITERALLY..SHE GETS HER KISS AND PAT FIRST, BEFORE "MOM", BUT THAT'S OKAY WITH ME! :D

WE HAD AN APPT. THIS WEEK AT DARTMOUTH WHICH WE WERE THERE MANY HOURS, SHE DID FABULOUS, AND RECEIVED MANY COMPLEMENTS. SHE IS AN AMAZING GIRL!

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO, FOR HAVING THE FAITH IN ME AND LYDIA, AND BLESSING MY LIFE WITH THIS GORGEOUS GIRL..SHE IS GOD SENT THROUGH YOU, AND SDP!

THANKS AGAIN,

march 28 2015
ready set go !!!
yesterday we unloaded the fun fund into a credit card for grace to go and with twan pick up the
4 pups from the netherlands.... they will come with all properly done papers, reg with the duetschdoggie
the german registration for dogs. it would be possible to transferr the reg to the akc - i have never bothered.
akc provides a strange co-owner system- i don't know how we could list all of you as co- owners
- but that is what you all are. make no doubt without the chicken bricks we would not even be....
and without the funfund i would not have tried importing these.
it is a gamble .... we gambled on kiarra and i was very worried we had lost the bet
with that bad uti she had-- but she is beautiful now...
************
my chore of the day is to work up the finanicial plans for the next 2 years. and send them to the annenberg foundation
so i am very glad to have 3 cut and pastes for this dd..

Carlene
.we're on our way to the next
part of the journey of getting home, but this time as Rodes, Party of Three. The
part I had really wanted everyone to see was a sign that Ethel and I made,
telling everyone thank you.

I am a four year paraplegic and during
that four years, I became Miss Wheelchair South Carolina, I graduated Cum Laude
from college and survived my husbands deployment. But it wasn't until the other
day going shopping at Old Navy with Ethel did I feel as independent as I was
before my accident. Thank you everyone for supporting SDP, so that I could have
this gift.

The photo is of Ethel with our T-shirt blanket that I made when I
was first accepted as an applicant for SDP.
If you like it, I'd love to have it in the Daily Doggie

HI CARLENE,
I WANTED SHARE A FEW TOUCHING MOMENTS I EXPERIENCED LAST WEEK. IT STARTED WITH BETTY BEING ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL’S EMERGENCY ROOM ON WEDNESDAY. A BIT OF A SCARE, BUT SHE IS OKAY. BETTY WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE ER. THERE IS NOT A LOT OF ROOM IN THE AMBULANCE SO IVY AND I HAD TO FOLLOW BY CAR. ONCE WE REACHED THE HOSPITAL, BETTY WAS ADMITTED AND THE NURSES AND DOCTORS GOT TO WORK. IVY AND I HAD TO WAIT A FEW MOMENTS WHILE THE MEDICAL STAFF DID THEIR THING. IVY WAS NOTICEABLY STRESSED BECAUSE SHE COULDN’T GET TO OR SEE BETTY. ONCE THE MED STAFF GAVE THE OKAY, THEY ALLOWED IVY AND I BACK TO HER ROOM. AS SOON AS IVY SET EYES ON BETTY SHE JUMPED INTO HER HOSPITAL BED WITH A PRONOUNCED HAPPY TAIL. IT’S AMAZING, THEY WERE ONLY SEPARATED FOR LESS THAN AN HOUR, BUT IVY REACTED LIKE THEY WERE SEPARATED FOR GREATER THAN A DAY. AN AWESOME SHOW OF DEVOTION!
ANOTHER TOUCHING MOMENT WAS IVY’S ENCOUNTER WITH A YOUNG GIRL IN THE ER WHO WAS DISTRESSED HAVING BEEN TOLD THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO BE TRANSFERRED TO A BOSTON HOSPITAL. AS BETTY AND IVY WERE WALKING BY THIS GIRL’S ROOM (RETURNING FROM AN IVY POTTY BREAK) BETTY SLOWED DOWN SO THAT THE GIRL COULD TAKE A PEEK AT IVY. WITHIN A MATTER OF 5 SECONDS, A SMILE RETURNED TO THE YOUNG GIRL AND SHE PREPARED FOR HER TRIP TO BOSTON. IVY ONLY HAD TO BE IVY TO GET THE GIRL TO SMILE.

i really should have  used the word SOME  more often in describing my experiences with the law profession.  this cp- kathleen -is clearly not one of the ambulance chasers to which i referreed in yesterday's dd,   my children call me up on too much "profiling" -- and i have to remind them i am one of the generations of being called a "dumb broad"-- i should be more careful .
sorry kathleen  i take some of it back.....:)

HELLO, CARLENE,
I'M VERY SORRY TO HEAR THAT SDP WAS DUPED BY AN IMPOSTOR. I KNOW THAT I WOULD BE FURIOUS IF I WERE TAKEN IN BY A WOMAN CLEARLY ADEPT AT THE LONG CON. KNOWING THAT MANY OTHERS WERE ALSO TRICKED MAY NOT BE A COMFORT TO YOU, BUT IT CONFIRMS THAT OTHER KIND AND INTELLIGENT PEOPLE WERE TAKEN IN BY HER AS WELL. I'M NOT SURE HOW THE SHOCKING NEWS OF JOANNE'S DUPLICITY TURNED INTO A TIRADE ABOUT LAWYERS. AFTER THIRTY YEARS OF BEING ONE I SUPPOSE I SHOULD HAVE A THICK SKIN AND LAUGH IT OFF, BUT TODAY IT HURTS. YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS OF HEARING SO-CALLED LAWYER JOKES HAS WORN ME DOWN, TOO.

THE DD IS YOUR DAILY OPPORTUNITY TO "LET 'ER RIP", AND I DON'T WANT THAT TO EVER CHANGE. BUT TODAY, IT HURTS A BIT. I KNOW ABOUT YOUR NEGATIVE BIAS TOWARDS ATTORNEYS FROM PREVIOUS DD's. PLEASE TRY TO REMEMBER THAT MOST OF US ARE HARD WORKING, ETHICAL PEOPLE WITH HIGH MORAL STANDARDS. WE AREN'T ALL - NOT EVEN A MAJORITY OF US - MONEY-GRUBBING BASTARDS OUT TO MAKE A BUCK.

DUE TO ILLNESS, I'VE BEEN OUT OF THE LAW ARENA FOR MANY YEARS. I ONCE TOLD A CHICAGO COP THAT I "USED" TO BE A LAWYER. HE SAID. "ONCE A LAWYER, ALWAYS A LAWYER. IT'S THE SAME AS BEING A MARINE." I SUPPOSE THERE IS SOME TRUTH TO THAT. I WAS PROUD TO BE A LAWYER REPRESENTING PEOPLE WHO WERE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST IN THEIR PLACES OF WORK, CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES WHO WERE NOT RECEIVING THE SERVICES MANDATED BY FEDERAL LAW, PARENTS WHO NEEDED TO GO TO COURT TO BECOME LEGAL GUARDIANS OF THEIR DISABLED CHILDREN WHEN THEY REACHED THE AGE OF MAJORITY, AND MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAD SUFFERED A WRONG THAT HAD A REMEDY AT LAW.
I WAS PROUD TO UPHOLD THE RULE OF LAW. I WOULD DEFEND YOUR RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH EVEN IF I DISAGREED WITH WHAT YOU SAID.

NOTHING YOU SAID TODAY CHANGES MY ATTITUDE TOWARDS SDP. I SIMPLY WANTED TO GIVE YOU MY REACTION. I WILL CONTINUE READING THE DD, WATCHING THE PUPPIES AND DOGS, BUYING CHICKEN BRICKS (I'M PROUD TO BE A MEMBER OF THE SHAT UPON SOCIETY), MARVELING AT YOUR CREATIVITY, AND ENJOYING THE PRIVILEGE OF BEING A WITNESS TO ALL THAT YOU, YOUR STAFF, AND VOLUNTEERS DO.
 THANK YOU. RESPECTFULLY YOURS,
KATHLEEN

march 27 2015
lydia/joanne-- top news.. indicted for stealing from the boston bombing one fund.. among other things.
certainly  i   decided alot of things - which is why we took the dog back.

WHEN DID I KNOW?  I THINK IT WAS   the day i said "hey you forgot your cane."
by then she had lydia...

clearly she was dead wrong...  but i can not discount the fact that she had help
in this "business" of being a victim.
certainly lying is pretty high on the list of ...." don't do that!"  but in running
her business, free advertising was high on her list.
having a service dog was one more thing to hit the news..

i do have alot of questions---- that being said... i would also like to see several other people questioned..
like any doctor who provided her with documentation and saw her twice a week for "treatments"
how much of what she did get went to pay lawyers for egging her on?

i know she spent a great deal of mental energy on  how to get more from the One Fund..

her mother is a lovely woman..  and last i saw her, very confused.

****************
unfortunately -- there is too much in the US  which is geared to  producing victims .
#1.   the  tv ads-- "if you have a loose tooth  come to our law offices- we specialize in loose teeth
and you should not have to suffer because of some dentist's loosening your tooth.,
IT WILL NOT COST YOU ANYTHING TO GET WHAT YOU DESERVE.... and make money for me"
#2.    the school system--since you have a doctors note about adhd, you are entitled to special education
and are not required to write in a legible fashion ( that was a community service - perfectly normal looking/acting   kid from the ipswich school system). ---  now with 87% of the kids on special ed- there is no money for the genius types.
#3.     the VA- "you are 100% disabled  because of a bunch of hardware in you-  the 100%  disability check will get you not enough money to live on, but if you go get a job, your disability will go down to 72%.   i swear the va is responsible for 1/2 the PTSD all by itself..

if you ask me...  and wisely so, no one did.... i would outlaw the  lawyer's help wanted ads, redo the school system and the VA

being a helpless victim   is a national  occupation-
instead of.. life is not fair-- get over it and get on..

just wait til some of these  people  hit old age with all it's problems -- and no one to sue because of it...

gwen ( daughter) and  i had a long discussion at dinner the other day about
national trends...  the germans do things right, the british have a stiff upper lip,
and the americans  are victims who are entitled.

before the roof comes down on my head,  yes there are people who are very entitled.
but there are a bunch who are not.-  the gap in the middle is filled with lawyers.

my classic example... college roommate in Edinburgh-- 'nother gwen... was in a car accident
and had severe damage to her arm-- when it was all healed she can not straighten it all the way.
her british attitude of   "i am lucky to have the arm"
this  is 180 degrees from " the doctor must have done something wrong and our law firm will get you millions for
having to go thru life with a not quite straight arm."
********
tomorrow i will vent on bankers... maybe
*********
jackie has arrived-- with a bunch of food from  spinelli's  which we all enjoyed..
**********
julia and ethyl are doing  famously-- what a great couple they are-- she is lucky in one way-- she is married to a great guy- and they work together beautifully  ( she and husband ,,.... and she and dog)
they are enroute to MO  today around noon..  he is still active military.

ethyl is still on meds from some strange tick borne problem--  george and one other  vet have given her the  "should be ok, let us pray and stay in touch"
i always get so nervous about a person who has become so absolutely dependent on a dog... except  ethyl has shown julia there is a  stregnth after becoming wheel chair bound. hopefully they will have a long happy life together..

march 25 2015
puppies bottle fed.. now... i remember why i own a pair of welding gloves- and why i question whether
moms have any sensory nerves on the milk bar. those toesnails are brutal -- and theh thrash about with
them- it may stimulate moms milk  but it sure turns off the surragate mom with the bottles !!! i mss earlene's help

and with grace leaving the country,  life is going to be TOUGH !!!!

eyes are open-- they are crawling right on schedule- and we are surching for the white shelving to contain
them  wile letting scarlott jump over-  it used to be in the rafters of the nutt house... but that was before
we got organized..  right !   "it must be in the cellar?????"  my problem with that is-- we never go there
in normal travel so we  it becomes   anything missing "must have been stored on the new shelving in th e cellatr"
it is the same theory with the water buckets... i don't care if having them by the door makes you trip over them,
... you see them.....is there water -- are they clean/fresh??- put them inb the back "out of the way...
any you could have 3 day old water with a dead bird floating in it.... and a sick dog...
-----so trip over them

we had a class of kids from the community college-- and as usual there are always a student or two who
weould be very handy to have around here..  AND I  have the name of the teacher.. somewher.

***********
tracy has just come in and my serenity is about to be disrupted again.. she / and pam have reorganized the
stuff.. moving the twoel rack which is also loaded with the candy.. over by the front door- and moving th e file
cabinet behind the puppies-- it does make sense..
we go in that file cabinet maybe once /twice a day-- and we need emergency towels (and candy) many
more times a day than that..

luckily in my fascination with  wheeled dollies ( i love wheeled things) all these things are on wheels.
i am sure i did not have enough of the kind of things i wanted to play with as a kid...
if anyone had ever explained how an axle works, i shutter to think what i would have built
because i kept collecting wheels, with no idea of how to make them work.

the current  result of all that is in the back of the arena( unless someone has organized the place)
i have a strange collection of "round thingd"--- and before anyone makes too much fun of that,
all the cp's at dogfest gave us the  "welcome to crazy acres" sign in the driveway..
the granite is circled by and anitque wagon rim.. - it must have been a darn big ewagon..
the other rim is in the t tent fireplace-- and the third one in the tip[i
so there must be one more around somewhere...
***********
the purina  "canned food " arrived yestrerday-- it is the kind in little plastic dishes-- which means .
. we will have a huge quantity  of little 4"x2" dishes-- somehow we need to figure out something clever to do with them
--- besides screws and nails...
******************
last night-- on th escience channel- which i am forced to watch since fios gave up weather ( too controversial?)
i learned one thing--   used  office paper is the main ingredient for papertowels-- i can not think of a better use
for paperwork than blotting up sh#t..
************
we still are not home free on the accreditation bit.. more questons...

luckily both my children have minds that work like accreditation  stuff...
"they need a"policy"  so they can check off the little box"
right....  that is why i put big red stickers on the big red cylindars that are  fire extinguishers.

WHY THERE IS NO DD TODAY-- I AM LATE WITH TEH END OF YEAR REPORT FOR THE FREEZER.... SO THIS IS THE NARATIVE.. I NOW HAVE FINANCES TO DO.
THE PICTURES ARE ON THEIR COPY

NOW SOMEONE HAST O COME TYPE IT FOR MEW.

FINAL REPORT ON THE  WONDERFUL WALKIN FREEZER MADE POSSIBLE BY ALCES.

THE MEAT PROCESSING FINANCES
POURING CONCRETE PAD ………………..…………………………….…….$1500
WASHABLE  SHED TO PROCESS THE FROZEN  CHUNKS          ..… ….…2000
KOLPAK 6X6X8  ’WALK IN FREEZER      ..…………………………………....…6750

WHY  WAS THIS WAS NECESSARY…?
IT STARTED WHEN  WE  TOOK 5 DOGS IN TRAINING  INTO THE  ROAST BEEF SANDWICH  STORE NEAR LIBERTY TREE MALL- SOMEH0W  FIVE   150 POUND  DANES CAUGHT THE  EYE OF THE  MANAGER.—JIM--    NICE MAN – DOG LOVER.. HE ASKED IF WE COULD USE HIS BEEF ENDS THAT WOULD NOT GO THRU HIS SLICER.- OF COURSE  WE COULD-- WITH 50 ODD DANES ON THE  PROPERTY     THAT TURNED INTO HAVING HIM DELIVER ABOUT 300 POUNDS OF BEAUTIFUL BEEF WEEKLY—FROZEN IN LARGE CHUNKS—EVEN TOO BIG FOR DANES..

^%$^&^  NO PHOTO  IN THIS DD   BEEF CUTTING AT FIREPLACE

FOR MONTHS  VOLUNTEERS SPENT  HOURS  CUTTING  THEM INTO CHUNKS IN FRONT OF OUR FIREPLACE—INTIL  ONE OF THE VOLUNTEERS HAD THE BRAINSTORM OF USING THE WOOD CHIPPER HER HUSBAND USED TO CHOP TUNA BAIT..  WE TRIED IT.   THE WOOD CHIPPER DID WORK… BUT SPRAYED BEEF ALL OVER ..     DONNING TYVEK SUITS WE MOVED THE OPERATION TO THE  YARD FOR A FEW MONTHS AS  WE STRUGGLED TO IMPROVE OUR EFFICIENCY.

PHOTO PTOBLEMS  BEEF CUTTING IN YARD
..- BUT STILL THE ONLY PLACE   I COULD WASH AND CLEAN  THE  MACHINE WITH HOT SOAPY WATER —WAS IN MY SHOWER.  A VERY CUMBERSOM PROJECT- BUTIT WAS WORKING AND THE  BEEF WAS A BEAUTIFUL DIET FOR THE  PUPS. ( WITH  TUMS ADDED -PRESCRIBED BY THE VET FOR CALCIUM).
WE  ROTATED THE  BEEF  IN 3 COOLERS AND  6  USED DONATED  FREEZERS IN MY CELLAR.- THEN 2 CEASED TO FUNCTION  PLUS WE GOT CONFUSED…CAUSING A STENCH BEYOND A DUMPSTER SMELL–  NOT WANTING TO ASK JIM TO BRING LESS BEEF ,   WE HAD TO GET RID OF THE EXTRA FOR WHICH WE HAD NO STORAGE … WE  DUG  DEEP HOLES WITH THE  BACK HOE AND TREATED OUR WORM POPULATION TO A FEAST.  ONCE OR TWICE IT WAS NO PROBLEM- BUT VERY SOON- EVEN WITH 12 ACRES WE  HAD OMINIOUS MOUNDS VAGUELY RESEMBLING GRAVE SITES  OVER  MUCH OF THE AVAILABLE LAND.

OUR 60+ VOLUNTEERS WERE PERFECTLY WILLING TO  HAND CUT ALL THIS BEEF --- IF IN THE LONG RUN IT MADE FOR MORE AND BETTER SERVICE  DOGS.    HOWEVER  THE SYSTEM  NEEDED REDESIGNING.

NOT WANTING TO DISTURB THE BOARD OF HEALTH, WE  LOOKED INTO A WALK IN FREEZER OUTDOORS… WE CONSULTED AN EXPERT – A  MCDONALDS  FRANCHIESE OWNER. THIS IS WHERE ALCES CAME IN AND SAVED THE  DAY—NOW WE  USE  ALL THE BEEF HE   BRINGS- WE CAN EVEN OFFER THE FROZEN CHUNKS TO THE PEOPLE TO WHOM WE HAVE DONATED DOGS.
WE CAN ALSO STORE THE 3 GALLON TUBS OF ICECREAM OCASSIONALLY DONATED BY BEN AND JERRYS. THIS KEEPS  OUR VOLUNTEERS HAPPY.
… ……..HAPPY VOLUNTEERS ARE EXCELLENT ( AND CHEAP) HELP.

march 24 2015
we got thru the ides of march-- next litter should be the lusty month of may..i will  "try"  yellow one more time today -- stay tuned... and contrary to popular belief  i  know it is 63 days gestation, not 83--- one of my more famous typos...

pups will get goats milk today^%%&(**&^8 it .. we seem to have located the baby bottles where i thought we kept the flower  vases we never use... still need to locate  one of the the 2 blenders we own.
goats milk does not go into solution  willingly... and if there is a glob it will stick in the nipple meaning that after the pup sucks on it for the prescribed 10 seconds to start... he has had no goats milk..]

but the biggest disaster is that heatinjg up air expands the volume..sooooo.. you take a cold bottle , fill it with warm milk.. put the nipple on and shake it- and you could drown a pup-- because  the warm milk heats the air in the bottle, expanding it , the nipple has just enough "give" not to notice until  you invert the bottle in the pups'mouth when it comes squirting out the hole. so we have a shake an d invert over the sink until it quits-- even then if there is a question, loosen the cap and tighten again.

we start with 2  ounces for the 9 pups.-- and give each pup  10 seconds before twisting the bottle and taking it away.  under feeding is far better than overfeeding... you do not want to hear any kind of gurggle.    they will get what they need from  mom- so this is just a boost and let them nurse all they want.

SINCE we have many newcommers- and this is supposed to be educational....- get ready for the way moms feed pups next-- which is to vomit the contents of thier stomachs. and the pups will rush in to  the 1/2 digested  feast.
think--- wolves bringing breakfast home the easy way.  this  method hangs on even now..  tho some moms seem to be more "generous"  than others.

so do not call me on the phone and tell me she is sick and the pups are eating it.
your  whole camera community has come a long way since the 2am call telling  me there was a bird in the barn.

i was amazed no one called last week when it looked like a dead rat  was  on the bed in kennel 10..  i did not know the pups had been given a toy rat-- i almost went toi the  barn myself   at 5am to remove it when  i  thought-- it can not get any deader- -- we do not have any rat poizon on the property---- and  we were in the process of getting more   snow,  so i left it there...

the next step in feeding  pups  is to grind puppy chow to the consistency of predigested vomit.. and teach tehm to eat out of a bowl.. this is where messy takes a whole new meaning.  because this is where mommy no longer cleans up after them..  her theory  "i did not put that struff in them and i  ain't cleaning it up when it comes out."

from there it is to their own bowls in a row, to eating canned food off a spoon waiting theri turn-- and we are on our way to a finished dog !!

I WONDer if we could reproduce that gagging vomitimg noise to call the pups..  it is certainly an effective way mom's call them.. we have to resort to tapping on the cans.

and speaking of cans-- purina has said they will give us some-- a pallet  --- should arrive in a day or so..   that will be 1200 cans !!!    wooowoowooowoooooooooo

you can not say we feed purina  just  beacuse it was donated.... i can prove it... long before i was a charity-- i provided dogs ( and cockroaches and cows) for movies/advertising etc in the new england area.. i had a bunch of dogs  of may kinds-- and i fed soooooo much purina dog food that i "earned "  5 Bose radio's- from cutting off teh weight circles-- i can not remember how many  circles but A BOSE RADIO  cost the most WEight circles in their pro club  catalog. and i had alot of dogs...
i hear an arguement that purina spends so much on advertising that there is a higher quailty food from a company that does not advertise.. i really doubt it... because purina  is sooo huge in the animal feed business.. ttht if there was a better food to be made, purina would make it.. and charge a fortune for it.   purina food is not new to me... the mfg it themselves...
it is not mfg by diamond manufacturing... diamond makes so many of the other brands (including  costco's kirkland which we were feedign)
now --- the lawsuit story-- i subscribe to a service that alerts me to  any recall information.  it seems legit... i have not heard of any problems  with purina in years.  - the last real fiasco was the diamond mfg problem ---a recall there was huge- and i think it turned out to be caused by duct tape not being sanitized...
i  don't see the name diamond mfg any more... they are every bit as busy-- they just changed the name/labeling..  i look for it out of curiosity.

*********************
now for my problem of the day/night... you know i have  a significant problem with binary  decisions... right/left  up/down  clockwise/counterclockwise... etc.
i have 2 remotes to manage teh tv in my bedroom.--all i wanted to do was check teh cnn news - even tho i am sure they actually have reruns of news from years ago... i pushed the first digit 1 of  the 100 i was looking for. well the tv decided i had cut it's major means of support and  showed a close up of roofing shingles. with a pop up window that said "you screwed up".
my intelelectual capacity at 2 am is decidedly  impaired. but after 20 minutes of watching these roofing shingles sliding around the screen, i figured/ remembered that  something has to be on channel 3-- and i was  no longer there. with concentrated effort i finally got one of the remotes to get back on ch 3- at which time it showed just one channel-- and if i changed that channelk i got a notice "picture  function not available"   more diddling and i saw notices.. ipswich rabies clinic, turbo hocky, museam ambassators wanted, and the art and history of  making shoes..

i cursed my tech ability and went back to bed.. this morning it is like it never happened...
i do not understand the logic of all that
and i do not like not understanding.

so i move on to the goats milk bottle episode of our lives...

march 23 2015

i was going to start bottle feeding today - and i would have ... except since our storage area  got cleaned up and organized , i can't fingd a thing... we are the personification of
" you can not fix a leking roof in the rain , and when it is not raining, you don't  need to fix it."

i always like to teach the pups to drink out of a bottle before we have any emergency when they  would have to learn while they are hungry...  emergency is mastitis infection   where one area  is yellow milk and undrinkable--- yet needs to be drained in the healing process..

what this results in is hungry pups wanting to nurse-- fighting for room--  and you have one hand over the problem faucet trying to prevent them... let me tell you those noses are like a 500 pound pig with it's nose down...  massive pushing and shoving- til they fill up on other nipples and go to sleep-- then there is the problem of trying to milk aq dog.... people milk cows -- why not dogs???

let me tell you----no gadget yet works..... what you really need to empty those nipples is romulus and remus.... you know those twin boys raised by a wolf.  there are many statues in rome where they are sitting under this wolf with heads raised drinking  her milk.

consieder the  geometry-- we have big dogs, but no way coulod a child fit under there and have lunch.. so it must have been some kinda big dog !!!  they grew up big and strong on wolf's milk and went into the construction business of building walls.. one guy-- romulus-- decided remus wall was politically incorrect- so he killed him..
that  set the stage for the problems in trying to put together  some kind of government in that whole  mid east area.
and then our congress decided to help.
******
so back to milking dogs...and the geometry thereof... i thought the  concept of cuttin off the business end of a 60 cc syringe, inverting the plunger etc wol dwork... it certainly looks like it should ..    maybe if i had teh entire 8 faucets from which to choose i might be able to .. but so far, fighting off pups at the same time ...absolutely nothing.   i had more luck expressing the milk by hand and collecting it in a syringe as i did when trying to get the black pup  to  get the taste  so she woudl start nursing.
that milk comes out of 4 pinholes at a time.. one drop at a time.. i do not know how the pups gain what they do  4 drops at a time.. but they do.  until about 3  weeks when she jst can not keep up with it and we go to  the  "dancing in gruel"  stage of puppy rearing.
******

one pup is on all 4's today   and eyes are slender slits-- not sure they can see yet.. but we are coming along
************
so is yellow-- i can not say he is improving his courting abilities-- or aim... .. but he did manage a 25 minute tie before she fell asleep entirely.

i still don't know if the 63 days starts from the first tie????
i bet it is   "out there " somewhere.. for our research department.
***********
b
grace has her passport- i assume twan is all set for the big transfer... 4 pups fropm the netherlands to boston.
i still don't have the  accounting --  i did hear it would be 800 euros to get the paperwork  to get them out of the netherlands.
*******
our chicken brick wall is doing well..  and i have quick piks to add -----keep explaining it to the new people... i see new names every day-- welcome aboard !!

********
our biggest addition (since the explore news of their continued  support ) is that steve will come work another day so he will be here with megan.. one day a week- and then do the weekends.
************
it is going to be a tough 10 days without grace here...  i am told cp's will be around to help..

this whole operation is a working one... no way could we do this without everyone's help.  cp's  come here for a working vacation.. not to laze in the sun.. or snow...
********
now for teh great bottle hunt.... tracy??????

and so it goes

march  22 2015
i suppose it is a good thing it is still bitter winter weather outside- so i don't want to go out anyway..
i always get up with such ambitions.. today i declared ( individually- without and fore thought)
i would clean my room. and desk
then finish the tower of hope mailing -
finish to the point of theresa typing it on tuesday and mailing it then..

then clean up 2 more blogs for explore-- i want to send 2 thies week...
one relatively normal about service dogs -- bella
and one lighthearted SDP event .. sledding
then i can see which one they chose to run first...
i am trying to figure out  what i am to do...

and groom my poor horse-- when i was a kid, you did not blanket a horse
unless you were prepared to groom them every day-- because they do itch

janine put that blanket on when it was so cold.. and  i went out to groom him
but he does not come when called-- so i have to rethink that one and get him used to my feeding him.
************
there still is alot of very amusing things going on...

yellowed managed a 23.5 minute tie

we did not have alot of success with the microscope---   we had alot of problems

joyce and i decided  God was a woman
because if God planned the  process of dog reproduction  she has to have been a female/

we came to that conclusion as noel dragged 160 pound yellow around backwards
then crawled up on the couch for a snooze with him still attached.
he could not get all 4 feet on the floor...  i am sorry  steve-- it was pretty funny
consequently finally trying to fill the  "container" involved the sofa cushions .
i must admit  i was a failure.. too much going on... too many legs... all 8 of them

steve was in the corner groaning..  he did not see the amusement.
he was properly initiated due to  a  projectile which hit him about 10' from the rest of the action.
now he can appreciate what megan and i went thru with walter.

we will try again today-- but  i think i will have to go with "i have never had a normal cover fail
and never had an artificial insemination be successful"

yellow is a great looking dog also -- and i would like to see what he has for pups...  without the bently confusion

we need to have the  microscope working well..   i used to ba able to use it-- but i forgot that tooo.

**************
rumor has it that eiterh opal or mariah is in heat... not true-- someone cut their foot in the snow.
i am glad... i am not ready to consider more pups  until we are sure noel is  withpups...
this is where ultrasound might be  mandatory

****
2 "sharable observations"

in a mailing for  seniors there was one for what sounded like  a good hearing aide-- since the dogs ate one of my exspensive ones. i started to look it over. all sorts of printed materail -- free batteries.. code for deductions.. cost 90% less than some hearing devices... everything except what it cost in the first place...

and then on tv- i was looking for a new weather channel and ran into a 15 minute commercial for machetties with lovely green handles   sold as devices for   anti zombie attack.

and you laughed at bottling snow -- or puppy breath...
