just to clear up any confusion about who owns what dog ...maybe clear it
up
we currently have 26 pups on site.. these are not matching widgets-- no
two are alike-
to have their existence and training serve some meaningful purpose- they
need a job-- and they love to work-- we have 2 main purposes--
it is a bell shaped curve every time... there will be a couple superdogs
that we have to keep around to perpetuate the project-- then the bulk of them
trained for service dogs- and a few just don't make it-- usually for some
physical reason - most reciently--- patrick who's nose just trickles blood
about once a week and we ( including george) can not figure out why-
i just went thru the "probable destiny" with megan- and CAME UP WITH A
FEW THat might not be in the bulk of the project.
probable--- because the only thing i am absolutely sure of is
that - those decisions will change..
once we had given up on willow with HOD--- now george says there is no
reason we don't keep her in the project... she was once a crippled dog we
carried around on a towel to get her outside...-- now she is over 6 'fencing
without difficulty..
couple facts--
those 3 pups of noel and bently are super pups-- karla ( volunteer) is an
old akc type friend- and she agrees that those 3 are as good a pup as she has
ever seen. square strong..pleasant etc.. and even if we still have the
parents--- bentley and noel-- you can not count on ANYTHING.. - so
it behoves me to keep that bloodline available-- and making them into facility
dogs ( an advanced form of therapy dog) would work-- and i just put a veteran
with disabilities on that project..- many of these 100% disabled vets spend
their time going from doc to hospital to rehab to meetings etc-- and for them
to have a dog with them is a win win.. --- like charlie- with steve.. the
entire vet hosp knows charlie and does not even know steve's name... GOOD
DOG...

BASICALLY-- THEY HAVE ONE HANDLER AND THEN WORK THE CROWD-- IS THE WAY I WOULD
PUT IT. POLLY AND BAILEY FOR EXAMPLE. CHAOS AND EARLENE-- AND A FEW OFF
SITE ONES
i always feel that all my dogs are ultimately my responsibility
regardless of where they are.-- and ultimately the dogs decide who owns them-
chaos lives here but she is clearly earlene's dog and would not dream of obeying
me if earlene is around.- i also feel that all the dogs i produce should work --
somehow-- my danes --- being slightly odd ( and well behaved.) - not the usual
dog, wherever they go they draw attention--and there are a lot of people in drab
jobs that even having the 1 minute distraction of a dog serves a purpose. the
staff in some of these nursing homes and hospitals are in need of cheer as much
as the patients.. and it is such a simple thing to just walk thru.
then you have pi-- a smart-- slightly too smart pup who could
not be owned by the avg joe - swhe would have someont waltzing to her tune too
quicky-- and i was gong to keep her and breed her-- then bob came along--an very
experienced bloodhound trainer-- who's war injuries have started to give him
balance problems-- perfect -- he has her- and can cope with her brain and
estrus--
right now-- i would guess rassbery is going to be the same
problem-- she is sharp-- and i better start figuring out someplace for her- she
is sneaky and clever-- first to scan the wall , gt on the couch, find spilled
food. and land sleeping in someone's lap.. etc...
so do not hold me to any of these decisions-- animal husbandry is often
best guess.
my mind is clean- i change it often.

now about the bulk cardboard project-- there are 2 types
the people sending 1/2 inch in an envelope - those land on my desk and in
my back pockiet daily...
the people sending cartons of beautifully cut ones - those land on my golf
cart to be distibuted around the farm in the "mailboxes" which also hold the
grocery bags to keep the yard tidy. -- we have enough of those to last most
of the spring...

i had prepared a long discertation on filing-- and the problems of mis-
filing-
the paperwork kind where you lose things alphabetically-usually one
variable dominates-- the alphabet
but the laundry kind where if you file according to type or shape-
for those less observant- in a hurry
long underwear can get mis filed with the long sleeved turtlenecks
and in the shop there are soo many variables in the nuts and bolt
department
that any disruption by a foreign organizer can be devastating.
but then linda ( of cloud fame) told me people were confused about my
filing of dogs...
same kind of problem.. LOTS OF VARIABLES--
BUT IN THE CASE OF DOGS... THE ^%(*^() VARIABLES CAN CHANGE.
SO THE WORD OF TH E DAY IS CONFUSION-- ENJOY THE RIDE.

CRAWLING ALL OVER HIM..
THE RESULT? WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL EMAILS ASKING IF HE WAS MARRIED-- AND IF
SO ... WAS HE CONSIDERING DIVORCE?
BECAUSE THERE IS A SHORTAGE OF THAT TYPE MAN????????.
