I MUST SOLVE MY COMPUTER PROBLEM BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR-

THAT GIVES ME  17 HOURS...ROUGHLY.

THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO ARE CONFIRMED EXPERTS  WHO HAVE WORKED ON THS IS REMARKABLE...Starting with teh geek squad, computer doctor, sdp voulunteers, including my 2 daughtes..it defies description... except i will try...

#1 issue is it is too old --- several of teh experts have called teh operating system   "antique"

#2  and it shuts itself off every 22 seconds-- needing a password to continue...

as people have tried to update "things" i have lost one function after another...

i lost any movie viewing, editing and making long ago... tehn CALENDAR,  TEHN spreadsheet ...  tehn letterwriting- yesterday after someone fixed it, i lost  ability to do printing.-- with that i have nearly lost my mind--- because all teh staff scheduling is on my machine--  and if i can not print it,  i have to look at things on screen and REMEMBER IT. !!

MY SHORT TERM MEMORY WENT ---LONG BEFOR TEH COMPUTERS WEREE EVEN INVENTED.

I AM FAMILIAR WITH THE WORD "BACK UP" AND CAREFULLY KEEP a FEW FILES  ON THUMB DRIVES IN TEH GUEST HOUSE..( REMEMBER I HAVE LIVEED THRUA TOTAL HOUSE FIRE) . -.. I AM GOIJJN TO SPEND THE NEXT 17 HOURS  DROPPING ALL MY WORKABLE FILES ON THUMB DRIVES WITH HOPES OF A  WORKABLE COMPUTER WITHIN DAYS.

 GREY-- THE DOG, NOT THE COLOR OR THE GIN- he is   one of teh "martini " litter....  WAS PUT ON HOLD BECAUSE OF "ISSUES" WIOTH SMALL DOGS.-  I HAVE HAD HIM 3 DAYS NOW- AND AT LEAST DEFINED THE PROBLME AS I SEE IT... WANDA-- JAnine's jack russel loves to run our fences and tease teh danes-- unfortunately the dog most often next to the driveway on "honeymoon hill" has been grey--  so teh appearence of  wanda- or other small dogs started him shaking uncontrolably- 

now... one of our training philosophys  is... if a dog is scared or reacts to   air brakes, they you go to where you can hear so many air brakes that they "achieve boredom" - at which time you might be able to teach them som service dog  talents.  we let grey go - as charging at  small dogs can be a distincely bad thing- 

i have had him out and sat in 5 pet stores watching small dogs come and go-- and teh last store a dog came within 5 feet of him without any uncontrolable shaking... this is progress. 

now enter janine... in teh house with wanda... i sat on the couch- teh shaking was "frantic" -  both janine and i are pretty good at this stuff... so we slowly moved janine... with wanda on her lap to within 3 feet of "grey" - he jumped a few times but made no-- what i would call "aggerssive" moves.... mind yu he still coul dhave hurt her tgrying to be friendly  -- so as janine maneuvdred wanda's rump toward grey for a  butt sniff, grey changed his approach.. weanda was not thrilled- but with our great tallent, grey did get a good sniff before wanda bit  at janine...- after that.. janine was able to eat that  good chowder with wanda on the floor within 6 inches of grey,  sharing the chowder with wanda ( off the same spoon)   grey kept his attantion on the chowder, not  wanda.

during all this , he never once tightened the leash- and was very responsive to "leave it" 

 this is not the action of an impossibly agressive dog.;   mind you... an overly freindly great dane is about as dangerous as a nasty aggerssive one.

janine is due back this morning with wanda-- for "round 2"

It’s been a while since I sent an update. Clark and I were very busy this summer and fall! We travelled quite a bit, mostly for conferences for me, but we always manage to get some fun time in. In October, we were able to spend time with Allison and Zeppelin, and then with Cindy and Ava a few weeks later. It is very meaningful to have made good friends because of SDP and Clark. Just before the holidays I passed my comprehensive exams at school, so now am officially a PhD candidate. Clark is always patient while I am writing and still loves his job going to work and school with me every day.

HARDLY A DAY GOES BY THAT I DON'T WONDER IN SOME FASHION - WAY BACK  2500 YEARS BC-- BEFORE ANYONE KNEW TO PUT BC IN THIER WRITINGS....JUST WHO LIVED LONG ENOUGH TO OBSERVE WHICH DAY OF TEH YEAR WAS THE SHORTEST SO THEY COULD ARRAINGE THE PYRAMIDS IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION OF THE SUN SO THE BODY INSIDE WOULD HAVE FALLEN IN THE SHADE OF SOMETHING IF IT WASN'T INSIDE A PYRAMID????. I AM 80 YEARS INTO IT AND TEH SUN COMES UP AND SUN GOES DOWN, AND AS FAR AS I  GET IS TO RECITE "IN WINTER I GET UP AT NIGHT AND SUMMER I GO TO BED BY DAY" WHO DID ALL THOSE CALCULATIONS???AND WHY DID THEY NOTICE IT IN TH E FIRST PLACE-

I HAd many comments on horse racing from yesterdays dd- 

i have anotehr fact to share...  there was..."the racing form"  a newspaper totally devoted to the racing industry-- it gave  history of every horse entered in  all the races at the major tracks in the usa. with details---

like every race it was in ... where it   placed in teh bunch as they went aroundg the track- what the betting odds were... etc...

 but as i sat there-- time after time.. with nothing more than a great caesar salad to amuse me at suffock downs.. (. i am not a betting person) i started in... the paper also gave the age of the horse, and the  lifetime winnings of that horse..

 now i knew the cost of hay--- i had all these 4-h kids horses in my barn in lynnfield-- and  i bought 30 tons at a time ( which was a really huge truck load from canada) -  and i knew how much a horse ate per day...  20 pounds/day  was the conservative estimate. so a horse born april 10, 1975  and racing   may10 1979 was 4years+ 30 days and one day over for leap year= i think  1491 days old- conservatively lets say 1400 days eating hay ( nursing  early on...) 1400 days at 20 pounds per day = 28,000 pounds of hay  -- 14 tons   at $500/ton  must have eaten $7000 worth of hay or it would be dead.  just hay.... $7000. so i counted teh number of horses who had even earned teh cost of the hay they ate  TO BECOME THE AGE TEHY WERE.......10% paid they hay bill--- this did not include teh multitude of expenses connected with racing-- trainers , hot walkers, pony riders ( on quarterhorse to lead the thorobreds AROUND) , exercise riders, BLACKSMITHS,- VETERNARIANS- JUST THE HAY BILL...  THERE ARE USUALLY 10 RACES PER DAY PER TRACK... AND THE  NUMBER OF HORSES PER RACE IS ABOUT 10- THERE IS ONE "FEATURE RACE" PERDAY-- SUPPOSIDLY OF TEH "BETTER HORSES"  IT IS THAT GROUP OF 10 THAT SOMETIMES PAID  at least THE HAY BILL.

INVESTMENT WISE IT IS NOT WHAT YO WOULD CALL "GOLDEN" 

TRUE FACT--- ONE DAY I WAS EXERCISING OUR ONE HORSE AROUND SUFFOCK DOWNS-- I WAS RIDING MY QUARTERHORSE "HARVEY"  LEADING "XXXX I FORGET his name "  BUT A HORSE WHICH HAD BEEN PURCHASED FOR AN AWFFUL LOT OF MONEY---  WHEN I WALKED TEH HORSE BACK TOWARD TEH STABLE I HAD 2 OFFERS TO BUY MY QUARTERHORSE WHICH I HAD BOUGHT AT 40 CENTS A POUND- AND WE COULD NOT GIVE AWAY THIS  EXPENSIVE  RACE HORSE....

ANOTHER  "WHO CARES??"" USELES INFORMATION.... THE THOROBRED REGISTRY INSISTS THAT ALL PREGNANCIES BE ACHIEVED WITH "NATURAL COVERAGE"   NONE OF THIS ARTIFICAL INSEMINATION BUSINESS ....THIS IS HOW THE FAMOUS STUDS MAINTAIN THEIR EARNING POWER-  NOW I DID HEAR THAT THE FAMOUS SECRETARIAT HAD A SMALL PROBLEM IN THAT HE WAS NOT THRILLED WITH THE REPRODUCTION  PROJECT  OF CHOOSING A WIFE... MOST HORSES DON'T CARE....  I DON'T KNWO HOW THAT PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED-- BUT I KNOW THAT  IT HAD TO BE A "NATURAL COVER"  MAYBE IT IS DIFFERENT NOW... I DUNNO... I DO KNOW  A LOT OF STRANGE THINGS... THE TV UNDERGROUND-- THANKFULLY BECAUSE OF TV, I DON'T HAVE TO TRAVEL TO SEE THESE  BUT...ON THE SCIENCE CHANNEL  SHOWS  2 THAT BLEW MY  DOORS LAST NIGHT..

I NEVER KNEW...... ABOUT  DA VINCHI'S LAST SUPPER CARVED IN THE SALT MINES OF ?POLAND?ALONG WITH CHANDELIERS AND INNOVATIVE THINGS TO DEAL WITH METHANE GAS IN TH E 1400'S 

BUT.... NEARER AND DEARER TO MY HEART IS THE FOOD PRODUCTION NOW UTILIZING THE BOMBING SHELTERS OF LONDON VERY INTERESTING TOUR GIVEN BY A GUY IN WHAT LOOKED LIKE OPERATING ROOM SCRUBS( AND HAIRNET) WANDERING PAST TRAYS  LABELED "PARSLEY".. EXPLAINING  NOT ONLY WAS IT POSSIBLE, BUT IT ELIMINATED ALL THE TRUCKING NECESSARY TO GET THE STUFF ( NOT ONLY PARSLEY)  TO THE PEOPLE OF LONDON,  IT WAS GROWN ONLY ONE MILE FROM THE MARKETS- AND THAT WAS  ONE MILE  "UP" THE ELEVATORS./ ALL KINDS OF LETUCE, SPROUTS, AND LITTLE THINGS... WHY?   LET ME TRY----- RACE HORSES ALL GET ONE  YEAR OLDER STATISTICALLY ON JAN FIRST.-  I DON'T LIKE RACING HORSES... GAMBLERS WILL BET ON ANYTHING - WHY NOIT RACE COCKROACHES?- WELL ANYWAY- MY HUSBAND WAS A "TRACKER"  AND HE THOUGHT THE ULTIMATE JOY WAS TO OWN A RACE HORSE- SO HE BOUGHT A THOROBRED  FEMALE ONE "BEING RETIRED" ( TOO SLOW)  THIS WAS LONG BEFORE JANINE FOUND OUT YOU CAN EASILY OWN HUNDREDS OF THOROBRED RACE HORSES BY OUTBIDDING THE MEAT PACKERS.   ( THOROBREDS ARE THE "BREED" -- NOT  THE RESULT OF GUARENTEED PEDIGREES.) 

HE BOUTGHT A  BAY MARE WITH INTENTION OF BREEDING HER TO ANOTHER "RETIRED RACE HORSE" I.E.... SLOW... THAT A FRIEND OWNED...

NOW TEH GESTATION OF HORSES IS ABOUT 11 MONTHS  SO IF YOU CAN MANAGE TO GET A MARE PREGANANT IN  LATE JAN UARY OR FEB  YOU WIL  BE RACING A  "COLT" WHICH WILL BE 6 MONTHS OLDER THAN  THE ONE IN TH RACE BORN IN JUNE.. MOMMY NATURE HAD IT ALL PLANNED SO THAT FOALS SHOULD BE BORN WHEN THE PRARIES WERE FULL OF GRASS AND LIVING IS EASIER... AND TEH WAY THAT IS ORGANIZED... IS THAT A BELLY FULL OF NICE GREEN GRASS WITLL TRIGGER THE HEAT CYCLE OF THE MARE-- HOPING THAT IT WILL TAKE A WILD STALLION A MONTH TO INVITE HER TO DINNER SO TEH FOALS CAN BE BORN TEH CORRECT SEASON.. THIS MAY BE AN OLD WIVES TALE... BUT MOMMY NATURE IS KNOWN FOR A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF CORRECT TALES.  ALL IS ORGANIZED.....

EXCEPT WHEN YOU WANT TO RACE THOROBREDS.  THE BIG FARMS WITH ALL KINDS OF MONEY  AND ARE LOACTED FURTHER SOUTH THAN I WAS  IN MASSACHUSETTS  HIRE VETS WITH NEEDLES AND HORMONES ETC.  

I HAD TO TRY WITH GRASS...

SO I GOT AN OLD REFRIGERATOR- I FIGURED INSULATED WALLS-- AND  STARTED IN  WITH 

A 100 WATT LIGHT BULBS-- SOME SEED AND WATER-- IT ONLY TOOK 2 WEEKS FOR THAT SEED TO SPROUT TINY LITTLE "SEEDLINGS"  ABOUT 1 INCH TALL--  IT WAS TEH THIRD WEEK THAT THE WHOLE OPERATION BEGAN TO STINK- SO I ADDED A FEW DROPS OF CHOLORX TO THE EWATER WITH HOPES- ----BEFOLRE LONG I WAS ADDING CUPS OF BLEACH TO THREADS OF GRASS THAT WERE AT LEAST 2 INCHES LONG.   EVEN MY CHILDREN WERE COMPLAINING.  I HAD TO GIVE UP.   IT WAS BAD...  

TEH ONLY PEOPLE WHO SAW TEH GREAT POTENTIAL OF INDOOR GROWING WERE THE COLLEGE CROWD  TRYING TO  GROW "POT" 

ACTUALLY THAT STORY CONTINUES --- MY OLDEST---GWEN-- AND HUSBAND RON  EVENTUALLY BOUGHT A HOUSE WHICH WAS ON TEH MARKET CHEAP AND FAST BECAUSE THE OEWNER NEEDED LAWYER FUNDS- HELICOPTERS WITH HEAT SEEKING EQUIPMENT HAD APPARENTLY FOUND OUT THE OWNER WAS SELLING NOT ONLY LOBSTERS ... CLEVER RON-- WHO HELPED BUILD OUR GUEST HOUSE- MADE SOME RENOVATIONS AND IT WAS A LOVELY RESIDENCE... WITH AN GREEN HOUSE IN THE CELLAR.

FAST FORWARD TO SDP BUYING THE SHIPPING CONTAINER TO STORE PURINA DOG FOOD-- AND AGAIN TEH INDOOR GROWING  OF GREEN STUFF CROSSED MY MINDE--- WHIN I WAS TOLD.. IT IS ALMOST PROFITABLE TO GROW BOSTON'S LETUCE THAT WAY-- AND TEHRE WERE SOME  PEOPLE  "ON" THAT PROJECT.

TEH EVIDENCE OF THOUSANDS OF TRAYS OF PARSLEY IN THE UNDERGOUND IN LONDON MEANS SOMEONE HAS FIGURED HOW TO DO IT.

ONE OTHER LETUCE RUMOR-- THERE IS A TRAIN FROM CALIFORNIA "DAILY" CARRYING LETUCE TOTHE EAST COAST.

OH... I GOTTO REPEAT THIS ONE--- THERE  EXISTS A VERY BRIGHT  "DEAN"  TYOE FRIEND WITH WHOM I HAVE HAD DISCUSSIONS AOBUT ONE OF THE PROBLEMS OF TEH WORLD IS THAT MUCH OF OUR FOOD IS PRODUCED WEST OF THE ROCKIES I.E.. THE PACIFIC OCEAN AREA AND CHEWED AND  DUMPED   IN THE ATLANTIC.

AND YOU THOUGHT IT WAS CLIMATE CHANGE.

Dear Carlene,

I have only been watching since the Disney Pups were born, but I have rarely missed a day in that time.  I know that you get plenty of email with complaints about every possible thing.  

I was watching earlier when intervention was necessary in the kitchen.  You handled it quickly and affectively and professionally.  Thank you.

I’m sure we CP’s are a distraction at times, and a pain in the butt at others, but the cameras and the pups do provide such joy to so many.  I sense from reading the comments, and the mail at mail  call that by in large the viewers are a decidedly “senior” group.  Many are disabled or of limited mobility themselves, suffering from loneliness, boredom, and that special crankiness that seems can only be really perfected with age.  Indeed, I expect I will get myself banned from chat one of these days when someone mouths off a little too vociferously.  

So, know that I and I expect most all of us, appreciate  the opportunity to share in it, more than words can say.

the CP's have come a loooooonnnnngggg way frfom  calling me at 2am to complain about the birds in the barn

but i still could  start a file of obtuse comments.

many  cp's are a huge help-- like watching my slowcooker to let me know the instant it is not on the corner of the counter.  i have lost 5 slow cookers over the past 5 years.

we are doing well.....there are soooo many sane camera  people out there who can  manage teh "shall we call her" department at 2am....

i did have a complaint about my handling of the aggressive pup... but that is exactly what the mom's wouold do if they were here-- that is where i learned it... very impoirtant is thegrab teh skin on the neck and push it to the floor   and release ---  surprise snap and quick release before the pup knows who did it. then have teh "who me??? attitude to complete the exercise.

teh quick snap looked like i was beating the pup- when i was just delivering a surprise- heck these pups knock each other over  far worse...  the trick in the whole thing is to have the pup concentrate on what happened just before he got flattened...

 this is a huge training piece of information...FYI... in my opinion.... ....

dogs operate on an understanding that  "B"  was caused by "A"--  they do not deal with C=D=E events....

i think theri mind goes like this... 

"i was enjoying biting my sister and something  knocked me over... i looked around after and i could not see why i got flattened,, so i just better avoid that biting activity again."

this is exactly why you must never hold them down and verbally give them a lecture "i told you not ot do that "  it is totally wasted and makes teh dog  thnink that  " biting the sister was fun... no problen there ---  but then i fell down and this person held me down    ...  the "A" and "B" get shifted one step away from the behavior you are trying to correct  as you become the villian "B" 

in teh basic training of  dogs you want to stick to the "A" causes "B"  and don't complicate matters..as they learn to communicate with you, you might be able to get to  "C" or "D"  but to start it is teh basic "A" to "B"

"i bark at the postman and he goes away"  - is anotehr of my  favorite  A causes B demonstrations.

 the yuppy puppy  gumball machine is teh best example--" if  i push teh lever --  my treats fall into the noisy dish" 

( now----- do you want to think about las vegas and the lever pulling people who are  stimulated by the quarters falling in the metal tray????---- 

i never approved of standing a kid in the corner- i think "time out" is abusive to a kid.  because as punishment  it  gets too far away from the "A" which caused the problem.  further more if i stood my kid in the corner, i would probably forget where i left them...

 while i am at it....  i have never had any success using my muscles to teach a dog anything.... if i need t to teach a dog to roll over- i have had zero success rolling the dog  over  onto his back and around..myself--  or picking up a foot to push teh handle on the yuppy-- teh "A" is pick up the foot   the "B" becomes "i don't like her picking up myu foot"   and the dog's mind nevr gets to the fact that we pushed a lever...

I just have to comment on your Dane story. I have a Dane. She is fabulous! With zero training on how to be a service dog she has turned herself into quite a great service dog. My husband had a leg amputation one year ago. From the day he came home from the hospital our Girl Mocha has been by his side. She will put herself in his way if it appears he is going to fall. She walks beside him close but not so close he will fall. She listens without hesitation to anything her Dad says and acts accordingly. Mocha is going to be 7 in April and we worry she is getting old but she has lots of love and lots of protective instinct to take care of her Dad. When they walk she does not need a leash, even if another dog or other animal is nearby she will not leave her Humans side. 

I have to tell you that I did not train her to do these things but I learned from reading your stories just what a Dane is capable of. If they are loved they are capable of anything! I appreciate all of your stories and the constant education you provide all of us out here in Cyber world. I only live in Haverhill so not far from you. Some one of these days I hope to visit your farm. Big poop doesn’t scare me! LOL

the expression....."you will think this is funny years from now" means that at my age-- there is alot of  hysterical historical humor...i get requests to go "speak" - it is fun- rotary, lions club. church groups or whatever...so i rattle on for 20 minutes about service dogs  tell a few funny stories then answer questions... the ones that are really fun are the few times someone has called in a panic because they have a group meeting antd their speaker cancels at the last minute- the expectations of a substitute are not great- so with maybe 3 topics written on the back of my hand as starter points, just in case i draW TEH SENIOR BLANK MOMENT- I CAN  "THAT REMINDS ME OF..." AND GET RATTLING AGAIN....

HOMELESS --- GETS ME GOING ON 2 STORIES....FOR A FEW YEARS WE- AS  "ANIMAL EPISODES"  TOOK A COLLECTION OF ANIMALS TO BE SANTAS "FARM IN HAVERHILL  -- FRIDAY-- SAT-- SUNDAY   6 TO 9- REGARDLESS OF TEH WEATHER.- I HIRED KIDS- AND OCASSIONALLY A  BRAVE PARENT WOULD GO WITH ME... I OWNED 5  EXTRA LARGE SKI MOBILE SUITS FOR WHOEVER WENT-

FRIEND "DIDA"  AND I WERE HUDDLED IN A HAY PILE ONE MISERABLE  DARK RAINY NIGHT-- THINKING "WHAT'S MERRY?"  AND A POLICEMAN HOPPED OVER OUR BARRIER OF HAY BALES- AND TOLD US WE'D HAVE TO LEAVE BUT HE WOULD BE HAPPY TO TAKE US TO THE TOWN' S  HOMELESS  SHELTER.....  THAT ONE INCIDENT GAVE ME A PERSPECTIVE ON HOMELESS.. AND POLICE..

THE OTHER HOMELESS STORY IS.... FOR SOME MOVIE ( I DUNNO WHICH)  THERE WAS A CALL FOR A HOMELESS PERSON'S DOG AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION OF BOSTON-  WITH THAT TRAFFIC I COULD NOT TAKE ANY SMALL DOG I KNEW OF WHO COULD HOVER LOOSE AROUND A SLEEPING HOMELESS PERSON-- AND TEHN I FOUND A HOMELESS PERSON WITH A DOG -   THAT DOG -- BY AKC AND ADI  STANDARDS HAD PERFECT BEHAVIOR-  WHICH AS I GOT INTO SERVICE DOGS I EALIZED  ONE OF THE REASONS WAS IT WAS WITH IT'S OWNER 24 HOURS A DAY, AND TOTALLY UNDERSTOOD THE LIFE IT WAS LEADING...  THE CHAOS OF TRAFFIC AND FILM MAKING WAS  NOT A BIG DEAL-- IT KNEW IT WAS TO STAY CLOSE TO IT'S OWNER- WHO WAS JUST OFF CAMERA... WORKED BEAUTIFULLY.

THAT IS IT FOR HOMELESS STORIESW...

SO "ZENA" WAS HERE YESTEERDAY-- BEAUTIFUL DOG-- WONDERFUL JOB... LONG STORY...

I HAVE TREID TO GET OTHER ADI MEMBERS TO CONSIDER USING GREAT DANES AS SERVICE DOGS.... THEY DO SUCH A WONDERFUL JOB.... I GAVE A PUPPY TO AN ADI MEMBER WHO RAN A TRAINING FACILITY IN FLORIDA... A FEMALE- WITH THE HOPES THAT THE MIGHT BREED HER  ONCE AND THEN MAKE A SERVBICE DOG OF HER.-  SHE PARKED HER WITH A TRAINER- AND ZENA GREW--- AS ONLY DANES CAN.... I TRIED TO SUGGEST HOW TO START TRAINING... BUT THEY WERE REALLY ONL INTERESTED IN GOLDENS-- AND ZENA GREW.... AT ONE POINT THEY TOOK HER TO THEIR VET-  WHO SAID IT WAS A TERRRIBLE IDEA BECAUSE ALL DANES HAD HIP TROUBLE- AND SHE HAD  A HEART MURMER- IN AN EFFORT TO HAVE AN EXCUSE NOT TO DEAL-- ZENA BECAME A PET.  THEN..... THERE WAS A DOG FIGHT - WHERE A SMALLER DOG WAS BITTEN - NEEDING STITCHES... AND IT WAS DETERMINED ZENA WAS TEH BAD DOG-  IT IS A FACT THAT  IN A DOG FIGHE THE BIGGEST DOG WILL BE BLAMED-- WHICH WAS ZENA-- TEHY SAID SHE WAS "UNCONTROLABLE"  THEY WERE AFRAID OF HER-- WE SENT MEGAN DOWN TO GET HER-  GOT HER HERE-- ZENA SEEMED FINE-- PERFECT BEHAVIOR AS FAR AS WE COULD SEE-- WE TESTED HER  FOR "AGGRESSION"  ETC.. NOTHING... SO WE GAVE HER TO A PERSON IN ? VERMONT? WHO WORKS IN A COURTHOUSE- SHE REPORTS THAT ZENA IS THE PERFECT DOG FOR WORKING THE COURT-- SHE  HAS PERFECT INSTINCTS FOR SEEKING OUT FRIGHTENED  CHILDREN, ABUSED WOMEN AND VETS WITH PTSD-- HAS NOT MADE A WRONG STEP-- JUDGES OFTEN COME AND SIT WITH ZENA ON OFF TIME- PERFECT DOG.  ALSO ABSOLUTELY NO SIGN OF HIP DISPLASYA- AND ZENA IS NOW 6 YEARS OLD... BEAUTIFUL DOG ON ALL SCORES.

THIS IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH DANES... ALONG WITH INCORRECT MEDICAL EVALUATION.....THEY ARE BIG AND PEOPLE ASSUME THEY WILL MISBEHAVE LIKE THE  SMALL DOGS OFTEN DO.... AND IF THEY  DO BEHAVE LIKE A SMALL DOG, THEY WOULD BE A DISASTER ON SIZE ALONE-- A 150 POUND FLYING OBJECT IS NO JOKE.

WE HAVE A PUBLIC PERCEPTION  TO DEAL WITH --

where on earth has haley's sister been??????? 

 she gave judy a pen and ink of wilbur's head that is as good as teh colored artwork in janine's new book   which i have forgotten the name of... except the art work is outstanding. got to find out more about haleys sister...

going back to my mike rowe fascintation'-- which is closely affiliated with ken robertson.s  TED  lecture on creativity( which you all should listen to ) ken's theme is that the education system in the us is geared to producing university professors- at the expense of teh more creative---and  sometimes practical...

 Parts of robertson's  20 minute lecture are easy to remember-- like the creativity of teh  little  3 kids in the nativity scene-- "i bring you gold".... "i bring you myrrh".. "frank sent me " 

there ae soooo many kids... it is difficult to critize teh e educational system ( WELL THAT'S WRONG-- I AM GOOD AT IT) -- BUT.... i have often  found a person with  great potential. stuck in a job of pumping gas-- abuot as opften as i have found a university  professor who is as intelectually as flat as a pancake. 

object being-- try and find a paying job in the field of some of  the  obscurly  talented kids who are stuck  in the mainstream of trying to make car payments.

not all yogurt  drink cantainers can be chess pieces-- some are super sugar dispensers. 

 

i never cease to be shocked at what people are paid to do----

fact - apparently in britain there is a toilet manufacturing company that is studying  ... if you change tehe angle of teh toilet seat by 13% people woulld spend 25% less time there- which would benefit corporate productivity. 

then there is the bunch   sifting sands in teh middle of some desert searching for broken bits of pottery. i hate to think of what people could dig up on this property 1000 years from nowl

then the huge question of polititians--  what do they do if they don't get elected or re elected.... some of the very bright will write books and have speaking engagements... ok that is 4% of them-- what do the rest of the 96%

do?   as life goes on --one hears of one or two -- but the rest get swallowed up and disappear.how do they pay the bills.? 

so -- if any of you know of any kind of artistic job for someone  pretty good at pen and ink,,  let haley know.

the otehr angle  is..... somehow we need to be more  cognizant ot the person stuck in some educational system in which they have absolutley no talent or interest.

i will spare you the pain of my  high school experience trying to spell everything correctly for a hystory paper on "52 40  or fight." -  that hardly ever comes up in polite conversation-- i would have done much better in a course of creative welding.

teh days between christmas and new years are "the lost days"  every year 

 these are my UNTIL... days... 

  i will just  use my wa;lking stick to prop open teh garage door until i  move teh 2 x 4 from my bedroom where it is  being used to hold a door open until i fix teh hinge    -- for which i will need my tool box which is  on teh porch until i find a place to recharge my drill for which i will need the short extension cord which someone borrowed to plug in the tractor' block until.........  the "strings of until" aroujnd here are endless..

i try never to voice an opinion obaout politics, or religion, but i have to here... 

thank God for the jewish folk who seem to resist the marketing influnece

 of the  advertising agencies.  i have been hearing christmas this 

and christmas  that since halloween.. -

 all right   so i am bad...

 so who started this dead tree episode?? .... all set with electric wires.

rush out-- quickly--- get on the road with all the other drivers and go somewhere and buy something.

i have been thinking... since 4am......

so what do***** I ****need????--- ***I*** as in me first.....  i need someone to help me orgainze what i already own...

for openers.........teh milk cans.

in teh process of buying  "things" once deductable because i would at least say i would use them in the commercial buisiness.. 

[you know that business i so quickly  throw under teh nearest bus....]---    i own 3 milk cans-- you know teh 24 inch tall milk carriers no longer used- probably because of sterility issues..  they make "perfect   perching places" -   technically, since the kone elevator electruction, both bentley and i have had a problem with stamina...- i can walk  a dead line of 30 or 40 feet, but tehn i have to perch on something...  those milk cans as  properly placed  perching places would mean i could go down to and into  the  75 foot long  barn much more often... i am sure that woudl thrill our  barn managers haley and shana-- but i wolod like to see what exactly is going on.  it might be helpful... maybe...

i don't even know where tehy  -- the cans-- are-- 2 of tehm-- teh stainless steel one ( my favorite) is in teh donkey viewing area-- and teh black one  too... but the blue top shorter one is gone.. it also had ice in it at some point so the bottom  is rounded making it useable but unstable for use in  the stable/

that rounded bottom needs some serious pounding to become a useful member of  this farm... i will not get into the rearing of children here-- tho the connection is direct...

and then thetre is my scotish walking stick  which would be much easier to carry in the car than the transferr chair which is also there...

the chair is in  my car.. held in place with hay string until i get around to making a piece of rope/ a ring  --  teh correct legnth to be more useful.. 

there is that-- until-- word again...so i have made a brave attempt--

i have a collection of warshed  small stonyfield  yogurt drink containers being saved to make a chess set until i get enough of teh correct variety-- 

now some overnighters   who are kind enough to make me a cuppa in th morning are sometimes stingy with the sugar-- so this morning.... i got one of thsoe small plastic  jars and drilled a hole in the top with my drill.... i  am now teh very proud owner of a sugar dispenser of my very opwn on  my desk.

just goes to prove this jug may never become a pawn  in with a group of other like pieces of a chess set, but it still has a very useful and cherished position as my sugar dispenser.

that is only the start--- i have  6 more  days to make significant changes and improve the  "untils"

Hi, Carlene.  Just wanted to let you know, since you are spreading the word to veteran (potential) recipients about insurance coverage and travel:  The travel must be pre-approved by the beneficiary travel department.  In order to get the insurance, the veteran must be service-connected disabled, and they must go through prosthetics to apply.  Just wanted to spread more info to help you help others.

ADAM LET HIS "CHArge" come into the house without him,--  nice kid-- slightly confused... now if tha kid had decided to WALK  4  feet from the door to pat sleeping chaos- chaos could have bitten him - and everyone would decide it was chaos fault and a dane is a bad dog and our insurance would go up....-- where the fault was adam  who was not watching the person he was hired to watch.  adam did not see that way of thinking.... and still does not see it.

THANKFULLY SCOTT WROTE A DD FOR ME TODAY

Hello everyone 

As we all know when I was paired with Dash , Carlene and I had a heart to heart and in words that only Carlene could use she told me “ who am I to question my dog with her choosing you Scott, so take her and do good things with her, pay it forward “ 

So after a few years of paying it forward with Dash at my side in speaking to veterans , first responders , law enforcement, high schools , colleges and pretty much anyone who would benefit and listen to my presentations, I figured it was time to take it to the next level in my paying it forward ( after all when Carlene said pay it forward she never told me when to stop ) 

So here we are ......

I ( we ) are in the initial phases of creating a non profit organization which would enable us to broaden our spectrum of those who would benefit from our message . Benefit in the fact that they can take their mess and make it their message.

. In all of my travels and speaking to thousands there’s always been one common theme with those wanting help . And that’s the cost of traveling . There are so many amazing organizations out there that so many people would benefit from but many can’t afford the cost of traveling to them via airfare, ground cost and or lodging . That’s where we are stepping in . 

Our organization will sponsor travel costs to those who need to get to all these amazing accredited organizations such as but not limited to , The Service Dog Project  , Homeward Bound Adirondacks , The Brattleboro Retreats Uniformed Services Program and oh so many more all over the United States. 

Again we are still in the developmental phase of this but we have focus , we have a large vision in helping others , and we have so many amazing people helping us in getting this done .

As of right now the name will be   Knot Today 

After all , it got me to where I am today because it was not today for me with my lack of Knot Tying skills . 

Please stay tuned for further updates in our mission . This is something that will forever serve those who served us .

wellllllllllll  in our case if yOu can get yourself to boston's logan airport and gEt on the shuttle for peabody, SDP can manage the  next 4 days here no charge...--- we will meet the shuttle AND PLANT YOU SOMEWHERE ON TEH PROPERTY... BE IT GUEST HOUSE-- OR  SOFAS IN THE "TRAINING ROOM"  ( ACTUALLY OUR TIPI IS DOWN)  YOU CAN EAT WHAT WE HAVE AROUND TO EAT-- WE HAVE NOT STARVED YET-- EV EN IF IT IS ALL CHRISTMAS  FUDGE AND COOKIES AT THE MOMENT. ONLY REQUIREMENT IS  YOU MUST BE UP AND MAKING COFFEE AT THE OFFICE AT 7AM... THEN HELP WITH CHORES TIL 4PM FEEDING IS OVER....AND ABIDE BY TEH BOY SCOUTS CODE OF "CLEAN , BRAVE, AND REVERANT???" ALONG WITH "BE PREPARED"  AND A FEW OTHERS.

I DON'T KNOW HOW TEH  BRATTLEBORO RETREAT UNIFORMED SERVICES PROGRAM DEALS WITH  THAT--  getting there is 1/2 the battle  MAKES IT TOUGH--- especially when the PTDS is another 1/2 the battle...

I KNOW TEH VA HAS ADDRESSED IT...  SEEMS BACKWARDS. TO ME....  I AM TOLD BY THEM AS HAVE READ TEH RULES... IF WE ARE ACCREDITED BY ADI ( WHICH WE ARE)  TEHN THRU TEH VA,... THE VETERANS  WILL HAVE VETERNARIAN COVERAGE FOR THIER  SERVICE DOG AND THYE WILL PAY  FOR TRAVEL TO ABD FROM SDP FOIR TRAINING PURPOSE.-- BUT THt is after we have donated a dog to them....  so there is a gap  ...HOW DO YOU START????  which maybe  scott will be able to address.. i have heard great things abotu the brattleblro  retreat-- and there are alot of people who woul d benifit from being  tehre.

HOWEVER... CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN WHY THERE IS TO BE A SHOW ON "MAKING EXPLOSIVES"  ON THE SCIENCE CHANNEL???  WHERE 2 GUYS SHOW  ONE EXPLOSION AFTER ANOTHER  -- FIREBALLS 30 FEET HIGH  LAUGHING HYSTERICALLY...  SOMEHOW..  I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT  THEY LEAVE OUT A FEW DETAILS THAT WOULD MAKE THE EXPLOSION GO OFF  A MINUTE TOO SOON..
