i hope mr putin has not been pronounced with cancer  and has decided to go out with a bang.

second thought ofr the day... bianca  is here with a tummy full and  we will start taking temp... looking for teh 2 degree drop 24 ours before labor....

when we keep at it, it sems to be true-- but you should take temo every few hours so you don/t miss it

  currently it is 98.9. try again in 4 hours,,,,

 

gwen goes home to n.c. this morning... had trouble getting uber.... for some reason the4y  were not picking up in this area in the snow.,... she is leaving sdp in much better shape than she found it....i am sitting in front of a. pink charger taped with yellow dust tapee and print   “cell phone charger”.   In case I forget... also ppink. So everyone will know it is ...... not theirs.

Remembers me of,,,,, make that reminds me of a heavy duty contractor in Houston Texas who painted all his heavy duty equipment I think it was pink so that even if they someone stole it and painted it you could chip away and if it was painted pink it was his...   we do pretty well around here as far as people taking things but it does happen sometimes perfectly logically because we have more of one thing than we need Gwen found that we were minus one of the plug-in towers she expected to find guesthouse...   when we get overloaded with any one particular item I do put it by the front door show that volunteers and staff can take anything there that they might need..   and if we get an incredible amount we could move it on to some charity or another.

 

I honestly think we are getting down to one or two rats which we can identify... I hope everyone realizes I threw the last one out by hand... in the midst of that snowstorm hopefully some owl had lunch.. now the two we have left are I think the more intelligent ones and I do have inbox setup..  it came in the mail the first time I saw it in the front door it did have a hole in the bottom and it had one of the boxes of  cookies totally empty....   reminding me of the four ridx boxes which were totally empty... so I have the box set up pretty close to the cash register which you all can see  on camera...  and it does have one of the victor snap traps loaded inside along with a few cookies and there it sits.  ... the same setup last night with a few cookies sprinkled around inside the empty carton and the mouse the rat I think it's a rat or mouse came in and ate the cookies that were spread around and left and didn't get snapped so we just try again..

  the official.  rat exterminator.  i I think it's coming to meet with Lin. today I think since he was last here we've caught two including the one I threw out the door. And we have not found any in the traps we know about.. but the overnight people report  many many fewer rodents then there were two months ago.  two months ago would be about January 1st which is when I had to order another two dozen traps.

 

oh how on earth did it get to be 830... Uber coming at 9 and I'm rushing

that huge bureau of mine is out the door on it's way to the street... just too big i need more dog beds...larkey and jiminey????

and along those same lines... i think larkey would have a better life as a neutered male --  he  would be a good nursing home dog great temp.. but  he limits the companions. i can take with him in th e.  car.

I think I have learned that too much Key Lime Pie will keep you awake at night it certainly was very good but between that and the cannoli cake that was here I think maybe I learned a lesson----- maybe not.

 Gwen has gone through my room.  like like green corn goes through the new maid ----now there's an old expression..but the room is different ...maybe I can get one more dog bed there now...

 

If if there are enough people here today I would have two goals I think we might even be able to give the puppies a ride around the block in my car if I can bring it up here behind the house... and the other thing I that may not happen but we're gonna try.  ke to do is that very low small feeder that mind you is 8 feet long we could just set that in front of the sofa. and feed them and have them stand on that thing for a couple hours I would like to just for practice..

what I'm toy with is the Budweiser people get their draft horses to run forward and all of a sudden stop short at staying there if you look very closely they're all standing on a board so they've been trained the running staying on a board and I'm wondering if I could do the same thing with these puppies is this not it's cold outside I don't wanna go outside Tuesday is gonna be even worse so having the feeder in here if we t some of the other stuff out of here wouldnt that be totally bad plus Imight  fun to play with.

 

According to the weather we have one more brutally cold day Tuesday and then just maybe .......

 

It has been suggested I include the link to the news article... Which I may do tomorrow I just wanna be sure that if they are counting how many people read it I want to be sure that you all get counted so that they like me better..... they seem to like me well enough but when people start counting things like that it's always nice to make sure you do as well as you can. I think this next article that I just turned in is about the fact that we are trying to make good citizens out of our dogs out of our puppies it's sort of get control of them while at the same time there's 50% of the dog which is the internal dog which we really have to figure out get control level also because right at the moment two of them at a time had massive diarrhea seems to last 24 hours and goes away I don't know why.. I wonder if it has to do with putting them outside on dirt and having them pick up gerardia which is so common in New England and need some flagyl. to eliminate it..  Whatever.

 

I said I was gonna write that article on what was happening weekly.  with the puppies so worming is certainly part of it... roundworm that is which means I should be reminding CC and the one puppy that went home also should be wormed regularly why mothers and puppies always get roundworms I  don't know but mothers need worming too------- which why don't all other female dogs in the on the property pick up roundworms.... what is there about being pregnant that means they're going to have roundworms that's one for George I guess..

 

Bentley is due for a vet visit this week to see what's the matter with the front paw it doesn't seem to be getting better on its own

Wow I just had a quick look at the chicken bricks and everybody who bought it in yesterday to try and get us sold out early I'll thank you ---actually I thank everybody---I it is those  stupid chicken bricks or what keep us going... along with Charlie and a few others.  Gwen went over the legal charge and screwed my head on.  in his in a slightly different direction which was a very large help... maybe..  whole thing apparently is not in March it's now in may which takes off some pressure of trying to put so many facts into graphs that normal people can more easily understand.

The best one for all of you to understand is with this next bunch of puppies due next week the number of puppies on property is going to go up up..  There is a two year lag in our fact versus result.. and the puppys being delivered next week will result of planning two years ago... With Sir Richard as the father I have been trying for years to get some of the bloodlines from Claudia Bohemia Kennell.  in the Czech Republic and now we have two litters by Sir Richard his first letter is spectacular and I have great hopes for the next one -----So hopefully at least that is on the upward upward upward what trend?  ... remember my goal was to breed female every time one had puppies which would give us 6 litters a year and at six puppies average per litter that'll be 36 which is a manageable bunch now it's about Bianca the mother do the end of the week I didn't know that Lynn had her X rayed and that she's carrying upwards of 11 puppies so this could be very exciting..   but be prepared because 11 puppies are a lot inside there and we may end up with a stillborn or two   so please all of you experience people know that using a cell phone with a pregnant dog does not affect the stillbirths---- we've been that road ---

 

The other thing for which we all need preparation is   how to. Train pups to stop chewing on each other...... I need to get you all in line because this looks bad but this is how the mothers do it that's where I learned it ... The last thing I need is for someone to decide it's cruel and unusual punishment but it's what the mother dogs do I've watched 1000 times when two puppies get into a fight where one begins to shake the other one by the neck and the one getting shook yelps,  the mother simply grabs the top one the grabber by the deck and puts it down on the ground and immediately let's go very quickly the whole thing doesn't take two seconds and the puppy that just got knocked down well then sit up look around and say hi everybody and be very pleasant it's the damnedest thing but it does work it does not help to push them away from each other you gotta figure out which one is the aggressor and justice taken by the back of the neck scruff of the neck and put that scruff of the neck down on the floor and let go.. so I just showed somebody how to do that yesterday it worked beautifully they couldn't believe it and I have to refresh everybody's memory because these puppies are beginning to get a little rough and need to be straightened out but we can't be afraid to straighten them out for what the camera people are going to say because that's gonna make for poorly behaved puppies this is what I've done for years it's not abusive and the dogs don't mind it at all they sort of sit up ,  and walk off with all aggression gone...   You certainly cannot do this will they get to weigh 100 pounds so you better do it now while you can still get the upper hand ....this is a nice litter. and I'm just explaining to  them what is unacceptable behavior... so everybody get ready and please don't call the SPCA they already have come out last time here they noticed that all the dogs followed me around so therefore I must be alright .. thank heavens .that's actually what they said..  they took the dogs word over whoever reported that mess.

 

I will write up the whole thing in the Ipswich local town news or whatever it's called I suppose I should know... when you try and find it by Googling you're gonna run into England and Australia also have an Ipswich Town something.. so eventually you'll find it the one I'm preparing to give him tomorrow what's today oh Lord it's today OK so the one I'm preparing to give him today is on worming and things in delicate I better hurry

i feel we are hopefully.  coming out of a long ordeal.  2018 to 2022  . and i am sorry if some of you are having difficulties-- but we have a court case coming of the problem with the  neighbors... on one side and the  rat problem on the other.... and you know..... i am tired.  i have easily had 4 nights of very little sleep......   between what  i can not say, must not say, can not hear,,,,,,,, i can get very frustrated. i thank those of you who have seen me deteriorate and try and cheer me up....... i am 4 years into the constant....   i can shut you down ... we can shut you down, she can shut you down .. i can take your license ..  get these dogs out of here..,,, add a few phone calls /"or else".....hopefully when the court case is over we can either go back to normal or  let them take our dogs.     i am exhausted.

but i ain't down yet.

I THINK THERE   MUST BE ONE HECK OF A BUMP IB THE MIDDLE OF THE HARBOR.

BETH WANTED TO SEE A SERVICE DOG IN ACTION... SO I PULLED JIMINEY OUT OF THE FIELD AND PUT A HARNESS ON HIM... HE   WAS THE PERFECT GENTLEMAN-- WHICH IS  IS NOT NECESSARILY TRUE WHEN NOT IN HARNESS..  WE WENT THRU A MOB SCENE AT TEH LOBSTER RESTAURANT ABD HE LAY DOWN AND NEVER BUDGED WHILE  WE DEVOURED LOBSTER.. WIHT THE TYPICAL "I NEVER KNEW HE WAS THERE... " JIMINEY IS THE  PERFECT EXSAMPLE OF A SEIZURE ALERT DOG.  I NEVR TRAINED HIM, BUT NIETHER JIMINEY OR SIZZLE WILL LET ME FALL ASLEEP IN MY DESK CHAIR-- THEIR TIMING IS PPERFECT... JUST AS I START TO DOZE  OFF.. THOSE WET JOWLS    HIT MY HAND.    NO TRAINING... AUTOMQATIC...

In the process of taking the dogs for a ride in the car I ended up wandering around streets of boxford... boxwood has to be the longest and thinnest town in Massachusetts and it really is very easy to get lost in it however I came to two women walking through the woods and pulls up next to them they were little shocked but stopped to talk and of course they saw the two dogs in the back three dogs whatever and add is typically... I drew the same thing if you get stuck for something to say you talk about your favorite charity which in their case was a little red schoolhouse in bottesford,,,, which has been for years a very cherished little red schoolhouse it's literally old and red it has all the chairs and things still in it which I think not positive but I think on a yearly basis they take students from the other schools and make them go sit in these funny little chairs in the little red schoolhouse well they talk about the age of the thing... so after she talked about that I figured I'd better look it up to see whether they're having some sort of charity deal it's the kind of town where they would have a craftable deal and I could certainly give them some monkey fists however after she got through with that she talked about the Danes I talked about the Danes and she said her husband has started reading an article that's in the local paper about great Danes and he's enjoying it and they're wonderful that's got to be my my article which is due out today she had great things to say about it I was very pleased....... however today is we'll see how it sells I wrote today's in the conversational manner as if the dogs were talking and the first one says we have so much to learn and that that sit still in the car and not to go sniff people and we mustn't stand in our water dish and the next comment was you wouldn't believe what they do in their water dish... so we'll see if those those are sort of zeegers that I put in there see if anybody gets them there's some that are a little bit left direct..

 

I think that is story #7 or column number 7 which means this Thursday and Friday and I have to turn in the next one by Saturday noon.. the subject of my column these eight puppies are doing beautifully yesterday I came up at noon time and found that they had already had their lunch but they had come out of the house very cautiously that's needs some work but then they had lined up at their dinner table and stood there while Judy took a picture they're all lined up perfectly so I can use that in next week's column if I can find it I'm working between two computers now because I don't know any other way to do it the one in my room the new one says it can't find the Internet and it also doesn't have any of the strings of emails that I need that I have saved over the years whatever this particular one starts with erlene who was our birthing mother if she had her yellow sweater on..

 

this computer you don't wanna hear about it look forget it however keep in mind that I am tyed  to constant contact and they're the ones that have my email list for sending this thing out two 2500 people... and if they get a case of the hiccups you'll all have to go to buy website oh boys well I figure that out.

 

Last I knew gwen’s friend was interested in big round iron circle things.. like BIG hay wagon  iron wheels--- the wood long gone.  Being slightly off center I tried ( and will continue) to get her interested in something for inner city kids – which the materials have little to no valus... like my rocks. – ot the monkey fists.  Creating sojmehitng of value out of pebbles or string...  trouble is developing a market--  but if that little red schoolhouse becomes a craft center... maybe it would work... goldie.... have a run at that one.

 

One of you  told me that mass was one of the  states  most heavily populated by rats-- could be I know that New York is holding a seminar dealing with rats'cause I think New York City is the most heavily populated rap city..  I intend to go to that rat seminar

I keep telling people that a feral pig the first one was killed out on route 2 in the middle of the state feral pigs are even worse they're 150 pound rats intelligent prolific and can eat anything.

 

Moving on to wherever I am to find my daughter at 10:  I have to be prepared for some creative mental exercise which can fly off in any direction... tho most probably the place up the road whicci sells fried lobster for lunch....might be on teh adgenda---  always an interesting discussion...

There are 2 identical seafood places... across the street from each other we always go to Browns on the right and we would not dream of going to whatever the other one is across the street and to me it seems heavily related to the fact that dogs are going through the woods little stay on a 6 inch path horses aren't allowed different donkeys definitely will in other words you put your feet exactly where you've been before.. I know that the conversation will come up today with should we try the one across the street and after a great long conversation we will end up going to Browns I believe it's in Salisbury mass pretty close if it's not

i have stated this as fact.... but i cannot remember if it is roberts rules of order....

if you are with someone who falls overboard and becomes 

hypothermic  isn't it wrong to wrap them in a towel  when what you need to do is

 the transfer of heat is always from the  hotter body's heat will pass to the cooler.

put it outside in the 20 degree temp and have it take the heat out of the outside air(?making it 18 degrees)

and moving thoae 2 degrees indors to have teh indoor temp go from 64 to 66

blows my mind--- but tthat is what ia m sitting under right here... mitsubiski-

 there is a problem when the outside temp gets to 5 degrees it transfers teh 5 degrees indoors until it feels like

performing the other way round...... other than that ,,, they are wonderfu.... if you have a fireplace for huddling 2 days a year.

 it was too nippy to put them in the used car lot....  we need 2 skinney types ( people)to get them to go thru the  flap of the doggie door to the heated-- not toasty, but heated kurranda bed.... they have to know that before they go anyewhere else...  they have that instinct... find mommy... ....warm and food mommy... we are  describing all that in our  weekly columnin the ipswich news--- if you. can fine the right ipswich.... there is one in england and australia.   try. mass... i try....

i had a brilliant idea last night. and i did not forget it this morning.....

wouldn't it be nice if the town hall was a composit of help for people who might need it ... wow. how odd....  i have yesterday recieved the 4th copy of what i must do in the next 14 days - there is one  on the list i do not want to do- everything else was done before the 5 officials trooped in...  but maybe... just maybe. - if ipswich had some Board of critical assistance there are families who could stand some help...and some of these dreadful situations would not  materialize. i , thankfully at the moment .. don't need that help. i get i kick out of teh demand i spend money on things of no earthly use.
that concept started long ago with building inspector insisting i spend $27000 on a soil compaction study  with a specific engineer... and how "you are only a woman,"   ,,-- now i am alot older and crankier and could be classified as an old woman sitting on 12 acres there has to be some reason i am blessed with all this attention....and always a very derogatory  tone..... cruel, mean , messy ------has anyone looked over the kelp comments-- every time i have to say "no" to someone who. wants a dog... i am the most rude stupid, uncaring sob on the earth.   -- and that is when i have  not said anything.. i certainly can have those qualities... just get me going.... i have some sailors as linguistic. instructors  in my history... hopefully our period of a reduced number of dogs is over as we hover over the next prego... due in a couple weeks...??

place absolutely quiet.... bentley wants "out" so i open teh door.... he ( and i ) both hear the neighbors dog barking away... so he joins the barking-- so it becomes a relay system... teh neighbors on the west can not hear the dogs barking to my east, but if there is no other sound, they might hear bentley...

so as teh problem of teh barking begins to come to court i have realized i should put some information on paper... graph style.. so people can undersatand who /when/ what happened....

i am expecting some heavy duty help this week....   and one of my favorite cp's i s alive and awake  --- grumpy.--- retired grumpy.  is always good for a legal  word or two...

i will find someome  ?rhett? to drive my car around today... maybe janine has landed somewhere with her horses --- rhett and s.o. have a horse interest... they are tooo young to get the historical  significance. but there is plenty of current chaos to make it interesting//. rhett is  studying physical therapy, and she neurological whatever.... i don't know if she is a rider-- or what type...  between matt as cowboy/western and janine the hunter jumper type , i thinkk we have it covered... with pockets for trick training.... to be developed...

carl ( in kennel 9 so he could be seen by olaf in africa) will go back with olaf-- who is returning today from a meeting in africa....  3 days to get there 2 days meeting and 3 days to get home...nobody there zooms ....yet i guess.

well lets start on problem 57.. the rats------ that ate my car  which has upset alot of people.. strarting with me... i liked that sequoia...  welllll// i/we own 5 toyotas of the age which has been annoooounced to be with soy tasting wires------ 2 are parked within sight of  a neighbors house.. and 2 are parked down by the barn.
teh 2 by the barn...lynns and janine's   do not have any angry red lights all over her dashboard -------mine and rave -- my car was totaled and the other rav has a bunch of red lights similar to mine... how odd....  we have one of unknown parkage or redlightage... now if i park that on the hill and lights come on... i wonder if any conclusion might be drawn maybe nothing 100%  but i would have a bunch of fun with it and let the insurance companies battle it out.

friends coming this afternoon----looking forward to the visit--  reminder to  all coming to boston to visit  SDP.....---- you get on teh train  from north station that  is labeled   rockport or newbury port--- because both go to beverly which is where you get off to be closest to sdp.....and if you call when you actually first get on the train the timing works for us to meet you in beverly.

 i notice how ever so slightly. people are beginning to travel again even---- then there are a few who during the cov  bit decided never to fly again.  i thinki am one of those.....problem being  i watch dr pol  channel 132 on my tv... and everyonce in a while i hit 134 by mistake -- and that is "airplane disasters"  where someone  analyzes how the accident happened---and it turns out to be that the co pilots second uncle told him to never set metal  next to the compass

dog  feeding-----i can remember the good old days.. we had a washtub in the doorway of the main barn in lynnfield--- into which i would pour a 50 pound bag of purina dog chow  maybe twice a week...    that fed teh rooster..  who kinda guarded it...all yard dogs and barn cats.. wild birds, squirrels and chipmunks.. and i am sure a rat or two., my vet expense for the year was $2 each for the ir rabies shot. at the firehouse.

it was during this time we had polly-- i dont know where we got her- everybody was a stray of some kind.polly looked like pure bassett hound  -----

polly was not spayed--- that never occurred to me-- even as she got very round which i figured was teh tub of dog food.... until one afternoon black puppies began dropping out of the back of her...i was off property  at the time  i called to check on the kids...... so i told the kids ( neighborhood collection there of)well go look around --------when i got home   i heard " hey mom here's another by the stone wall"and the kids had collected 12 black pups in a basket  withh horseblanket in the barn  where polly was nursing them. turns out polly ' significant other was the neighbors black lab--- and polly's children wer adorable black bassetts  who were around the farm many into adulthood --- the only difference in teh routine was maybe 4 bags of dog chow per week...and my vet bill remained $2 per dog per year....

wha happened???????

flash forward " i can not give you a rabies shot until  i do  a $50 physical exam.. i could be critized by my  vet  professionals  " so go ahead and get critized..i will try tractor supply for $7.50"

  when does one say whoa.. let me slow up and think...i need to understand the relativity of what you are presenting as factual...  

i know this is dangerous-- and people will rightly so critize me for even talking about it... but here we go... 

firstly let me point out i am an equal opportunity criticizer-- including   myself------why did it take me so long to say something. 

love that new car withteh warm seat..... so i sat around in the fresh air and watched....."they" were feeding lunch.

 and the longer i sat there the more lunch they fed... peop;e wandering around with stacks of bowls- for 4 dogs in another building.. "pups  have always had lunch"

me "this dog is nearly 2 years old"

.then ""i  had to wash and dry the bowls" 

me  " that is taking too long"

them "well i will get xxx to help me so it will take half the time"

me" and sdp cost for salary would be teh same 

them "whaaaaaaat do you mean  ?"

so i asked the next trainer by to make me a list of who got lunch. very nearly everybody .

ok---what happens if at noontime  eh kennel person takes a box of cookies and goes round twe need to study more "processes" o every dog on property  ... looks at them.. and decides itf they get one cookie or a cupful and every person with a dog in theri care at noon.. does the same thing..- would eliminate geting a dog back in time for lunch.. and the bowl business of wash and  dry...many  hours of staff time.

I DID ALERT ANN TO THE FACT THAT I MIGHT NEED ANOTHER $6 FOR BAIL MONEY--- WHICH MAKES ME WONDER...  SINCE THE JUDGE THREW OUT THE LAST THING I WAS JAILED FOR DOESN'T THAATMEAN I SHOULD GET MY $20 BAIL MONEY BACK AGAIN??  OR D O THEY  JUST GIVE ME A CREDIT BALANCE FOR THE NEXT OFFENSE?

THIS MORNING'S lecture will be on coggins testing..

for those of you horse people , it is not news .. it is a test for equine infectious anemia-  a death sentance for any horse  testing positive.  
this testing started in  1973.. back when janine and gwen both rode horses and i had a bunch of 4h kids horses in   the barn

panic set in immediately. as all began to try and find horses that looked like their kids horse so they could put down the look alke and save the horse/pony so important to  the development of their child... i was no exception as janine's "tinker" was carrying her 20 miles a day all the way thru middleton square to ride with friends who eventually all went on the 50 mile ride in vermont -- eventually we got all 6 tests negative.. but it has to be one of the worst weeks of my life worrying those 6 horses thru that test.------ these kids were  about 10-12 years old as we waved goodbye to the lot of them and they rode off into the carefully marked trails of the green mountain horsemans association.

tinker was good.. being 1/2 arabian - known for distance riding.

as the next 30 years of horsing around went by...  the $10 test charge with the $50 farm call  became a real problem for poe[ple having trouble paying the hay bill anyway,,,... me.....

pain in the harassment  then.. and still now-- where 5 cars and people wandering all over my house  results in  quarintining all the equines here until i locate teh coggins test for the mare i have just reciently pruchased...  the paper is probably in the trailer which may be in north carolina.. logically---- as if i need it , it would be because i was going over state lines- and i had only one trailer..

so while i wait for the returmn of that piece of paper- the critical important coggins test...i thought  JUST WHO HAVE I KNOWN THAT TESTED POSITIVE SINCE 1973? i have known hundreds of people who  -- terrified--- pay the $60 --- to be certain to protect themselves from all these EIA  horses. really??  just who???

bless the internet.  in 2019  they tested 1,111.987 horses.. and had 51  positives----- guess what----  45 ae in texas  the other 6 are scattered around the country--- none of which are in ny and new england..  

now matt has been to texas with his horse ( if he has not been to texas he sure sounds like it) and we did have these 2 horses without 

current papers- so the probability was slight, but there.. so the verification of the health of those horses demanded the utmost care.  we must not leave room for a  well intending parent  to euthanize the wrong horse.. they must be complete. 

so they told bryan dvm to send them 3 photos instead of having one of these "official  "  persons  drive  the 4 miles from ipswich center to verify the identity.

no particular excitement over the weekend..many emails with. thier own rat stories.. and solutions for  guest rats....

there are just too many questions  beyond me...... lawyer type problems. 

now here;s teh help for certain.   our #1 pilot sent his popular soup.. great idea. -- people  sending food- ....-

My computer is too screwed up to find the pictures, but you all know them... my rearend standing at the lower gate with about 8 or 10  adult dogs. and the many pictures of 6 dogs eating together at one table.. no problems

 

Either of these pictures would be impossible now.. sometimes even feeding two results in a battle. The noise at feed time is awful

 

So I had the brainstorm of trying to write exactly what  training we did before.. and the way to remember would be to witness it day by day and write the weekly progress report by watching the litter we now have. And I think it has gone pretty well.... I am at the stage where yesterday I asked cindy to spoon feed while moving around 3 locations--- kitchen sofa ..window and then stool.  In preparation for recall between 2 people... there was no one else to ask her to do that... there  has been no one to keep that progression going –and teh puppy marches became a thing of the past...it starts around teh chimney... then house... then flagpole then swing...without direct supervision   it just became too much trouble and if  I dared suggest it would get tossed aside as silly....there was no follow thru...

. I mentioned it so many times. Then I  lost interest too.  So here we are.

 

Lyn is doing a great job but is overwhelmed and she is only involved with the feeding fiasco if someone is out... things she should not have to do... installing computers for example...car repairs.. building projects..... and we do still need a groundskeeper for these things dragging her away from training.

 

At 84 I am not sure I can even attempt to pull together the complete training that we used to do... with fairground runs and all....but if not now... when??

gotta.   love broadway music !!  i saw  that  show.  "two by two"... the curtain opened and someone came out and said that danny kaye had had a terrible accident and broken his leg--  the crowd groaned-- he was why we were all there.....theater went dark... then the curtain flipped open and out came danny kaye bellowing  teh classic "why me???" and continued the entire show...  hopping about.--- dances and all ----with a cast on one leg....

the show  two by two is noah arguing with his children and God about building the arc... so many times i have thought of the real first 3 lines to that show.. which danny skipped that night.

which firmly planted in my head " the great ones do not quit"..and as i got involved with some greats in the movie business, i saw it was definitely true.. a young, new commers would be the one to call a halt for some trivial matter. just because... they could. -----the great ones gave.. and kept giving.... jack nickleson got out of "his chair - gave it to some guy on crtuches and stood behind for a photogrraph...cher trying to get a crowd singing "kookaberry sits in. the old oak tree" ( an old girl scout song).  making movies can be extremely dull and there were  identical triplets in the movie who needed entertaining... p.s.  that mother told me she had their entire college tuition paid. for in the 2 weeks working on  the movie(witches of eastwick) ...

that made me realize  anything unusual.. like identical triplets,,, was a marketable item in the film bureau--and therefor made an awful lot of things deductable..

back to. "why me?"  i am a victim of statistics... i have been too fragile... too frail. lets get down to  facts 

dogs  can bark noisliy--- you have 50 dogs---  therefore....your farm is noisy----  except it isn't

animal feed attracks rats-- you store tons of animal feed-- therefore you cause hundreds of rats----except we don't

it was almost comical to have the group stand there when i said last time we were all together it was because of dogs always barking unbearably loud.. had anyone even heard any barking at all?   no... there was nothing to bark at.

3 of the 5 were town employes-paid for by ipswich-- 

i better quit.

 because at 4pm.. due to nothing i did-------- i was in my driveway with a 1200 pound dead horse. and  2 pieces of paper which clearly said  if i moved it i could go to  jail for a year,  and---- it gave no phone number to ask for help-- just jail time.. i called the town the result was.......

no one would come out and give me another signed paper releasing the dead horse--( also they did not want it in thier driveway...)  so i was forced to rely on their  word,,, which i am reluctant to do... to take 3 photos of the dead horse and then i could remove it . negating  the quarintine notice...i was just doing a favor to a family that could not cope  with  teh death and spillage of  gallons of uterine fluid if she exploded....

. it never occurred to me that my kennel license was in danger due to that favor...

Davis was switching positions during spoon feeding yesterday to get more food!  I thought this is what you wanted to know.  Would sit at the end, get a spoonful then move two dogs over for more!  I have to admit, I was laughing so hard.

i do think that the few rats i still have will illustrate the real problem... that is   rats are intelligent. i think the ones left will need a bit of study and trianing so get them. trapped.  i am currently working on a puppy proof rat killer.. i will get there... i am not as young as i used to be and can not crawl around to try and figure this out. \

84 -20 is 64 rats so far killed by me and my snap victor traps which i consider  the best...  our  internet camera people have sent me all sorts of new traps to try..  mostly i have sent them to the barn,,, but have not heard any huge rat catch there...  just a few. 

Elecreic... tnaglefoot.  Drowning...barrels..and my own exhaust method....

 

It might be interesting for everyone to try. ----- set out a box of dog cookies in you garage or living quarters. ---for a couple weeks and see what happens.   i know one rat can carry off 3 medium milkbones per night. That was when we only had gisselle living under the stairs...  I taught her to go pick up a milk bone which I then used for bait- and she went to their rainbow bridge...

 

My advice.. reconsider the intelligence of the   rat—.

rats 17- humans 2 ----for all of mass....don;t be shocked-- and in spite  of all the attention i got with. 5 vehicles yesterdayi will be very upset if they can think of something i should have done by now and have not.  what was so insulting was to have one "inspector"  notice the 3 inch round hole in the garage door and very proudly say " see that is how they are getting in... you must cover that and you problems could  be solved"  

that was the level of discussion. -- these people were not here to discuss   and learn.. they would be in. command  of this ship as soon as they found out what the rudder was for.

this whole problem with rats is nation wide- and in mass it is normal size rats -------tho one  200 pound feral rat was killed here on route 2 last month.

people are beginning to pay attention-- the last encouraging thing is the  rat birth control food --  i will try....   i ordered 3 units quickly...

i certainly do not know everything about rats-  but i know  some things. the last infestation of rats was when they dug up the partridgeberry property  for the developement...  we had hundreds of rats running the fences between barn and laundry... details like... we had 8 bags of horse food delivered weekly and by the time i went to dump the 8th bag it was empty.   50 pounds .. in a week.... you want to apply that to some corn farmers numbers...- we  snap trapped and got control eventually i was younger and more agile.  and the owls, and fishercats  did their part...-- there were things i did "off label". like backing my car up to a tree where i had seen a rat hole... and stuffed an extension to my exhaust pipe in the hole for a while. 

most noteably. these were not poisoned-- happily living on grain---wildlife ate them... and i packaged them and froze them in the meeting house freezer and ran the "frozen rodent delivery company". with george myers help  rehabilitatiors, snake people etc loved our non poisoned rodents.

we were fine for years  with semi normal control. -- a snap trap once in a while. owls and cats -- seemed to stay at a  reasonable level.... untilthe fallof 2021 when the house had too manyvisitors. so .. on amazon. i bought 4 cases of rat traps from nov to jan1.   and people sent me a huge variety of ones to try...

and at the moment.  i think i have only 10 traps left...  so we are catching them..  and we have hired an exterminator-- who is using our type traps and they have caught  about 1  a week     the guy is younger and can bend...

my overnight report from heather... who is keeping track.. says we are down to 4 rats who come out overnight. - so we are getting there..

the problem is-- for all of mass... these are not stupid animals- and i think i am reduced to 4 rtats who know exactly what those traps are. and until i figure out somethignelse, i am not going to catch those...  my latest concept is to train the remaining 4 to come  to a specific spot and trap in conjunction with that...

and i have ordered 3 of the birthcontrol "kits" 

and i finally got my "hog rings to maked small cages in whichi can put traps so pups dpnt get intot hem....
