i miss my old penpals.... Ben Dover and Ima Nurz..... did i miss some ?? where is Jeri Kahn and all the rest of you
i started thinking about them when someone suggested i throw away the lovely ( broken- non functioning) refrig/freezer currently in front of the t tent. i have for a month put dog cookies in it-- to tempt any rodent out of the chicken feeders and so far, it is secure... with Boston being one of teh top 20 rodent infested cities in the USA, it seems to me that these old refrigerators might provide perfect rodent proof cabinets for nearly everyone . besides they charge $50 to get rid of them.
nearly everyone here sees that stainless steel "icebox" as a refrigerator only – fooled by the label ---instead of a secure stainless cabinet- which it also is... i thought of giving up and tossing it out, but you know... i just can not do that. i have also thought of loading it on the tractor forks and running around teh neighborhood to see if anyone else can use it. we do have that seaworthy "container". which is 20' x 8' rodent proof for our large storage. but it seems wwe should be aable to get rid of some of teh plastic box approaches in teh t tent -- not only rodents but dusty coffee cups or soup bowls are not the most attractive--- the dust of "stone dust" adds grit to our grittle.... that refrig would solve that problem also.
Which brings me to the “tower of projects”—a very nice stainless rack of shelves in my bedroom/office....for projects under consideration... To this rack I have attached a collection of hardware that I had to buy in bulk for the various ROPE projects like two and three inch brass rings--- about six different kinds of trigger snaps... All dripping down the side.
----Now------- my husband. gave up his office medical practice at least 30 years ago and in the physical closing many of his tools of the trade got thrown in various cardboard boxes and through the 30 years so very strange stainless steel tools have appeared in our general life around here---- one of my very favorites is a pair of plier type things that are about a foot long I don't know what any of these things were for well I just look on them that's what they now can be used for----- and those very long plier Things have earned a place in my normal toolbox.. during this last shuffling of belongings and the dismantling of our overflow room.. our volunteers and staff worked very hard 2 move things in a very organized manner to the cellar where they are categorized pretty accurately ..it is because of that. that strange things appear in strange places... and my collection of future projects in my bedroom Is no exception
What I would like to know is why at the bottom of a 5 foot string of brass snaps there is -now attached - a strange speculum..
What is that you say? Well google says...
A speculum is a duck-bill-shaped device that doctors use to see inside a hollow part of your body and diagnose or treat disease.
I can not see teh connection any woman would have made to categorize that “instrument” as similar to brass snaps. It must have been a man who did that ... men do not have as many hollow parts into which a doctor wishes to see..
We have a delightful couple of people from Oregon- landed last night in boston and are now sleeping upstairs—brave souls they must be.... I have not been upstairs in many years--I hope it's respectable. -----turns out he..... and maybe she too... I didn't ask--- is a medical doctor.. so I think this morning when they do get up.. I will bring him into my bedroom and show him my brass hardware and see if he can figure out why that speculum would in any way be connected to the brass snaps.. should be good for a laugh..
I find—I never forget someone who made me really laugh.
This is why I am very excited to hear of those times when the daily doggie makes someone laugh so instantaneously that they spit their coffee all over the keyboard.
