Sept 12, 2011

good morning

you will be glad to know the  porch poopings are much better ( that is the olive pups... hazel and siblings)..

i have not received the bill for the albon yet....  albon must be the reason they are straightened out---- but maybe ... george... should we put these other pups on it too???  or should  i  try the tylan??  i have a big jar of that...

along with tylan ... i have empty capsules to fill with it--- because the starting dose of 1/4 a teaspoon would never get past the noses of even the hungriest of dogs..

i remember.... donna sittin g in the tv room filling capsules with the stuff-- all you have to do is open the jar and you can taste it's bitter flavor.

maybe that should be a t-tent job--- in the fresh air...nice sitting down job  ... yuck
******************
now on the topic of money

as you know----we donate these dogs-- even tho producing a trained dog costs us about $15,000-

so all of you folk who have one of our dogs... i think it is reasonable to ask that you encourage your friends and relatives to participate in the $10 chicken sh#t bingo monthly game   --

with a $500 prize and only 350- tickets to sell-- it is better odds than the lottery

having one of these  the first Sunday of every month would take the huge burden of paying for dog food   off our shoulders
An awful lot of people whip $10 out of their pocket  regularly for lottery tickets.

the October "wall " is a click off out web page...
or better yet... i will hand feed the address to you..
but you can refer friends to our web for access.

*****************
speaking of sitting down jobs
on the "can't-- won't-- doesn't-- shouldn't"  topic
we have a new applicant-- nice college kid--
got to get them trained to my objection to using the "CAN'T" word.

somebody  ?earlene? said we should put all new applicant's parents  in the room with jade's mom for 20 minutes.

at any rate the gal tried walking with fido in harness--- she said it was the first time she had walked anywhere without her parents in a very long time.

boy-- bringing dad along would  put a quick end to a dating relationship.

i was amazed that fido went along with the test walk very nicely--- and did not spin in circles looking for megan--- good dog...

we do have some good dogs--- with a couple noteable exceptions..  pi-- aka  3.14
*****************
greg gets the prize for hole digging-  i have been avoiding digging the last post for the new nut house-- between the rocks and roots it is a discouraging location..- greg dug a hole so deep that if i drop a 8'post in it, it will drop out of sight.
he also lifted and banged away- and was a great help too

as with david--- he  takes levels and right angles as a suggestion only.

i was afraid to ask for help for fear someone would decide to straighten  this out-- when i worked overtime to have the floor tipped for runoff.-- but so far the roof is level.

i could get addicted to help-- it beats struggling --- and david said he had some time Tuesday afternoon to bash on...
******************

ann made it to frankfurt--- i can not say i would have rushed to fly out of boston on sept 11th-- but she got there --

as for the 9/11 ceremony--- the singing of the stars spangled banner by the  children's choir in new york was so good-- that at the end i wondered if it was the same song as so many singers  struggle  with at ball games--  they did harmony and sync changes that made it a delightful change...
*********************
Monday-- back to a routine of out to practice late morning

no cut and pastes???

Sept 11, 2011

of course--- the hazel report--- she is now in the kitchen with  pumpkin ( also a bit skinney) and vanilla ( fatso-- for sleeping warmth)--
i don't know who did what  but we have distinct progress..
not a flat poo in the bunch.  and lotsa bunches !!
**************
the pups-- in general--- both litters--- need more spoon feeding/name calling--

having reprimanded opal for stealing a spoonful of yellow's food... it took her a while to realize she had to wait for her name---
this concept--listen to what is being said--- is so critical--- so make sure if you do this  that you have the names correct--  there are multi black pups--- with minimal markings...

and opal --yellow and bentley are ready for long distance name calling/spoon feeding..  another critical lesson.

maybe today we can do ear exam--- they might almost be standing-- we need inspection.,
******************

we changed hillary's Saturday feeding schedule-- when you feed/etc here... you need to wander around and look at everything more often--- she cleaned the barn area all at once     did not notice that the house bunch had spilled thieir water bucket-- so at 1pm  when she brought them down to t he t tent they drank ravenously. that was the clue  something was wrong.

this is my fault--- i have so often said --- have the water buckets in full view of anyone going by-- and everyone has been putting their bucket in the very corner  "out of the way"
well this "out of the way" just is a bad idea.. you have to see it everytime you are around
and there is nothing wrong with 2 buckets--- we have enough---
'reason for 2 is not for quantity of water--- but duplication in case it gets tipped--- or a mouse goes for a lethal swim in one.
**********************
i think we have to stop thinking chaos litter is just more noisy  and pay attention to why they might be more noisy.
we have had several problems with  this bunch-- and are too quick to declare it is because of some reason sworn  true by the internet... or some ad agency... and think for ourselves.
***********
danm---  and i know better too--
*******************

i hope the blue bunch will be here today--- i need to have a hole dug for the  last post.   i could not use the tractor because i was afraid the ground might give way and the tractor would careen down the hill...  biggggg hill.
***************
bless david   ( david --- as in tucker's david)--- he showed up with 2 kids in tow--

bailey worked overtime-- 2 kids--- a little timid with the huge dogs--- i put 2 short ropes around bailey's neck and she walked those 2 kids back and forth to the t-tent while david hammered.

he is tall and not only can he use a skill saw higher than his head... but he can nail a 3"finish nail without bending it.
great skills.  he is also un phased by slicing things off to fit.
he said he would come by on Tuesday afternoon to bang  more nails .

so i went and bought nails---- and $196 worth of boards--  which ought to frame the 2/3's i have going.  like the roof.

true-ism of the day
she who does construction without enough nails is looking at disaster.

i changed the plan for the roof because of the distinct lack of paralell walls----
you can not use pre-formed identical truss' when the walls of the building wander a bit.  so it will be like the t-tent.  one board a a time.  lotsa ladder climbing.
****************
robie got the pond grass cut yesterday-  there is plenty more if anyone thinks it would be fun to mow..
****************
i put the mannie report here because there are people ( like ann) who are more experienced at this than i am.. send me your suggestions and i will forward them to bernard.
***

Mannie is well

He continues to be a gentle affectionate companion with a willingness's  to follow Me around and anticipate my need for help

I an devoting an increasing time to clearing up,walking him and all the time looking for him p r  p
recently is giving serious doubts about our ability to maintain a reliable routine  for pooping and or peeing.
He will ,without any sign we can see before hand, start urinating whilst we are in the room and looking at him. Same goes for fecal elimination. We are baffled but
1: we do not yell at him.
2: He knows we do not approve,he lowers his head and looks sad..It has got to the stage that we dare not leave him in another room alone with all doors open..
3; His stools are mostly cylinders but looser to the point of diarrhea have occurred.

He is never left alone, his food is stored and served in care conditions,

What should we do
***************
while we are in the room and looking at him
could  be mannie is standing there looking at them wondering "how do i get the message across?"

problem pup hazel ---
still on special care- loves being carried around--- alth she is active
i hope some volunteers show to hold hazel's paw

slightly better ellimination-- pancake with piles-- this is progress
spent the night in the kitchen with vanilla who - altho she is a warm lump of company for hazel-- i can't say she is the most pleasant.
*************
maybe this weekend without the chicken project we can hammer
this building could use a few more hammering volunteers---
couple more walls will provably get done today
***************
if anyone would like to worry about this terror bit.. just imagine no bridges over the hudson--- there are not that many anyway--99% or our food comes from the other side of the hudson--- and the mississippi too -  take out bridges and what do we have in new england,,,, fish????
and it would take a while to get them built back.

then congress wold never get round to the monorail down rt 95

WITH ANIMALS-- ONE THING YOU HAVE TO BE AWARE OF IS THE VARIOUS  OUTPUT--- FECES BEING ONE OF THEM--- WHICH IS WHY THIS DAILY DOGGIE HAS SO MANY REFERENCES TO THE  SIZE SHAPE QUANTITY AND COLOR   AS I MAKE OUR MORNING COLLECTION..

MY FATHER WAS SO PROUD TO PUT US THRU COLLEGE--- HE MUST BE TURNING OVER IN HIS GRAVE
TO THINK HOW MUCH OF MY LIFE IS CONCERNED WITH FECES--FROM HORSE MANURE TO PUPPY POO
TODAY IS NO EXCEPTION

KAREN AND I  TOOK HAZEL TO GEORGE'S--  JUST A BIT TOO SKINNEY-- AND WE HAD WORMED HER-- SHE DOES HAVE TERRIBLY LOOSE STOOL---- HEART NOISES FINE-- NO OBVIOUS REASON--- SO OFF TH=O THE MICROSCOPE AND SHE STILL HAS ROUNDWORMS--- AND HE DID FIND COCCIDIA--- A DIFFERENT PROBLEM-- DIFFERENT PILL--
SO SHE IS NOW ON ABOUT 4 DIFFERENT MEDS---
COCCIDIA IS FEARED BY DANE OWNERS ONLY BECAUSE THE PILLS ARE DISPENSED BY THE MG/KG  AND AT 150 POUNDS THEY CAN BE EXPENSIVE -- BIG TIME
BETWEEN FLEAS, ROUNDWORMS, GIARDIA, COCCIDIA, AND TICKS  AND MANY MORE NATURALLY OCCURING BEASTS--- IT IS NO WONDER THE DOGS THAT LEAVE THE FARM AND LIVE A NORMAL CITY TYPE LIFE LOOK BETTER.

I AM WONDERING IF THIS IS THE REASON SOME DOGS DO WELL ON A PINCH OF TYLAN FOR MONTHS

WE HAVE A BIG PROBLEM WITH HAZEL- AND WILL  DO WHAT GEORGE SUGGESTS---
BUT AS FAR AS EXPIRIMENTING WITH THE REST... WE HAVE THAT LARGE BOTTLE OF  THAT FOUL TASTING TYLAN.--

BEING GADGET ORIENTED--- I HAVE TO COMMENT ON GEORGE'S POO RETRIEVAL SYSTEM-- IT BEATS KAREN  RUNNING AROUND BEHIND WIHT A COFFEE CUP.
IT IS A STRAW WITH A SLIGHT BULDGE  AND SLITS AT THE END-- INSERTED TIL IT HITS SOMETHING- SLIGHT TWIST TO COLLECT AND BINGO  HE HAD A SAMPLE.

AND YOU ALL MAKE FUN OF SOME OF THE THINGS I INVENT... !!

WE NEED ONE OF THOSE TIME SAVERS-- I AM SURE THERE IS A CHEAP VERSON MADE IN CHINA.

*************
I JUST TALKED TO GWEN ( DAUGHTER #1)  SHE HAD TO TAKE HER HUSBAND TOI THE AIRPORT ( IPSWICH TO LOGAN) AND DOWN AND BACK TOOK 5 HOURS

YESTERDAY JANINE CALLED (DAUGHTER #2)  SHE WAS ON 128  AT  6AM ON HER WAY TO WORK-- AND SHE HAD SPENT 2 HOURS GETTING FROM DANVERS TO LYNNFIELD (?10 MILES?)

AND YOU DON'T THINK A MONORAIL ON RT 95 FROM MAINE TO FLORIDA WOULD SAVE OIL/GAS?

I AM TOLD THERE IS A BIKE RENTAL SYSTEM IN BOSTON NOW WHICH IS VERY SUCCESSFUL-- APPARENTLY DONE IN EUROPE--- SLIDE A CREDIT CARD AND TAKE A BIKE TO BE TURNED IN SOMEWHERE ELSE...

WE NEED THIS KIND OF THING
ALL THESe PEOPLE SITTING ON STATIONARY BIKES PEDDLING Away-- all in a row... there is an insaanity about that.
****************

back to the dogs

cardboard !!  i am no longer fussy about size shape and will take anything we get.
**************
plastic chewing

the pups can reach the plastic liners of the recycling--- i could not figure out were they were getting --- and maybe swallowing? short plastic bits --- til they tipped over the entire bin..   so we and not wrap the liner around the top-

worse problem-- pi got down the box of gloves-- and as she and opal chewed up the box, many of the gloves were probably knawed upon-- i could not throw all those out--- so i suggest you blow into them to see if they have holes in them before using ----

JASPER REPORT

Hi Carlene!  Jasper's first day at Club Canine...what a good dog!  He enjoyed all the attention during his bath; met the other dog customers in a gentlemanly way; explored the outside grounds but was confused upon hearing the trucks and promptly "hid" in the branches of the big crabapple tree (like we couldn't see him!!).  A little reassurance was all he needed.
Home is becoming more familiar and it's fun seeing him learn new things.  He's a bit pushy, but I'm thinking it's the joy of discovery.  Strong bond with me, but it's slower with Chris.  And Finnigan and Jasper actually had some play time this morning...yea!  Appetite and poops all fine.
All for now ~ Stacey

AND JODI

A physical trainer, Travis was at our house the other day to help me because I am having pain.  My walking has changed again and I am dragging my foot a different way.  He was working on the muscles in my leg.  I started to have tremors because he was pushing on a muscle.  Stormy was instantly up and by my side.  She wouldn't leave the side of the bed until I stopped shaking.
Even Travis was amazed.  Each time he worked on a muscle and it would cause my leg to tremble Stormy would get up and lean on the side of the bed by me until it stopped.
The dogs smell, feel and hear more than humans ever do.  They are special.
As always, thank you for the gift of Stormy.  She is an amazing dog.  Pat Bobby and Luna on the head and tell them their baby girl is a great, Great Dane service dog.  You can be proud of her.

puppies are much better organized now....

5am procedure  ( there are a couple of you who are actually using this nonsense as a puppy raising manual)

shove the 3 hats and adults out the front door anD shut it before they see it is raining.

set a big bowl  puppy food soaking/with some canned and 2 glugs of pepto bismal

clean and towel  the kitchen pen area

set out 7 NON TIPPABLE BOWLS/FOOD (ANOTHER HANGUP OF MINE TO BE DISCUSSED LATER)

SET OUT HANDFULL OF CARDBOARD SQUARES AND A COSTCO BUCKET LINED WITH GROCERY BAG

LET IN THE 7 CHAOS PUPS WHO WILL DASH FOR THE DISHES
SHUT THEM IN  THE KITCHEN--
SET OUT TIPPABLE DISHES IN COSTCO BUCKETS /FOOD FOR "THE HATS"

LET IN THE FRON T DOOR BUNCH WHO ARE BY NOW --- WET AND VERY HAPPY TO GET IN.  SO THEY CAN MOVE THEIR BOWELS  ON THE VINYL FLOOR--( IT IS RAINING  DANES DO NOT DO RAIN WILLINGLY)

CHAOS WILL JUMP IN WITH HER PUPS--- SHE IS VERY HAPPY TO HAV THEM WHERE SHE CAN PLAY WITH THEM--- AND HOPEFULLY TRAIN THEM A LITTLE BETTER.

THEY ARE LEARNING THE BASIC COMMANDS
 GET AWAY
DON'T STEP IN IT
GET YOUR TOENAILS OFF MY LEG
DON'T STAND ON THE FENCE
DON'T CHEW AND SHAKE YOUR LITTERMATE
AND STOP FENCE FIGHTING WITH BENTLEY

SCRAWNEY HAZEL  IS PERFECTLY ACTIVE-- EATING WELL BUT SLOWLY-- PREFERS  THE MORE LIQUID FORM- AND NEEDS A BIT OF SPECIAL HANDLING -- THERE IS ONE BROTHER WHO IS TWICE HER SIZE--- WHO WOULD EAT THE BOWL IF HE COULD GET IT IN HIS MOUTH.

THERE ARE 4 BLACKS
SO HERE WE GO WITH THE NAME CALLING PROBLEM
I KNOW THE BLACK/WHITE FACE IS "ORDER"  BUT THE OTHER 3 NEED TOENAIL POLISH OR SOMETHING.

FOR YOU NEWCOMERS .... THAT IS "ORDER" OUT OF "CHAOS"

AND THE TIPABLE BOWL PROBLEM

IF YOU SET OUT THE USUAL DOG DISH WITH HAPPY JUMPING PUPS, AND THEY STEP ON IT RIGHT, IT WILL SNAP UP AND HIT THEM IN THE FACE OR BREAK A LEG--- SO AROUND HERE....IF A DISH IS ON THE FLOOR, IT MUST BE THE WIDE BOTTOM VARIETY--- AND WE HAVE THEM.

THE USUAL DOG DISHES FIT PERFECTLY IN THE COSTCO BUCKETS--MAKING THEM RAISED( IF YOU LIKE THAT THEORY) OR EASIER TO PICK UP (MY NOTION)
SOME PEOPLE THINK THE RAISED DISHES PREVENT BLOAT-
TO MY KNOWLEDGE THE CAUSE OF BLOAT IS UNKNOWN....
BUT THE INTERNET IS A WONDERFUL DISPENSER OF RANDOM INFORMATION.

I REMEMBER......
THERE WAS AN INTERNET RUMOR THAT FABREEZE WOULD KILL A DOG- AND THAT FRIEND OF MINE WITH THE BLUE DOGS IN NEW YORK WAS/IS ABSOLUTELY CONVINCED THAT IS TRUE.
I BOUGHT A CAN YESTERDAY
IT HASN'T KILLED ANY DOGS
IT ALSO HASN'T HELPED as an air freshner.

BUT THAT IS WHY FABREEZE ADS ALWAYS CONTAIN A DOG....
 AT LEAST SO FAR.
********************
wondering how karen is doing way down in new york--- i hear it is the monsoon season there?????
********************
another report --- here is why we do this--

Good afternoon Carlene,
Hey is a trooper! Even with the rain he guided me across the parking lot to the automatic doors. We made it inside and then began the walk along the corridor to the elevator. We had students walking on both sides of us and Hey quickly learned the term "no sniff'". Elevator etiquette was perfect on both entering and exiting. Our next adventure was to go through the cafeteria at lunch time. Lots of voices, strange sounds and smells but he maintained his professional demeanor. He is a prominent fixture in my office and students and staff alike came to visit. All of them were polite and asked permission to pet him. When we are out and about, this request is not allowed as we are working. Leaving the building, students held doors for us even though they are automatic. A service dog brings out the chivalry in people. Arriving home, he had his lunch of a piece of cheese and then snoozed on the couch. Looking forward to more adventures with him.
WOOF
Hey, Gay and Jerry

*******************
TIMID DANE LOOKING TO THEIR OWNER FOR REASSURANCE IS A GOOD THING- AS IN BAILEY GETTING IN THE SHOPPING CART WITH THE WIRE BOTTOM.

MANY LAB/GOLDEN  DOG TRAINERS DO NOT SEE THIS... AND REJECT DANES AS TOO FEARFUL.

AND THEN THERE IS TESS - WHO IS BOLDER-AND DOES NOT NEED ANYONE'S HELP-
AFTER AN HOUR IN COSTCO WITH HER --- MY SHOULDER THOUGHT TIMID WOULD BE ALOT BETTER.

THAT COA VAN IS WONDERFUL --- YESTERDAY  5 PEOPLE -- ON SEATS-- 4 DANES-- AND IT WAS PERFECT.

THE LEATHER DRIVERS SEAT NEEDS REPAIR--- AND WE HAVE A STITCHING AWL-- SO SOMEONE HAVE AT IT.
**********************
P.S THE STOOL REPORT--- HOW COULD I FORGET???

THE CHAOS PUPS--HAVE DRASTICALLY IMPROVED-  WE DID GIVE THEM PEPTO... COTTAGE CHEESE... AND 1/8TH A FLAGYL  IN THEIR DINNER LAST NIGHT.  THERE WERE MOUNDS,... MOUNDS WITH CYLINDARS ,... AND 2  WITH CYLINDARS !!! ONLY ONE PANCAKE... PROBABLY HAZEL

puppy pondering of the day
chaos pups are noisy-- they are also hungry-- so we are feeding them 6 meals a day now--- but i am wondering if the early abrupt weaning because of her mastitis will have any effect on them in general-- at the moment they are jumpier than the rest--- so massive individual attention is recommended..

and the olive bunch spent their first day/night in the barn  -- in 9/10-- megan verified they were running around the circle from 9 to outside and in the #10 door-- and when i went down at 7pm  they were all out in the rain looking at me -- but ran in when i got in the alleyway-  so they should be fine.

pistol and pi spent the night with megan.. again..
works for me !

the back room/deck is getting rearranged daily to redo the chaos pups area.

the rain is keeping me from progressing with the nut house.  i don't like electricity in the rain....
maybe i can set up the chop saw in the shop and just take measurements
HA--- fat chance--
that would make a lot of firewood...

*******************
i should have told stacy about the tiffany story--- it BEARS REPEATING --- IT  is something we should all constantly remember--
tiffany was a great dog--- greater than bailey.. AND.....
****

tiff  was the first dane i ever purchased- a lovely thing--- without exageration over 100,000 people patted that dog-- loose at the topsfield fair-- boston city hall plaza 4th of July mess- loose in the crowd of thousands- with that fool brass bed...
too many jobs to list
we were at some kind of family farm day at the pru- in boston with about 30 animals- and she was wandering the crowd- per usual- all of a sudden she ran to me growling and turning to look at a very nice looking - polite 12 year old girl- i had to hold her as the kid touched her- she wanted to chase her off-maybe bite--
the kid left- tiffany went back to normal
for the next year- relaxed worked huge crowds comfortably
next year- the pru- same kid-same response-

so i have to remember that.
i could not trust any dog more than tiff- yet there was something about that one kid.

the only similar thing i have had with my bunch is one day they charged one of the volunteers with a bit too much enthusiasm and i flew to her rescue.
we went over everything- and the only thing we could come up with was--- she was an ms patient-- and her medications had been changed, she herself knew her "mouth tasted different on the new med..."

there  are things we just don't know.
SO WITH ALL OF THEM ... I SLIDE MY HAND NEXT TO THEIR JOWLS AND SMILE AS  THEY ARE PATTED BY STRANGERS.

jasper report--

from maria\
Hi There - The link for Chicken Bingo is on the front page of the website.  Notice I left out the Sh#t part :))  (I assume you don't want that on the front page).  Just send me the new link every month and I will change it.

Heidi - is doing well.  She is much much happier.  Tail is wagging again thank god!  She still shakes a little and she only yelped a few of times over the last few days but she is running around and eating/drinking again.  Her yelping just seems to be a warning that you are getting to close to her and being to rough.  Doxycyline seems to be doing the trick.

Hi Carlene!  I knew you would be looking for an update, but I wasn't at work Monday so no computer.  We LOVE Jasper - what a sweet, good-looking dog!  He seemed to enjoy the ride back to NH...jumped right into the Jeep and made himself at home.  Introductions to our other dogs went well also.  He has made friends with our English Bulldog Elwood...they ran all around our fenced-in backyard until poor Woody was begging for a break.  Quite a sight as Elwood kept running underneath Jasper's tummy!  Zoe, our Neopolitian Mastiff, is the queen at home and let Jasper know it...in a nice way.  I think they will be fine.  And poor Finnigan, our English Mastiff suffering from bone cancer, was frustrated that he couldn't play with his new brother.  Unfortunately, I don't think we will have him much longer.

Jasper was a bit timid, but managed to explore every inch of his new home and give it two paws up!  He had a healthy appetite, couldn't figure out the outside deck at first, claimed his new 5" foam bed as his own, figured out he could sleep on the big bed with Mom and Dad, thought the cats were way fun and hasn't had a single "accident".  All in all, a good couple of days.  It's funny - he is a few inches taller than the mastiffs and the perfect height for counter grazing.  Gotta' watch that!

Thanks again for trusting us to provide Jasper with a good home!
Stacey

PS:  Almost forgot poop report....first poop was flat as a pancake, second poop nicely formed.

Sept 05, 2011

pictures are forthcoming i am sure--

a lovely half hour  was spent suggesting to 3 hens which way they should face- as they walked around the numbered table-

a loud cheer went up as a nice clean drop was made onto square #13 labeled  "whitney"   - ( so the scientific scale was not needed to determine the winner )

no bonus egg was produced--

the best news is the purchase of the numbers has paid for September's dog food

$1335.00 will cover the food and some once a day vitamins for the month !!!!
i can not begin to tell you
but that never stopped me from trying.

altho the couple of people who bought many numbers is wonderful... it is the people who participated with  $10 and  $20 donations which are really a vote of confidence too.

this is a "we" project  big time- no way could i do it without all the volunteer support-
i must admit yesterday i mostly sat around and made monkey fists, ate corn and watched everyone else put it together.

who did what?
 i am glad you asked

theresa stepped in to rescue my computer just before i put a sledge hammer to it.
greg filled a 3' hole the pups dug in the fence line
bud1 boiled corn--- a whole bushel of terriffic corn
bud2 and gwen numbered the table
stacey brought puppy toys ( and took jasper to give him a home)
lori sat with bobby  who is now devoted to her.
megan found lost items
paul and earlene did invaluable stuff--  including serving individual meals to chaos' pups--  who are screaming constantly--- and i am afraid they are just hungry.

discussion was had about a video feed of next month's.

i hope we can continue this
and all of you who bought  numbers will find a friend to do likewise

as these pups grow i expect our food bill will grow with them.

i will "open" a new wall later today for the first Sunday in october.

it must still be  possible for you all to go out there and look over the larger  pictures OF LAST MONTHS    by clicking on them--
there are a couple things about this memsaic program i still have to figure out..
for our purposes it functioned  !!

i think the rest of the world uses it to create a wall of photo's --
they don't know about chickens..

HERE IS A REPORT ON HEIDI AND THE SCREAMING

WE HAVE SEEN THIS--- BAILEY HAD IT--- WHATEVER "IT" IS

Here is an update on Heidi and her screeching.

Took her to the Vet on Thursday.  They did a rapid Lyme and it was positive but she also tested positive for another tick born disease I can't pronounce let alone spell.  They then determined that she had progressed to a level of 38.  My vet said they usually start treating a dog at around 30 so he thinks that's why she was yelping before being touch.  They gave her doxycycline and a pain med injection.  Within and hour she perked up and was back to eating and drinking but come Friday she was back to not getting up, not eating or drinking and yelping.  I was persistent and literally pushed her pills down her throat.  She was the same yesterday, no eating or drinking and my other dogs were very sad that she would not join them for play time in the yard.  I woke up this morning prepare to call you and bring her back to the Vet and to my surprise she jumped up out of her bed tale wagging and happy as a clam.  Eating and drinking like crazy.  She is definitely making up for two days of no eating or drinking.  She has not yelped or screech at all today.  In fact she is looking over my shoulder as I type this message to you.

I will update you again tomorrow.

Maria ( and Heidi) :)

Sept 04, 2011

3:00 today will be our first - hopefully monthly ---sh#tting
the table has been located-- along with the dry erase markers-

and we will get a bushel of corn-

you have til 2:45 when i will shut down the memsaic board and put the numbers on the table-- in prep for the arrival of the judges and hens at 3:00--

we have made enough to buy the dog food-- and puppy food for a month

way to go !!!

first Sunday of every month--- lets see how that goes--- it is a huge help.
and the hens  have sh#T  to spare ....

i don't think our live camera crew has come forth with the capability of internetting the performance.. so i will email to the addreesses--- we will try for nest time-- live
**************************

hillary said chaos pups are  the noisiest we have ever had---
this is true-- also they are slightly gaunt--- could be they are hungry-- so today lets try a few more meals
and either today--- if there are enough people here this morning-- we could worm them again for roundworms--- or... because of the "rice" in on of olive's pups... maybe the "allwormer" from australia-- painful  as it is ... it is still cheaper than many here--- with the same chemical components.
***************

this is "bad year for fleas" is  verified by one of my favorite vets at georges--- who's name might be cristine-- and thankfully is not insulted by the fact i have known her for 10 years and can't remember her name.

the latest news on the groomer front -- colleen---is frontline is not being 100% effective-- i forgot what colleen suggested we try--- but i did find a flea on pink.  i do not think the place is infested--but i think we have to stay ahead of it--

i know  one lady flea equals 40000-
hopefully those all jump on the nearest dog and get obliterated with something--- dishwasher baths help if you can not find anything else--  i have experimented with a cup of water--- a drop of dish detergent- and many fleas.  i am happy to announce they can not swim.

today is a warm day--- wash a dog--  any dog

also-- on the topic of chemicals--- i don't think i have to repeat the fact that we have chemically free dead mice--  we use only snap traps---   which are then plastic bagged ( often with the trap if you stomach has trouble with it )  and placed in the guest house freezer.
they wait there for the frozen rodent delivery committee it transport them to george for him to feed owls and hawks he is rehabilitating.

i do not want any poisons  of that type on the property-- see yesterday tirade on murphy's law--  i have nightmares about someone deciding to use some chemical mouse eliminator-- as linda once did--

we have mice--- and rats--squirrels and thousands of chipmonks-- all healthy

healthy mice are not nearly the problem a chemically dead mouse could be.. if  a pup atethat dead mouse the chemical would then be in the dog.
****************
the building has one wall--- for practice--
because of the slope in the floor for drainage-- and the roof must be level--- each member of the wall will be slightly different legnth.

i now have to address the locations of the lofts  and the support of them ( down to the ground type small footing)

i am out of nails---  that could be a bad problem

 from vermont  we have----
Sorry not to have made a Mannie report.
We are all fine and cannot believe the wreckage only a short distance from our home. The locals have always told visitors that they can't get there from here, and now its true!

Life with a Great Dane continues providing entertainment. You said we should remember he is still a puppy. He is just delightful, very confident in meeting people when the assembly is a small group, doesn't like heavy trucks with engine braking, but then I don't either.

He gets a treat when he produces some result..he occasionally assumes the position but does nothing then looks expectantly,I look back ,wave the treat in such away that he gets the delicious fragrance, he looks resigned and resumes the position etc. I can see the wheels going round behind those innocent seeming eyes.He has a plan. I,ll tell you when it matures.

I have lost several articles of clothing since I started carrying  supplies of Hebrew National in my right hand trousers pocket I am almost sure that Mannie has something to do with it.
On the normality front:
The dishwasher died and we set of to buy a new one.The sign said"more or less" Great buy,one left reduced to and  indicated a figure 70% less. They said they would deliver it and so we went home and I wrestled the deceased outside to be collected.
This old house is always ready with a challenge. I contrived a method to enable us to  turn on the water  and fabricated the 3/8" pipe and connectors. This meant I would be able to connect up in minutes after the dishwasher arrived very early the next morning.
I don't have write the ending thus saving you valuable time.
Another win for this old house, the manufacturers of the dishwasher and the delivery mafia.
pick one for each category
Fittings as used by manufacturer changed 20 years ago, value engineered, not supplied and I had to buy new ones.
The delivery arrived around 4:00pm.
When we turned on the water the system refused to deliver hot water.
All the above dealt with by a lovely man called Richard.I am officially retried or ,if you like retired.
Best Wishes
Mannie ,Violet Bernard
ps the dishwasher is GREAT

these house pups---- are getting trained... big time.

are doing really well with  individual name calling--  i was shocked today to find bentley knew the term "WAIT"  as he hooked his head gear on the knob of my desk and screamed HELP- it took me 3 seconds to scale the barrier and get there ---- I  yelled "bently  WAIT"  and he did,

they are learning "AWAY"  which is the command for--- "do not step in that and wipe it on my leg"
they also know "BACK"  which is the command for "look out here comes pistol thru the door and she will flatten you."
and  thanks to assistant dog trainer bailey,  "LEAVE IT" means  "do not play with  a sleeping dog's tail."

these dogs are better  trained than most  at 12 weeks !!
************************
pi already knows "DO NOT MAKE THAT PUPPY YELL"  IF IT HAPPENS SHE LETS GO AND LOOKS AT ME  GUILTY LIKE.
OTHER THAN THAT SHE IS A FAIR DECIENT BIG SISTER"
**************
next to finishing this building (first headder went up yesterday).. the next is too heavy for me to pick  up

looks a little odd because i have not set the final post-- so have not even started the last 10 feet-

seeing as this is a learning experience... it is a good plan... creative carpentry you know....

the barn/hay loft is on 24"centers with 1/2 " plywood--
the hay loft is 30 years old and slightly 'bouncy' but has been no problem.
but i think that last 10' i will go back to 16"centers meaning we will have a puppy end and a fat dog end to this building --i did put a lot of cross members in the "feed room area" for any human  who might want to jump rope in there-

and ---THIS IS A BIG TIME HELP REQUEST---
i know i am not putting in enough nails---  i get tired-
i am hoping volunteers will show up with hammers and add nails
i think the "blue man group" said they would be here Sunday (that is the family with the blue stud dog--- good name for them)---

BYO  hammers---
***********************

now for  the  daily stool report..
you know you have a problem when you can HEAR them moving their bowels.

IT IS INCREDIBLE WHAT THEY CAN PRODUCE
i swear we do not feed them as much as i pick up every morning.
to be scientifically accurate---that is probably true-- take dry food--- add water and it increases in size.

i know one of our problems for which there is no solution-- is the pond-
i think it is an accurate statement that all the ground water in new england is contaminated with giardia thanks to the canadian geese  -
i am pretty sure i have read that in more places than that marvelous source of fiction... the  internet.
giardia  = flagyl as a cure-- but until they go live in a real house  they can be re- infected as they quench their thirst in that flowing pond/stream.

there is a problem for which we havc a cure--- the overflowing laundry dry well-
i did carve a path for it to flow down hill-  and it contains only laundry water-- with corresponding soaps-
we should-- boy would this be a mess-- put that path underground and have a second drywell underneath where the dog-trailer is.  that is the only place left where there are no underground wires..

more puppies = more laundry=  a detail sometimes missing in these grants we write.
*********************

i hope some of it is the fact that  a couple  are on antibiotics-  megan/hillary  lets get on some acidopilous pills which are around somewhere

there are 2 to watch  -- taupe  and olive's merle..  hazel

hazel is looking a little thin-- megan said she would not eat yesterday until she flavored it with some goats milk-- at which point she wolfed it down.

something weird there--- also time to worm again...

lts try and stay away from the milk-- there is chicken broth and then the parm cheese as enhancers.
*******************
and then the gagging report--

early morning gag producing a small quantity of yellow  slippery foam

a lot of our dogs can not deal with an empty stomach-- at the moment it is opal-- this is the 3rd morning i hav had to give her a handful of something  to tie her over til breakfast.  this is a common thing.
i have a   6am morning routine with the adult dogs--- out to pee-- come in  have a milkbone and no one gags

problem there is --- it becomes "if i ask to go out, then stand there for 5 seconds and ask to  come in, i get a milk bone"  this is a huge problem at 2am.... and thru the rest of the day.
**************

Sunday stew will involve the chicken bingo sh#tting step up--- so we have to dig out all that paraphnalia for the 3:00 performance--- i will have to email  the results as soon as they appear  unless someone gets a camera going.

and because this is a holiday weekend  and there are people looking for entertainment on monday--- we will be stewing on Monday too

especially  the pot luck kind.

the wAY THAT POT LUCK WORKS IS-- PEOPLE BRING ALOT OF FOOD ON SUNDAY AND THE VOLUNTEERS  EAT LEFTOVERS  FOR LUNCH THE REST OF THE WEEK
******************

now to give george his equal opportunity response

Funny how the conversation with Carlene that I had about pink is nothing like the one in the doggie daily!
A woman who is hard of hearing obviously hear's as she likes. ;-))))
She is a rare one!
G
*****
so now we have a problem with george thinking he remembers something i did not hear..
i am older - so slightly more vulernable to this concept--
he certainly did say a bunch of things-- but since i questioned his origional premise that an error of mixed up blood samples could not be made--- i didn't go any further.

there are an infinite ways to make an error

infinite--- as in    1/0  ---   one divided by zero

 Back to the dogs
this latest report from karen and didi--

keep in mind some of my best dogs were "trained" by an appearance at the topsfield fair--  with that crazy bed...
they got used to everything.
*******************************************
Hello to everyone from the NY fingerlakes.
We enjoyed a trip to the NY State fair this week. It was a beautiful day and very busy. We enjoyed all the demonstrations in the commercial and horticulture buildings, although it took us hours to get through each building due to the large numbers of interest in DiDi and wanting to pet her (more adults than children by a small percentage). Often we would find ourselves surrounded by 5 to 10 people looking on, petting her, and asking questions. We even had one lady who followed us through several buildings looking for an opportunity to talk to us and meet DiDi. We felt like we were a fair display with all of the attention, but were able to do a lot of educating the public on Danes as service dogs, service dog etiquette, balance issues, the Dane breed, and SDP.
I was amazed to meet several people who have relatives who have Dane service dogs for MS, as well as a gentleman who's mother has a Mastiff as a service dog (I didn't know Mastiffs are used as service dogs, but think Danes are a better choice and much more elegant).
We also watched the last part of the fair parade of emergency vehicles and several bands. DiDi was not impressed with the emergency vehicles with their flashing lights (fire trucks and ambulances), but when they started their sirens and horns, she let me know that this was unacceptable. We had several short discussions and she stood quietly watching, albeit some shaking as she leaned against me. She recovered quickly and on we went to the food court. She was a real trooper, greeting everyone as a professional even though she got tired of the crowds petting her; she was the ultimate poster child for service dogs.
I think her favorite part of the fair was the fresh mint chocolate chip ice cream, hot dog, and resting on the lawn watching the public intermingling with the "meet and greet" police basset hounds. She was quite unfazed by most of the activities, although she was confused as to why we would want to walk through a cow barn and was particularly offended when offered a drink from a water bucket.
She willo be meeting the district faculty members on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the students on Thursday. I expect everything to go well but will be interested to see if she has any opinions on the student population once the halls are busy. Have a great week,
Karen & DiDi

THAT TIMID DANE RELYING ON HER PARTNER IS A WONDERFUL  THING

PINK-- WHO WAS NOT FEELING WELL--IS NOW FEELING PERFECTLY FINE- LIVING IN HTE HOUSE SO I CAN KEEPP TRACK OF HER-(4 PUPS--- 5 ADUL.TS... BUT WHO IS COUNTING?)

PROBLEM BEING GEORGE SAYS HER WHITE BLOOD COUNT WAS OFF THE CHARTS---- SHE IS THE HEALTHIEST SICK DOG I EVER SAW

I SUGGESTED THE IDEXX COMPANY WHICH DOES HIS BLOODWORK- MADE AN ERROR AND MIXED UP SAMP;ES
CAUSING GEORGE TO SAY "IMPOSSIBLE-- WOULD NEVER HAPPEN"

IT IS ONE OF THE FEW TIMES I HAVE HEARD GEORGE BE ABSOLUTELY WRONG.

REMEMBER I HAVE A PHD IN MURPHY'S LAW-- "WHAT COULD NEVER HAPPEN  WILL.."

SO HE PUT HER ON AMOX ALSO--
IF HER GUT WASN'T SCREWED UP BEFORE IT WILL BE WITH AMOX..

I AM NOT AT ALL HAPPY WITH THAT Dx  I WISH TOM STILL HAD A BLOOD LAB I WOULD RETEST IT..
****************
ALONG HEALTH LINES-- THE AMBU IS GETTING REFITTED AS THE INTENSIVE CARE--- ISOLATED UNIT--REMEMBER IT HAS ALL KINDS OF FLOOD LIGHTS, A PA SYSTEM, AND AN INVERTER WHICH WOULD RUN A FURNACE IF WE LOOSE ELECTRICITY.
*********************

I AM CONCERNED FOR BERNARD AND MANNY--- COULD BE THEY HAVE NO ELECTRICITY TOO ( VERMONT)
**********************

AMID BUILDING CONSTRUCTION I NEED TO PAY SOME ATTENTION TO PRINCESS PI-- SHE IS ONE SPOILED BRAT..  THAT WILL NEVER DO--

NO CUT AND PASTE

INTERESTING OBSERVATION OF THE DAY

BOTH PINK AND OPAL ARE JUMPING THE 18" BARRIER-- HOOK FRONT LEGS-- CATCH BELLY AND DRAG BACK LEGS.

INTERESTING THAT BOTH FEMALES WILL DO THIS
AND THE MALES JUST WATCH.

IS IT CLEVER FEMALES ?  OR  MALE ANATOMY  THAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE.

WE ARE UNDER CONTROL--- WITH GREAT EFFORT   KAREN-- LORI-- AND JACKIE STAGGERED OUT OF HERE IN VARIOUS STATES OF DISARRAY.

LORI WAS SHELL SHOCKED BY HER FIRST BOBBY/JASPER  NOISY DISAGREEMENT-- WHICH BROKE  UP WITH NO SPURTING BLOOD- WHICH TO THOSE OF US WHO HAVE SEEN A FEW OF THESE  PROBLEMS.. IT MUST NOT HAVE BEEN ALL THAT BAD-- I WAS NOT HERE...  BOTH DOGS ARE LOVERS NOT FIGHTERS--
IT IS JUST A TESTICLE THING.
ASIDE FROM MARGARET THATCHER- WEREN'T ALL WARS DECLARED BY MEN?
****************
JUST TO COMPLETE THE STOOL REPORT OF THE DAY--
I DID NOT START COUNTING TIL I WAS 1/2 DONE PICKING UP THE DECK  --- AND THE COUNT WAS 28--  I.E.  56 FOR 13 PUPS

SOME ALLOWANCE MUST BE MADE FOR THE  WALKENPOOPERS AND THEIR MULTIPLE PILES.

**************
BUT ON A SERIOUS NOTE  ONE HAD 2 PIECES OF RICE..
BAD THING-- TIME TO WORM AGAIN.
RICE CALLS FOR  THE MORE EXPENSIVE WORMER TOO.

******************
AND THEN THERE IS YELLOW-- STANDING VERY QUIETLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE KITCHEN ALL HUNCHED OVER-- LOOKING MISERABLE-- I RAN-- THINKING TERRIBLE THINGS LIKE BLOAT- CERVICAL INJURY ETC.
HIS FRONT PAW WAS STUCK IN HIS COLLAR-- I UNDID IT AND HE SKITTERED AROUND THANKING ME.

OPAL WOULD HAVE BEEN SCREECHING.

HIS ATTITUDE WAS "HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?" .....   GOOD DOG.

I AM HAPPY TO REPORT A PIECE OF PLYWOOD FITS ON THE FLOOR SUPPORTS IN THE NEW NUT HOUSE.

THIS IS A VERY SIGNIFICANT STEP--- SEEING AS THE FLOOR IS TIPPED 2 WAYS.
MY GOAL IS TO TURN THE HOSE ON AT ONE SIDE AND HAVE IT DRAIN INTO THE FAR CORNER IN THE "A" FIELD.

TODAY'S SCHEDULE????
I DUNNO

BUT JACKIE IS WORKING ON  WENHAM COA( THAT GAVE US THE VAN) EITHER US STOPPENG THERE AT RANDOM - OR THEM COMING HERE.

Sept 01, 2011

GOOD MORNING
NOW FOR THE POOP CONSISTANCY REPORT

THE PUP'S ARE ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL  2 PIECES OF CARDBOARD WILL PICK UP 3 DEPOSITS.

WITH AN ADDED BONUS OF THE "SICK" PUP WHO MANAGED TO ELIMINATE  WHATEVER SHE ATE IN A FAIRLY TIDY PUDDLE.
THAT COULD HAVE BEEN ALOT WORSE...
*****
SHE IS 100% NOW... BUT...
I SENT THIS OUT 7PM LAST NIGHT TO THE PEOPLE WHO WERE DEALING WITH THE LETHARGIC "PINK"
*************
not sick as in ill-- just doesn't feel good--

no temp etc but not right-- so karen and i took her to georges
he was not there- but one of the vets i like was and we dealt-

did exam- nothing
no temp
so an xray revealed -- probably some string of foreign material-- like sand/pebbles/ a chewed up bone  etc

dehydrated
a belly ache was assumed

so she put her on fluids--300cc lump and sent the rest home with us.

she started drinking when jackie was here
and has continued to drink a considerable amount-

she is just wandering the living room/office-

no bowel movement ( we are expecting/ hoping for  projectile

and she did eat 1/4 can of food-- by spoon--

so she is looking better-- but not 100% yet -- maybe 50%

that was last night-- she is 100%now  and playing very actively with the 3 house pups ( with the hats)-- and is typically starving...
*******************
on the topic of illness-
maria called- this is a thing i have seen before- but can not remember the outcome/or remedy?? GEORGE??

her dane has taken to screaming-- as in pain- and running from the room if someone approaches--- even someone she knows.-- maria has poked and prodded her entire body and can not get any response.

moves fine-- eating drinking etc...OTHERWISE NORMAL

i have seen this before
when it happened the first time we assumed cervical or some strange shingles---- and because it was so severe we put the pup down-

and then it happened to bailey-  and we paid a little more attention.-
i think we put her on doxy  for lack of anything else to do---and in a few days she had stopped screaming  making us think it was lyme.

it has happened to one or two more-  the seemingly unprovoked scream-

??george???  any input???
**************************

NOW.... TODAY...
i can not imagine after many ours of plane and car travel there will be much left of megan-- so anyone who could give a hand today again -- she would probably appreciate it.
******
and maybe i can get  the floor on the new nut house done.

that is a really ambitious goal -- so maybe not the whole thing today.
/**********
appleton farms office called about borrowing mary for their farm day--i responded by email suggesting that they swap a considerable amt of veggies to give to our volunteers who have been giving mary carrots the other 51 sundays in a year.
****************

go      and buy a brick for our chicken sh#t next sunday--

because megan got stuck in california-- and bud2 is wandering around having a good time with indy-- we may not have a live camera  sh#tting-- but we certainaly can send out a bulk email to everyone with the winning number..-  i practiced that  bulk email technique this morning ---

with not all the numbers sold  the odds are even more favorable to win the $500-  we have made almost enough money to pay for septembers dog food bill.

you have no idea how wonderful that would be to be able to do that !!!!

go tell more friends---

and keep that cut up cardboard coming

vegtables-- will be the odd topic today

more specifically  - Appleton farms--supposed to be the oldest working farm in the US -- across the street from Groton House- which is the Winthrop place-- as in (governor winthrop who invented Massachusetts )  both - are not measured in acres- i know the  winthrop place is 1.25 miles long on two sides.  appleton is directily across from NE BIOLABS to which we needed to go to yestereday

trustees of the reservations has taken over appleton-- and they have some deal where you "join"  and then get a bag of  fresh organic produce weekly.  actually i do not know the exact details-  but we(anne  and i) picked up a flyer which told of picking up the 40 pounds of winter vegtables - organic cranberries and goat cheese.
it must be a good deal - because there is a 5 year waiting list to "join".

BUT ---- it also told of their family farm day September 18th  10-3 with 2000 visitors-- these are not ye old generic visitors  but those people who can spend  $80 on 40 pounds of turnips--
and the highlight of their farm day is our own  MARY-- they have borrowed her for years-
mary is worth her weight in gold-- but is she worth her weight in turnips ?
--  plus just how much fundraising would they allow us to do--.

and i know most of the "they"
why shouldn't our volunteers get the benefit of 750 pounds of winter root veggies   in exchange for MARY--- i bet we have fed her nearly that in carrots every Sunday.

that is where i am going with this.
*****************
all that because we had to deliver the grant request  to n.e.biolabs.
keith----
as we walked into ne biolabs a guy came and talked to us about a friend in a wheelchair who had a  service dog like pistol--  of course- keith -- that was hudson--
so now   please---get hold of him and have him put a word in for us to get a grant.
*******************
and the real mission  was to go for a train ride with pistol and see how she responded----
we usually go a couple stops then get off and on the next train back. simple trip
except we had not printed a schedule.

as we parked there was a train coming---
we got on  the first train in the station - only to find at that time of day the quickest turn around was in boston..
so we did that.  pistol was good-- hinging on great-  you don't want a dog so numb that they have no reaction..
on the way back she entertained everyone by sitting on the seat with anne-  many pictures were taken--

we also discovered that by saying --- with great authority---" we are never charged because we are training service dogs"
we got away with it--- good thing too -- or we would still be in boston because neither of us had enough money for tickets.
and it is relativly true-  i have never paid once i discovered i could pull that.
***************
the trick with train riding  is when you get off-- don't let them look down- because those steps are the see thru kind.  getting on is no problem-- they can't see them.

there is a horse jumping expression " throw your heart over the fence and the horse will follow"
there is a lot of that in service dog training.
 just walk on.
*****************

also   an FYI about wet vac performance

the wet vac does pick up puppy pee really well-- and dumps 98% in it's lovely stainless steel tub.
the other 2% is aerated and blown  all over in a manner no fabreeze will attempt to cover

so we are back to turkish towels pre-rinsed over the nearest fence.
************************
got to get the nut house done--- it has to be living room comfortable   with minimal spiders and other creepy things.
i want to do the walls in white  polymax

which will be expensive ($700)   but those 2 words "indestructable and washable" are a luxury i think we can afford

especially since i have the floor so tipped if it freezes we maY HAVE TO SAND IT

IF I HAD MY WAY I  WOULD HAVE STIPULATED THIS HOUSE BE BUILT  TIPPED TOWARD A DRAIN---

TODAY SCHEDULE?
PRAY MEGAN  GETS ON THAT FLIGHT- EVEN IF IT DOES LAND IN PROVIDENCE

NO MEGAN YET-- THANKS TO IRENE
SHE EMAILED AND THEY HOPE TO GET ON A PLANE ON WEDNESDAY LANDING IN PROVIDENCE??

FORTUNTELY SHE IS AIRLINE ASTUTE
ALSO SHE HAS CONTACTED COVERAGE SO I AM NOT TOTALLY PANICED

DARN CLOSE THO
***
IRENE-
IT IS VERY EASY TO DISMISS IT AS A BAD RAINSTORM IN OUR AREA-- EXCEPT THAT IT DID KNOCK DOWN 2 HUGE TREES--
FORTUNATELY THEY FELL WELL.. AND WILL BE NEXT YEAR'S FIREWOOD.

IT WAS NOT ALL IRENE--
BUT ANTS-

BOTH TREES WERE LOADED -
*****************
BY HAVEING PUPS IN THE HOUSE ALL DAY THEY GOT ATTENTION--THO TODAY WE SHOULD CONCENTRATE ON OLIVE'S BUNCH MORE

BLESS THAT $32 SS WET VAC FROM COSTCO--
IT IS PEE PUDDLE PERFECT.

AND THEY ALL NEED THE  EXERCISE ON SPOONFULL OF CANNED WITHTHE NAME CALLING

*****************
SPEAKING OF SPOONS  SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE  PROCESS
BOTH BAILEY AND CHAOS ARE REFUSING TO EAT OFF A SPOON-
TO HAVE ONE DANE "GO WIERD"  IS PERFECTLY  NORMAL.  TO HAVE 2 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM IS  US- NOT THEM.
***************
I AM TRUSTING MEGAN- FROM A 3500 MILES AWAY HAS COVERGE LINED UP --  BUT IFR ANYONE HAS TIME--- THE DOGS DEFINITEELY NEED PERSONAL ONE ON ONE TIME---AND THEY NEVER CAN GET ENOUGH OF THAT..
**********
I NEED TO GET AT MY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT-- MINUS THE 2
"STALLS" IN THE NUT HOUSE IS BAD-- AND WITH THE EXPANSION I NEED THE 4 NEW ONES BEFORE SOME DARN FOOL THINKS I HAVE TOO MANY IN THE  HOUSE

SCHEDULE-- TODAY ?
YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING.

STAYING POSITIVE-- FOR CONCEPT----
WHEN LIFE SENDS YOU LEMONS- MAKE LEMONAIDE
MEANING.......TODAY IS THE DAY TO MAKE FIREWOOD????

FIRSTLY MY APPOLOGIES TO MOLLY FOR QUESTIONING THE QUANTITY SHE FED THE DOGS-- WHAT THE HECK--- THE FACT THEY GOT FED AT ALL WAS THANKS TO HER STAMINA.
IT WAS A ROUGH DAY
******************

I AM READY
6AM FLOORS WASHED
HOUSE PUPS/DOGS FED AND EMPTYIED

NOT ON PURPOSE... BUT IT HAPPENED AMID CONFUSION

IS THAT PUDDLE A LEAKING ROOF OR DOG?
 ADD SOAP AND VACUUM
THAT EXTRA DOG FOOD I ASKED MIKE TO PPUT NEXT TOTH EDOOG FOR THE CHICKENS???-- ONE OF MY MORE SPECTACULARLY STUPID IDEAS I HAD

ALL TH E DOGS SNACKED ALL NIGHT  AND THE PUPS WOLFED DOWN WHATEVER THEY REQUIRED-- AND THE BUCKET IS NOT EMPTY YET-- POINTING OUT HOW STUPID IT WAS OF ME TO QUESTION QUANTITIES..
MAYBE IT WAS A BRILLIANT DISCOVERY

GIVING ME SERIOUS THOUGHTS ABOUT THE WAY I USED TO FEED MY COLLECTION OF MUTTS IN LYNNFIELD- SET A 50# BAG IN A WASHTUB AND SLIT THE CORNER..  I FED EVERY BARNYARD CHICKEN  -- SQUIRREL AND RAT-- BUT IT WAS SIMPLE  AND EVERYONE WAS HEALTHY-
INCLUDING THAT RIDGEBACK DANE MUTT WHO WENT 20 MILES A DAY WITH JANINE AND HER PONY- DIED AT 16 -WITH THE ADDITION OF ONLY RABIES SHOTS. NO HEARTWORM NO FRONTLINE, NO VACCINES, NO ANTIBIOTICS

?RIDGEBACK DANE?? HMMMMM

AND ORGANIZATIONALLY-- THIS BIT ABOUT "BANDS OF HEAVY SHGOWERS" IN THIS STORM.... THOSE ARE PROVICED TO US BY WHATEVER GODS THERE MAY BE  SO THAT WE CAN FORCE THE DOGS OUT TO PEE- HEAVEN KNOWS NO DANE I KNOW OF WILL GO OUT IN A MILD  SHOWER..... A DOWNPOUR??- YOU ARE DAFT.

BUT TAT CONCEPT OF FEEDING TOO MANY DOGS AT ONCE MAY EXPLAIN LUNA'S PREGNANT LOOKING BELLY.
  SHE IS DOMINANT

LIKE THE ONE PILE OF HAY IN THE PASTURE WITH THAT FAT BLACK AND WHITE PONY IN THE MIDDLE SURROUNDED BY THIN RESCUES LOOKING LONGINGLY..

(5 HORSES NEED 6 PILES OF HAY)  ANIMAL MANAGEMENT LESSON OF THE DAY.

THEN I WORRIEDABOUT THE 2 BUNCHES OF PUPS ON THE DECK-- THIER WATER WAS NOT UNDER THE OVERHANG--- AND IF THEY WOULD NOT GO OUT TO PEE MY GUESS IS THEIR THIRST WOULDN'T ET THEM THERE EITHER.   NOT WANTING TO GO OUT EITHER-- I JUST ADDED MORE WATER PAILS.  IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO FIGURE OUT THAT LOGIC

SHAUNESSY BUNCH GOT ME SOME FOREARM CRUTCHES TO PLAY WITH AND TRAIN THE DOGS.

I LOVED THE IMAGE BUD GAVE US YESTERDAY OF FINDING COMFORT IN A 140 POUND GREAT DANE SITTING ON HIS LAP WHILE THEY BOTH GET OVER  SOME ANNOYANCE.

YOU HAVE TO HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR TO HAVE A DANE.

IT IS RAINING.

I STOCKED UP WITH A BUNCH OF DOG FOOD, BOTTLED WATER AND ONE LOAF OF BREAD.

IT IS LIKE THE GUY WHO JUMPED OFF THE ROOF AND SAID "NO PROBLEM SO FAR"

IT BEARS WATCHING ME TODAY

EVEN BEFORE I MADE COFFEE I COMMITTED THE ULTIMATE IN STUPIDITY  THUS REAFFIRMING THE PUPPY TRUE-ISM.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SPREAD NEWSPAPERS UNDER A HAPPY PUPPY..
********************
WITH ONE EYE ON  IRENE...

TODAY WILL BE BUSY--- AND I THINK PAUL,K3, AND ANNE WILL BE DOING THE PUPPY SHUFFLE TO GEORGES.

MIKE AND ROBBIE MIGHT BOTH BE HERE  AND BEST JOB FOR THEM-AFTER WEARING OUT THE PUPS-- WOULD BE FOR ONE TO DRIVE THE TRACTOR WHILE THE OTHER COLLECTS WHAT COULD BECOME FLYING DEBRIE IN THE WIND.--- STARTING WITHT HE  OLD DOG HOUSES DOWN BY THE  TEEPEE--AND ANYTHING ELSE WE COULD GET IN THE  DUMPSTER.

I AM DELIGHTED TO HEAR WE MAY ONLY HAVE A TROPICAL STORM RATED DAY AHEAD-  THE PART THAT WORRIES ME IS WE ARE ON THE WINDY ( EASTERN )SIDE .
THE WEST SIDE RAIN I COULD DEAL WITH--- YOU MOP IT UP AND GO ON... BUT THESE TREES--- MY ONLY HOPE IS THAT TO GET THAT BIG THEY HAVE TO BE HUNDREDS OF YEARS OLD--- AND THEY MIGHT HAVE BEEN THRU THIS BEFORE.

CLEARSPAN-- THE COMPANY FROM WHICH I BOUGHT THIS ARENA HAS BEEN WONDERFUL TO DEAL WITH-- I CALLED THEM WITH THE OPEN/SHUT DOOR QUESTION--- AND A VERY PLEASENT WOMAN  SAID THE ONLY REAL SOLUTION WAS TO MOVE TO IOWA-- PERSONALLY SHE FAVORS THE OPEN DOOR- BUT AT THE 90 MPH PROJECTED THAT WOULDN'T WORK EITHER.
THEN SHE SAID "WHATEVER HAPPENS WE WILL WORK WITH YOU TO GET YOU BACK TO  NORMAL"

LOOKS LIKE WE WILL BE SUNDAY  STEWING IN ONLY A TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR..

ONLY... !

RUNNING---
