NAAN. IS MY LATEST INSPIRATION.. 2021 3 9 I am double shotted with Pfizer and I know I'm supposed to wait two weeks for all that to cook in me---- but I decided the lure of the bread and butter Pickles and a sandwich at cressy market was more than I could stand so I've masked up and stayed away from everybody and went and bought a sandwich some bread butter Pickles .. and just to prove I'm totally insane I bought the makings of naan... I generally get these ideas in the morning ,, then I try and put together the details around noon and by afternoon I'm too tired and I forget it ------I have a lot of projects like that around here but every once in awhile one gets done ... I'm still waiting for some young people who can bend over to continue with the footprint deal . ----..although wait a minute ... the other news of the day is Paula is in heat and coming here .. and my 2 courageous volunteers jen and chuck....who had Bentley last time when we bred reese. offered to take him again so maybe I will send him with rolls of paper amd stamp pads. - well.. no / I better not.. they might not appreciate the paw prints as I do...they did say Bentley was a perfect guest... and he behaved perfectly wherever they went.... I would hope so... he is a spectacularly good dog...and perfectly comfortable with nearly everyone. There are no absolutes when it comes to animal behavoir.... welllll... given his creature comforts he will nap anywhere... So back TO MY NAAN PROJECT.....-- THERE AE A LOT OF FLATBREADS... THERE IS A SIMPLE 3 INGREDIENT ONE... FLOUR,A BIT OF SALT, AND OLIVE OIL.. WHY IT PUFFS UP AND COLLAPSES I DO NOT KNOW... ---aside from letting it rest for 15 minutes basically there is no yeast and no oven... Mash it flat put it in a frying pan flip it over and it's done and is tremendously uncomplicated except maybe in my case where my hands are usually ever clean enough to mess about with bread dough and the counters would have to be totally clear of dog hair which is not always the case without great preparation That simple 3 ingredient flatbread does work----, but -----you can jazz it up just a little spoonful of yogurt and a little bit of yeast as long as you add a tiny bit of sugar to make the yeast work gives you a slightly more interesting flatbread more closely approximating NAAN... And though there are a few times when you have to “let it rest “ in this case it's because of the yeast and YOU run into expressions like “double in size “.. it still is PRETTY SIMPLE BREAD WITH no oven -------flatten it out put it in a frying pan and flip it over and you have bread ... nAAN bread . SO IN MY FIRST STORE TRIP IN A YEAR .. I found the fleischmanns yeast , a tiny container of yogurt I wanted unbleached flour but couldn't find it so I bought white flour I've got olive oil and eggs and all that's in the kitchen .. so maybe today I will find rubber gloves and a couple bowls .. in a frypan and see if I can't pull off this NAAN. episode . ---- there is a board meeting tonight at 6:00 o'clock zone which will be good practice for me because my next zoom meeting will be the court case with the chief of police regarding the dogs .. I certainly do hope my lawyer will attend this with me as it really is kind of critical I think I'm all set with statistics unless they just take the opinion you just can't .. my statistics show and I have over a year of them thanks to Lynn who studied the overnight outside and noise .. that basically dogs will come out to move their bowels bark once or twice and go back in .. however if you have owls mink Fisher Cats or people yelling at each other.... flying or wandering about they may bark and respond to those --------and living next to hundreds of acres of forests I don't know what we can do about that it never has been a problem and I moved in here in 1979 .. and have had all sorts of farm animals and dogs ever since in great numbers .. at one point I did have 150 animals on this property .. and right now the number is somewhere between 50 and 100 dogs plus a dozen or so horses and donkeys and a collection of chickens to which the general public has added four Roosters .. and when that property was sold next door I immediately put up 3 signs would say this is a farm with various sites sounds smells and outdoor sex .... all of which are sometimes a shock to people coming out of an apartment where they don't think taxi cabs ...subways and police sirens are noisy at all . Probably one reason penthouse apartments are preferred because you can't hear as much streetnoise .. distance is distance horizontal or vertical ... at great expense I have tried to accommodate these new neighbors .. where we once had overnight people only for the first three weeks when puppies were born we now have them 365 days a year .. now if you even apply a minimum wage for people to sit around here and Pat puppies and deal with any dogs that continue to bark which is about once every month or so that 12 hours cost us a lot of money .. I have tried to accommodate .. but you know I see the grin on the face of these kids who are out in the Woods and some path or another hanging on to a dog instead of sitting in a room in a wheelchair and it's gotta be worth a good fight .. and being a charity ... I also moved my perimeter fence in to provide a path so my current neighbors would have access to the state forest trails when they started the development of houses next door .. so now if people want to walk their dogs early morning out on that path which they do on occasion . ---- I have a great cut and paste about Gretel getting her owner out of the house and into the Woods ---there were many photos attached to this then unfortunately I have never learned to duplicate but there's a kid was in a wheelchair and not able to get out weather is no four pause drive helper ... we've got a lot of stories like that from Erica and Asher in the wild of New York City or. Heide and RIZ making it downstairs in the Department of Agriculture during some threat or another to DC. By last count 4R ADI census we have 140 dogs out actively participating in allowing some people some degree of independence which they would not have without their service dog now to pick up one loose end here R website does say we give preference to veterans and their families and we certainly do but we've also expanded that to be first responders teachers another people who help support their community somehow .. this is how we have started having more than a few children ... who are younger that I originally thought could deal with this but Bella has done such a fantastic job with George that we have donated Finn to Eva who's the daughter of a firefighter in some godforsaken country up there by the Arctic Circle it seems ----maybe it's called wiscconsin --- don't know .. but this latest bit below is a kid who is doing really well from New Jersey who is also living South of the Hudson River which was also one place I said I would not go past ..so all of a service dog project is a whole bunch of. except for’s because every time we make a rule it's almost immediately broken such is life Hello SDP, The Stager Family reached our limits of doing nothing and finally caved to spend some time out of the house. We were going to take Connor skiing, but the quarantine rules in Vermont and NJ shifted a few days before the trip. This made us pivot and instead of Gretl lounging in the lodge while Connor went with the adaptative ski program, Gretl was able to join almost all of the fun (excluding a brief attempt at skating where Connor continues to show increased strength and some pool time where Gretl lounged pool side). We consider this to be the hardest work for Gretl and Connor to date as they went from partial schooling / gaming to outdoor activity. With the chaos in our house, we had to leave the resort shortly after arriving to pick up some dog bowls and some clothes for Connor as we managed to leave the bowls on the counter and grabbed Gavin’s bag (who went skiing with a friend) instead of Connor’s bag when we left the house. Travel with the Stager’s is always an adventure. Connor was able to join us on our two hikes, which would not have happened without Gretl. She did a great job and was the hit of the resort. All of the staff in the restaurant wanted to be with us, which is funny since all she did was act like a perfect lady and sleep while we were at the table. Our days consisted of hiking followed up with sitting at the fire and games (and too much food). Gretl made only three noises during our long week. Twice when kids went running down the hall outside of our room and once when housekeeping opened the door while we were still in the room. Housekeeping quickly left after one vocal response from Gretl (I think the person needed a quick change after that experience 😊). I added some pictures to our website for anyone that would like to see Gretl with us and a very brief (11 seconds) video clip of Connor and Gretl in hike mode. Thank you for making this possible!
