A huge relief. ... sold out...  8 years.... and counting.... 100% sold out every month since 2013--- of course. Charlie and our wonderful cameras are instrumental..  and charlie likes numbers.. so we should  all make considerable effort to get other people watching , not only our cameras. But... in one nursing home, I set their smart TV on to the camera in Australia so that the reef looks very much like an aquarium and the staff there comemmed how wonderful it was they didn't have to change the water but there are hundreds of cameras all over the world------ there are bound to be some that everybody would find more interesting then the news ..  and these smart TV's will be smart with a little help---- so if you can find some 12 year old kid figure it out it's a wonderful thing to do for people who are housebound for COV or anything else---- my personal favorite are the pandas who are always  falling out of the trees .

I am told by them as knows...  there are a lot of people who at work have a split screen with the dogs on one side and their job on the other .. So it would be a great thing for all of you who already watched the cameras to try and get three or four more people each addicted so at least one camera ..  there are the bird watching egg hatching crew ..  the Brown bears catching salmon at the falls is another goodie ..  then there's the African collection of giraffes and elephants ..  there's a kitten rescue .. and an old dog rescue ... and us .

for our part I'm going to try and get people  here to  really concentrate on what is before the cameras they/ we have enough dogs they should never be  devoid of entertainment .
to that end I am right now going to try the paw print episode hopefully

so if anyone is managing these cameras ..if they would swing that house camera to the mail club position you should see me struggling with Bentley and papers and ink pads and things like that at least for a trial. ...

.. I'm going to have trouble with bending.... in this paw print project but I'm going to have a go at it
----
pride goeth before a fall ...  don't tempt fate and stuff like that .. but I am really happy with a lot of dogs we have out but most currently Josh and Daisy ... and Charlotte's having a pretty good time with  Cosmo...

Those walkers----- you had some..  get outta here..... germany's looking for cookies.... I can't even whisper this thing picks it up ...

Back to walkers that are so quickly prescribed by doctors and do serve a very good purpose and getting kids up on their feet but to have them move forward with them there's an incredible lift and shove as they pick it up and move it forward .. the dog makes a huge difference in that whole operation and where we once should we give preference to veterans and their families which we certainly do we started noticing that a couple of the kids who were veterans kids did very well with the dogs so that I'm thinking we should really keep our eyes open for the bombproof  dog and try and make sure it goes with a young kid .. although the kid must be able to take care of the dog 100%

We get a lot of inquiries from the web and I'm going to change my position on young children because there are some kids who could manage a dog whose parents would allow them to manage a dog and they might be able to do really well with one ..
Here is a letter written by Bell'as mother about the complications of owning a service dog
WONDERFUL LESSON IN SERVICE DOGGING FROM BELLA'S MOM

So someone had asked about what we do for our service dog. You know we never had considered a service dog for Bella before seeing a mobility dog in action.  It was a long year of us driving 30 minutes to Service Dog Project at least once a week to volunteer.  Bella helped change waters, feed, brush, scoop poop, clean kennels, sweep, fluff fluffies and give pats with treats to many dogs over that year long period.

The more you can be there helping out the better chance of a dog choosing you just like George chose Bella.  Is it always easy?  Nope.  It takes a lot of planning. With crutches there was no thinking involved.  Bella could get up and dressed and then crutch to school or to a Dr. appointment.  No worries.

But when you add a service dog into the mix it takes more planning.  “Bella did George go pee and poop this morning?  Did George have breakfast?  Do you have his vest/chain?  Did he have 5 minutes to run?  Do you have his coat if it's cold?” It's a lot to plan every time you leave the house. Then planning for the unexpected such as keeping a container in the car with water/ food bowls, treats, food, fluffies, and water.

Does Bella always do 100% of his care?  No of course not but she does 95+% of his care.  She will happily take him to the bathroom, feed him, brush him, scoop his poop, and of course keep treats nearby.

Would we change anything?  No way.  Seeing the improvements have been amazing.  Bella is so much stronger.  But when you have a service dog you have to remember this is a 24/7/365 day job.  Bella doesn't decide when she wants to use George or when she wants to use crutches.  George doesn't stay home alone.  He is always with us including overnights at the hospital.

Has it changed anything?  Of course it has.  Are their places we don't go?  Yup. Does it draw attention?  Yes, at times Bella doesn't feel like saying Hi but she has to because she isn’t allowed to be rude.  So before you think of getting a service dog remember they require a lot of work, training, even after you think they are trained there is always more they need to learn, love, time and attention. Are crutches easier?  Yup but we have adjusted our lives to include George and wouldn't change it for anything. It's not an option to give up on him and decide one day we don't want to put forth the extra effort.

It is a lot of effort but he gave Bella her life back so we will do whatever we can to make him happy!
But look at that face? What's not to love?

Love Bella and George
