Lots of things keep me up al night-------accounting will drive me nuts... when i set up this sdp long ago... with the dizzy bucket---- i had a friend who is quite astute in the accounting world
wave his hand over the process and said it was as tight as most banking systems.
allow me....
mail is opened on camera-- that is no accident.... hundreds of people watch and if i make a mistake believe me i am told about it and fix it right away...
that bucket sits around- on the camera you all know about/// plus another camera you don't see. At any rate I suggest you do not touch that jug.
Every penny-- no-- dollar goes in that jug... and then to THE book.
The book is a Simple book in Lynn’s desk and everything coming in is listed in that book with any necessary notes so that that book is basically a source of everything that's coming here.. and it becomes the basis for the deposits which are all made into one bank so that we establish a source of pure numbers. if everything is run through that bank account then God help us those numbers ought to be correct and if our numbers do not match that bank account we need to know why and there should be no reason ----they should match.
then if you need separate categories of funds like how many shirts did we sell those numbers should be available from that source of the book which produces the deposits.
now I personally like a simple spreadsheet.. the world has gummed it up by producing in accounting system which I forgot the name of--however my simple spreadsheet with every entry labeled with what category it belongs in---- has served me very nicely for many many years category 10 is anything to do with automotive 51 there's animal food 18 is insurance and it works.. it works because of the Dewey decimal system used in libraries... where you go from 18 to 18.5 then18.51 or 18.6...
So if you needed to know something about insurance there'll be a bunch of 18 somethings and you're gonna find what you need.
and the numbers are going to match the bank statement.
So in our service dog project every single dime or dollar who comes that comes in here goes in that jug----- let me clarify that dime and dollar business
Coins. are tossed in that great big jug of coins right inside the front door and those are counted maybe once a year and that total entered as a donation but it is a little bit random and there are no dollars in there that I know of just coins.
So now let me explain how to drive me crazy. If we need a new $5.76 widget for the steering of the tractor who should pay for that.?
or more probably whose accounting system should absorb that $5.76
that tractor cost I believe about $45,000 and it was purchased with service dog project donation except we turned in my old tractor in the purchase which I had bought myself with the money I had earned selling magazines at four cents each ------that starts the problem ----the tractors used add push snow all over sosdp people can park and to carry the manure off to a pile of composting it is a very busy tractor
But now Janine has a line on 3000 feet of fencing which might be available to service dog project or more exactly someone might give this to her she has her own 501C3 in equine rescue network. some of her equine rescue network animals are here in the back barn also called tanner's barn being quarantined in case they have something contagious coming out of the slaughter pens in Pennsylvania so we isolate them for a while before we mix them with what I figure are my donkeys... that's an awful lot of fencing and to make proper use of it we'd have an awful lot of posthole digging to do but seeing as the fence may be free or donated. With that much fencing to install we really would need a post hole diggerI could easily purchase a post hole digger for the back of the kabuta. they are somewhere between 799 and 899 at tractor supply So if I spend that a $899 to install fencing on my property which would benefit both ERN and SDP and me... are both tax free I am not obviously ------so all you people who want to be absolutely positive every penny is properly applied why don't you bend your heads around those facts and let me know what I shoulde do and then I don't want to hear about it again because there are 1000 similarly expenses here and if you're gonna fuss about whether I had shrimp salad or an egg salad sandwich( which would you believe someone did fuss about) Just please go drive yourself crazy in some other corner..... we do the best we can ------- get over it.
and remember we just buried Bentley with the tractor that is or primary manure mover for E RN.
We could have hired masterson’s to bury him... but then we would have had a scheduling problem.... how do you figure in that “cost”.
