shocker of teh day... a friend from Forida who was going to come visit, opted not to drive to Massachusetts with a Florida license plate... and i think they have a good point... in an already strange world, this cov is making a few people really bizarre. i have decided i am the only sane one..... and if you believe that, i have a lovely bridge in brooklyn to sell you....
best news is our puppies are doing fantastic-- megan took may out for a 3 hour vacation from the pups and said she did not appear to get too full of milk in those 3 hours .we are coming down the home stretch to feeding gruel which is always such fun !
.so here we go---- 30 days hath......... if they were born 7/20 11 +7 = 18 . and teh dishes of goop start at about 21 days... D>>O>>N>>N>>A time to locate teh equipment-- goats milk with purina puppy food ----grind it up in teh blender... then pour it into a 'serving dish" to let it swell before feeding it... if you leave it in the blender it becomes a solid mess around those sharp blades on the blendar... which sometimes not even the dishwasher can blow awaay...sometimes after teh initial swelling we need to return it to it's proper viscosity . what we do not want is for them to eat something that will turn to concrete in theri tummies... i have not tried it with regular adult food, but it is probably the same... for your own education since you don't have much to do with this stay at home bit....grind up some into a sand type consistincy add water and stir..... the volume changes... the concept is why we feed dampened dry food... at least start the swelling before they get a belly full..
my test case... that goop we feed ( and spill all over.... ) the 3 week old pups will glue 2 towels together better than elmers glue all,

then there is the shape of the dish;... most critical... must be slanted down and out from the rim -- not tapered in at teh bottom... those dished tapered in are outlawed here ( except in raised containers) they can be made to flip qnd hit the pup inth nose if they happily jump around in anticipation of your dumping food in an empty dish. the law around here is... if the dish is on the ground , it must taper out....

talk about wierd "laws" i was told yesterrdqay by the roving animal police that a law is coming that all kenneling must not b e made of wood.
don't i wish animal laws were made by people who really knew animals. the no wood concept is lovely ---- george (dvm) has said that for years...my wooden raised sleeping lofts made of wood were condusive to harboring germs... i should take them out? and have the dogs all sleep on the concrete floors? what about the unhappy , uncomfortable hard, non porous surface and bald elbows and arthritis?
pick your poison.
george did have an effect on my decision making when i put up that icu building. you know the totally washable building with teh $19,000 floor drain which the town building code said i had to have.... flushable floor drains???? -- bet you never heard of them-- well we got 'em . tht had to do with something like, if the building was not a house, then it was a commercial building, and all commercial builldings had to have the ability to run fresh water into the floor drain.- prior to getting involved with that building inspector......all the other kennels here have a piece of pvc pipe for maybe $30..
just so none of the new dd readers wonder whay i can be so hard on "the lawmakers"
how can i not mention the building inspector who pointed his finger at me saying" you are out of your league, you are only a woman" --- in my opinion, his comment was because i wanted the white arena instead of hiring his friend to build me a wooden one. so he forced me to get a soil compaction study for $27,000 for a building that would in all probability go up..... not down... and the contractor said he never heard of this requirement in this setting...
from "my league" ... those ridiculous expenses were easily 2 finished service dogs...
my ire was great.

the turkeys are in the chicken area because they kept gettoijng out of the donkey area ... this is more than jiminey could stand and the yard is covered with white feathers. i have said "jiminey please don't do that" so far that has little effect >
