gotta love it....  george has a badge from childrens hospital  "parent/guardian  george burton"   i will try the photo...no.......it won't let me do photos... well maybe????

george is such a character i am sure 99% of the staff at childrens  enjoy having him there taking care of bella...   he certainly is a personification of perfect behavior allows a dog-- ( or person) untold freedom.. it also has alot to do with the burtons...  george has the vocabulary of about a 3-4 year old child  - i am not sure he know any "commands"--  you talk to that dog.  this is where i gt in trouble with  ADI..
i know they are trying to  be sure any dog with a service dog label is properly trained and say that the dog must know 30 commands... and then there is sdp danes... they can pass any test you want to se
t up for proper behavior... but if you stand in front of them and  command "sit"  they will look at you like you  are from mars.
used to be.... when i was more active training... that every animal on the property had what we called the  "ultimate whoa" -- dogs, horses donkeys ... kids..  if anybody yells ---WHOA-- you stop in your tracks  and worry about why later....
this is one thing MO has forgotton.. i am sure she was an amish work horse who would know that... but she has had so much freedom around here that she has forgotten  it... which is why she is now confined to the pasture with the others...  maybe in the spring i can give her a refresher course....-- i had a rope on her neck when she knocked me aside like i wasn't even there....  and as she trotted down boxford road... and i rode next to her on my golf cart  yelling  whoa... she didn't.  this is a large trangression...

***i remember  2 perfect horses... duke-- a black percheron = abotu 2000 pounds-- he and his partner dick were, i was told, the lead team at disney,   somewhere in dukes life he had pulled logs too because  when we were clearing this property, i was using him to pull logs into a pile to where  the truck could pick them up-- monster logs our current tractor would have  problem with.. duke pulled..-- at one moment- near the guest house , i got my leg in the wrong place and yelled whoa-- he stopped and stood motionless-- or i would  now  have one leg...
***harvey was a quarter horse- probabluy used in roping because he knew ropes-- at one moment i was riding him  in lynnfield and a fence  wire snapped and  landed around my neck--- i hate to think... but i yelled whoa and harvey didn't move.  my other famous harvey story was...... my husband bought a race horse for an awful lot of money  in my book...($35,000)? and we trailered him to suffock downs to exercise him- and harvy was the "pony" to sidle up  next to him at a dead run   at the finish line and stop him... when we got back to the stable area, i had 2 offers to buy harvey- and you could not give away the race horse.  i have alot of stories about race horses..  i did not like the "sport"

this cold weatehr this weekend... i am gong to ask any purple shirters to take a barn dog home for the weekend...  these are all pretty well behaved nearly trained dogs, and should be a delight to have in someone's home..  and in vestts they are all sd in training and can go anywhere that  anyone needs to go ...   they could not be left home alone...--- i am terrified tht the furnace stop.. as furnaces do... and i wouyod have 20 very cold dogs...- so my plan is to load up the guest house with ... hope fully .. laura.. devlin ..bella / or someone who can manage a bunch of dogs...  the training room is another place..  because  both those buildings  can have peolpe in them .. and we can have blankets on the dogs... can't do that where we can's see them for fear a blanket gets caught on a fence and holds them... .. i have a PHD in  murphy's law.  i warned megan who is now trying to figure who goes where...  i can probably sleep in the "sun" room chair and have 3 or 4 dogs in there with me... and keep them from rough- housing... so we have about 20 dogs to move out while the temp is  minus 2... for teh next 3 nightsl....
we do have an emergency light in the feed room tt would tell us if the temp gets below 55 degrees...   great-- so what do i do with 20 dogs at 2 am if teh furnace stops and temp drops???
these are pretty well behaved dogs and should be... like geroge.. a pleasuere to deal with...
