the rest of the walmart story-- well, at least some of it....
Wallmart gave everyone a raise... wonderful...
and they closed many stores... including our "local" SAM's
tMY RELATED problem-----for some tech reason, i could not order the dickenson's cranberry relish from smuckers online as i have for years...
but Walmart said they had it..12 jars-- fine..
next i got a notice i am geting a package from gourmet shopping ---big tracking number--- tht would nottell me what i forgot i had ordered from any gourmet shope- i had to wait-- and a perfectly inferior cardboard box arrived-- and you know i am getting to be a connoisseur of cardboard boxes.... terrible box-- with many green plastic bubble things- because the box was far too big for the 12 jars of relish--
totally lacing in the pinosh of amaon shipments
strikes me... that walmart isgrasping at straws trying to stay afloat against amazon--
however the package from walmart made me think that ordering from them caused som guy in walmart central to say "i have an uncle in omaha who has some relish in his pantry that he doesn like sooo let me call him and have him wrap it and send it ."
not that amazzon doesn't hve tehir problems, but teh differeence was monumental...
which also caused me to wonder how... when i had googled smuckers store, did my computer not allow me to ordrso i ended up at walmart'S SITE ...
shopping at walmart is something i do only when i need large plastic objects-- like trash cans or the like.. relish is not one of their best known sale items...
that happened electronically i did not plan "if not smuckers, then walmart" .... how did that happen..????

thiws is very related to my distrust of the gizmo in my car that tells a mechnic to replace my solinoid - whatever thatiws....because i have visions of toyota supply central having a meeting and deciding " we have that huge supply of solinoids so lets send them out to all th etoyota dealers in ip codes that start with 019-- and then trigger the gizmos sold in that area with vin numbers ending in an odd number- and have the gimos self destruct....teh drivers will all rush in and be very happy that the dealer is ready with the part."

there is more to this bar code/ computer stuff than meets the eye- there is another area of marketing almost related
back when....... i was in tth magazine delivry business--- it was.is well known that having something right at the register will increase sales because of impusle buying.. that counter stuf is a rough business... i would try and get the want ad rack on th ecounter right nes=xt to the register, and be told "you can't have it there these other companies PAY to be there."
ok, flip forward 30 years--- and home depot manager told me we could not take picktures of the dogs in the store...because they were afraid who might see those picctures.. and we got into a discussion of "i will sell xxx to home depot for 86 cents only if you guarentee me 18 inches of shelf space at eye level."

that certainly changed how i look at supermarkets -- I AM WAITING FOR MY SHOPPING CAR TO TELL ME TO.... "MAKE A LEGAL U-TURN AND RETURN TO THE MAYONAISE DISPLAY ON YOUR LEFT...BISCAUSE YOUR REFRIGERATOR AT HOME SAYS TEH JAR IS VERY LIGHT...... AND SPEAKING OF THAT ... MAKE IT LIGHT MAYONASIE BECAUS YOU ARE PUTTIN ON WEIGHT AGAIN"

speaking of wierdness... i have that odd relative in houston tex who is, maybe corectly, afraid some german company is buying up all our supermarkets. behind the scenes... i forget the names... but i did 2 minutes research and saw he had a point...
