bomb cyclone????? bombogenesis ???? i am sure i caused it. 2020 12 5 I never meant to insult mommy nature by insinuating today's storm would be only a rain storm .. Yesterday Saturday when somebody told me it was going to rain or maybe 8 inches of snow I very clearly said well I won't put the plow on my car with that uncertain weather report it can't be a serious storm---it will probably just rain . and then I get out of bed to words like bombogenesis .. it's raining pretty good out there right now . You would think I'd learn .. don't tempt fate .. fate is the Hunter .. Needless to say puppy training today will be in the arena where thanks to $5000 worth of bulldozing all the rain off this roof we'll go shooting off into a low spot down by the parking Pitt instead of making an Olympic sized swimming pool in front of the dumpster .. .it doesn't rain in the arena .. Now there is an idiot sounding statement we put up the arena to have a place where we could get out of the rain .. but not having any rain in there makes it some WHAT equivalent TO THE WORLD’S BIGGEST Kitty litter box ... I bet you never thought of that .. so somehow we have to work on the fact that doggy pee smells like dog pee .. and I have WatchED Dogs peeing particularly Bentley who has an incredible sized bladder and will stand draining away for a very long time .. it never occurred to me until just now to try and figure out the quantity of this steady stream but it is significant .. now multiply that times the 40 or 50 or 60 dogs that will be in that arena on a daily basis and many choose to pee there .. So the situation needs to be addressed .. FYI------All you people who read this thing first thing in the morning I'm sure this is exactly what you would like to hear about but this is a serious problem for today .. because with the rain the dogs would prefer NO TO GO out of their kennels and pee but the minute we let him in the arena they will .. so in this pouring rain we could have a situation we were standing there with a hose watering down the arena .. used to be .. one would spread powdered lime all over and water it down ... that's the same stuff you put in a horses stall to kill the ammonia spell .....but there's a new product out tractor supply carries I think it's called PDZ .. That is in granulated form it needs to be spread buy one of those sifting downWARD type spreaders would spread about 3 feet at a time it doesn't do well in the spreader spreaders which fling it sideways 15 feet so that means a lot of walking back and forth to cover 60 by 80 and then water it down .. and it's good for another few months .. Going back to quantity ----one has only to stand behind a draft horse to be amazed at the production of fluids that come out of there .. It has to go somewhere ----- I think there is some statistic about running fluids through soil and earth for 25 feet you END UP WITH pure water .. now there's a statistic that possibly I've screwed up tremendously but there are such numbers like that . historically when we lived in Lynnfield that houssan farm we're one of the older ones in town and there was a hand dug stone lined well which we used for years .you could lift the lid and see the water down there about 10 --12 feet and it was wonderful water .. it was also right in the middle of the donkey pastor .. There came a time when we were very short of rain and we had to hook our house up to the town water on the street .. and the old timers in the area were shocked AND came and told us that that stonewell was the well they all came to wHEN all their wells went dry .. ------ WATER...... Well here's an idea that's maybe slightly more interesting.... a horse can drink out of a puddle not much more than one inch deep .. because they just put the very tip of their nose in so they're not drinking the stuff that floats on water and they don't go to the bottom to drink the stuff that sinks so they have a pretty good shot drinking half decent water because most everything else either floats or sinks .. unless it goes into solution and that's another problem .. I'm not sure in nature how much naturally produced stuff goes into solution it's humans and their petrol industry that break that barrier .. somebody is going to correct me on that one I'm sure .. But I've watched many horses and donkeys drink and thought they're making the best of a bad situation . BEFORE HUMANS... I AM SURE THERE WERE MANY SPRINGS BUBBLING HOWEVER.....I know of ONLY 1 place WHERE THERE IS A bubbling spring out of the ground .. in the Woods behind Ann's house and she says and as kids they used to just drink out of it . Someday when I have nothing else to do I'm going to stop my car on a cloverleaf off route 95 where they have blasted rock .. and even in dry weather there are little riblets a water running down that Rockwall .. so I'm going to go there with a little bottle and catch something have it tested and see what it says . that's when I have more time ... or energy -- COATING THE CHIMNEY Themocrete & Smoketite ARE THE MAJIC WORDS.....THERE IS A VIDEO...”OUT THERE” in the meantime I've got to collect all the pieces of galvanized stovepipe on the property---- which is significant ----and wait for Bud to come along and deal with our bullet heater .. that bullet heater blows a lot of air and I'm hoping if we blow it into the fireplace THAt it all goes up .. and not half of it blows out into the living room I say living room I mean Mail call room .. if we could get that heated air to blow up the chimney then the fact that the chimney repair has to be done over 48 degrees , is less limiting ----like maybe we can do it this month and not have to wait to July of next year .. somehow involving OUR DECK and kitchen window and more galvanized stove pipe I'm hoping beyond hope that we could get that fireplace operational before long .IT IS not one of those-" well maybe” --- kind of things because the stuff has water in it and it doesn't congeal right below 48 degrees ..so to seal off that one tiny crack in our tile in the chimney they have a rig I've seen a video .. they drop this thing down in the chimney in a plastic bag then pour in the gulp WHILE they raise the gizmo up with some crane crank and it smears the gulp as it comes up . AND THERE IS NOT A DAY IN DECEMBER WHERE EVEN 47 DEGREES IS FORECAST... THERE IS NO REMEDY IF YOU CAN NOT CHANGE THE “GIVEN” ---- IT IS LIKE BUILDING A BRIDGE THAT IS ONE INCH SHORT... ( DIDN’T THEY DO THAT FOR A WALKWAY IN FLORIDA???) ---- Hi Hope this note finds you well and tolerating this very crazy time Sunny is healthy and continues to be the best service dog ever( not that I am partial or anything....) She is a great help getting me up and down the stairs and keeping me on my 2 feet as I go about my day. Things are much easier with her help and she is eager to do her job. She remains very focused when working- nothing- not chipmunks, squirrels, seagulls, cats, other dogs , people etc-distract her and she has the best down stay ever. Despite COVID, we have been getting out for a walk to the beach every day(my happy place) but with winter coming that will soon come to an end and I am somewhat worried about how we are going to get our exercise in safely. Any suggestions? I think that’s it for this month Take care Lou Ann ------- CHICKEN BRICKS...... IF YOU CAN GIVE IT A BOOST BY BUYING ONE MORE, PLEASE DO.... IT IS SLOW THIS MONTH.... |
