It was a very successful trial run ---everything went smoothly---with an unbelievable amount of planning the donkeys behaved perfectly everything went very well and people were absolutely amazed and fascinated with the donkeys and the fact that they were jogging along with their handler without any specific disruption.. we had with us ---Bill--- not quite my age---but totally in character with beard and very old accommodating large donkey who had won the triple crown of the pack barrel racing world.. Bill had flown in on some red eye or another and actually done the race on Saturday where he may have been the only one to do the entire 12 or 13 miles in the woods...
One of the more amazing accomplishments of the day was that Janine must have been following her GPS to get us over TO memorial drive because we went down many very small streets of Summerville ----where ---because I was in the car following her I could see she had about 3 inches on either side of that big trailer and she didn't hit anything..
we had only one complaint and that was the irate policemen who had no fun in him at all and made bill move janine’s trailer and find a place to parallel park it... IN CAMBRIDGE????? I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND HOW ANYONE COULD LIVE IN CAMBRIDGE WITH A CAR.... LET ALONE A FINDING A PLACE TO PARALEALL PARK A FIFTH WHEEL GOOSENECK... BUT HE DID.
WE DID HAVE GOLDYS HELP TOO BECAUSE last minute at home we found our old wheelchair had become unuseable so we opted to use the “high walker” ann had just donated to us... I had only used it walking and not sat in it,, because WHEN I SAT IN CAMBRIDGE, the tires were quite flat... making pushing me in the walker impossible,,, so as we sat behind MIT somewhere--- all alone in an empty parking lot – gwen went in the car to get a bike tire pump--- one lone car pulled in to look us over...elizabeth quickly asked if they had a tire pump.. and they did !! HAS TO HAVE BEEN GOLDY !! SHORTLY GWEN SHOWED UP WITH A STORE BOUGHT ONE ---SO WE CARRIED THAT TO THE MEM DRIVE....
WE DID HAVE 2 MINI HORSES WITH US- BUT I THINK THEY STAYED IN THE TRAILER... THEY WERE MINUS THE RELAXED ATTITUDE OF ALL THE DONKEYS... WE DID GET SOME TERRIFFIC VIDEOS OF THE “EPISODE”.
NO CAMBRIDGE OFF ICIAL EVER CONTACTED US---BECAUSE WE WERE AN ADDED ATTRACTION – WELL BEHAVED AND UNDER CONTROL... SO IF EVERYONE HAS THE STAMINA.... ON TO NEXT YEAR !!
I HAVE TO TELL THIS STORY. A NON DONKEY RELATED FROM YESTERDAY....AS JANINE WAS JOGGING ME BACK TO OUR “STARTING “ PLACE... SHE ABRUPTLY STOPPED TO PICK UP one of those inch and a half circles of slightly heavy elastic HAIR holDerUPPERS---- I did not believe as she explained they are all over and she picks them up put them in her pocket which then goes into the washing machine so they become clean and she uses them it--- no longer has to buy any------ I thought she's crazy--- the next half mile we picked up three more--- they are literally all over the place--- theY were very distinctive sort of inch and a half circle as they lay on the ground--- I thought IN a half mile was excessive but she says not really ---she finds them all over the malls at any place.. so that's the weird FYI of the day.
I CAME HOME AND COLLAPSED .. I NEVER SAW THE COLORADO BUNCH LEAVE—OR MAYBE THEY DIDN’T—I KNOW ONE SLEPT IN THE RV ONE NIGHT... NICE BUNCH .. WE HAD A GREAT TIME
P.S. I HAVE TO MENTION THE RELIEF OF THE SUPPORT OF THE GOLDYS FARM BOARD..... BEST BIRTHDAY PRESSENT EVER....—AND WE NEED TO STAGE A WINNER PICKING EPISODE AS SOON AS WE GET OUR HEADS ON AFTER THE BEST BIRTHDAY EVER !
