For reasons too hard to explain I now live in a one room cabin with three Great Danes and one Jack Russell..... and I love it.. less is lovely... I had an aunt.. who said “Blessed be nothing because then you don't have to take care of it.”.. it might also be noted she married for the first time at the age of 81 and was a very happy person.
If we still had cameras on us 24 hours a day the world would be fascinated with the way these four dogs argue over these three beds. If you watch very carefully, the mother, sizzle, will walk over to Jimminey on the sofa and glare at her son . who would raise himself out of a sound sleep stretch a bit and politely get up and move--- at which point she gets on the sofa. Jiminey, nowt dispossessed of the sofa, would slowly climb on the footstool, containing Malarkey..Using his first born logic...Malarkey who is very happy dog doesn't like to have any conflict... As Jimmy would lower himself on to Malarkey he’d get up and get out of the way . Who's counting, but now you have 17 pound Wanda lying in the middle of the queen size bed ---with Maralkey at his 178 pound frame wanting to get comfortable up off the floor.. My dogs do not like to sleep on the floor. I don't like to sleep on the floor. In my career I've had to do that and I don't like it. so I have to have sympathy with poor Malarkey who's the most pleasant easy going dog I own and he's now been stripped of a comfortable bed...
Now I realize , Wanda just prefers to be comfortable and not disturbed. the only place she feels safe enough to get a decent night's sleep is unfortunately on my lap----which means I don't get much sleep---- so I have had to set up a crate on the queen size bed and prop the door open enough for just Wanda.. because if she's in that crate then Malarkey can jump up on the queen size bed and spread himself out and relax.
Larkey needs all the rest he can get because he is our #1 pattable dog and might have to put up with another 111 kids patting him like yesterday... at a kids day care center.
To convince wanda that the crate is a wonderful place to be I have taken a quart size prune juice bottle and filled it with very warm water.. by wrapping that up in a polyester. fluffy blanket --- so the very high heat of the water .....is dispensed over a longer. period of time .. Wanda will go in and make a nest in the fluffy using the heat to her best advantage.. this allows Larkey to get a decent night sleep on a b ed... and I too will sleep better.
THANKS to one prune juice bottle.
