AMONG OTHER THINGS...... we need some long distance MULE baCK SCRATCHERS- NOW THERE IS A CHALLANGE FOR ALL YOU CAMERA PEOPLE.... I STARTED WITH A 4:SOFT RUBBER DOG SCRATCHER WITH BUMPS-- AND WITH DIFFICULTY BOLTED IT TO A 4 FOOT LONG PVC PIPE-- THE DONKEYS AND MULES LOVE IT... ALSO IT PROVIDES "INVOLVEMENT" FOR BUSLOADS OF KIDS.
we can do better at providing "involvement."
WE GET 'EM.... by teh busload....THE LAst bunch-- had one of the teachers in tears watching teh 25 young kids scraping together handfulls of hay and filling fry pans to feed teh donkeys. ( and mules) -- it was interesting-- nice group-- teh co operation of hay finders , fry pan fillers , and "mo" feeders fell into an orderly mayhem- with no one fighting to hold teh fry pans-- these by the way are duct taped to about 3 foot pvc pipe-- i have only 3 of those-- could use more-- but we could also use back scratchers-- for which the donkeys will also line up- well at least teh older ones-- a couple new donks still have to get used to kids flinging 4 foot things around....
*** we have several extra pewople -- college types-- who are studying animal assisted therapy- and rather than get them into thte dog routines, the donkeys provice as much or more study of an intelligent animal- that about a month or so ago was wild-- and destined for the meat market in mexico. object being to get them over being wild, and then maybe teach them to do something to increase donkey's marketability in general...
people don't realize donks are very like dogs... and teh mini's at 32 inches tall are teh same size as teh danes..
in addition the donkeys have a very peaceful naturee about them..... not prone to "knee jerk" reaction to things.
where in a group, a horse would throw head up and kick at another horse- the donkey will just flick his tail to indicate his displeasure- this does not interfeer with chewing whatever it is they were thinking of fighting over.

for those of you who may not have seen teh CAFE LE' DONK - IT IS A TENT WITH A TABLE AND CHAIRS PLUS A FEEDER MADE WITH THAT WHITE SHEETS OF POLYWHATEVER THAT I GET FROM FARM TEK-
the donks stand in a row so aboutu 8 can be fed --- or scratched--- at a timel.
FYI----THIS polymax STUFF IS TOUGH-- MADE FOR THE WALLS IN A CAR WASH - I HAVE USED IT TO LINE KENNELS AND THE WALLS OF TEH MEAT CHIPPING SHED...-- the whole shed is a " white board" TEH 1/16th COMES IN LARGE SHEETS 5 X 10 (INSTEAD OF THE USUALL 4 X 8) and is about $50 each-- i still have some left fromt h last time i ordered it.
since freight is a significant charge... i got 12 sheets which came bent in a circle on a pallet. it is wonderful stuff -- beats plywood hands down. i have never seen it sold locally--
