the picking of poop.. as good a topic as any for a sunday morning....-- i've been at this DD for some 18 years now and i am running out of topics..
see a problem and addreess it... is pretty much how we operate... and afteer 18 years i must admit whoever is in charge of presenting the problems has not run out of material yet !!
when i am out in public with one of these huge dogs- there are 2 kinds of comments-- hundreds of people - both men and women will say "what a magnificent animal" but there is always 1- ( usually a man... i have studied this ) who says "how big is the poo pile"-- i don't know if it is because men traditionally cut the grass more often than women- the concept of mowing the lawn without picking poo, can have a disasterous affect-- the mythbusters ( i miss them) did a study on how far and fast a walk behind mower could sling small rocks- the speed and force approached teh speed and force of a bullet...-- teh poo would have less force because the rock would have more momentum being denser.... but the concept is there..
there are 3 factors in the picking of poo...- i have studied this too...
teh availability of teh material sufficient to deal with "TEH PILE" as it can be randomely produced-
teh variety of consistancies it ,ay be called on to pick up...watery to healthy rocks
the ability to transport the substance and the odor to some appropriate recepticle.
our system of the cereal boxes cut into 3" x 6" rectangles with a grocery bag sandwiched between a few can be kept in a back pocket to be available at teh instant the situation demands a solution.
there are times with a healthy jack russell where a bag alone could be sufficient-- but the cereal box cardboards make it easy to insert into the back pocket and withdraw the instant it is needed. shoud yesterdays ham sandwich go running thru the jack russell-- yo will be prepared.
so pick the poo, tie a knot and you are set to go.;
my system was deemed superior to the british woman who -- at a convention-- spoke about her "chunky vomit picker" - her's worked but she was faced with a dirty chunky vomit picker-- and mine was packeaged to go.
there is a real FYI-- here... there is one thing that has caused the injury or ddeath of several dogs-- if you tie a grocery bag to the handle of your leash--- it sounjds like such a good idea-- and sometimes it could be -- certainly it is there at teh right time on your morning walk... however... some doga-- like all horses--- are afraid of somethign dragging behind- dogs will get used to it with a little training,, horses never do... so if teh owner drops teh leash unexpectedly and the dog moves forward and sees teh grocery bag flipping around behind him-- it then thinks something is chasing him and will bolt racing around in total fear... totallly out of control.. - this is why all horses wear blinders so they don't see teh carriage or wagon they are pulling... in my lifetime think i have seen one race horse-- a trotter pulling the 2 wheeled racing cart without blinders... the thousands of other horses wear blinders... personally i would never "hitch" a horse without blinders regardless of how well trained... you can not obliterate a basic fear with training. people or animals....
donkeys- on the other hand- have to understand what is going on... and teh 8 donkeys in my hitch did not wear blinders... a frightened donkey stands still-- which is a lot easier to deal with-- unless you are in a parade with the budweiser hitch behind you-- but that is another story.

This girl! She sure has renewed determination to walk. It’s not too far without taking a break but she gets up and goes again and again! 💛
We had storms this morning then a nice sunny afternoon and now another string of strong thunderstorms are coming through. We got out while it was nice and attended a presentation about butterfly gardens. Luckily we already have several plants butterflies like. But today we got some milkweed for the catapillars to feed on. I meant to grab some fennel too but forgot it! So we played outside & planted those, found some flat rocks and a container for puddling water. I didn’t take any pics but with any luck we will attract a bunch of butterflies and there will be plenty of pictures later - we hear they expect a larger than average migration of Monarchs to our area this year.
