animals avoid uncomfortable situations-- people seek them out --dog lying on couch--vs---- man struggling up mt everest...this basic insanity is maybe why i prefer animals.---- as a species we do not keep our mind on any one goal... amazon and marketing get us to buy and do things that don't make sense....you build a house to enjoy the comforts and then go camping to lie on the hard ground amid teh bugs and bears.. we take up ---painful hobbies like riding on horses-- or in boats--- those are obcessions with an extrodnRY ammount of prep time to time spent actually enjoying the named pursuit...
making me wonder if teh prep and upkeep is actrually the critical part-- namely the inane art of "i have to go sand the boat" which can be any time all winter... or... " i have to go feed" - which has about a 12 hour window... horses demand a schedule... so do dogs.... this is a good thing.
the overnight news decided that the people in communities where life esxp[ectancy was over 100 had a few things in common...first was-- they had a schedule, then-- tehy ate nuts and berries- and 3rd they lived in a multigenerational
home/compound. .. oh yes-- and drank wine
i am delighted that our dogs help- so many people do things they couldn't or wouldn't do BD ( before dog)-- we go to extrodonary extremes to train our dogs to help walk and balance -- and be accepted in all public places-- but i get many calls a day for people who want a service dog basically for emotional support- i don't know how you train a dog to help with that-- because the help that all dogs give anyone is not "trainable" - what is trainiable is manners to be joy to own and be acceptable in public.. i don't know how " they" will get around what is an emotional support service dog... but i sure can spot a dog that is not a service dog based purely on manners.
i am back to -- the airport-- i would have a sign " all service animals must be stripped of all equipment and pass thru the xray alone." --- mostly that would stop people before they try to fake it... there might be a few loose goats or turkeys running around but that would be the exception...

we get alot of inquiries about service dogs-- they have to fall into 2 catagories - people we could possibly help- and others- for whatever reason- are people we do not think we could come up with a dog to help them-- mostly that we do not have an unlimited supply of dogs-- teh people to whom i hav had to say no, also fall into 2 catagories... those who accept our limitations and go elsewhere for other solutions and those who sit on the couch here and ask me why not them--- i feel terrible about it... but not every problem is solved by a dane. there are a few who are upset by the "no" -- and the internet gives them perfect place to tell the world what a terribly person i am... i figuer i am in for 2 of those a month...
so letters fom people who have our dogs and are doing a wonderful job are nice for me to hear too.

again-- the overnight news ---- in georgia 30% of all cell calls are robo calls..t eh highest % o those are verizon related.-- and how "it is simple" to get teh caller id to use any other phone number-- like a relatives number..
