ERIC AND HIS DOCUMENTARY VIDEO IS KEEPING ME BUSY ( INSIDE WHERE IT IS WARM...:) I NEED A PHOTO OR TWO OF SOME VERY PREGO FEMALE-- I BET ONE OF YO CAN FIND IT BETTER THAN I CAN.. ONE OF THOSDE "BEACHED WHALE' SHOTS... I THINK ONE WAS OLIVE...???
I HAD A MENTAL RUN DOWN YESTERDAY ON TH E TOPIC OF WOBBLES... HERE WE GO... MY OPINION.... ... GEORGE MAY ADAMATELY NOT AGREE WITH ME -- HOWEVER .... I LISTED THE 10 DOGS OUT OF OUR 350 THAT HAVE HAD SOME PROBLEM RELATED TO GAIT.. AND 7 OF THEM I HAD DOCUMENTED AN INJURY SHORTLY BEFORE THE PROBLEM WITH WHICH FOOT WENT WHERE WHEN..
WHEN YOU HAVE A DANE- YOU CAN TAKE A DANE WITH A RUNNING NOSE TO A VET, AND THEY WILL TELL YOU TH EDOG HAS WOBBLES AND PROBABLY HIP DYSPLASIA... SLIDING ON ICE AND BANGING INTO A HARD OBJECT-- LIKE A TREE, CAUSED 3 OF MINE TO WOBBLE WITHIN 20 MINUTES... THEN----THERE WERE 2 DOGS WHO WERE TAKEN TO THE VET FOR ROUTINE PHYSICAL EXAM ( NOT AT GEORGES) AND THE VET "TESTED THEM FOR WOBBLES BY LIFTING THIER CHIN STRAIGHTU[ AND PRESSING THE BACK OF THIER HEAD FORWARD TIL THEY YELPED...--20 MINUTES LATER-- BOTH DOGS WOBBLED... I MAY BE ALL WET.... BUT THERE IS NO REASON FOR A VETERNARIAN - OR ANYONE ELSE...TO DO THAT SO --- ALL YOU PEOPLE WITH OUR DOGS DON'T LET ANYONE DO THAT ... EVER... WHERE I ALSO HAPPENS IS IF YOU GET INVOLVED WITH BEING A BLOOD DONOR... AS WE ARE OFTEN CALLED ON TO DO.... MANY VET TECHS WILL STRETCH THE DONOR'S HEAD SKYWARD WHICH IS TOTALLY UNNECESSARY.. SWING IT TO THE SIDE... THE SAME VEIN IS AVAILABE THAT WAY...
MY ASSUMPTION IS THAT DOGS WITH THOSE LONG ARCHED "SHOW" NECKS ARE MORE PRONE TO SPINAL PROBLEMS -- NECKS IN GENERAL ARE TROUBLE--- THAT IS WHY WE NOW HAVE HEADRESTS ON ALL THE CAR SEATS... ANOTHER ASSUMPTION OF MINE IS ALSO THAT .. OUR PUPS ARE SO ROUGH WITH EACH OTHER-- THAT USUALLY THEY GET WELL MUSCLED AND THIS IN ONE CASE MIGHT HELP.... BUT ALSO THERE WILL BE A DOG NOW AND THEN THAT GETS HURT... AND THERFORE HAS AN UNSTEADY GAIT... USUALLY PACING -- LIKE PERRY COLE... WHICH I THEN GIVE AWAY
AS A PERFECT PET... IF THIS WAS A GENETIC THING REQUIRING PRE-BREEDING XRAYS, I WOJD THINK THAT THE 10 DOGS I HAVE WOULD HAVE SOME LITTERMATES OR RELATIVES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM... BUT I SEE NO DIRECT RELATION WITH THE 10.
DONALD WAS ONE OF MY FIRST WOBBLE CASES... HE WAS NOT IN PAIN AT ALL.. JUST LOOKED AND RAN IN A MOST PEQILIAR FASHION... I GAVE HIM TO COLLEEN AND HE LIVED HAPPILY FOR 14 YEARS...
AND THEN THERE WAS GIGI-- WE HAD RUBBER RUGS ALL OVER TH HOUSE SO SHE DIDN'T FALL ON THE CORNERS... SHE HAD A LOVELY LITTER OF PERFECT PUPS-AND NOT ONE WOBBLED...
SO IT IS A MIXED BAG..
OTHER THAN STEROIDS/MEDICATION..... I WOULD NEVER SUGGEST SURGERY- I HAVE SEEN ONE SURGICAL CASE BE SUCCESSFULL
IT WAS NICO... NOT MY DOG... BUT HTE #1 AGILITY DANE IN THE COUNTRY-- (AND HE WAS DEAF !!) I HAVE HEARD OF A HUNDRED OF DISASTERS WHER THE DOG WAS JUST PUT THRU MISERABLE SURGERY AND EVENTHALLY EUTHANIZED..
YOU GIVE THEM A HAPPY LIFE AND WHEN IT IS OVER, IT IS OVER.

When I turned 70, my brother told me I was celebrating the 31st anniversary of my 39th birthday. So I have stayed 39 and just have anniversaries now.
