late start -
very busy having nightmares about police chasing me and trying to hide a caboose in th woods. i think it was caused by the concept of geting a pallet of food- and trying to store it rat free... -- so i have been looking into containers... as in shipping containers-- which we could paint and dress up.. in calling around...(there are 2 places within 20 miles that have yards full of them) i know i heard--"come look them over and pick one out"
the whole concept was just too similar to the day i decided i must have a caboose. i founf that there is/was a railroad yard full of them in ?? erie penna?? and was told "come look at them and pick one out" so i went and spent the day climbing in and out of them.. no 2 are the same... they are small appartments- and i had growing teenagers... i found one and went to the office and said "i would like #26487"- i think $2500 was the cost- free delivery to the nearest con rail yard
( chelsea) in the meantime i could cll this phone number and dial in the 26487 and they would tell me exactly where it was... exactly..- at one point "crossing rt 89 in vermont" -- it was attached to some long freight train eventually bound for boston...
i knew all about nothing, except i was told.....a caboose comes apart easily... you lift off the box and there is one pin which fits into a hole in the 4 wheeled "trucks"-- it is a significant "pin" but i was shocked to find there was not even a cotter pin involved.
The over simplification of the YOU LIFT statement was no problem-- boston was constantly in a state of repair and the huge cranes were all owned by a company shaunessy- so i called them and simply siad i needed to move a caboose from chelsea to ipswich- The person asked if i wantd to get the permits or shoujld they... i said they should.... they said $1800 and LET THEM KNOW WHEN IT WAS READY TO MOVE...that was it. no fuss no bother...
permits???? i didn't know wha t they were talking about- so they got them-- turns out wide load and overhead wires were a problem-- but they knew all about that...
i do not remember where i got the 2 50 foot rails-- i remember how i got them in place by the flagpole...--- i had a mule not trained-- but by the time he dragged those 50' rails a around he knew what he was doing. they weigh 4487 pounds an inch... we sand blasted the outside of the caaboose and finished panneling the inside and i am told my college age children hae plenty memories of parties with everyond steadying themselves with the overhead handrails crooning "woo wooow woo woo". ---one person involved is now high in the mass legal system..
it was an institution for a while til i relaized it was an :inside" thing-- and an open tent would be better.. so i sold it ( for $2500)-- thus started the cloth tent-- which became the wooden t-tent which we now use all the time-- much more pleasent-- open air no walls... the t tent started with cutting down the tree for th e wood to make it... but that is a whole nother story.

now for the vomit report ---
ethyl remains much too quiet.. but is eating and drinking food plus goats milk- and did not vomit all night... she remains one very sick dog--- but there is hope if she can keep down the medication ( doxycycloine) which usually handles these tick borne diseases.- there is a second choice med-- injectable, but not as proven as doxi--- so if we an deal with that challange of keeping the doxi down that is the first choice treatment. we had her slated to pull someone's wheelchair starting in march--- and i had to email them and tell them to keep in touch reading this email for reports. could be she is fine-- per the vet... but could be she does not become 100% either.. we move along...

meanwhile scott and dash are here-- dash looks terriffic- and is watching his every move... when i gave dash to him i signed his certification for only 3 weeks- forcing him to come back so i could look at dash and see how she felt about this assignment.. she is thrilled and loves him-- so i signed his certification til july 15-- it is planned by then he would have moved to the boston area where he ahs adult children in college and we should see him come and go as a volunteer by then.. that is the plan.
