the donkey in penna -- i don't know where we stand-- it gets very confusing..-- it has to do with quarenteen and this being strangles season... strangles is a very CONTAGEOUS messy cold/flu/swollen glands ... a horse with a running nose is a massive display of goop..-- i have not seen any get really sick with it-- just "bed rest" after which yu scrub the walls etc-- because along with snorting their nose.. they wipe it on all th e walls, feed tubs thier ankles and hay racks... where it becomes the consistancy of superglue.

RECIEVING THE GRANT IN APRIL OF 2013
IT STARTED OUT SO CASUALLY-- SOME OUTFIT WANTED TO PUT LIVE CAMERAS AROUND THE FARM.. WHY NOT?--- I WAS SLIGHTLY DISTRACTED AND FIGURED IT WAS JUST SOME NEW PHASE I WAS DESTINED TO GO THRU AND I WOULD DEAL WHEN I HAD MORE TIME.
ON INTO SEPTEMBER, I BEGAN TO REALIZE THE MAGNITUDE OF WHAT WE WERE NT INVOLVED IN-- PRODUCING PUPS ON LIVE CAMERA SOUNDED WONDERFUL-- AND NOT THAT DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WE USUALLY DID..-- THAT IS WHEN I REALIZED THAT THESE CAMERA PEOPLE WERE REALLY INTO THE BIRTH OF THE PUPS- AND THO LOOSING A PUP IN A DANE LITTER IS NEARLY NORMAL, THESE CAMERA PEOPLE WOULD NOT ACCEPT THAT AS NORMAL FUN AND GAMES...SO TO PREVENT QANY MISHAPS -- AND TO ALLOW ME TO GET ANY SLEEP--- WE STarted the 7pm to 7am shift- i know all about whelping boxes with the lip-- experience cmes from bad experience.. i threw mine out after the death of the first harl pup i ever had. Nothing beats having someone sit with the pups for the first 3 weeks-- and even that is ot 100%
AS THE MONTHS WENT BAY--- HAVING SOMEONE KEEP THEM ALIVE WAS HIGH ON THE LIST-- BUT THE OVERNIGHT PERSON ALSO KEPT THE CAMERA GOING STRAIGHT AND KEPT THE MESS UNDER CONTROL...--IT WAS A BIG INVESTMENT ON MY PART- TO TRY AND KEEP US PICTURE PERFECT AT ALL TIMES-- BUT IT DID PAY OFF AS TEH CAMERA PEOPLE BEGAN TO WATCH US IN EARNEST AND CONTRIBUTE TO THE NEEDS OF THE PUPPIES...
NOT MUCH WAS SAID ABOUT ANY GRANT AT THAT TIME WHILE SDP WAS PUTTING THE OVERNIGHT MONEY"OUT FRONT" --IT WAS A WORRY

THEN IN JANUARY THEY INVITED ANNE AND ME OUT TO CALIFORNIA ( WITH LULU AKA ORDER) AND WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD RECEIVE A GRANT- BUT THEY DID NOT SAY WHEN-- SO ltho we could make plans WE DID NOT DARE TO REALLY SPEND ANY OF "THEIR" MONEY UNTIL WE ACTUALLY HAD IT IN THE BANK

HI CARLENE,
HOPE ALL IS WELL. WE WANTED TO CHECK IN AND GIVE AN UPDATE ON HOW THINGS ARE GOING WITH LOLA. SHE HAS DONE A COMPLETE TURN AROUND AND NOW WE CAN GO ANYWHERE AND SHE IS NOT DISTRACTED BY NOISES. THE OTHER DAY WE WENT TO THE BANK, THE MALL, OUT TO LUNCH AND TO VISIT MELANIE AT WORK AND SHE WAS PERFECT! WE HAVE HAD TO RIDE MANY ELEVATORS AND SHE IS DOING WONDERFULLY WITH THOSE NOW ALSO. EVERYONE GUSHES OVER HOW BEAUTIFUL SHE IS AND THEY LOVE TO WATCH HOW WELL I AM DOING SINCE SHE CAME INTO MY LIFE.
WE WENT TO A NEUROLOGY APPOINTMENT AND THE NEUROLOGIST IS STILL BLOWN AWAY WITH HOW WELL I AM DOING SINCE HAVING LOLA. SHE MAKES ME WALK WITH LOLA AND WITHOUT HER AND IS AMAZED AT THE DIFFERENCE. SHE SAYS THAT MY LEG MUSCLES HAVE GOTTEN SO MUCH STRONGER AND MY REFLEXES ARE BETTER. LOLA IS VERY ATTENTIVE AS THE DOCTOR GIVES ME MY EXAM. FOLLOWING ME WITH A CLOSE EYE. SHE DOES NOT LIKE WHEN THE DOCTOR MAKES ME WALK THE HALL WITHOUT HER, AND SHE LETS IT BE KNOWN SHE IS UNHAPPY NOT TO BE BY MY SIDE!
THIS TIME LAST YEAR I WAS WALKING WITH A WALKER OR MY WHEELCHAIR AND NEVER ABLE TO GO OUT ALONE. NOW I HAVE LOLA AND WE GO ON ADVENTURES DAILY TOGETHER. FREEDOM TASTES SO GOOD! TAKE CARE AND HOPEFULLY SEE YOU SUNDAY.

I wanted to add to the value of the explore cameras. While at the Cattle show recently I had the opportunity to speak with Miss Moody who teaches Animal Science at Essex Aggy. Upon seeing Wiilow, who she immediately identified as a SDP dog, she excitedly told me how she streamed Scarlot's whelping of the pups for her classes. She said she felt it was an educational experience that couldn't be had another way and was quite valuable. Of course, she also commented how just how darn cute they pups were.
