TEH MILLION DOLLAR 24 HOUR VET HOSP CALLED LATE ---TO REPORT LILO WAS DOING WELL- EATING-- PERKY-- THINKS MAYBE IT WAS A tummy issue caused BY THE SHIFT TO SIZZLES HI TEST MILK WHEN GABBY LEFT- COULD BE ALOT OF TUMMY THINGS-- LIKE I "FLOOR FED" THEM THE DAY BEFORE BECAUSE IT WAS SUCH A MESS AND I WANTED TO GET THEM OUT OF THEIR PEN WHEN WE HAD NO OVERNIGHT. COUPLE THAT WITH SPIILLING THIER WATER- SO TEH DRY FOOD MAY HAVE BEEN SHORT ON FLUID... WHATEVER... SHE IS APPARENTLY ON THE MEND AND COMING HOME THIS MORNING????
I ASKED PAM TO LIST TEH DOGS WITH THEIR MEDICAL STATUS SO WE CAN KEEP TRACK BETTER-- OR I CAN..... TURNS OUT MOST OF TEH BARN DOGS WERE COUGHING LAST WEEK AND MOST ARE NOW BETTER
WE HAVE 1 WITH "SOMETHING ELSE" A TEMP OF 105-- WHICH IS A BIG NUJMBER EVEN IF THEIR NORMAL IS 101-102 - WE ARE WATCHING HER- WITH MY philosophy "support until more symptoms show". i have had too many vets-- both horse and dog-- say "keep your eye on her and call me when something else developes" while charging me for teh farm call... so i try and skip that exercise...
LET ME TELL YOU bout "teh big foot" disease --- long ago ... 1988 ish i bought a dog from BMW KENNEL IN LONG ISLAND-- AND SHE" TIFFAny" -- AND ALL HER CHILDREN ONE BY ONE-- WOULD FEEL LOUSY.... SPIKE A 105.X AND PANIC ME- THEN BY THE TIME I CALLED GEORGE TEH TEMP WAS 101.X-- BUT ONE FRONT FOOT WAS SWOLLEN.
HE OF COURSE THOUGHT I WAS NUTS.... BUT AS LIFE WENT ON .. LIKE 400 DOGS... EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE .. IF I TOOK THE TEMP FAST ENOUGH I WOULD FIND 105 THEN HOURS LATER 101 AND A BIG FOOT.
ALWAYS A FRONT FOOT- NEVER A BACK ONE-- AND ALWAYS JUST ONE FOOT NEVER TWO. AND THEY WERE ALWAYS TRAceable to BMW's tiffany back maybe 4 generations -- but she was there. GEORGE NEVER FOUND A REAL REASON- TO MY KNOWLEDGE-- BUT HE HAS BEEN KNOWN OT USE TEH TERM "BIG FOOT DISEASE"
there are two reasons i do not think these pups have teh big foot... they have no temp-- ( but with that big foot thing it is a bounce to 105 and back to normal which can be missed) but they feel miserable-- terrribly uncomfortable-- until in the car donna and cindy noticed that once lilo had passed considerable gas, he felt much better.. that really did eliminate teh big foot in my mind...
the problem with not HAVING A MEDICAL EDUCATON ONE TENDS TO ZERO IN-- WE HAVE A COUGH ON THE PROPERTY SO THERFORE WHATEVER SYMPTOMS COME UP-- IT MUST BE TEH COUGH..

I CAN SEE IT NOW- THE INTERNET STrts teh rumer a pup doesn't feel well because it has a cough when in fact it has a broken toe.
the concept that the whole kennel can slide south at any moment is still very possible--i certainly know that.... but i also know that worrying if every leaf in teh sky is a flying saucer is exhausting.
