they are asleep-- thank heavens..- due to a variety of problems.. we had no overnight person -- so i watched smart tv... from my bedroom with one eye---and teh door--- open, -- they are okld enough now to scream if tehys get stuck somewhere..-- but that did not stop them from doing what puppies do and then slide in it..
to fix..... i came by way of teh overflow room adn quickly spread a towel and dumped 2 cupfulls of puppy food on teh towel tehn-- as quick as i could... becauwe of more sliding.... i lifted teh gate and let tehem into the "living room" slaming shut the door to what was their sleeping aqnd pooping quarters-- 4 coffee cups of dry food- and a dish of watere later, they have now all fallen asleep on a clean fluffy here in this room
with pam's help- the contents of their sleeping quaterrs are now bagged and on their way to the dumpster. the stench is enough to make me move to my car---- heated... a/c ... music.. i could manage...
it is sooooo typical of a house with puppies in it--- i am hoping we can get the stench out of everything like--closets.
then there is teh " air spray" which might smell better to us-- but i was never copnvinced the dogs thought it smelled better.... spring breezes to us might be what we might call sweaty socks to the dogs.. you will have to figure that ohe out--because dogs might like sweaty socks...
****
thank heavens for cut and paste... i have a very busy schedule today-- and not a whole lot of sleep

WELL ELVIS SURPRISES ME EVERY DAY... HE PUTS UP WITH SO MUCH AND TAKES EVERYTHING IN HIS STRIDE. THIS PAST WEEK WE WENT TO A PATRIOTS PRE-SEASON GAME AND ELVIS WAS A PRO NAVIGATING THE CROWDS AND LAID BY OUR FEET THROUGH THE ENTIRE GAME DESPITE THE NOISE. THEN HE WAS REALLY PUT TO THE TEST WHEN WE WENT TO A CONCERT LAST NIGHT. WE HAD GOT SEATS TOWARDS THE BACK OF FENWAY BUT AFTER A MIX UP WITH THEM NOT BEING ACCESSIBLE SEATS WE WERE MOVED TO THE VERY FRONT! AT FIRST I WAS A LITTLE CONCERNED THAT BEING THIS CLOSE TO THE FRONT WAS GOING TO BE TOUGH DUE TO THE NOISE, VIBRATIONS AND FLASHING LIGHTS. I WENT WITH MY CLOSE FRIEND SHEA AND WE BOTH SAID THAT IF AT ANY POINT ELVIS SEEMED UNCOMFORTABLE AND WANTED TO LEAVE WE WOULD WITHOUT HESITATION. THE CONCERT STARTED AND ELVIS LAID BY OUR FEET FOR THE ENTIRE CONCERT, OCCASIONALLY LOOKING UP TO SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING BUT OTHERWISE JUST LAID WRAPPED IN HIS FLUFFY. HE THEN CALMLY NAVIGATED ME THROUGH THE CROWDS ON THE WAY OUT OF FENWAY AT THE END. WE VERY ALMOST GOT TRAMPLED BY A CROWD RUNNING TOWARDS THE STAGE BUT ELVIS JUST REMAINED BY MY SIDE WITHOUT MISSING A STEP. WE ALSO PASSED MULTIPLE POLICE DOGS AT BOTH VENUES AND IT WAS NICE TO WATCH BOTH DOGS WALK PAST WITHOUT ANY HESITATION, STOPPING, OR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT.
THESE ARE TWO THINGS I WOULD NEVER OF GONE TO BEFORE ELVIS AND I HONESTLY HAVE NO WORDS FOR HOW INCREDIBLE ELVIS WAS THROUGHOUT BOTH EXPERIENCES. WE HAD MULTIPLE COMMENTS ABOUT HOW INCREDIBLY BEHAVED AND WELL TRAINED ELVIS IS. THANK YOU SDP FOR GIVING ME THE FREEDOM TO ENJOY THOSE GOOD MOMENTS WITH FRIENDS, TO CREATE MEMORIES I HOLD ONTO WHEN GOING THROUGH THE TOUGHER TIMES
*I HAVE ALSO TRIED MUTT MUFFS ON ELVIS AND HE HATES THEM, WE HAVE ALSO TRIED COTTON BALLS IN HIS EARS AND HE DOES NOT LIKE THOSE EITHER HENCE WHY HE DOESN'T HAVE THEM ON. HE IS MUCH HAPPIER WITH NOTHING AND IF HE EVER SHOWS SIGNS OF BEING UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE NOISE LEVEL WE LEAVE.
Hi, Carlene!
Reflecting on the early laser focus on spoon feeding by Gabby’s pups, I wondered if it possibly had something to do with all but one of them being a girl.
The hippocampus, associated with learning & the formation of new memories, is larger in the human female brain than that of the male, so I was curious if perhaps the same held true in dogs & made an interesting discovery.
In a A Duke University study relative to finding food hidden under a bowl female dogs were more successful than males through use of the hippocampus in a process known as “allocentric navigation,” a strategy similar to forming a mental map.
Maybe Gabby’s girls are concentrating & learning quickly because they are using the hippocampus in their brains to remember that spoon feeding runs smoothly when they sit patiently waiting their turn. Also, since boys tend to be more disruptive in class than girls, maybe little Simba being so outnumbered by his sisters does not distract them very much during the learning process.
Perhaps Gabby’s little ladies are shining examples of “Girl Power”!
Best always,
Linda
