i can swim--i passed teh red cross water safety instructor by proving i could turn a canoe back over, and drag a DROWNING PERSon by the hair on their head back onto shore... but it was not pretty... alot of splashing and bobing around, but i got there..--- HOWEVER....my sister frANNIE ... 4 years older DIDN'T SWIM... SHE SLID THRU THE WATER REALLY FAST WITH BARELY A RIPPLE... SORT OF A PERSONIFICATION OF WD-40-- WITH PROPELLER FEET---- AND HER FEET WERE NO BIGGER THAN MINE- AND AT THAT STAGE WE WERE BOTH THE SAME SORT OF SHAPE--- FLAT...
IN SPITE OF THE FACT WE BOTH CAN SWIM... SHE WILL WILLINGLY GO TO ISLANDS WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT...MAYBE I READ "THE BLACK STALLION" ONCE TOO OFTEN( ABOUT A BOY AND A HORSE ON AN ISLAND FINDING WATER) BUT IF I AM INADVERTANTLY ON AN ISLAND, I KNOW IT-- EVEN NEW YORK CITY....THAT MANHATTAN ISLAND IS ONE MISCALCULATION AWAY FROM NOT HAVING DRINKING WATER-- OR TRASH PICK UP... AND AS THE ENTIRE POPULATION RUSHES FOR TEH GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE TO WALK TO NEW JERSEY- I DON'T THINK NEW JERSEY COULD STAND TEH INFLUX-- THERE WOULD BE ANOTHER 40 MILE WALK BEFORE PEOPLE WOULD STOP SHOOTING EACH OTHER FOR A DRINK OF WATER.
I WILL GO THERE IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY- AND I CAN'T THINK OF A NECESSARY REASON AT THE MOMENT.
AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED BOATS/SHIPS ARE EVEN WORSE-- AS PORTABLE ISLANDS WITH EVEN FEWER OPTIONS IF THE GOING GETS ROUGH.- I THINK THE LAST BOAT I WAS ON WAS WHEN I WENT FROM CONN TO THE BACK END OF LONG ISLAND TO GO TO THE BMW KENNEL TO GET TIFFANY BRED TO A BMW STUD "JOHNNY" -- THAT BEGAT MABELINE WHO BEGAT PIPPY WHO BEGAT BITSY WHO BEGAT THUMPER WHO INADVERTANTLY BRED HIS DAUGHTER AND AFTER THAT CAME BENTLEY AND FRIENDS.
my FEAR OF BOATS IS LONG STANDING.-----I DID THE JUNIOR YEAR IN SCOTLAND EVEN IF MY FEAR OF GETTING THERE WAS NEARLY EQUAL TO MY FEAR OF ANOTHER MAINE WINTER. I WENT ON THE "QUEEN ELIZABETH" - EVEN IF I HAD NOT YET SEEN THE MOVIE TRAILER ABOUT TITANIC, I KNEW TERRA FIRMA WAS MILES UNDERNEATH THE SURFACE OF THAT WATER... SO EXCEPT FOR THE ROUTIEN TRIPS TO THE LOO, I SPENT IT WRAPPED UP IN BLANKETS ON A DECK CHAIR.... ON DECK.. RIGHT NEXT TO a LIFE RAFT- I COULD NOT GO IN MY STATEROOM- THOSE WALLS WOBBLED AND I COULD NOT SEE THE life raft 5 DAYS-- AND NIGHTS-- I GOT BACK TO THE STATES ON TH E SS UNITED STAtes--- same problem 4 days-- it was a faster ship...
all those ads about being lucky to win a cruise are worse than wasted on me.... i would pay not to go.

i think what got me going on this was --- in new england we complain loudly about th e potholes in teh streets-- yet there is an island where ther are not only holes in the streets but those holes are bubbling hot molten lava and non breathable air.
like the old saying goes... whatever that saying is that i forgot.

A friend of mine posted this on my FB page today. I didn't know she was following SDP for awhile because of me. I'll bet you didn't know you helped save a Great Dane puppy today. I just found out the father is a Newfoundland so it will be interesting to see what the pups look like when they get older. Here is a picture of them and mama now.
"You got me into SDP years ago. I watched so many chuppies born. Today, I got to help bring 13 Great Dane pups into the world. I had one kinda stuck and one not breathing, but because I watched and read and learned, I have 13 chirping little chups in my bedroom.
I thought of you and your love of dogs today
I wish you could hear them! "
