I WAS A COMPUTER EXPERT AT ONE POINT-- WELL AT LEAST THE WANT AD MAgazine thought i was- that was baCK WHEN THE SCREEN WAS BLACK AND WHITE-- YOU TURNED ON THE COMPUTER AND LOADED WHATEVER PROGRAM YOU WANTED TO DEAL WITH... NOW I TURN IT ON- it's  FULL OF BRIGHT COLORS IT TELLS ME WHAT THE WEATHER IS IN FAIRBANKS ALASKA, AND HOW TO CURE TOENAIL FUNGUS BEFORE I HAVEE EVEN HAD ONE SIP OF COFFEE.. I... HAVE...USE...AM OWNED BY ...AOL-- CLICKING ON THAT DOES NOT "OPEN" THINGS... IT BASICALLY  SHOWS ME A MATTRESS AD AND TELLS ME IF I PAID HTEM ANOTHER $4.99 A MONTH THEY WOULD ONLY SHOW ME ads  for thigs i had once shown an intrest in. thereby hangs a sorry tail of typ0s..--  every place i "goto" on the internet gives me a list of  choices-  now.....my various  age related details... like fast moving  shakey hands- causes me to ocassionally land in some very strange places.... .. but i hope that strange company in cambrisge that collects data hAS IN IT'S PROGRAM an "if" statement  TO ignore  ANY LOCATION THAT  IS NOT ATTENDED FOR more THAN 10 SECONDS. i think my daughter gwen once looked for a pair of shoes on ebay, and 3 years later is still getting ads for shoes...  it happens... **** I AM HARD PRESSED THIS MORNING FOR AN INSPIRAtion--   FOR CONCEPT ONLY.... fyi        maybe i can  demonstrate how a computer is able to make decisions like that  by writing a simple program----  it is the "if" statement --- this program has line numbers10 20 30  etc and it goes from one to the next as directed  10  let x=0 20  x=x+1  ( first time thru now   x=1) 30 print value of  x 40  if x < 7 then go back  to line  20  (so  if x is less than 7,  it loops back to line 20 and adds another  until x=7) 50  stop this will cause teh numbers 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 to be printed..  now if you change line 30 to  print  "good morning"  you will have "good morning"  printed 7 times  why might this be interesting...  ?  what happens if..... x= the mileage on your car-- and  line 40 says   if the mileage is  equal to 22,785 then cause  the CARBERATOR to  self destruct.. OR AS HACKERS HAVE FOUND... IF THIS IS THE 4695TH TIME YOU ARE TURNING ON YOUR COMPUTER, THEN PRINT "GOTTCHA" ON TEH SCREEN 100 TIMES and cause any remote object to operate.... so all of a sudden the garage door opens and  the tv switches to  channel 47--- it can be done.  frightened??   **** speaking of daughter gwen--- who is a fan of corgi's and has addopted an aging pair of corgis... has taken the test for  working  in teh asheville n.c. airport with a dog... she is having a great time-- paws for passengers---- if any of you are going thru and see someone with a corgi... have a meet and greet ********** Thank you very much.   Garnet did so well on Capital Hill on Wednesday. Several Senators could not stop talking about her. This helped so much to hen talking about SD and the challenges handlers and dogs encounter when “pets” are allowed everywhere. There is a conference call coming up June 7th with the FAA, addressing concerns about fake service dogs and access at airports. Overall it was a successful trip and Garnet is a rock star!!! Thank you, Karen and Garnet *** SIX MONTHS AGO I WAS MATCHED WITH MY BEST FRIEND, GRETCHEN. FROM THE DAY I GRABBED AHOLD OF HER HARNESS AND TOLD HER TO “WALK ON’, WE HAVEN'T LOOKED BACK SINCE. GRETCHEN CONTINUES TO AMAZING ME EVERYDAY AN OUR BOND KEEPS GROWING STRONGER. I COULDN'T IMAGINE GOING THROUGH LIFE WITH ANYONE ELSE BY MY SIDE. SHE HELPED ME GET THROUGH MY SECOND YEAR IN COLLEGE AND THROUGH THE SLIPPERY AND COLD WINTER. WITHOUT HER I WOULD'VE BEEN ON THE GROUND AND WOULD’VE HAD TO SKIP CLASSES WHEN IT WAS REALLY ICY. I’VE EVEN BEEN WALKING A FURTHER DISTANCE WHEN THERE ARE NO PARKING SPOTS AVAILABLE AT SCHOOL AND SHE IS GREAT AT WALKING AT MY SLOW PACE AND STOPPING ME TO TAKE BREAKS. I GIVE HER A KISS EVERY NIGHT AND SHE IS ALWAYS THERE TO GIVE ME A BIG WET KISS ON THE FACE WHEN I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING. WITHOUT HER I WOULDN'T BE GOING TO WALKS, I WOULD BE GOING IN MY WHEELCHAIR. WE WERE ON A WALK THIS SPRING AND I SLIPPED AND FELL, IT TOOK ME THREE OR MORE TRIES TO GET UP DUE TO MY EXTREME MUSCLE WEAKNESS BUT SHE STAYED RIGHT THERE AND “BRACED” FOR ME AS I USED HER TO PULL MYSELF OFF THE GROUND. SHE GIVES ME THE CONFIDENCE TO WALK AND TO KEEP WALKING AND NOT GIVE UP! SHE MATCHES HER PACE AND STEP EXACTLY WITH MINE AND WOULD DO ANYTHING DO HELP ME. AND SHE WILL BE THERE FOR ME WHEN I START MY TREATMENT FOR SPINAL MUSCULAR ATROPHY EITHER THIS SUMMER OR THIS FALL. GRETCHEN SAVES MY LIFE, EVERYDAY. SHE GIVES ME THE ABILITY! BEYOND THANKFUL FOR ALL THE SERVICE DOG PROJECT DOES!
