oct 8 2017
i would love to have more people get into dane training... the danes  are such naturals... and a perfectly trained dane is sooooo spectacular...  stands out in the crowd...  i wish teh great dane club of america would acknowledge george-- and wendy  ....
most of the  "show" dane community wants nothing to do with me-- i offended a few at an early age by buying  100 blue ribbons from the ribbon maker for 15 cents each and avoiding all the  hassles of dog showing--  my dogs were better than nearly everyone else's----  in my opinion...  unfortunately  my opinion was not shared by most of the  show  world..
i remember the guy/ veteran , in teh wheelchair  with a whit westie small dog.... at the adi convention " first they blow my legs off me , then they give me this ladies lap dog.. i want one of yours."    there is nothing like a dane  for service work...
there is alot  that danes are absolutely useless at...  they are timid... this does not mean they are fear biters-- they will vocalize their fear by grumbling.. so pay attention and don't push them into a corner......  in many years, i have never seen a dane move forward to grumble, growl and offer to bite any person......  they run backwards screaming "help me... i am terrified "    --- this is exceedingly useful with ptsd people-- it may look like they are  covering you to protect you,, when in fact  they too are terrified..  whatever... it works...

I HAD AN EMAIL FROM SOMEONE  WHO  wANTS TO GET INTO DaneTRAINING...  SO I WROTE THIS...

you sound like me about 60 years ago..  so have at it... !
as of the moment ... i don't think there is a "professional dog trainers certification" that i know of...  there are so many fakes...all i did was to show up at a adi director's office with 3 perfectly trained danes to prove my albility to train dogs.  because there is no substitute for a perfectly trained dog to state your qualifications--- or lack thereof...
so if you showed up at OUR  place with  perfectly trained dogs, i would certainly take you very seriously.-- and if i have one training gem to pass on , it is the spoon feeding.. to get their  undivided attention at an early age..... an don't read all the books on training...  watch the dog.. and try and think about their perspective..

here's a perfect example... bless facebook...... people mean welll and want  to be involved.....someone  at sdp, started hanging up birthday cards  around the room where we were waiting for pups...  the mother to be.. all of a sudden got up and needed to go out to have diahrea--  the dog sitter at the time  decided it was the cards that made the dog nervous and gave her diahrea-- so she took all the cards down-- and teh dog got better..she talked about that online.. and the next thing  a bunch of people are convinced we should not hang anything in the room with the new mothers...
no ammount of talk about the fact that the new mom was in the pond area the day before- and that area abounds in goose poop which they love...and is loaded with giardia... the sitter quickly saw that ... but the seed was planted on facebook....
because of this internet being  the authority on so much....... that concept can come to haunt me  weeks later.. teh #$%^&^%$ internet speaks with such  with great authority...

i fight that concept 1000 times a day especially  relateed to training-- even with me while training.."here dog .. hold this toy...... stay.... drop  it... good dog"  and the dog thinks "dropping it made me a good dog-- so i should drop it quicker."  --....wrong by my standards.. right by theirs...
or the classic  "be a good dog"    you  say that when they are being a bad dog-- but they hear  "good dog"- and you have magnified the problem...
****
as for adi accreditation.....every 5 years... which i have done twice now.... the "inspector" said at the front, she has never had any problem with the training of  my dogs, but the #$%^&*&^% paperwork..  is my problem.... and exit signs over doors... and fire extinguisners--  plans for flood emergencies( we are on a hill-- but we wrote down plans...)

i would  love to hear the  first hand  details of  a lean on me dog...  i have been trying to help chuck......it sounds like he is doing a good job..  i have offered him a couple of my pups as breeding stock when he is ready. ... if he wants some...(  and the  dane  bunch in arizona too if they speak up)   ...

if you are not looking to make money off this project, how do you intend to support yourself..?  in my case probably a  degree in math had something  to do with it.
so just for practice- look into becoming a 501 c 3  now...-- which can be done without a lawyer... i did it alone... often in tears...  it is a b1tch...  but if you do that,   adi.. and i .. will pay attention...

and i put you on the daily doggie list  - if you don't want it you can unsubscribe-- training thoughts sometimes appear there along with a bunch of junque.... quickly deleted.
******
..this is the latest message from Ishanti & Kaydet .. their area is in the path of Nate ... but the storm is expected to move quite quickly sooo fingers crossed .....
***
moving along...   audrey gave us 8 lovely pups..  that means   8+6+8 is probably enough for a little while...  meaning skipping opal's heat-- where she is too  heavy anyway...  ( that may be it for her.. she is  not young..)
but i will look at the white stud  " blue"   apparently ariot's brother...  ariot is sort of  the perfect dog shape and size....

cheers.
