.ACTUALLY 31 PUPS... ONE WENT HOME WITH GUSSIE REMEMBER??*************Hi Carlene! We don't have much to report but wanted to check in with you and let you know that things with Harry are going great. I am thankful to you and all of SDP every day for the gift you gave me. We are so thrilled that the Bella and George story has taken off like wildfire! How awesome that the world is getting to know the amazing thing that is SDP! Beth and Harry.
********KIARA REPORT
She is super playful with toys, which is quite cute. She loves bouncing around the yard with several toys, and has started to bring me a toy to play with her, so I may turn her into a retriever yet, ha ha ha. Her recall is non-existent yet. She is getting better about walking well on leash. We've put a harness on her to indicate she's "working" and are enforcing rules about walking politely. She is slow to trust (not surprising), so we are working towards earning that. She had her first session today of learning self-relaxation, and she did well after an initial struggle. She will be getting LOTS more of those sessions, which we will then use to teach her how to stay relaxed around dogs (and whatever else bothers her). She is generally still anxious - she does not like it when someone leaves a room, she does not like it when I'm in the yard with other dogs, she does not like it if I am or George is in the kitchen and she's in another room. So we will be working on some independence training as well. She rides well in the car and so far has shown no signs of reactivity/aggression towards things outside of the car.
She is going into the giant crate we have in the living room on her own now and is choosing to sleep in there during the day. She has thick memory foam beds in our bedroom and is getting better about staying on them and not trying to sneak up onto our bed during the night.
She's eating well and I have found a couple treats that she enjoys - beef liver and cheese.
*************ARROW REPORTLast night at our annual MS Society meeting in Charlottesville, Arrow was given the chapter's highest honor, the Terry Phelps Hall of Fame award. It was for his years of advocating for MS at the statehouse in Richmond and on Capitol Hill. He has always made a big impression with the senators and congressmen!
