june 13 2021

---thank you all  for the many  nice comments on my efforts yesterday to try and describe why service dogs are different. there is also an element of respect for the dog in the first place. dogs carefully raised are very different than  the caged and chained up variety.

i went to a great dane dog show in europe ? germany? and was amused by the beautiful dogs that had no basic training.. i specifically remember the grass was 12"  tall and one man was dragged across a field by a very happy dane  while he hung on and others chased him...  most of teh stud dogs had 2 or 3 handlers per dog.  it was a fiasco... apparently now alot better from pictures i see.. but i have not seen any obedience  or agility titles either... maybe i just don't look in the right place.... i bet some   of you can find that out.?????

i hope we get some lifters and  carriers here today.  it is painful for me to sit in the golf cart the see all teh minor details that would bring this fence project further along.  colby will be back tomorrow as chief lifter and carrier. biggest push today stand up some gates so we can get teh donkeys backi to the donkety cafe for both hay and water. and a visual for guests----- all  i need is a lifter and more hay string for teh quick knot.

we are collecting a significant  quantity of chain link for lynnwhich involves all the contraptions to connect them all togethere...-- they are wonderfully adaptaive

many places where we were 6 inches short... or on a hill/bend... we simply attached one or two plain pipes to fill the gap.  it does work.

also gives us  a wild collection of odd pipes which eventually we should figure out how to store  on a yet to be made rack...between teh g tent and shipping container--

back to the water and river discussion.   . .googling....It is a common misconception that all rivers flow south or all rivers in the Northern Hemisphere flow towards the equator. However, the truth is that, like all objects, rivers flow downhill because of gravity.  They often take a path with the least resistance,

just a few numbers

longest -- nile 4258. -----then in the us.... mississippi. 2318--- and colorado. 1450 and getting shorter every year---

.. after 1960 the Colorado River has run dry before reaching the Pacific Ocean.-- the history of the  colorado river- is a good one... that i have not read.... but teh snippits i have heard about water rights, golf courses and shipping hay for horses to arabia have made me aware that the current drought is about to get much worse. for a whole bunch of reasons... mostly people-- far too many  who have moved to the desert just assuming water would flow somehow.... and it is not doing that.

the lack of water has a way of overtaking all other problems in the world.  from people in vegas building a grand canal so they can have gondolla rides to ?? detroit?? flint???   have they ever solved teh lead pipe problem...???

bentley is having a problem.when he strains to get up he makes great effort and great mess...., ,    ---- this worries me as I am about to move in an old couch for his bed—so yesterday I suggested to bud that we put that waterproof liner in the bed and  seal the cracks with flexall... if I  know it is going to happen, I best be prepared...   I doubt they would like that topic for a commercial. Their chicken coop boat is a pretty good stretch...

I can’t have my dog in a crate, what if I needed her...how would she get out.
Service dogs can’t be limited like that.  They are trained to be with us at all times and not leave our side except in an emergency.  They can’t be trained that each night they are off duty.
Repetitive tasks are essential for training but it has to be the right tasks or it can pose a potential issue.  Training a service dog that each night they are to be kept locked up is not the answer.
