so many topics .. so little time. what happens in California doesn't stay in California---- like smoke -----I can't imagine trying to breathe with all that smoke and it does come eastward ... I know that from my work for the military ....studying how to bomb the United States .. turns out you Bomb California and all the fallout just blows eastward in various patterns ..so as far as fires--- I can't say I have smelled them ... yet.... but I know let all that smoke is up there somewhere ... Now if brilliant ideas are often just accidental discoveries ,is there something we could learn from breathing California smoke .. I just happened to look up who invented aspirin .. turns out way back 1500 BC somebody noticed that chewing on the bark of a Willow or Birch tree cured the headache ... they must have had a heck of a headache to be chewing on the tree in the first place .however .. all those Birch and Willow trees in California that are contributing till the smoke that we then eventually inhale should cure a lot of headaches on the East Coast . .....that's really pushing it .. but That is the ultimate in the secondhand smoke .. This prompted me too wonder ... call it point to ponder for the day ..... a few weeks ago I contemplated ....If you are smoking and I can smell it what percentage all that smoke came off the end of the cigarette or out of your lungs ... and if it came out of your lungs does it have any COV attached . All sorts of studies by the mythbusters or others have measures the distance a sneeze can be sneezed but I don't know of any they have studied how far away from a cigarette do you affect the air quality .. i.e smell... I know when Pam used to smoke in our smokers shed I could smell it by the garage about 40 feet away .. so is that something you can put together with the COV bit and is 10 feet enough .??? I mentioned this concept several weeks ago and got half dozen responses as to the percentage of smoke off the end of the cigarette .. those people who smoked estimated a much higher smoke from the cigarette end .... those who did not smoke figure it came out of people's lungs .. ..granted ... it was a very small sample .. but the question is still unresolved in my head ..... if I can smell it ....is there a percentage they came out of their lungs ?. I can remember ---must've been 1945 ish ----in a car with my father smoking a cigar and my oldest sister in the front seat smoking a cigarette which made Me in the back seat vomit out the window . making rides in the car were such a joyish experience... no air conditioning and no power steering or windows...I can almost remember gagging out the window in the places like the Hutchinson River Pkwy in Westchester County . --- those were the days when you threw lotsa things out the window.... Like candy wrappers -- so you didn't clutter up the car .. and the location I associate with that is the very narrow highways in the borough of Queens NY where you had four Lane traffic and a very high concrete wall just beyond your side mirrors ... they were narrow but there was a collection about 14 inches of trash blown to the side of the road... New York is a lot cleaner now ... some of us have come to realize there is no more ....away ....to throw things . I am particularly fascinated by the expense a Kurd 2 get all these objects shipped in to New York area which eventually incurs a huge expense to get it shipped out of New York and into the coal mines of penna???? Which makes me wonder If that huge underground fire in Pennsylvania is still burning---- I think the town was Centralia---- and last I knew it's been burning since the 1960's ... Now there is a Google for you . Now in my case , poor Maine gets an awful lot of trash trucks going North on route 95 ..For the return trip they bring back lumber, Christmas trees, and Poland Springs water . Just To keep you all totally informed I did hear Maine has huge composting areas which will take not only the excess cafeteria foods from the universities in Massachusetts , but also recently deceased horses . Heck Those horses or perhaps the healthiest thing in some of those composting areas ......hopefully for the rest of East Coast I hope the Poland Springs Springs don't become contaminated or we're all in trouble .. which makes me wonder about Flint MI .. Water and trash... My concerns are very basic.... |
