I FEEL FOR RACHAEL WHO IS DOING SUCH A FANTASTIC JOB OF CARING FOR BELLA ( WITH SURGICAL LEG REPAIR) TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHICH PILL TO GIVE WHEN SO AS NOT TO OVERMEDICATE AND YET GET SOME SLEEP... IT IS A BIT LIKE THE OXYGEN INTHE AIRPLANE.... TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF OR YOU BOTH HAVE TROUBLES...

AS FOR FARM NEWS...

SURE LOOKS LIKE IT WAS NOT A WATERMELLON SEED. QUESTION IS... IS THEE MOVEMENT UNCONNECTED WITH THE OTHER DONKEY PUSHING ON HER BELLY ON THE OTHER SIDE. SURE LOOKS POSSIBLE... WE NEED A MILK DEPARTMENT CHECK..... MINI DONKEY-- SOMEONE WHO CAN GET DOWN ON THEIR KNEES AND LOOK.
****
AND THEN THERE IS THE CALENDAR--- WILLIAM WAS HERE... WE HAVE 12 PICTURES THAT ARE POSSIBLE... SO WE COUDL BE DONE... HOWEVER... WILLIAM IS WILLIAM AND THERE ARE 2 MORE HE WANTS TO TRY-- SO WE HAVE PLANNED TOMORROW BRFORE IT RAINS... OR FRIDAY AFTER IT RAINS.. AND SINCE IT INVOLVES ALL THE PUPPIES, IT WILL INVOLVE INGRID AND HER 3 FRIENDS... BOTH OF THESE SHOTS ARE A LITTLE TOO CLOSE TO TRAFFIC FOR US TO TRY SHORTHANDED...
NONE OF THESE PUPS HAVE BEEN ON A FIIGURE 8 LEASH YET EITHER...
*******
I WILL TRY AND ARRAINGE TO HAVE GRACE'S ARRIVAL ON CAMERA... I CAN NOT PROMISE-- THERE IS ALOT TO ORGANIING A SPLIT SECOND FILMING....-- DROVE ME NUTS FOR YEAARS.... I WOULD GET A REQUEST " I NEED A DOG TO COME ONTO THE WSET AND BARK" SSO I WOU LD SHOW UP WITH A DOG WHO WOULD BARK ON COMMAND--- SO HELP ME... THIS IS TRUE... I HAD TEH DOG COME ON SET AND BARK... AND THE DIRECTOR SAID TO ME..." I NEED THE DOG TO BARK ¼ SECOND SOONER"
THIS CAMERA STUFF CAN GET PRETTY PICKY... THERE WAS ANOTHER SHOT FOR HOUGHTON MIFFLIN-- DOG SITTING ON THE STEPS OF A SCHOOL ( IN RHODE ISLAND-- I BORROWED "CONNIE THE CORGI"-)-- ON A SET IT IS A RULE THAT ONLY TEH ANIMAL HANDLER IS ALLOWED TO HANDLE THE ANIMALS-- FOR GOOOD REASON... THE DIRECTOR WANTED CONNIE TO SIT ONE INCH CLOSER TO THE KID- SHE WAS A SMALL DOG- HE WANTED HIS WAY QUICKLY SO HE PICKED HER UP AND SHE WENT THRU HIS THUMB WITH A QUICK BITE. I COULD ONLY SMILE AS WE MOPPED UP BLOOD EVERYWHERE....
CONNIE WAS A PERFECTLY TRAINED DOG... NOW THAT DIRECTOR IS BETTER TRAINED.. HOW MUCH BETTER IS THAT TRAINING THAN TO SIT AROUND A TABLE AND DISCUSS THE MERITS OF HAVING AN ANIMAL HANDLER ON SET. HE LEARNED QUICK !
***
I USED CONNIE ALOT--- EVEN AT 16 YEARS OLD AND DEAF, SHE COULD COMMUNICATE -- AND LOVEDD WORKING.....THE BEST ONE SHE DID WAS.... WITHOUT A BREAK IN THE ROLL.... PICK UP A NEWSPAPER, JUMP UP PN A CHAIR AND PUT IT IN THE BARREL LABLELED PAPER, THE BOTTLE IN THE "GLASS" AND A SODA CAN IN THE "CANS" -- WITH ME OFF CAMERA POINTING TO THE CORRECT TRASH CAN....
THE ONLY ONE SHE "FAILED" ON WAS-- THEY WANTED HER TO JUMP UP ON A DINING ROOM TABLE AND STEAL A TURKEY LEG AND RUN OFF WITH IT.. WHICH SHE DID... ONCE... ACTUALLY TWICE....... WE HAD 2 TRYS AND THEN HAD TO GO WITH A FAKE TURKEY LEG. SHE WAS A BITER-- AND THAT LEG WAS HER'S - I KNEW BETTER THAN TO TRY AND GET IT FROM HER..
GREAT DOG...

And another positive about the things we learn from Crazy Acres...another dog's life was saved because of something I learned at the farm.
Everyone at work comes to me as a "dog expert" though I'm very clear with them that I am far from it. Anyway, a co-worker has a mastiff puppy that she was intending to show & breed. She called me over last week to ask my opinion. The puppy is 9 months old and had finished her first heat. About a week later she started dripping red again. I told her to watch her very carefully and any odd behavior-vomiting-diarrhea-seeming out of it-get her to the vet immediately because it could be pyometra. It was. They got her into surgery in time and she should make a full recovery.
