march 17 2015
i know we are only allowed to mention one ailment and one medication  per day around here-- otherwise the conversation around here  would sound like a pharmisist's coinvention.....   so mine toiday... comes from my overnight tv show...

"how do they make it"  on the science channel ( for some reason fios no longer has a weather channel -- cancelled because it was too political??)

my observation --- if necessity is the mother of invention-- closely followed by  mr murphy and his law... i want to know who had the headache so bad that caused them to gnaw on the bark of a tree and then invent asprin?

  closely followed by...
who had so little to do that they discovered they could stretch worm spit the legnth of a football field to make silk...-- talk about unemployment !!

it does seem that  unemployment is also the opportunity to have the time to observe your surroundings and define a need and fill it, instead of cursing the fact that you no longer have to sit in traffic for hours to get to a job you weren't thrilled with anyway.  so i  am back to ken robinson's lecture on  creativity  ( in the TED lecture series)

some may argue that  college/university is supposed to give you time to ponder the universe and question "facts"  but i am afraid college is better prepared to teach people to sit in the freezing cold , swigg beer and yell at quarterbacks. .. which i put in the same catagorie as studying worm spit.

i know we have new people whjo may not have listened to the TED  creativity lecture. by ken robinson( british) . i just went out to be able to provice a link- and found he now has more lectures and i had to listen to one..
http://www.pbs.org/wnet/ted-talks-education/speaker/ken-robinson/    ......where he gets into" leadership in education  is not command and control  it is creating the climate for education"

the man is a born commedian who does some serious thinking...it is fine british humor with a knife. "how can you say the british are reserved, we have invaded every country we ever went to".  his side remarks will make you laugh outloud- and the rest  will make  you think.
ADHD--- "you can not take a child and make them sit for hours doing menial paperwork and not have them fidgit.. it is not adhd.. it is childhood".

now i have been sidetrqcked long enough listening to his creative lecture again..  he reduces the nativity scene created by a bunch of 7 year olds.."i bring you gold" " i bring you mehr" ... "frank sent this."

those ted lectures are  worth the 20 minutes...  mike rowe ( dirty jobs) is another great one.

huge celebrationtoday--  to celebrate the grant, i have goen and purchased a new refrigerator before we p[oizon each other with the green goo in the back of these hselves..

when we have to shift from one to the new... the chickens will feast !!

julia has arrived-- delightful person.. now locked in the guest house where we have threaened her husband not to speak to the dog-- ethyl-

she is wheelchair bound  but can get shifted  aroiund by golf cart and light chair.
i did have an email from someone who thought it terrrible to have ethly pull a chair...  they must have been remembering  dog sled racing or some such pulling event... i can- and will today just so i can prove it..... pull her wheelchair with my llitle finger... besides ethyl loves to pull megan's chair .. and megan  is....... not the size of julia.. so please....pulling is not slavery... ethyl loves it.
megan was also sick yesterday..

kati reported perfect george at school-- once he saw what he was to do he does it.. bingo...
it is really a case of "show me how not to get in trouble and i will be thrilled."
dogs do like direction.  they do not like being confused...

and tehy often have trouble with confused owners-- but that is another topic

Hi Carlene & Gang,

It's Kathy Gardner and Dory checking in from Concord New Hampshire. Dory has been an absolute joy to have in the house. She is very helpful around the house, especially when using the stairs. She makes them much easier and safer to navigate.

We recently went on vacation to Key West Florida. Despite travel nightmares on each end of the trip, she was perfectly well behaved. I think she did better than I did!! I was certainly glad she was there, I think she made me calm when I would have lost it. After when commented how well behaved she was, so my thanks to Megan and Katie and anyone else involved in her training. She is truly special, and I am so grateful to the SDP!!

Warm Regards,

Kathy & Dory ( and JJ)
