most amazing news was yesterday there was no mail-- not even any boxes... first time in over a year
so we were forced to sit around and eat those cookies from hawaii and get very fat.
today i wil go to costco and buy one of those fruit trays in an effort.......
we... shelia and i..... managed a healthy lunch at the deli in danvers... tuesday is bbq beef day ... so we did that.
i then had bbq beef for supper-- then at midnight a snack--- and there is still some left for breakfast.
***********
except today we will be short handed-- megan's sister is having a baby-- i guess megan's experience in standing around saying "PUSH" for scarlott will come in handy??????
*******
now... i may not have the exact details correct... but... this part is..
i have a farmer friend who works at the turkey farm "preparing" turkeys for market.. and she said she buys a frozen one....
that is true-- and i now do also.. her reason being they start preparing the "fresh killed" 3 weeks ahead of t/tday so a "fresh one" could actually be 3 weeks old...
i am sure the our taxes which support the FDA mean they are on top of it... in the meantime i will do what she does.
and we will be cooking a turkey here for any of the regular volunteers-- it is a regular day for us-- the dogs all need the usual care...
and bud got the big beautiful stove in the t tent working yesterday
paul celebrated and ate a reheated hot dog.

thank heavens valerie bailed me out with her arrow report...-- come on the rest of you-- these reports are th epay checks for the volunteers who have worked so hard to get your dog to you.... surely you could spend a few minutes typing an email... sending stuff to facebook does not count.. i need email form...
Carlene,
November 2nd marked the five year anniversary of my coming home with Arrow. He
was a 15 month old 140 pound black and white pup with a blaze on the back of his
neck in the shape of an arrow. I'm sure he was wondering where the heck he was
going on the long car ride to Virginia. Needless to say, he has settled in
nicely, and now I can't imagine my life without him. He has added 30 pounds and
is a show stopper wherever we go. I love how he brings the people we meet a
sense of awe and invariably a smile, which makes me smile too. But what I love
the most is how much he helps me with my walking. I can navigate around the
house without him, but if I go any distance I need his support to go in a
straight line and not weave. He comes in handy other times as well.
One evening about a week ago he and I walked to a local farmers' market. On our
way home it got dark quickly. We were walking through a park when I twisted my
ankle on the uneven ground and took a gentle tumble. Arrow came in front of me
so I could use him to get up. I got in a kneeling position, put one hand on his
withers and the other on his rump and was able to push myself up to a standing
position. He has come to my rescue like this several times before.
Countless times Arrow has prevented me from falling at all, usually when I've
tripped on uneven sidewalks. Another way he helps me by is giving me an
absolute sense of security going down steps that otherwise I wouldn't dare try
to negotiate on my own. Before MS caused my legs to be weak and effected my
balance, I never appreciated how many steps had no handrails. They are
everywhere!
In two weeks Arrow and I will be attending an MS fundraising dinner with about
250 guests. I will have the honor of giving a speech about my life with MS.
Arrow will be at my side, and he''ll figure prominently in my presentation.
Bless all of you at SDP who work so tirelessly and lovingly with the dogs. They
are a gift of a life with smiles, confidence and security.
THANK YOU!
Valerie from Virginia
