APRIL 18, 2013

just when you think the news can't get any worse... it does

i hate to think we had "just " an explosion-- but the texas town has not only an explosion- but one that ruined the air quality- fumes that stay down instead of blowing up and away- involving nursing homes and appartment building - get all the people out and away in a cattle building - now the weather is forcasted to get nasty with lightning and a change of wind direction- so everyone has to run the other direction to escape the fumes while being outdoors in the lightning. as they await a second explosion??

i had to end up watching the weather channel.

to expand on the concept of miserable situations--- picking up poo certainly could be in that catagorie if you let it get there..--

first of all you have to have good equipment-- and i thought our 3 X 6 cardboards were the living end... until one of you "camera people" began to write funny things on the back of them

GO NUPPIES

HAPPY PICKINGS

HUG A DOG

HERE'S LOOKING AT YOU

IT ADDS THAT LITTLE SOMETHING THAT MAKES AN DISAGREEABLE JOB PLEASENT..... a smile....

i finally got both the time and an email to have it register just who is involved with this October doggiefest- and have begun to take note.

i remember someone came up woith the bed ad breakkfest idea for the fri/sat part... i put someone here in charge-- and promptly forgot who-- time has come to get that project off the ground before all these people book rooms.

and theresa.. that hotel on the hill-- might see what they would charge if we suggested people go there with an unknown but possible crowd of 50 ... if it was cheap enough could be more... you speak their language-- have at them... if they can match the lower price of the motels down the pike it would be a good deal.. and teh closest hotel

you would think i knew their name... well.... it was ferncroft and sheraton.. and i did hear it is now another. othere than conventions it is usually empty.

i have called the fair and the parade manager was off for a couple days but i would think it was certain that they would welcome our dizzy collection of dogs and people + mary... they always have been glad to see us

with the fire engines in the front--

maybe the end could be 2 people drive mary in her "half fast fire department" getup---- would be amusing.. to be continued... the parade is at 9 am on the Saturday morning

********************

i think i am going to try a new chore for a volunteer.. take a box of the milkbones and go into all the buildings and give each dog a cookie..

take a pencil and paper and if there is anything i should know about--- make note -- and i will deal when you return the box of milkbones.

you can not check enough-- ?water//heat??fluffy??happy??

maria was here last night with her kids-- there was zero confusion

they came--- they saw---- they ate-- and went to bed.. and one stayed up all night while maria dozed.... and the place is spotless

albert is coming about 10 for more intro training. doing really well - pretty soon i will start sending him on errands for practice. like "go to th e supermarket and buy some ready made red jello" perfectly good training trip... and something a lot of these guys don't readily do without a dog.

he has to discover things about being in public with a dog-- like always give a person the dog's wrong name-- because regardless of who says what the general public with then use the name as they pat the dog right over the patch that says do not pat the dog.

***************
it would be nice today to get some lime spread all over the place-- i think we got 40 bags yesterday-- i asked for some and i did see the truck come in.- we have a screwballed hookup that goes on the back of the durango that spreads pretty well teh bigger areas... and it is going to rain tomorrow to wash it in... a bit

****

and then there is the manure pile-- time to take it out back-- and bring the outback aged pile to a location closer to where we need it... for top dressings--

what was grass is in tough shape this year.-- and lord knows we have top soil-- big time... and that flat field looks soooooo nice when mowed.

finally
i would like it to be known that the stuff labeled "bratwurst" from omaha steak is not too bad..
