HOW  DO WE CLEAN DOGS?... GOOD TOPIC TO STAY AWAY FROM THE NEWS FOR A WHILE----

FIRSTLY CHOOSE A BREED WITH SHORT HAIR---- AND EVEN BETTR NO  "UNDERCOAT"
IN MY  MIND - WHICH IS OFTEN SHODDY....-- THERE ARE 4 KINDS OF DOG HAIR---SLICK ( DANES)-- KINKY (POODLES) ---SLIPPERY( COCKERS AND COLLIES) -- EXTRA PADDING( HUSKY GERM SHEPHARD.)
***

THE BASIC FOR CLEANLINESS--  AND IT TOOK ME ABOUT 60 YEARS TO FIGURE THIS OUT-- WHICH I DID LEARN FROM MEGAN... COMPULSIVE CLEANINESS---
-WASH THIER BEDDING !!!  OFTEN, IF NOT SOONER !!!
OUR HOUSE-- WITH OR WITHOUT PUPPIES  DOES NOT SMELL--- ( AND THERE ARE PEOPLE COMING AND GOING WHO WOULD TELL US IF IT DID) ---  WHATEVER DOGS WALK IN  THEY WILL CARRY IN  ON THEIR FEET ONTO THEIR SLEEPING ( OR YOUR COUCH).  BEING AWARE OF THAT  TOOK ME YEARS TO LEARN...POO PICKING IS ESSENTIAL-- AND OUR POO PICKERS HAVE TOBE TEH MOST EFFECTIVE/EASIEST TO COPE WITH  IN YOUR BACK POCKET...--- MY PARENTS JUST CONSIDERED TEH DOGS SLEEPING AREA DIRTY AND LET IT GO AT THAT--  FLEAS WERE JUST A WAY  OF LIFE TOO  -- DOGS HAD THEM --PERIOD.
IT IS DIFFERENT NOW...  GEORGE MYERS TAUGHT ME THAT TOO.  IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE...

DANE TYPE HAIR IS THE EASIEST TO KEEP CLEAN- BUT IF YOU NEED A COAT-- SO DO THEY-- WHICH FOR A SERVICE DOG IS NOT A PROBLEM-- I FEEL TERRIBLE FOR THE  GREYHOUNDS WHO WOULD FEEL SO MUCH BETTER WITH EVEN A GARBAGE BAG AS A WINDBREAKER IN THE COLD..  DANES DO WELL WITH AN OCASSIONAL BRUSHING.. IF WE NEED TO REMOVE STAIN- THERE IS A WATERLESS SHAMPOO-- AND PROBABLY HYDROGEN PEROXIDE MIGHT WORK TOO.  - MOST EVERYTHING ELSE FALLS OFF.

HAVING A NEWFOUNDLAND - OR SAINT---IN THE HOUSE IS NEARLY A FULL TIME JOB- THEY ARE DELIGHTED TO BE OUT IN THE COOL.COLD... THEN THERE IS TEH GERMAN SHEPHARD KIND OF HAIR STUFF... TOP COAT AND FUZZY UNDERCOAT WHICH PROTECTS THEM GREATLY---   YOU DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND THAT DOUBLE COAT TIL YOU TRY AND SHAMPOO THEM AND GET THE SHAMPOO OUT....  WATER IS INCLINED TO  RUN OFF THAT TOP COAT AND NOT MUCH GETS TO THE SKIN WITH OUT A BIT OF EFFORT---- THE CORGI- ANOTHER FAVORITE OF MINE--- BIG DOG ON SHORT LEGS...---- HAS THAT SAME COAT--  THEN TO THE LAB--- ALL THOSE REQUIRE A GREAT VACUUM CLEANER...

THE KINKY ARE ?LESS INCLINED ? TO BE ALERGY PRODUCING  -- POODLES AIREDALES SCHNAAUSSERS THINGS LIKE THAT---  THEIR WHATEVER COMES OFF IN CLUMPS AND GROOMING A POODLE IS NOT JUST  WEIRD, YOU HAVE TO DO THAT---ALL THAT POMPOM STUFF IS NOT NECESSARY - IT IS POSSIBLE TO CUT IT ALL 1/2 INCH LONG AND THEY LOOK LIKE A REGULAR DOG. POODLES GROW FUZZ IN  THEIR EARS, AND I REMEMBER HAVING TO PULL MOST  OF IT OUT OR YOU COULD GROW MUSHROOMS IN THERE.

AND THEN LONG SLIPPERY KIND-- COLLIES -- COCKERS--  GOLDENS...THEIR HAIR SEEMS TO COLLECT EVERYTHING  FROM SMALL TWIGS TO  THE ODOR OF THE LOCAL PIZZA JOINT...SO THEY NEED ATTENTION FAIRLY  REGULARLY... AND SOME OF THOSE ARE ALERGIC TO SOME MEDS-- IF YOU HAVE A COLLIE, READ LABELS.

THOSE ARE SOME OF THE  REASONS  I HAVE DANES'

ACTUALLY .. TEH WORLD'S MOST LABOR INTENSIVE "COAT"  WAS A LLAMA WE HAD-- EDWIN--- TO GET HIM CLEANED UP FOR A PERFORMANCE REQUIRED GALLONS OF  SOAP,  4 STRONG PEOPLE, WELDING GLOVES AND A LEAF BLOWER TO DRY HIM OFF.
A FAR CRY FROM THE  DONKEY... OF WHICH WE HAD MANY..
EXPERIENCE COMES FROM BAD EXPERIENCES.

NOW TO GO SEE ABOUT  THE VOTING
ONE THING SEEMS CLEAR TO ME...
PRESIDENT  OBAMA HAS SUCH A KEEN WIT AND IS A  GREAT SPEAKER, HE COULD HAVE A WONDERFUL FUTURE AS A JOHNNY CARSON TYPE.
