Strawberry PYE !  THANK YOU Carolyn..... not only for the pie but for the brilliant accidental million dollar idea--

How often have I written about brilliant ideas  that are most often totally accidental and the only genius part comes from recognizing what someone like Goldie is trying to tell you ---in this case it was strawberry pie that hit the mark..  Carolyn sent it from that Gold Belly outfit. Which ships all kind of food in dry ice or whatever so that it does arrive frozen ----then Elizabeth suggested we just put it in the refrigerator let it thaw out naturally.. which was fine until I needed a snack at bed time.. so I got out that pie which was still so frozen that I bent one knife and broke two forks chipping out about a one inch cube.

It wasn't till midnight that  I noticed all I had to do was think of that pie and I did not have the dry mouth so often associated with cpap machines.. A  1 inch cube of that strawberry pie was enough of classical conditioning to mean that five hours later all I had to do was think about the pie and I was salivating  like pavlov;s dog...--- or as well as any Great Dane expecting a cookie. so to further my scientific discovery it's now about 6:00 in the morning and that one inch cube of that strawberry pie is still working very nicely. And boy could that be considered a natural cure. I bet that pie would work for more than 24 hours--- I'll leave experimenting to all of you camera people and then get yourselves together and market it and make $1,000,000. I had a very busy night of screwball ideas so I'll have to leave that for you folk.

My other two ideas are also going to require considerable brain power... not me.... I'm just the idea person-

Well.   I can't drive my golf cart to the front door here it is too complicated and the step up and in or out of the front door is over 12 inches so that's not gonna work.. but if I drive my golf cart to the side of the building there are great possibilities. There is a window between the washing machine and the composting toilet..  it's a big window 36 inches.. so if that was made into a 30 inch door.. I could step out of my golf cart and not have the complications of the usual front door.

and to test this theory..... my father's woodworking project from shop class in about 1910--was my old table in my previous life ---in the normal house..  and whoever thinks that's a normal house should let me know because I have a bridge in New York to sell you. ---  I would like to try pulling my golf cart next to the building and see if I could get my groceries on my fathers woodworking project..  then go inside the house open the window and get the groceries---  that would make that  a DPW  window.  (delivery  of pizza  window)... Making this cabin perfect senior residence  until about Christmas blizzard time which I think I should just move South where both Sandy and my two children are until about March 15th
My third idea i am unwilling to share until i get the opinion of Bud and Nick.

Problems sometimes take creative planning.

“If you can’t be a window, be a door !”  ( somebody in my past did say that to me.  Must have been Halloween costume time??)

todays poetry-- thanks to donald swann and michale flanders.
January brings the snow
Makes your feet and fingers glow
February's ice and sleet
Freeze the toes right off your feet
Welcome March with wintry wind
Would thou wert not so unkind
April brings the sweet Spring showers
On and on for hours and hours
Farmers fear unkindly May
Frost by night and hail by day
June just rains and never stops
Thirty days and spoils the crops
In July the sun is hot
Is it shining? No, it's not
August cold and dank and wet
Brings more rain than any yet
Bleak September's mist and mud
Is enough to chill the blood
Then October adds a gale
Wind and slush and rain and hail
Dark November brings the fog
Should not do it to a dog
Freezing wet December then
Bloody January again
January brings the snow
Makes your feet and fingers glow

“ life is a thing without a head---

 a puzzle never understood,

and man proceeds where he is lead ,

Unguarenteed of  bad or good.” ***********Thanks to ??Yul Brynner?

Judy and I were once organized to  see assisted living  in Newburyport, Amesbury and Salsbury while picking up hay – also in Salsbury   ----- and places like that up north......we  picked up hay once a week or so and we kept going with hay and we had 100  people visited per week and everything was organized

now we have a whole lot of requests for  visits in Peabody --Danvers and places like that which is the wrong direction --- south---for the hay project... so now I have I am told only 18 bales of hay left in our hay loft.  and virtually none left at meridith..

SOOOOOO. Today we go to Newburyport assisted living for 1:00 to 3pm  with donkey or something.... right direction... wrong trailer—it is full of trash at the moment... and it is supposed to thunderstorm at noon== covered trailer would mean we could pick up a few bales this morning.... —. Carlies horse trailer is full of colby’s furnature yet to go to maine.... And  my covered trailer is  a “shortened variety “  --4’tall.  for mini donkeys- making hay loading difficult.... for tall people

The only good thing is Judy does have the correct license plate on it --- for the first time in ... maybe years????—

Sooo next huge question....... I saw the mini horse and donk jump out of the tall horse trailer’s front door........... BUT DO THEY JUMP BACK IN IT ???? BECAUSE IF WE PICK UP HAY  this morning .. before rain/ thunder....  WHILE THEY ARE “LOADED” THE HAY WILL BE IN THE BACK...—SO OUT THE front DOOR IS NO P[ROBELM.  For our 1:00 date at the assisted living place by the hospital....BUT IF THEY REFUSE TO GET BACK IN. at 3pm...during thunder..... WE ARE STUCK holding donkey   in the pouring rain ---- while...MOVING HAY WHILE BENT OVER???.

So if we have slightly screwed up mail call today--- and actually for a few more days....  please bear with us—and terrific thanks for the  many who have done either or both the hay and Goldy fundraising boards--- without those we might have to hitch hike besides....

My mind is flying after one very peaceful night in my new accommodations of the guest house ====it was wonderful and one thing permanently in my mind was how necessary people are who can figure out what to do when the churn paddle sticks

That expression probably needs  explanation for all you young folk but it used to be if you wanted some butter on your toast you first went out and milked the cow let it sit for a while so the cream came to the top take the cream off and put it in a butter churn where you slapped it around for a while and separated the butter from some very diluted looking skim milk and then put it on your toast------ but there were times when that butter churn wouldn't  churn.... And you either had to fix it yourself or locate the nearest person with the capability of churn paddle fixing...

I am delighted to say with this move of all my belongings across the driveway that goldys  acres is now inhabited or at least associated with a fine group of churn paddle fixers..

here I am in my new abode with an impossibly heavy desk... and even heavier cast iron full-sized cooking stove.. an odd thing or two that I just couldn't possibly live without like 3 great Danes and a cash register that has to weigh 2 or 300 pounds,, however this crew which has been amassed by Janine and her equine rescue network is an exceptionally fine group of people. Wallace. the ex bull rider now horse trainer put together someone to help him help us.... I always love watching people work as you all know and I watched these two people Wallace and friend figure out how to take the cast iron stove apart and how to put it back together again.... Flawlessly I might add...  Then after they had finished up and gone off down the driveway I found that Wallace's helper was indeed his father---who was the guy I've been waving at so many mornings as I go over to help feed animals at the Meredith farm. apparently "father Wallace". is the Super duper Stonewall builder responsible for the absolutely gorgeous stone walls at Meredith farm. well he gets my approval too with his cast iron stove puzzle.

Also have to admit that Elizabeth  who is obviously slightly nutty,  Is also extremely efficient and on top of that she had the good judgment to pick a husband who is exceedingly clever on  impossible puzzles also from my chair to the Internet to assembling a broken futon..

So if I was running a college here let's call it goldys College of Hard Knocks( whose colors are black and blue).  I would award the degree of. ,,, CPF,.... For them to put after their names to identify them as legitimate churn paddle fixers.

Now to enlighten you further and I don't know this for an absolute fact but they are all foreign born/educated. and at least one of them told me he could not vote because he was a green card.... darn !!

To continue that concept=== Janine just got back from South Carolina where she had taken a lot of furniture to put in her new house in Aiken... and she got all the way down to a huge dresser when she met her new neighbours..   she has not developed a system of Wallace types down in Aiken yet... but her assessment of neighbors is what can they lift and are they willing.... she said  these two neighbors the husband was huge and strong and the wife weighed about 100 pounds and she was worried about that except the woman apparently has a horse and can easily lift 45 pound Bale of hay so she is absolutely thrilled with her neighbors who helped her move furniture in

somebody gave me a poem which I just found in moving ====all about-- there are lifters and leaners and I will read that next time I get a chance at mail call--- I loved it.  “ for every lifter there are 20 leaners”  ...

plus...  there are a few others to give degeres to.... sandy may have that degree also...

I know Halloween is coming... because. Costco got out the Christmas lights !! did I read somewhere that Halloween was the second most profitable for stores??

Welllllllllllll. Let me try and cut that down with a piece of information gained in my advancing years...

Halloween being the time of year when it becomes necessary to  turn your child or your dog into a. Unicorn. or helicopter ... And there is no point going to the store and spending money on a costume when the basis of it is so easy and cheap

if you take 2 cheap (free)  white coat hangers... must be white,----and cut off the hooks...heavy duty pliers usually work...

then sitting in a chair.. take the first and balance it on your left leg... stabilize it with your right hand .. and with the left , bend it around your thigh—then stabilize it with your left hand and bend the right portion straight up... set aside... now do the second one by balancing on your right leg and bending down and up like you did the other... now with a little turning you can match them up and fix them together with electrical tape--- for the moment--- and you have the frame for attaching this to the child's head and tying it with a piece of string underneath the chin sort of like an abbreviated football helmet .. this can be improved by wrapping a sock very tightly around the wires and wrapping even tighter with electrical tape ( which comes colored) ----- from donkey ears to airplane wings, the most amazing things can be attached... and generally that “helmet” will stay on the dog or child without falling or hindering them in any way

historically, I have had. 8 dane pups wearing those helmets all at once to protect their ears... it does work

stay tuned- next week—pipe cutting and bending--- for costume use...

p.s. i think this is heavy duty furnature moving day... wooowowowowooo. wallace and friends?????

27+61+22= more than 100 smiling seniors.... last week. I feel better after 2 weeks of 88—and the big surprise was the mini horse and spotted donkey--- we have some organization to do.... once all set up... it is a shoe in. a drop by easy on off.......  but the details ----YUCK ! like size of wrench to do and undo the bumper carrier and / or change from hay trailer to donkey trailer... for want of a wrench we could not take the “hooved stock” to Peabody. Which had ample parking ( our other. large consideration...). and such a hit !!.

It sure is...

for want of a nail the shoe was lost

for want of a shoe the horse was lost

then rider.. then battle

then whole kingdom

details details. –

I stopped at ira Toyota to see my 2 friends there in the service department... nick was out—but I asked about maybe be bringing the trailer with donkeys in to get our wiring straightened out...? a loose donkey???  .. they did not think it would be as nice as the dogs.... no fun at all... so I’ll just take the car--- with using it nearly daily and having to swap balls and elect it should be easier than crawling under and having blinkers not work... gotta fix...

Ease of operation... like watering the dogs--- so many cookies--- so little water--- I want to redo the back window with a bucket or two and carry gallons there... maybe cover the tailgate with a towel???

Some how... more water is needed. Especially since hotter weather.

I should write my own. “ for want of a screw driver......” or better ----“ a Phillips head” nearly everything is easy if all the equipment is in a state of readiness—like the fire department.

Speaking of fire department... and first responders..

If I initiate my life alert—and they call the first responders...... hands up for anyone who would want to be the first thru the door to be greeted by a confused jiminey, larkey and sizzle?   That is just one more detail that got mixed up when I was not allowed to move to the laundry building.. once there I would have had someone in the upstairs to straighten out the dogs if I push the button... as they would have heard the thing going off in the first place...

The guest house is not quite so well suited... but having someone ( eliz) in the house and (carley)apartment does help.. but another detail--- can’t get janne back from south Carolina or Hamilton mass fast enough... to stop a mixed up larkey....

Master plans need master mining
