SEPT 11 2017
HOLY COW-- THE 11TH...  WITH DOGFEST THE  23rd?-- SO MUCH TO DO... .. WHAT ON EARTH AM I THINKING.. ALL I DO IS RIDE AROUND ON A GOLF CART AND SMILE AT EVERYONE - WHO AM I KIDDING?  ( HOPEFULLY EVERYONE)
WELL YESTERDAY ------ AT  SUNDAY STEW-- I WAS  REEEEEEALLY HAPPY ABOUT  WHAT WE ARE DOING... STEVE AND MEGAN ARE TURNING OUT WONDERFUL DOGS... DOING MORE THAN GREAT WORK.... WHICH .. EVEN THO I CARRY THE TITLE AS MASTER TRAINER,  WHAT HAS ACTUAY HAPPENED IS ... WELL... I HAVE TRAINED THOSE 2 TRAINERS VERY WELL... SO ALL I HAVE TO DO IS SIT AROUND AND EAT ALL THE FOOD PEOPLE BRING ON SUNDAY FOR  "POT LUCK" ---- BETWEEN A POT FULL OF SAUSAGE AND BEANS  MIXTURE AND CREAM CHEESE ICING ON PUMPKIN CAKE WE DID PRETTY WELL.

A NEW "GROUP' ARRIVED.. FOR SUNDAY STEW.... I NEVER DID FIGURE OUT WHY IT WAS A GROUP... ONE FEMALE  PERSON  WITH A WALKER.. ONE GUY  IN BLUE JEANS AND 2 OTHER GIRLS/WOMEN.... THE PERSON WITH THE WALKER WANTS A DOG--  -- SHE WAS MINCING ALONG WITH  A SECOND PERSON KEEPING THE WALKER FROM SCOOTING  AHEAD OF HER DOWN THE HILL.. SO I SUGGESTED  HALF WAY DOWN THE HILL FROM THE HOUSE- THAT SHE TRY HOLDING THE GUY'S BACK POCKET-TEH WISER WAY WOULD HAVE BEEN TO GET ON THE FLAT SURFACE FIRST... HOWEVER... OPPORTUNITY BEING WHT IT IS... SHE GRABBED ON , HUNG ON.. AND WAS THRILLED TO MAKE IT ALL THE WAY TO THE T TENT....  STANDING UP STRAIGHT-- GOING FASTER THAN WALKER SPEED... MUCH EASIER.. SMILIG LAUGHING... AND EVEN BETTER, SHE HAD ONE HAND WITH WHICH SHE COULD GESTICULATE --  BEING OF MEDETERAININA ORIGIN, SHE WAS DELIGHTED TO BE SO EXPRESSIVE....

NOW THERE IS ONE BENIFIT TO  HAVING A SERVICE DOG AS OPPOSED TO A WALKER THA T I HAD NOT THOUGHT OF.    SO THE 5 OF US SAT AROUND AND TALKED IN THE T TENT.. AND AS SHE TALKED ABOUT VARIOUS PROBLEMS SHE WAS HAVING  WITH HER PK TYPE NEURO... I TALKED ABOUT THE HANGING ROPES I HAVE ALL OVER THE PLACE -- WHCH I -- AND OTHERS-. USE CONSTANTLY FOR BALANCE---  SHE REFERRED TO  GETTIONG INA AND OUT OF THE SHOWER AND ROLLING OVER IN BED.... BOTH PLACES I HAVE A  FAT COTTON ROPE TO HANG ON AND PULL.. WE WENT ON .. ABOUT A ROPE IN THE KITCHEN AT LEAST GAVE YO ONE HAND FREE AS YOU WORK AROUND.....SHE SAID  THE INFORMATION  SHE ALREADY GOT  ON  "GRABASS AND  ROPE SWINGING"  TO MAKE HER LIFE EASIER WAS WORTH THE TRIP... EVEN BEFORE WE TALKED ABOUT A DOG...  I WAS HAPPY ABOUT  THAT...

SHE WAS AN IDEAL CANDIDATE WITH HER "HEY I COULD....." ATTITUDE--- AS OPPOSED TO " I CAN'T BECAUSE I AM HANDICAPPED...." WHAT SOME OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE TO DEAL WITH  MAKES SOME OTHER APPLICANTS LOOK ... WELLLLLLL.... TROUBLE IS, I CAN NOT TELL YOU SOME OF THE REASONS PEOPLE THINK WE  SHOULD GIVE THEM A SERVICE DOG..I COULD NOT MAKE SOME OF THIS STUFF UP....   ...  MOST OF THE TIME IT GOES BACK TO SOME DOCTOR TELLING THEM THEY SHOULD BECAUSE THEY HAVE SOME MINOR AILMENT WITH A LATIN NAME.  THAT LATIN NAME DOES IT  !!!
****
I CAN TELL YOU FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE IT IS VERY POSSIBLE TO GET A DOCTOR TO SIGN A LETTER SUGGESTING YOU NEED A SERVICE DOG WHEN THAT DOCTOR DOES NOT HAVE A CLUE EVEN WHAT A SERVICE DOG DOES...   I KNOW THAT ONE FOR SURE.  IT IS THE MODERN EQUIVILANT TO MY LATE HUSBAND'S SOLUTION OF B12 SHOTS  "WHAT  AM I TO DO ...  THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT ( USUALLY OLDER)  WOMAN.....SHE  WANTS ME TO DO SOMETHING..  SO I LISTEN AND  GIVE   HER  A  A B12  SHOT...WON'T HURT... AND SHE  GOES  AWAY HAPPY"   I AM SAFE SAYING THAT BECAUSE IT WAS SO LONG AGO THERE CAN'T POSSLY BE ANY ISSUES.
NOW ADAYS.. "GO GET A DOG" IS OFTEN THE CASE. WHEN ACTUALLY GETTING A REGULAR DOG OUT OF THE RESCUE AND GETTING THE PERSON OUT OF THE HOUSE WALKING IS A GREAT START AT FEELNG BETTER...
PROBLEM  THERE IS... ANY WELL BEHAVED DOG IS A JOY TO OWN... A POORLY BEHAVED  DOG IS A PAIN IN THE NECK.
NOT UNLIKE CHILDREN........
******
MEGAN AND COLLEEN SHOULD BE BACK FROM  THE  "MOBILITY CONFERENCE...."   IN SANFRAN AS OF LAST NIGHT...I AM ANXIOUS TO HEAR THE EVENTS OF THE EPISODE...  6 HOUR FLIGHTS ARE TOUGH ONES TO ORGANIZE WITH A DOG....  AND I WONDER IF ALL THE PLANES BEING DIVERTED FROM FLORIDA'S IRMA SCREWED UP THE REST OF THE COUNTRY???
****
WE HAVE 3 LITTERS OF PERFECT AGE FOR ME TO VIDEO/ VOICE OVER  WHAT WE DO-- NOT THAT THIS IS THE PERFECT WAY... IT MIGH MAKE OTHERS THINK A BIT...  MAYBE THE VIDEOGRAPHER THAT IS  BETSY'S RELATIVE??????  BETSYYYYYYYY??????
*****
SPEAKING OF MAKING PEOPLE THINK..... I DID WATCH CNN'S  IRMA REPORT---AKA CHRIS CUOMO'S WET TEE SHIRT REPORT...
IT WAS ALSO AN ILLUSTRTION OF A GOVERNMENT WORKING VERY WELL. WEATHER REPORTING, COAST GUARD, FUEL DISTRIBUTION,  STUFF LIKE THAT....
NOW TO CLEAN UP THE MESS... ANYBODY ELSE WONDERING WHAT ... AS A NATION ... WE CAN POSSIBLY  DO WITH ALL THE TRASH BETWEEN HARVY AND IRMA????..

I KNOW-- AGAIN FROM A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH  KATRINA-- TRASH GOT TO BE A HUGE CONTROL ISSUE.. THEY ASKED FOR DUMP TRUCKS-- AND SOME WENT FROM HERE... BUT COULD NOT GET A "PERMIT" TO HELP...   SO CAME HOME...

Clark and I have been adjusting well to a new semester.  It takes us both a while to get used to a new routine.  I have an anatomy class this semester and do dissections in the class, so I was wondering if Clark would be bothered by the smells.  He's been great so far.  He just settles in for a nap most of the time.  Sometimes he perks his head up for a minute and watches the lecture as if he was a student in the class (this professor is very animated).

The other day we had a funny episode.  The professor put a dissected brain on the projector, which then appeared on the screen at the front of the class, about 12 feet tall.  The professor was pointing out parts of the brain that we needed to know, moving the brain around.  I think Clark thought the giant brain was going to come out of the wall and get him where he was next to me.  He squeezed himself behind my chair and stayed there the rest of the class!  I just had to laugh.  I can't imagine what he must have thought it was.

It feels like fall already here in Ohio, and the weather has been beautiful for walks around the neighborhood each day.  Over the summer, Clark and I started walking up one street (with a steep hill) that had previously been too hard for us.  It's not so much the going up that's difficult, as it is the coming down.  But, we've worked a lot, figured out the right pace and where the trouble spots are, and we walk up and down that hill nearly every day now!
