YESTERDAY---WHATA SHATTING DAY. HOTTER THN A NEWLY FLIPPED HAMBURGER..I SHOULD SAY AN "EARLY SANDY" FLIPPED HAMBURGER... SHE DID THE COOKING HONORS FOR MARK-- WHO BROUGHT THE SUPPLIES THEN LEFT TO GO TO A WEDDING IN CAMBRICGE. HE WAS THRILLED TO GO TO A "CITY HOT" WEDDING-- EARLY AFTERNOON.. WHICH STARTED GRACE AND I WONDERING WHY PEOPLE WHO WANT A JULY WEDDING DON'T HAVE THE CEREMONY AT 5AM-- EVEN IN TERRIBLY HOT WEATHER , AT 5AM IT IS LOVELY .. EGGS AND HOTCAKES FOR ALL AND BE DONE WITH THE PROCESS.... AND GO BACK TO THE BEACH.
IF YOU LIKE BEACHES... THEY ARE NOT MY FAVORITE- TREE HOUSES ARE MORE TO MY LIKING.... OR BREEZY TENTS -- WITH FANS ANS SPRAY BOTTLES-- TO REPLACE THE "MISTERS" WHICH ARE WONDERFULL OUTDOOR COOLING DEVICES IF YO HAVE THE MONEY... AND EH ENGINEERING EXPERISE TO KEEP THE FOOL THINGS RUNNING.... WE HAVE FOUND SIMPLE SPRAY BOTTLES AND A FAN IS A FAR BETTER SOLUTION...

I WAS VERY DISAPOINTED TO BE MINUS SO MANY OF THE REGULARS ON OUR MOST IMPROTANT DAY OF TEH MONTH-- SHATTING DAY. BUT THE TROOPS PULLED I T THRU... WE WERE MINUS MEGAN, LINDA, DEVEN, LAURA, TANNER AND BELLA . ALL AT ONCE.
AS I SAT--- I COULD ONLY BE THANKFUL FOR THE "PURPLE SHIRTS" WHO WERE SOAKING WET WHILE GETTING DONE WHAT NEEDED DOING..-- I HATE TO MENTION NAMES FOR FEAR I WILL GET THE NAMES WRONG... HOWEVER HALEY SEEMED TO BE WORKING VERY HARD IN THE BACKGROUND..AND PAM WAS DRENCHED AND VERY EFFICIENT. THE OLDER I GET , THE MORE I NEED NAMETAGS.
JANINE WAS HERE... ( HER NAME... I KNOW)... SHE TURENED ALL TEH DONKEYS OUT INHE YARD... THEY BOUNCED AROUND AND PROVICED GREAT ENTERTAINMENT--- AND TEHN THE CARROTS CAME OUT AND THEY STOPPED AND STOOD BEGGING . FORTUNATELY ( A DEFINITE GOLDIE MOMENT) A BUNCH FROM STATTEN ISLAND APPEARED WITH BASKETS OF REAL CARROTS--- YOU KNOW THE KIND WITH THE GREEN STUFF STILL ATTADHED.-- I EXPLAINED IT WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO OVERFILL A DONKEY WITH CARROTS ESPECIALLY MO... WHO'S NOSE WAS IN EVERY BASKET SHE COULD LOCATE. MO IS LOOKING MUCH BETTER.. WITH ANOTHER 200 POUNDS, SHE WILL BE QUITE THE LAWN ORNAMENT..***REPORT*** THE NEW BABY DONKEY THATJANINE WAS SO WORRIED ABOUT IN THAT LAST TRAILERFULL IS DOING VERY WELL AFTER JANINE, PETER AND WHOEVER HER VET NOW IS SPENT FROM MIDNIGHT TIL 3AM DRIPPING FLUIDS INTO THE BABY WHICH JANINE THOUGHT WAS DEAD-- BUT BY MORNING SHE HAD A VIDEO OF THE BABY CHASING AND PLAYING WITH PETER LIKE NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. BABY DONKEYS ARRE VERY LIKE PUPPIES IN GENERAL TEMPERAMENT... PLAYFUL PEOPLE ORIENTED.... NICE ANIMLAS.
I MOSTLY SAT AND MADE MONKEY FISTS....---WE FINALLY GOT OUT --- THE PIG---- FROM THE ARENA- "PIGGIE" IS AN OLD MERYGO ROUND PIG WHO HAS A HOLE IN HER BACK WHERE THE FANCY POLE USED TO GO .... WE MADE A "CONTAINER" OUT OF PVC.. WITH A SLOT... AND GOT OVER $200 IN DONATIONS !! GOOD GIRL THAT PIGGIE..!!!
** WE HAD A LOVELY COLLECTION OF WANDERERS MOST NOTABLY A FAMILY/GROUP FROM STATTEN ISLAND--N.Y.-----IT WAS NICE TO HEAR THAT NEW YORK ACCENT IN THE WILDS OF CRAZY ACRES.. I HOPE THEY STAY VERY ACTIVELY INVOLVED -THEY HAVE MUCH TO OFFER....2 STRONG YOUNG MEN, A BOY SCOUTTROOP AND I EWAS MOST FASCINATED BY TEH GUY WHO IS AN ENGINIEER ON NEW YORK'S BIG WHEEL. PROJECT ... WHICH I NEVER HEARD WAS UNDERWAY. THERE IS A T IME LAPSE VIDEO... WHICH WILL GET BETTER AS THEY GET "OFF THE GROUND" (GOOGLE IT )
I WAS TOLD--- AND MAY HAVE GOT IT TWISTED,( I WAS SO EXCITED BY THE PROJECT.....) THE NEW YORK WHEEL WILL BE OVER 600 FEET TALL, HAVE 36 "PODS" WHICH WILL CARRY 40 PEOPLE EACH-- THE HIGHEST IN THE WORLD ( UNTIL DUBAI BUILDS ONE...) WAY TO GO NEW YORK. !! .LEAVE IT TO NEW YORK TO HAVE ENOUGH UUMMMPH TO ENTERTAIN THE LUNATIC FRINGE WITH A FERRIS WHEEL.

Eve is not waking too much these days so I'll be calling to see if we can get some X-rays and see if it's time to fix some of the hardware in her legs. Because of Finn Eve has been able to do some walking for quite awhile in spite of the trouble she's been having in her legs! I am sure she would not have been walking at all if she didn't have Finn for the last couple months. It's amazing that he can help her stay strong and keep her upright for longer periods of time!!
We are so grateful for what Carlene does at SDP and all of the trainers, volunteers and of course the CPs and all who donate so that they can GIVE these dogs to the people who need them!
Eve had Finn have such a special bond and now, even though she isn't walking he is still assisting her. Together they are making nice progress in training Finn to help pull her wheelchair! Today we went all over Walmart with Eve in her chair and Finn at her side. They did it all without any help!!
I forgot to bring my phone in but I promise to get some video of it soon!

Ava has brought smiles to so many, from the eastern seaboard to the Blue Ridge Mountains. At first people only saw only a beautiful dog with impeccable manners, but then they saw that she keeps me upright and their mouths dropped. Many people have said they planned to go on the SDP website and that they looked forward to watching explore.com.
Ava made it possible to walk on the beach and to lighthouses, hike to a gorge in the mountains, and negotiate Washington DC. Poor Jim! Sometimes I had to remind him that he wasn't necessary, and that Ava did a better job. br>
Ava was a bit confused and nervous at first with so many new smells and people, but she settled into being a nomad and would “load up” quickly into her hammock bed with a cooling mat in “her” back seat.
Both CPs and strangers were surprised by the change in her demeanor when the vest goes on and off; how calm and happy she is in work mode. And how she is a shy but friendly dog who loves to play without it. br>
Thanks to Ava this was a great trip that we will always remember.
But a huge thank you to you, and everyone who helped to make Ava who she is! I was able to go places and see things that would not have been possible without her. She is such a blessing.
