GOOD MORNING, CARLENE!
IN REGARDS TO THE BOOK YOU MIGHT WRITE........THROUGH THE PAST FEW YEARS, I GONE THROUGH OLDER POSTS AND HAVE TAKEN SNIPPETS FROM THE DD AND PUT THEM ONTO A DOCUMENT THAT I CAN REFER TO AS I NEEDED FOR A QUICK REFERENCE IN TRAINING, ETC. MOST OF THE SNIPPETS ARE FROM OLDER DD POSTS. I ALSO HAD THE VISION OF BREEDING MY DANE, PENNI, SO I SNIPPED INFO REGARDING EARLY PUPPY RAISING.
I'VE ATTACHED THE DOCUMENT. SOME INFO IS FROM THE DD AND SOME FROM ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS I HAVE ASKED FROM EMAIL. YOU ARE A WEALTH OF INFORMATION, AND I THINK IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU COULD GET IT ALL DOWN IN A BOOK!!
HOPE THIS HELPS!!

hi tami--- with your name... havadane-- you aren't related to chromadane are you?
i have tried to contact chromadane looking for a black male pup-- she has great agility dogs and says she does service dogs, but maybe i have the wrong address... i get no response... she belongs to the GDCA i know the great dane club of amreica has never thought too highly of me--- they had their reasons--- but i was hoping sdp has gone beyond the usual complaints.
i sound like a very irresponsible breeder-- i do breed dogs which have not participated in the akc championship program-- to breed dogs without a CH in front of their names has been the breed program clubs way of limiting irresponsible breeding..Some people read about the huge price a perfectly marked harlequin dog will bring- and figure tehy can do that.- so they breed spots to spots and get all blacks or all merles and then can't sell them to people all set to deal with a dane...
long story......
i can't say i was alot different bqck when i bought "tiffany" from bmw kennel in long island... #1 akc dane kennel... i knew i could never afford to buy a lovley harl so i bought her --- a mantle/ - and laura--- the BMW kennel owner- bred her for me...what i didn't realize was that laura had intended to sell all the pups and give me ½ the money without letting me keep even one pup - possession is 9/10th the law... so i kept them all... and she kept all the paperwork... so i was on my way with unregistered danes... but beautiful.
this was many years ago--?1988? and as i wandered the midwest--kansas etc--- looking for our donkey MARY.... i found many people would happliy sell me papers to go with my litter of "unregistered " pups. i did not go that road- not because of any moral committment, i saw the whole akc papers system as basically flawed. and began to argue with akc that breeding dogs be DNA tested...
AKC FINALLY DID OFFER DNA TESTING for $40-- and i assumed it was to determine paternity.i paid many $40 fees-- then i got into a situation where 2 males had covered one female without my blessing- and i wanted to know which was the father of a specific pup ( each pup has one father.... but you realize a littter of pups can have more than one father) i tested the 2 males and the one pup and akc showed either could have been th e father... the pro bability of that is astroniomical-- so i called akc... turns out teh dna test for paternity was $120 per dog-- my disappointment was large....and i quit trying to behave---
i had good dogs. i knew that...and if everyone wanted me to get blue ribbons to prove that, so be it.... i went to the ribbon store and bought 100 blue ribbons for 15 cents each.. a wonderful deal when-- to get the CH in front of you r name by going to dog shows was costing up to $60,000. i was not popular--so when it came to breed a female, no legitimate AKC breeder would let me use their stud... with the exception of one woman in new york.. bless her.. said for $1000 i could use her "earl"... so i bred mabliine to her "earl" way down there at the bottom of our " sdp TREE" - but ater that , in an effort not to breed related dogs, i got going with the foriegn bloodlines .. deagle from belgium, mr adams from canada... bobby from budapest and now walter from denmark...
so i am persona non grata.
one other "how times have changed" in that first litter of tiffany's there was a merle pup and linda- the akc super person- told me to get rid of it they were useless and bad for the breed- i did not "get rid of " her but someone from ?nh? needed a dog to pull his daughters wheelchair so she could go to the pizza place with her friends-- so i gave him that "useless" pup i wish i knew who that was now....
i hear that the akc is even considering "letting" people show merles... and they are havig cvommittee meetings to decide what might be the allowed color patterns..
how do you people with merle service dogs feel about that.??? that is why strangers will often say "i have never seen a dane that color---' they were often destroyed at birth. mine never were...
it wll also be a cold day in heii i take a dog into a show ring.

hi sdp.....
Bella and George had such an amazing day. They started their day going to an Art Camp. On Studio on the Common in Winchester center, they run an art camp for kiddos and Bella went for the day. She had such a fun time. Their were about 15 girls ranging from 7-11. They did a bunch of different art
project and even went outside to the common to do some projects and everything worked perfect. George behaved himself, I do have to admit when Bella snt me a text that they were in the common I was a bit nervous. The common is not fenced in or anything with the main road right there but
everything worked out great. George did his job and behaved. Bella had a lot of fun and wants to go back again. So we shall set that up soon.
Tonight we went into Boston with our friend Allison and her 3 great kids. Taylor 9, Hunter and Jack are 8. Hunter and Jack both have Morquio just like Bella. We went to meet Rachel and her son Oliver who is 14 also with MORQUIO. They are here from New Zealand to see some doctors. They were all
impressed with George and how well he did. He was content during dinner and then after dinner we went outside and took his best off so that everyone could say hi. We all know how much George loves to say hi once he is allowed to. Bella enjoys meeting others who also have Morquio, everyone joked
about taking George home with them. I don't think Bella would allow that to happen! But it was a great night meeting new friends. But it is way past bedtime so off I go.
Love Bella and George
