anna report
dealing with anna sometimes is better with 2 people...
2 am... i was awake anyway so i held her upright while ben cleaned up-- the rest were starving per usual..
.it is time we got the entire litter going on marches- and today... around teh fireplace---to start... lynn is off today but maybe haley can help..
this will be complicated by the fact that we usually tap the can to get attention and corral the group by giving them a snack.. -- we cAN not do that with anna in the group
it will be a organizational challange...
ustabee--- from spoon feeding and tapping the can we had a preprogrammed "march". where they would happily trot along behind.. if anyone started to drift.. a couple taps and quick spoonfull to all got them in line again..... from around the fireplace-- to arround the house.. to down to the t tent and back.. to puppy hill for a real runaround and recall.. tehn into the ambulance for the fairgrounds...sometimes with an adult or two. ?bentely and jiminey???? to ride herd... it would take me a total of about 30 minutes for the round trip.. i moved a bit faster then.
there is a danger. i would have to take a second person.....these are still small enough to get under the van... and there is a hot muffler therer. so i/we need someone "fleet of foot" to keep track of that--. teh fairgrounds is a huge flat grassy parking lot-- where a very few other dog owners might be there.. in which case we outwait them... the reason it is not used more frrequently is that it is not fenced.... and right on route 1... but it is a long run for a puppy to get to route 1 .. so... as long as i have a "fleet of foot" with me.. we should be ok.
nothing you ever do with animals is ever 100%-- much to the delight of teh "negative hindsighters". who lurking in the sidelines just waiting to display their 20-20 hindsight....for something they can condemn as mean...cruel... foolish .. or irresponsible. I have been that road.. and the internet makes it a super highway !! granted... if we kept them all in cages they would be safe.. they would also be neurotic mental idiots without a muscle to their frame..
i can remember..... when my 2 kids were very young, they got a 3 speed bike and i taught them how to use the bike to get to the bakery in lynnfield for an eclair. these bikes were not toys... i cringe. now.-----not only the streets are more dangerous, but the people on those streets are ludicrous. now i see kids on perfectly good bikes riding in circles in their own driveway..
.i also had a firm belief that giving a kid a toy hammer was contraindicated . a rinky dink plastic pretty red and blue toy hammer cost twice what a small real hammer costs and why frustrate the child with a virtually non useable hammer???? a few short nails and a hunk of wood with instructions about not having your sister hold the nails.... and it is an educational piece of equipment. as is a pulley and a short piece of rope... and a siphon hose with bucket of water...OUTSIDE. ..
. i don't think i ever spent 10 cents in "toys r us"-- and rarely on anything plastic... not because i was being inteledtual... that p;lastic toy stuff was expensive-- and usually more expensive than any real products they were imitating. plus the bit about i never bought a set of toy cooking pots for my daughters... the concept of women cooking and men hunting and building. went out just as soon as women discovered chopping wood was not done with an axe, but a light chain saw. and digging big holes or moving large objects was done by moving your wrist a few inches...
Geometry and physics. – both very real concepts for young children. and useable in toys and future homekeeping—I am not saying there is no place for the qame of chess for conceptual; planning... but I hardly ever hear of that in the real world now.... not even on their cell phones !!!!
Back to my taking the pups to the fairgrounds and the risk involved.... I think it is worth it... because after the fairgrounds it is simple to take the litter to a nursing home or hospital and have them all follow in a run thru the halls cheering everyone. Up... totally doable.. just keep moving...... as long as we have done our homework. And done the progression.. another fun thing is to go to Costco with the british pram and a pup or two in the pram. they love it !! and where we take so many dogs there for training... it does make sense.. to take that pram anywhere we “use” for training...
With pups hunger is a noisy thing....i can hear them in the complaint department.
