nightmares--mine usually have one foot in reality--- i must have been looking at eeyore just before bed  because my nightmare was  he didn't fit in the new trainers cars...even tho i had my two dogs  in there very nicely...  - that was nightmare #1  the other--( i usually fall asleep with the tv on) i was running down the street in vietnam waving teh bill for the lunch - as i chased the president's airplane taking  off from the same street-----which brings up teh gritty nitty of the fact that it cost someone to put all that fancy lunch table together-- even tho neither of the 2 main characters traveled "coach" to get there....  fact still remains  there is some poor "business unit" of owner,cook and waiter who  were hoping to  have things go differently-- the cost to the 2 main characters  is minor, but  to the waiter it might be a years salary. so who paid the bill? and just how was that done...i am sure the us gov't has 28 people in charge of foreign meals.... with or without icecream.--or... maybe-- that big airplane carries it's own  ingredients for foreign meals?????- maybe there are shelves in the back for cans of "mushroom soup" . i have read-- comments from barbara bush-- and jimmy carter about how the first family has to buy their own food, unless it is a state dinner...now you understand why the obama's started  that garden. so who makes up teh shopping list .  just in the way life is...  do they- as we do --- have a white board for thier costco list????-- who goes to the store and decides which bunch of bannanas are ripest?  who decides "paper  or plastic" ? on with today-- we have a spay at 9:00--and i have made an executive decision that it makes no sense for megan to go sit there when she coud be out training...i can sit and reead this adi #$%^&* just as well there as here.... well no....  in front of the fireplace is one heck of a lot better than dah's cold floor...  but the economics holds true. coming out of anesthesia is  sometimes a very violelnt affair... last time i was there alone i had to get a vet tech to help-- these are big  strong dogs--- once tehy begin to swallow and can have that tube out- there is about 7 minutes of exhaausting   scrambling to keep them from banging their head-- to this end, i am taking haley with me--as brute force... we need to get this under control... because   i think there is a shot which makes them come out more relaxed-- but it takes longer... and costs $26. and you thought dog training was a simple matter !! ***** I normally just read your musings and adventures. I just wanted to let you know that you are so right about the ridiculousness of rules that does not take into account organizations like The Service Dog Project. Places that have raised healthy and successful working Service Dogs. My mobility service dog Falcor passed away last October and I can tell you that even I  always acknowledged how much he had improved my  quality of life, but I had not realized how much his loss (which I was unprepared for. It was sudden. GI Tract tumor) would mean, not just to me but my family and friends. Successful working service dogs are a living gift to all who received them.  Thank you!  **** Miss Carlene, I heartily agree that many government regulations are written just so some employee can justify its existence by adding layer after layer of extra requirements. As for the ADI, a perfect example of a wonderful idea that was bogged down by letting lawyers get involved with futile attempts at trying to anticipate any problem and come up with ridiculous methods of preventing said issue.   And yes, Missouri is the Show Me State; I think Truman had a sign in the Oval Office “the buck stops here”.   Good luck with your ADI hoop jumping!  They should require every current and wannabe service dog outfit to spend 30 days at SDP to see how the real pros do it! **** but i will behave... maybe... and make  emergency plans to deal with a flood on this hill

ACCREDITATION... GOT TO GET IT OFF THE DOCKET--

I WRITE-- LINDA TYPES- ANN CHECKS-- I THNK IT IS BASICALLY ALL DONE.. BUT WHERE???? AND IT WAS WEEKS AGIO I WROTE TEH STUFF AND BY NOW FORGOT THE NAMES OF IT ALL-

- SO I MUST HAVE AT IT... JUST AFTER I FIGURE OUT WHY I MUST SPAY AND NEUTER OUR BREEDING STOCK-

I KNOW... ADI HAS WON WONDERFUL BATTLES-- PUBLIC ACCESS ETC- BUT I RESENT HAVING TO WRITE- AND DOCUMENT  HOW WHY AND WHEN WE CHANGE TEH WATER IN EACH KENNEL.

OR FEEDING-- OUR DOGS LOOK WONDERFUL- SO WE MUST BE FEEDING CORRECTLY-- MY RULE IS-- IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO FEED ANY DOG, GIVE THEM A VOLUME OF FOOD 1/2 THE SIZE OF THEIR HEAD.  ADI DOESN'T LIKE THAT SORT OF THING..

FIRE DRILLS-- IF THE BUILDING IS ON FIRE- GET OUT-- THE DOGS ALL HAVE A DOOR TO THE OUTSIDE-- i don't know who they wrote these "instructions" for... it sure was not our farm.  details instructions about"must be temperament tested???"  we live with them... we know teh dogs... not only we--- but teh 1000 people who watch them daily-- and let us know who is a bully or is limping-- if these pups can survive the rough  and tumpble of running up and down puppy hill, all we have to do is watch-- if anything is wrong it is gonna show... then we can do some test or another--- to test every animal for every ailment would put us out of business very quickly..

example-- if you have a perfectly normal looking puppy, there is no point in testing for worms-- they all have them- teh medicine for that is cheap and easy( steven with the new jr pup...-you gotta worm him...)

this adi bit says things like "we need to see documentation of health exams"  well ... you will see them if  our screening of tehm turned up sometihg odd.-- 

this whole accreditaTION PROCESS IS NOT GOING TO BE EASY-- BUT I BETTER GET AT IT.

MY PROBLEM IS ( AMONG MANY) WHEN YOU WANT TO ASSESS A DOG OPERATION, FIRST LOOK AT THE ANIMAL--  LOOKS GOOD-- ACTS FINE--MEANS THERE IS A VERY LOT THAT  CAN BE  IGNORED -- HOWEVER THIS ADI PAPERWORK STARTS WITH NEEDING TO DOCUMENT HOW WE FEED THE DOGS.

I HAD THAT EXACT PROBLEM WITH TEH DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE-- THEY CAME TO INSPECT ME BECAUSE I WAS USING ANIMALS IN MOVIES/COMMERCIALS.-- THEY WERE HERE 3 HOURS AND STUCK ON THE FACT THAT  EACH ANIMAL HAD TO HAVE A NUMBER-- ( NOT A NAME)- AND AT THAT POINT THEY HAD NOT EVEN LOOKED AT ANY ANIMAL THEY WANTED ME TO NUMBER.

"THEY"   WAS A  WOMAN- WHO I EVENTUALLY CALLED SOME NAME THAT WOULD MAKE A SAILOR BLUSH- AND THE NEXT DOWN MY DRIVEWAY WAS A  USDA VETERNARIAN WHO EXPLAINED THEY COULD FORCE ME TO VACUUM THE DUST OFF THE CHICKEN'S WINDOW LEDGE.  I THINK THAT WAS ABOUT THE TIME I JUST PLAIN QUIT.  HE EVENTUALLY GAVE  ME THE CERIFICATION NUMBER WHICH  IS OVER THE DOOR OF THE TEE TENT- BUT BY THEN I WAS OUT OF IT.  AND INTO SERVICE DOGS.

YOU ALL KNOW--- I LOOK AT THE MANURE PILE- AND I CAN TELL YOU  HOW THE STALL IS DONE. WAS MUCKED.

LOOK AT TEH RESULTS BEFORE YOU PICK OVER THE DETAILS. I AM VERY PROUD OF OUR KENNELS-- AND TEH DOGS OUR TRAINERS PRODUCE-- I AM THRILLED TO COPY ANY KENNEL RUNNING BETTER THAN OURS... HOWEVER.......

teh plot continues-- with egg on maybe 1/2 my face---i went  to the toyota dealer and insisted on seeing the manager who listened and looked over my paper.. i said i really wanted to see on  his car max report HOW COULD IT SHOW   my vin #  WITH  5 owners -- odometer and accident, and he typed in my vin #  one side the screen said no accident- the other still with my vin had "an accident"  with 3 owners---   which still did not verify the 5 owner-- odometer-- accident piece of paper shown by the salesman.  so he kind of had me   "you can't believe everything on car max.."  which i was beginning to believe since the one screene had 2 stories on it.... neiither of which the salesman had given me.  he then offered me 12,500  which got my attention because i had just come from another dealer(10,000) and carmax (8500) WHEN THEIR VARIETY OF CARS WERE THE SAME PRICE---- WELL NO... THE 10.000 DEALER HAD AN AMAZING COLLECTION OF THIGNS HE HAD TO ADD ON..  WHICH HE SWORE WERE NORMAL AT EVERY DEALER-- THE CAR MAX DID NOT HAVE CARFAX-- THEY HAD THEIR OWN XXXXX WHICH BASICALLY HAD ONLY TEH  INFORMATION THEY COULD HAVE GOT FROM THE REG OF MV...  CAR FAX  HAS DEALER INFO ALONG WITH REG-- BUT NOT THE LOCAL JIFFY LUBE TYPE.

BY THE TIME I GOT TO THE MANAGER'S OFFICE  I HAD SPENT 4 HOURS AT CAR SELLERS DESKS- REALLY KILLING TIME-- BUT DECIDING  TEH VARIABLE I NEEDED TO CONSIDER WAS  ONLY  THE MILEAGE-  AND IF IT WAS MAINTAINED AT 4999 AND 9999 MILES IT MIGHT BE( BUT NOT NECESAARILY ) BETTER THAN A CAR WITH 30,000 MILES AND SHOWED NO OIL CHANGE DONE BY  TEH DEALER????

BOTTOM LINE---WITH THAT FORD EXIBITION  TURN IN... WHAT SEEMED TO BE   2  EQUAL TYPE CARS   ALL RAV4'S 2015  2016 -WERE CLOSE TO $10,000  CHEAPER AT THE DEALER WHO STARTED MY ARGUEMENT-  CAN I BE BOUGHT FOR $10K????  YOU BET YOUR SWEET BIPPIE I CAN-- THAT IS ALOT OF CHICKEN BRICKS !!

THERE ARE 2 CP'S WHO HAVE DEALINGS WITH CAR MAX-- AND  THEY HAVE   "THE STORY" I WOULD YET LIKE TO FIGURE OUT-- 

IN THE MEANTIME- I AM TO GO BACK THIS MORNING FOR TWO CARS "OF UNUSUAL" COLORS BRIGHT BLUE AND BURNT ORANGE-- I WILL NOT WILLINGLY BUY A CAR THE COLOR OF HOT TOP-  WHICH I ALSO CAN NEVER FIND IN A PARKING LOT.

I WONDER ..... I THINK OLIVE HAD SOME WHITE....   ???? ANYBODY REMEMBER???   PRISCILLA??? YOU STILL READING THIS THING????

I almost hate to post this.... so knock on wood, throw salt🧂, say a prayer cuz here it goes! .....

Last week Eve with the help of the amazing Finn walked in & out of the Coffee House, in & out of the movie theatre & in and out of a restaurant!  A restaurant we would not have been able to dine in had she been in her wheelchair as the entrance had only steps (historical building) and the space was so small there would not have been space for her chair. Just 1 more of about a million reasons to be super grateful for all SDP does and the wonderful gift of Finn. ❤️ Not only that but last week she walked 6 min on the treadmill everyday - 3 min then a 1 min break then another 3 min. Today she is adding another 2 min after another 1 min break!

mule slobber- who would have thought  that would be the highlight of the day.???janine said the cowboys were bringing in 2 mules- so we got the stall all ready for 2 mules- which i assumed were some kind of pair and would probably get along-  what  arrived was big mule , little mule and a heck of a big horse- looks like a saddlebred.why janine and teh cowboys split them up as they did , i do not know.-- horse-little mule and other side big mule..  big mule is nearest teh camera- and decided overnight to lick the lens-- which explains  teh " snow". look in the stall. could be the horse is going to some other destination... these guys who run these big trailers are like bus drivers-- they get a load and keep a schedule pretty well- these are 2 janine knows pretty well  and lets them stay in  our guest house instead of teh motel 10 miles away- they have been known to be up and out of here before sdp wakes up.. could also be that janine bought that  horse too.  she/we  had a saddlebred once-- i bought on a lark because it was related to "wing commander" a 5 gaited saddlebred  of national fame  O KNEW AS A KID... you can probably still google him.  wing commander- the great american show horse...".. and as bad as my memory is... i can still tell you  his father was anacho shamrock and mother flurtation walk-- ridden by earl teater.  how is that for useless information.?at any rate  -- the saddlebred--i bought- and janine rode "cookie" was a hugeLY  spectacular  horse in teh hunting  jumping world- one day janine beat a bunch of international jumpers- having never don that kind of riding til that day- she won mostly because she cowboy'd it ---just aim  cookie and hang on... which was wonderful til the next day cookie refused to jump a 2' fence and  cookie was beaten by a tiny 4h kid ON A LITTLE PONY.. consistency was not cookie's forte. the kicking OF THIS HORSE IN THE STALL  coUld be explained by the fact that saddlebreds are fragile things and live most of thier lives in a stall  often ( before animal rights fourn ouT)  with short  chain "bracelets" around each ankle to  get them to exagerate the high stepping caRRIAGE NECESSARY IN THE SHOW RING.  THEY OFTEN PICKUP SOME STRANGE HABITS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES I GUESS..   "CRIBBING" IS ANOTHER PEQUILAR VICE THEY OFTEN DO.... WHERE THEY  HOOK THEIR UPPER TEETH ON ANY PIECE OF STALL THEY CAN FIND. TEHN PULL BACK ALL THEIR NECK MUSCLES AND BELCH-- AT LEAST  THAT IS WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE.- FOR SOME REASON IT IS ADDICTIVE ONCE THEY START.  VERY WIERD= NO STRANGER THAN ROLLING UPA LEAF AND PUTTIN G IT INYOU MOUTH AND LIGHTING THE OTHER END. BACK TO HORSE TRANSPORT---   THERE ONCE WAS  A HUGE CALL FOR MOVING RACE HORSES AROUND THE COUNTRY-- BUT RACING HAS TAKEN A HIT- AND MANY TRACKS HAVE CLOSED----- i remember--- trying to get mary here from kansas - mary was a 6 month old donkey we had  for  over 25 years...so i called the race horse transport-- they have a mare and foal "stall in the front of  53' trailer- which comes across rt 80 west to east on a regular schedule... all i had to do was pay the bill-  they picked her up with the same care that they would have given secretariat-- and blocked boxford road with a monstorous gleaming  truck--- put  down the ramp- the onlookers expected to see a  fancy race horse all done up in shipping bandages--- and down the ramp came one young donkey- smaller than pockets now is.  she was a better addition  than any race horse i ever owned !! ANOTHER FACT---MY HUSBAND WAS A FAN OF HORSE RACING -- TO PUT IT MILDLY-- AND I SAT AT MANY TRACKS WITH  very LITTLE ENTERTAINMENT-- AT ONE POINT I TOOK THE RACING FORM- 10 RACES WITH 10 HORSES EACH IS A GOOD NUMBER--- 100 HUNDRED HORSES-- THEY LIST THE STATISTICS FOR EAch horse--  including age-- and lifetime earnings..  i know the price of hay.... so i took the pounds of hay it took  to get that horse to be the age it was- less than 10 even paid for the hay they ate...let aloneTHE GRAIN   OR .. SHOES OR make a huge profit....  then  10 races  10 horses, if you just picked random numbers you were bound to win one race to talk about- while the racing world lived on teh 9 you lost and didn't  MENTION  THAT is the betting end.. on the owning end it was  even worse--- if you did happen to win a purse... there is a "tradition"  that-- the trainer gets 10%, the hot walker gets 10%- people who  fill the hay bag every second thursdaY GET 10%  these were not popular conversations to have  with my husband. TEH ONLY GOOD THING WAS THE CAESAR SALAD AT SUFFOLK DOWNS WAS THE BEST I EVER HAD. I BETTER QUIT AND TRY TO  GO BUY A CAR OR TWO.

I ASKED WHY MY VIN # WAS NOT ON THE REPORT- HE SAID COMPUTER PROBLEM..  BUT HE WOULD HAVE TO OFFER ME A REDUCED PRICE BECAUSE PEOPLE WOULD SEE THE ODOMETER COMMENT AND NOT PAY FULL PRICE..  I KNOW COMPUTER LITERATE JANINE WOULD HAVE SEEN THAT AND MENTIONED IT..-- AND ALSO THE" 5 OWNER COMMENT" -- SO I SMELLED A RAT--- BUT SMILED AND WENT ON-- AND TOOK THE INFO ON THE 2 RAV4'S AND SAID I WOULD BE BACK WITH TEH TITLE AND CHECK... HE WAS THRILLED..HOWEVER--- I CAME HOME AND DECIDED TO LOOK IT  UP- MOSTLY FOR THE GENERIC EXPERIE3NCE-- I HAVE NEVER USED CARFAX BEFORE--- AND IT ASKED FOR $39.99 -- I BALKED... BUT OPTED TO SPEND IT-- AND BEHOLD  THERE WAS NO PROBLEM  ODOMETER -- 5 OWNERS OR AN ACCIDENT REPORT IN THE CARFAX REPORT WITH MY VIN NUMBER ON IT.  CLEAN CREAMPUFF...

AT HOME( SDP OFFICE)  --I WAS JOINED BY SEVERAL OTHER ASTUTE COMPUTER FOLKS AND WE TRIED TO GET ANY OF THE CAR FAX REPORTS TO LOOK LIKE WHAT HE HAD GIVEN ME.  WITH NO SUCCESS..  SO TO BE TOTALLY ACCURATE I WILL TRY MONDAY TO STOP IN AND SEE THE MANAGER OF THAT DEALERESHIP- AND LET THEM SHOW ME HOW THEY ENDED UP WITH A CAR FAX LOGO ON AN INACCURATE REPORT   WHICH WAS ADVANTAGEOUS TO THEM.

I COULD QUIT THERE-- BUT.... TO PROTECT ALL OTHER  LITTLE OLD LADIES JUST TRYING FOR AN HONEST DEAL-  I AM THINKING  CAR FAX MIGHT NOT LIKE THIS DEALER USING THE TRUST THEY HAVE BUILT IN THE ACCURACY OF TEH CAR FAX  LOGO TO DEVALUE  OR I SUPPOSE OVERRVALUE A CAR USING THEIR REPUTATION WITH A CONVENIENT CUT AND PASTE....

BUT  THEN AGAIN........MAYBE TEH  TOYOTA  MANAGER  WILL BE ABLE TO EXPLAIN IT TO ME ON MONDAY..  IN WHICH CASE I WILL GLADLY WEAR EGG ON MY FACE.

WE WENT TO OUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT FOR LUNCH UP HERE THE MOAT MOUNTAIN BREWERY. ONE OF OUR FAVORITE OF ALL TIME. AMAZING FOOD AND BEER. ONE OF THE WAITRESSES HAS BEEN FOLLOWING BELLA AND GEORGE’S STORY FOR SOME TIME AND COMES TO OUR TABLE WITH AN ENVELOPE WITH CASH SAYING SHE HAS BEEN MEANING TO SEND THIS TO US FOR THE FUNDRAISER BUT HERE WE ARE. SUCH AN AMAZING PLACE! GREAT PEOPLE. THANK YOU FRIEND! SEE YOU GUYS ALL SOON.  GEORGE WAS. .. OF COURSE... THE PERFECT SERVICE DOG.

THEN WE WENT OVER TO ATTITASH WHERE WE OWN A TIME SHARE AND TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE POOL AND HOT TUB OUTSIDE. HOPING IT WOULD HELP BELLAS JOINTS BUT SHE WAS STILL SORE AND TIRED. I THINK THAT IS THE NORMAL FOR HER SADLY NOW. I WOULD DO ANYTHING TO TAKE THE PAIN AWAY. SHE IS STILL THE STRONGEST AND BRAVEST 14 YEAR OLD I KNOW! 

SOME GOOD NEWS IS I HEARD TODAY THE ELEVATOR IS FIXED AT THE SCHOOL. SO TUESDAY HOPEFULLY BELLA AND GEORGE WILL GET ON WITH OUR TO MUCH ANXIETY. SHE WON’T BE IN SCHOOL MONDAY BECAUSE SHE HAS AN APPOINTMENT IN BOSTON. AND HOPEFULLY WE WILL HEAR FROM THE ORTHO TEAM ABOUT HER HIP. 

BUT FOR NOW WE WILL CONTINUE TO ENJOY OUR TIME WITH FRIENDS AWAY. THANK YOU ALL FOR CHECKING IN AND SPREADING THE LOVE.

I HAD MANY GEICO PIG ADS COMMENTS-- MOSTLY THAT IT ISW A FAKE PIG-- IT IS CEERTAINLY A GOOD ONE... GLAD TEHYDID IT WHERE THEY HAD FAKE PIGH MAKERS INSTEAD OF BOSTON WHERE I WOULD HAVE BEEIN IN THE BACK OF THAT CAR.

TEH ADS THAT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION BETWEEN 4AM AND 5  WERE THE POOP ADS  3 IN A ROW-- A MAN CHANGING A DIAP-ER.----A MAN USING NOSE SPRAY SO HE COULD SMELL TEH DIAPER CHANGE HIS WIFE WAS DOING..---. AND THE KID AT TEH TABLE WHO MADE A FUNNY NOISE-- I DON'T KNOW WHY THE AD PEOPLE HAVE DECIDED  TO CONCENTRATE ON THAT.. BUT THERE WERE 3 IN 1/2 HOUR.

I MADE A SINCERE EFFORT AT TEH BOARD MEETING TO DIRECT THE BOARD TO  A HIGHER LEVEL OF CONCEPTS AND GET AWAY FROM THE DAILY  HOW TO--  WE HAVE SOME STUDYING TO DO--  OF THE DULL AND BORING TYPE..  FINALLY, I THINK EVERYONE REALIZES I AM TRYING TO MAKE US MORE EFFICIENT-- I AM NOT BEING  CRITICAL JUST BECAUSE I NEED TO STUDY HOW LONG IT TAKES YOU TO GO WHERE YOU GO --IN WHICH CAR--- WITH HOW MANY DOGS --PER DAY-- IN A BLIZZARD. AND FURTHERMORE WHICH DOGS WOULD BE BETTER THERAPY DOGS-- AND ARE WE TAKING A LIST OF PEOPLE WHO WANT TO HAVE A THERAPY DOG---  WE HAVE SOME THAT JUST SOOOOOO HAPPY THAT IT WILL BE A LONG TIME BEFORE THEY BECOME  QUIET ENOUGH TO DO SERVICE WORK..

I HAVE NOT SOLD A DOG IN 100 YEARS - AND I AM NOT SURE I LIKE THE REPUTATION...  BUT RIGHT AT THE MOMENT WE HAVE 20 BEAUTIFUL PUPS-- WHEN 4 LITTERSW OF 5 EACH WOULD HAVE BEEN ALOT EASIER TO HANDLE..  WE CAN CERTAINLY DONATE ANY TO ANOTHER ADI OUTFIT WHO WANTS TO TRAIN DANES..  THERE AREN'T TOO MANY TAKERS YET ON THAT ONE.

board meeting's  capital decision ---buy 2 cars....  does make sense... to get rid of the big ford and teh 300 mile highlander.- so wade's job today is to clean them up--(big job--- we have a good vacuum cleaner- that back pack one ) and go see what kind of deal we can get on buying 2   both highlander and pizza delivery thing-- small van-- we only drive  short trips locally and that  little ford van would work fine-  the rest was many discussions about becoming more efficient ... there is no reason megan should sit waiting for a car to be repaired...  we have to keep the trainers doing what they do best.

janine is stepping down from chairman of the board-- she has her own equine rescue network to deal with - along with a job.. no time to concentrate on sdp. her sunday donkey walk got large coverage in boston newspapers last week.. it is certainly an interesting thing- enlightening for many- 

there was a dull and boring discussion about data-- gwen uses a different style then i do-- she is more ADI compliant i am sure-- with all kinds of info on individual papers/file...  i like one sheet of paper that i can understand in order to make decisions-  but it is way too involved for the normal person-yo0u want a dull and boring example.... our data files are very similar--   i sort  mine, and it  count what i need to by filling a series.. gwen filters desired info, but filtering eliminates my computers ability to count or add things- as i said-- doesn't make sense to a normal person.  and then there is ADI wanting papers just filled up with unuseabe data.-- so we have it all-- we are ready-- at least in that departmet.-- linda struggles on..  with chaos help

chaos does know when her car is in the driveway-gets all excited... but can not undeerstand why she is off sunday monday... so she lives on the edge of waiting to hear the car-- or to have me say linda's here... or paul's here ( which means earlene... chaos other favorite)

The blessings of Service Dog Project are mixed.   Kringle and the other dogs give the recipients the gift of mobility but you also get the gift of a new family.  Yesterday not only did we have a lovely day with friends in Wisconsin but we got to meet a beautiful fifth grader, Eve with her dog Finn.  My heart grew with how kind and happy this young lady was and her mother.  I would never ask for my health issues but it is a mixed blessing because I meet wonderful people and experience great things.  Thank you SDP and Eve's mom for making the magical meeting possible.  It was a great afternoon.  Eve is a lovely young girl who makes your heart grow!❤❤❤Kringle and Finn are brother and sister and tales were wagging.

Such a great day! Eve & Finn had a fun at Blended learning! Plus Eve has been trying to get some walking in more regularly! But the icing on the cake was the impromptu reunion of Finn and his sister Kringle!!!!!

How awesome is it that on their way to another destination Shauna and Kringle we’re stopping in the next town over from where we live!!!  They even got to experience small town WI! They walked into a local establishment and their server was like “hey I know a little girl with a Great Dane Service Dog!” Yep it was Eve and their server a friend of ours! Annette Rude 😃 

Then this afternoon we got to get together with them!! And visit! ❤️❤️❤️ so so glad we got together!

then.... the cake deal on the 19th---i was in the "big cake store"( not th esupermarket kind)  buying two artistic and delicious cakes- one for sdp-- the other for gerogetown fire deopt... who have come to expect it.  standing around in teh store , a couple standing there heard me ask for a top whichsaid  happy 19th   - they asked why 2 cakes  both appy 19th.. which gave me a chance to tell them about the fire departments getting cakes in42 states just on a whim..   they said they live close to the ipswich fire dept-- so i gave tehm a cake to take there--  they were a jolly couple a dn got right in the spirit of the nonsense.. then delivered mine to georgetown-- . and the guy was all smiles...

Hi Carlene and all your crew,

Charlotte and I are doing so well, I am reminded daily how much of an improvement in my quality of life she has helped. I always knew that my awesome wife can catch me as I tip over but Charlotte stabilizing me has helped me to get involved in things with my family and children that I didn't think I would get. Charlotte and I are going to Nellis AFB in Las Vegas in 8 days to compete in the Air Force Trials. This is a competition for wounded/ill soldiers in order to hopefully be selected for the Air Force team at the Warrior Games in June.

The Warrior Games are a competition between all 4 services and including some soldiers from England and Australia. Part of the goal of the games is to be another step in recovery for the soldiers. The AF trials are an opportunity to show how what happened to you doesn't define who you are. No, you won't see me running track. You won't see me cycling. I will be competing in wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, swimming, shooting (sitting) and sitting discus/shot put. There are almost 200 athletes competing in the trials and if it's anything like the last time I tried this it will include 12-14 service dogs. Some of the dogs are for balance, some for PTSD, some for visually impaired and other injuries. Hopefully I'll make the team but the competition is fierce and some people are less damaged than others heh. It is up to the Air Force Wounded Warrior program so we shall see. I wouldn't have been selected to even compete if I couldn't stand up without bouncing off stairs or anything.

someone sent the "healing power of horses"   interesting--welllllll....... certainly being around horses- and sometimes even riding them can be healing.... but in my personal opinion, it is the fact that horses ARE About the most labor intensive project going. and it is the labor in the fresh air that is healing .. not the horse.. some say boats ARE LABOR INENSIVE.... but if you leave a boat somewhere, it just sits there- maybe slowly disintegrating,  but  you can not leave a horse for more than 12 hours  without having to make some Herculean effort involving not only  wheelbarrows but  hammers and nails- because  gnawing  on the walls and fences is something they do second only to  "processing" the tons of hay and grain that went thru their gut.

time was... i would get 30 tons of hay at a time- from canada-  Andre.. with his big red truck would back in and unload it- mostly by himself- it was an amazing performance because he was all of 5 foot 4 inches tall. but he was slow and steady !!

To that 30 tons we ( the 4h  kids) would add maybe a ton  of grain..... alot of water. so that maybe 60 tons would hAVE TO BE shoveled by these 10-12 year old kids- certainly they did ride- but even teh hours spent preparing for the  long distance trail rides  (the vermont 50 miler) did not equate the hours spend shoveling-  we have a minor version of tht now... just figure mo  at ?1700 pounds??? 

DO THE MAth--- a normal  1000 pound horse should get at least 20 pounds of hay a day-- mo eats more plus 5 pounds of grain.. rule of physics ... matter may neither be created nor destroyed....   it does add up-  granted mo is outside alot--  that does not change things-- it only puts off teh collection til spring- when it is  no longer frozen to the ground.

on to fischer cats-- i don't know what the breeding season is for fischer cats  but i think it must be around now-- we have something large screaming in the forest behind me- which is setting off the dogs--  so i set off my audiometer- and yes they are barking, but at 100 feet, the sound level is equal to the ambient sound in a library.  teh formula  sound goes down 6 decibel every time the disatnce is doubled

you can do that math too... a barking dog is 90 decibles at 1 foot -- at 128 feet it equals the noise a refrigerator makes. 

i have been there before-- done all that.

other large problem of the day-- is one of these dogs  s  t  i  n  k  s  --- maybe teeth--- usta be a vet woudl scrape away with a dental pick - now they have a fancy  ? water jet-?   requiring anesthesia- and a big charge-- so i must go find my supply of dental picks-- or screw drivers---which also works...

i don't like banks-- you have heard me say that before-- buncha fat cats--- who sit around IN WHITE SHIRT AND TIE..

.and Make money they don't realy work for.

 or something like that.--  i put bankers in that catagory-  especially  the  credit card 29% if your payment is 14 seconds late.. 

 I INHERITED MY DISLIKE OF BANKERS FROM MY FATHER- HE SOLD HEAVY EQUIPMENT ( TRACTORS ETC)  AND -- WHEN HE STARTED, 

TEH BANKS IN NEWBURGH OFTEN REFUSED TO GIVE CREDIT  TO TEH LOCAL FARMERS WHO  WERE BUYING NEW EQUIPMENT FROM HIM.

HE FOUND THE  SURROUNDING TOWNS-- CHESTER, GOSHEN  AND MARLBOROUGH TO BE MORE AGREEABLE ON BUYING HIS "PAPER" -- -

 SO AS HE GOT MORE SUCCESSFUL-  THOSE WERE THE PLACES HE  PUT HIS MONEY--  WHICH IS WHY EVERY FRIDAY SOMEBODY ..

.( ME-- ONCE I GOT MY DRIVERS LICENSE)  HAD TO DRIVE TO CHESTER OR MARLOBOBOUGH TO THEIR BANKS  TO  GET THE PAYROLL CASH 

 THUS STARTING MY CAREER OF CARRYING LARGE QUANTITIES  OF MONEY IN BROWN PAPER BAGS. ALWAYS A SMALL "LUNCH BAG"

SITTING ON THE SEAT NEXT TO ME- I ONCE HAD A TALL THIN BAG-  AND SLID TEH BILLS IN AND TWISTED  THE TOP... IT WAS DECIDED 

THAT WAS NOT A GOOD IDEA BECAUSE ANYONE STOPPING ME TO ROB ME WOULD BE INCLINED TO STEAL WHAT THEY THOUGHT MIGHT

 BE LIQUOR TOO.

AS I GOT INVOLVED WITH THE WANT ADVERTISER- AND HAD 16 DELIVERY PEOPLE . THE ROUTINE WAS FOR THEM TO GIVE ME THEIR CASH 

IN BROWN PAPER BAGS- AND IF I WAS NOT HOME, THEY WOLLD LEAVE IR BROWN BAG SOMEPLACE I WOULD FIND THEM-- OFTEN THE FEED

 BIN IN THE BARN... KNOWING I FED EVERY NIGHT ABOUT 5PM.  THIS ALSO ACCOUNTED FOR MY PERSONAL AQUAINTENCE WITH COINS- MY KIDS

 LIVED ON TEH COIN JUG ---- FROM LUNCH MONEY- TO $90 IN DIMES FOR A DINNER  AT A RESTAURANT.

SO BACK TO MY 5 GALLON JUG OF SDP COINS.....

ONE OF THE  sdp VOLUNTEERS HAD SEVERAL ACCOUNTS IN THE SAME BANK AND A HACKER GOT INTO  ONE ACCOUNT -- AND

  THEN TRANSFERRED MONEY  INTO THAT ONE ACCOUNT  AND WITHDREW IT. hmmmmmmmm. 

 BETWEEN SDP AND I WE HAVE 6 ACCOUNTS IN ONE BANK.

APPARENTLY A BANK IN GEORGETOWN DID NOT CHARGE-   SO WE UNWRAPPED 134.50 IN MISC COINS -- DUMPED TEHM IN A SMALL PAIL AND

WENT TO HAVE THEM COUNT OUR COINS-- SINCE TEHY CAME UP WITH 133.78 AND 2 THINGS THAT  WERE NOT COINS...

----the new bank -- salem  five cent savings bank----checks out as probably honest-- KEEPING IN MIND THAT ROBBING THE "CUSTOMER" 

IS TOTALLY LEGAL FOR A BANK TO DO.. I DECIDED TO JUST OPEN  AN ACCOUNT THERE AND MOVE TEH  SDP  FUN FUND SAVINGS ACCOUNT THERE.

FINALLY I HAVE FOUND A USE FOR JUNK MAIL-- WITH THE ELASTIC BAND THAT COMES WITH IT,  TEH ENVELOPES MAKE A GREAT  "ARM GUARD" FOR WHEN I NEED TO DO ALOT OF TYPING-- THEY SELL THEM- I OWN SEVERAL- BUT THEY ARE USUALLY IN TEH LAUNDRY WHEN I NEED THEM-- WHERE AS  THE JUNK MAIL IS UBIQUITOUS\  

( THAT COMES FROM THE LATIN " YOU QUIT IT" )

EEYORE- WITH HIS ELBOW LUMPS  IS LOOKING BETTER--- I THINK--- NOT BY MUCH-- i am told they are from sleepiot on a hard surface-- well if he did it is his own fault-- he used to drag all his bedding outside---- OUR  RESIDENT MEDICAL AUTHORITY KEEPS TELLING US TO IGNORE THEM- THEY WILL EVENTUALLY GO AWAY OR GET BIGGER- THEY AE NOT AN ABCESS-- APPARENTLY BUT  "JUST SEROUS   FLUID"-- GRACE ALSO SAYS BURSITIS--   ACTUALLY PEOPLE SAY ALOT  OF THINGS I DO NOT UNDERSTAND-- WHAT I  DO UNSDERSTAND IS  DO NOT POKE A HOLE IN IT.    BECAUSE AT THE MOMENT IT IS NOT INFECTED-- HE STILL GOES OUT ON TRAINING RUNS-- BUT MUST LIVE ON SOFT BEDDING-- HENCE HIS LIFE INTHE "SUN ROOM"  - ONCE HE IS TRAINED 100%  I HOPE THEY ARE GONE- BECAUSE HOW DO I GIVE A DOG WITH BIG BULDGING ELBOWS- THAT WE ARE TOLD  "ARE NOTHING"  EXCEPT UNSIGHTLY?????  HE IS A WONDERFUL DOG !!!

and on... we have ( hopefully )  a new volunteer coming this morning -a very unusual sort...I  gave him the photo and liability release form that all volunteers sign.... and he read it !!! that marked him as  A.-- valuable   and   B -- unusual   and in a catagory with bud-- who reads manuals...  i  need those kind , being the duct tape kind myself.... ---.

i re-did teh "jobs description"  all pretty  just like ADI would like-- but in the shower this morning... i realized what a bunch of #$%^&*( that is... how it really goes is   top left-- mommy nature    top right   charlie ( Explore) -- under mommy nature is puppies and megan-- under charlie is cameras , nuts and bolts, and me-- and than both filter down to a service dog.-- all the rest is #$%^&*()_

we are iced in-  our help did not shovel out the house and front door-- so i will have to meet  with people  in the car--until they get us shoveled and sanded.  grace just said teh guest house is sanded.... so i will go there...

ELVIS AND I WERE ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL THIS PAST WEDNESDAY MEANING WE HAVE JUST FINISHED DAY 6 IN THE HOSPITAL. WE WILL BE HERE FOR A FEW MORE WEEKS. IT HAS DEFINITELY BEEN A ROLLERCOASTER THIS PAST WEEK! I DID NOT LEAVE MY ROOM AT ALL FOR THE FIRST 5 DAYS AND NOT VERY OFTEN SINCE THEN. I HAVE HAD A CENTRAL LINE PLACED AND THEN DEVELOPED A BLOOD CLOT WHICH WE ARE ACTIVELY TREATING, WAITING FOR SURGERY, AND RECEIVING 24/7 TREATMENT THROUGH MY CENTRAL LINE.

ELVIS HAS BEEN PHENOMENAL, I REALLY HAVE NO WORDS FOR HOW TRULY AMAZED I AM WITH HIM. TODAY WE FINALLY GOT OUT TO GO ON A COUPLE SHORT WALKS AROUND THE HALLWAY AND WE RECEIVED 4-5 DIFFERENT PEOPLE COMMENT ON HOW COOL IT WAS THAT ELVIS WAS WALKING EXACTLY IN STEP WITH ME WHEREVER WE WENT. WHILE ON MY WALK I TOOK A STUMBLE WHICH ELVIS SAVED ME FROM HITTING THE FLOOR AND AGAIN NURSES COMMENTED ON HOW AWESOME HE WAS. WE HAVE ALSO HAD MULTIPLE COMMENTS ON HOW CALM ELVIS IS AND HOW HE JUST SLEEPS BY MY SIDE NO MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE COMING IN AND OUT.

I TRULY DO NOT HAVE ANY WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW MUCH THIS DOG HAS HELPED ME EVEN IN THESE MORE CHALLENGING TIMES. HE WAS LITERALLY FOOT PERFECT OUT WORKING THIS AFTERNOON DESPITE BEING STUCK IN THE HOSPITAL WITH ME. I WILL TRY TO UPDATE A LITTLE MORE WHEN I AM FEELING SLIGHTLY BETTER AS THERE ARE MANY MORE THINGS WE HAVE BEEN UP TOO, MAKING SURE WE STAY OCCUPIED WHILE IN HERE (ELVIS'S FAVORITE SO FAR HAS BEEN WHEN BELLA AND GEORGE CAME TO VISIT! )
