MARCH 7 2019

TIMING-- IS EVERYTHING....  YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOME APPRECIATION ABOUT HTE TIMING DETAILS AROUND HERE...  JUDY MADE AN APPT FOR "THE ROAD SHOW" WITH BENTLY AND SIZZLE AT SOME ADULT DAY CARE FOR 10:00  WHICH MEANS LOAD UP AT 9:00  DOESN;T SOUND VERY EXCITING... EXCEPT.... MEGAN COMES IN AT 9:00 WHICH MEANS IN HER CAR-- AND TO PUT IN THE KENNEL IN THE BARN ... IS WALTER-- WHICH MEANS IF I AM TRYING TO "EMPTY BENTLEY AND SIZZLE IN THE AREA BY THE BARN JUST BEFOPRE 9......,,, THAT PUTS 4  OF THOSE FAMILY JEWEL;S  WITHOUT CHAIN LINK BETWEEN  THE PAIRS    .
IT IS THE DETAILS THAT GET YOU EVERY TIME....

LIKE WONDERING IF WE DID GET THE BATTERIES SO  WE CAN CHANGE THE SMOKE CO2 DETECTOERS WHEN WE SPRING FORWARD THE CLOCKS-- WHICH I AM TOLD IS SOON...

I SPENT 73 HOURS YESTERDAY TRYING TO FIGURE OUT JUST WHERE THE MOVIE  "MIRACLE WORKER" RESIDES ON MY COMPUTER-- IT WAS BEHIND 47 PASSWORDS--32 OF WHICH I HAD TO CHANGE... LUCKILY THEY DID NOT ASK FOR MY MOTHER BIRTHDAY-  JUST WHAT STREET I GREW UP ON-  AT LEAST THE STREET HAS ONLY ONE ANSWER.
I WANTED TO BE ABLE TO LOCATE  THE MOVIE SO I COULD BE SURE
TO GET IT RUNNING SOME DAY WHEN WE HAVE AN EXTRA HOUR OR SO---

I HAD ALOT OF RESPONSES TO PEOPLE WANTING TO BE TRAINERS
AND JUST NOT HAVING A PATH TO THAT CARREER.

PUTTING  MY MONEY WHERE MY MOUTH IS.........THE RESULT OF THIS DISCUSSION MAY BE ME GOING TO THE LOCAL TECH SCHOOL AND TRYING TO  GET THEM OFF VET TECHS AND GROOMERS...  THEY ASK ME TO SPEAK THERE OFTEN... AND I SHOULD FOCUS BETTER  AND TRY AND POINT A PATH--- THERE IS A MUCH HIGHER NEED - TRAINING... WHICH THEY COULD STUDY FROM EXPERIENCE WHLE BEING PAID AS VET TECHS AND    GROOMERS-- TOUGH TO TEACH TRAINING...  IT IS TIMING, INSTINCT, AND COMMUNICATION.--  DOESN'T TAKE MUCH TO TEACH  MOST YELLOW LABS TO CHASE A YELLOW TENNIS BALL .  I HAVE A FRIEND WHO HAS 4 OR 5 LITTLE DOGS-- AND AFTER 30 YEARS OF KNOWING HER AND TRYING TO TEACH HER HOW TO GET THESE DOGS  TO DO ANYTHING SPECIFIC   SHE HAS ONE THAT WILL NOW SIT ON COMMAND.. SHE IS VERY PLEASED. " THEY ARE ALL RESCUES"  IS HER REASON FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO GET THEM TO  DO ANYTHING SPECIFIC...  BUT  SHE LOVES THEM  AND I USED THEM IN THE PICTURE OF THE 34 LOOSE DOGS.  THEY ALL JUST  HANG OUT.

HERE'S ONE OF THE BUDDY DOG REPLIES FROM YESTERDAY.
****
I WANTED TO BE A TRAINER, WROTE TO THEM WHEN I WAS ABOUT 12 OR 13 AND THEY WROTE BACK AND TOLD ME IT WAS TOO VIGOROUS FOR WOMEN. HA! AROUND 1962 OR SO.

TWO OTHER INCIDENTS FROM THAT BOOK, SOME REPORTERS MET MR. MORRIS--I THINK IN DOWNTOWN NEW YORK--AND ASKED HIM TO HAVE BUDDY TAKE HIM ACROSS THE BUSIEST STREET IN TOWN, FOR DEMONSTRATION. (THEY DIDN’T TELL HIM ABOUT THE STREET, OF COURSE). BUDDY DID IT. THE REPORTERS DIDN’T. THEY TOOK A TAXI TO MEET HIM ON THE OTHER SIDE!!

AND THERE WAS ONE TIME WHEN AN ELEVATOR DOOR OPENED, HE TOLD BUDDY “FORWARD” AND SHE BALKED. HE WAS JUST ABOUT TO DROP HER HARNESS AND WALK FORWARD BY HIMSELF. SHE THREW HERSELF AGAINST HIS LEGS AND WOULDN’T BUDGE. FINALLY SOMEONE CAME ALONG AND TOLD HIM THERE WAS AN EMPTY SHAFT IN FRONT OF HIM. BROKEN ELEVATOR? BUDDY KNEW BETTER. AFTER THAT HE REALLY TRUSTED HER JUDGEMENT COMPLETELY.

THANKS FOR REMINDING ME OF ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS. IT MADE A DEEP IMPRESSION ON ME TOO.

NOW EEYORE'S ELBOWS
Hi, Carlene!

First off, congratulations on the new arrival — he is adorable!  The way he wore the collar up on his coat last nite reminded me of another fan of the stand-up collar — Elvis Presley.  The underbelly of mankind is all too often in the forefront of our existence.  How heartwarming it is to see the topside & realize that thanks to the efforts of kind, decent people Maybe & Snowball will live their lives as they deserve,  while bringing joy to people who desperately need bright spots in their days.

I’ve been following the saga of Eeyore’s elbows & listened with interest today to the discussion of inflamed bursa sacs in people, since I’d been thinking this to likely be his problem.  My next door neighbor had this happen to her decades ago.  Oftentimes it’s caused by too much pressure on a hard surface (think spending a bit too much time with an elbow propped on the bar at a local watering hole, for instance).  Her doctor drained the bursa, but it refilled much as a cyst would, since a simple slice in the wall could heal itself & restore the capsule to an intact state.  The doctor then removed the bursa & her elbow healed within a few weeks.  I changed the dressing on it several times a week for her — she called me Nurse Fletcher after a character in an old Johnny Carson skit.

If Eeyore were mine, I wouldn’t do anything unless infection developed, in which case antibiotics would hopefully remedy the problem.  The body wants to heal itself, & removing him from hard surfaces gives hope that in time the fluid will reabsorb on its own, since it will no longer be needed to protect the tips of his elbows.  It would seem the reabsorption process would be sufficiently slow enough, though, that progress would be visually apparent month to month rather than daily, since the action would resemble more what would occur when the contents of a cyst are being reabsorbed, instead of when fluid in a blister is disappearing.

The other side of the coin is my Mom going to an orthopedist with a Baker’s cyst behind her knee.  The doc said, “Oh, you mean this one,” while vigorously squeezing it.  His action caused a large jagged tear in the cyst wall, which wasn’t able to knit itself back together as a smooth scalpel cut would have been able to do, so the fluid rapidly drained & the cyst never returned.  I had a small Baker’s cyst behind one of my own knees several years ago & allowed it to disappear over time.

Minus an infection process it would seem  Eeyore stands an excellent chance of losing his “tennis ball elbows” without medical intervention.

Bless you, Carlene, along with your staff, for all you do!
