what? me worry?- i just got an email from the state of mass for meetings that were held yesterday and the day before--- this note that they were late in sending was to notify me/us that
Beginning April 1, 2019, MassDOT will undertake work on the Tobin Bridge/ Chelsea elevated curve ---Though they are safe to drive on, both are in critical need of repair. This wil efficiently eliminate 15% the structurally deficient bridge deck by 2021
i don't know how you feel about driving on a structurally deficient bridge- when they can't even get out the notice of the structural deficiency on time.
i worry about things like that...
route 95 goes from maine to florida- and crosses the merrimac river on 2 new bridges which were completed in 2018 after the bridge "lost" a structural element --- in 2010 !!!!
there was some notice to boat owners about a chunk of iron falling into the river... no one seemed to be concerned about how that chunk was afixed to the rest of the bridge and how may "afixers" were deficient??
since dr pol is not on as often, i am reduced to engineering disasters- last night scotland was on the docket... the massive cables holding the whole thing together were made up of thousands of twisted wires-- which had been twisted in th emerky mist of scottish weather- and were rotting... they used some fancy word for rotting...- happily the japanese folk had teh same problem and somehow covered teh cables and set up hair dryers to keep tehtiny litttle wires which made up those cables from breaking.
now don't you feel better abotu bridges?

there are some good stories there---
the curved ofice building in london which focused the curve on one spot- so at one certain minute of the day it melted all the plastic in some guy's jaguar.
teh occupied building at 601 lexington ave in new york was all set to blow over if the wind hit it in a certain direction...
it did not all start and end with the leaning tower of pisa...

rizz is all set to go with heidi-- they are a great pair-- and gave glowing reports of what a great teacher megan has been- heidi apparently wil rent a car today and drive back to dc area.. she works at teh dept of aggri-- so i hope rizz behaves herself !! she is a good dog.
so many of the people to whom we donate dogs, are first time dog owners-- or ever first time dane owners.. hiedi is from quarterhorse and greyhound experience-- and she fit in immediately with rizz-
i am thiniking--- some of these dogs we have made into pets, might have been ok if we had put them out with someone to whom the entire project was not a shock- granted there are geroge's and finn's the absolutely bombproof-- but maybe they don't all have to be quite so perfect... rizz does not like to have her butt sniffed.. wel heidi can easily cope with that malfunction.
