MARCH 24 2019

I CAN SWIM---NOT AS WELL AS MY SISTER  WHO SLITHERS THRU WATER... BUT I CAN SWIM..  I WAS A RED CROSS  WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR WHICH I GOT BY PROVING I COULD TIP A CANOE OVER THEN STANDING ON ONE END AND SHOVE  IT FORWARD TO EMPTY IT OF ABOUT 1/2 THE WATER SO I COULD GET BACK IN AND PADDLE TO SHORE...I CAN COPE WITH THAT--
WHAT I CAN NOT COPE WITH ARE THESE GREAT BIG FLOATING  HOTELS--AS OF THIS MORNING ONE OF THESE CRUISE SHIPS LOST 3 OF IT'S ENGINES IN SOME FJORD UP THERE IN TEH COLD WATERS OF FINLAND. SO WHILE TEH COMMERCIALS RUN  ADS OF PEOPLE SIPPING WINE AND SMILIMG, IN ACVTUAL FACT  WHAT IS SHOING NOW IS HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE IN THEIR SPANKING NEW ORANGE LIFE JACKETS TRYING TO HOLD UP THEIR FEET WHILE CONSIDERABLE WATER SLID TO THE LEFT-- THEN HESITATED AND SLID TO THE RIGHT... THEN LEFT... THEN RIGHT...THE HNDREDS OF THEM WERE WAITING  TO BE CLIPPED TO THE HELICOPTER HOOK SO THEY  COULD DANGLE WHILE IT LIFTED THEM 100 FEET UP INTO THE  WHIRLY BIRD.. IF THE STORM  THAT WAS CREATING THE 20 FOOT WAVES WASN'T ENOUGH OF A BREEZE. THE HELICOPTER-S BLADES MAKE A WHALE OF A DOWN DRAFT  IN ORDER FOR IT TO STAY ALOFT.--- TEH COPTER HOLDS 15 PEOPLE AT A TIME-- AND THIS FLOATING HOTEL HOLDS ONE HECK OF ALOT MORE  THAN THAT.
BY LAST ACCOUNT   THEY WERE CHEERFUL--- ONE ENGINE WAQS INDEED WORKING-- ONE OUT OF FOUR IS BETTER THAN NONE OUT OF FOUR-- SO THAT IS PROGRESS-- AND 2 TUGS WERE TRYING TO TURN THIS HOTEL AROUND AND KNUDGE IT TO SHORE-- LAST I KNEW TEH SHORE OF  THINGS LIKE FJORDS DOES NOT HAVE A WELCOME MAT EVERY 100 FEET...

I PUT CRUISE PEOPLE IN THE SAME CATAGORY AS PEOPLE WHO START UP MT EVEREST, GET IN TROUBLE AND OTHER PEOPLE HAV TO RISK LIFE AND LIMB TO RESCUE THEM.

WHEN WAS I LAST "AFLOAT"?    I WAS IN TEH ROWBOAT FOR A  CAMERA SHOT WE DID NOT USE FOR THE CALENDAR-  BEFORE THAT -- IT WAS 1988? WHEN I WENT FROM CONN TO LONG ISLAND TO GET A DANE BRED.  AND I SAT ON THE DECK THEN-- RIGHT BY THE LIFEBOAT...

WE HAD AN INTERESTING EMAIL FROM A BREEDER IN CHICAGO WANTING TO DONATE A PUP TO US...SHE SEEMS VERY INTERESTED IN SERVICE DOGS... SO I HAVE SUGGESTED SHE TRY AND DO THE TRAINING HERSELF AND SEE WHAT SHE CAN DO.
THE WOMAN FROM SASCATACHERON IS COMING IN JUNE TO TALK ABOUT HER PROJECT OF CEREBRAL PALSY AND SWISS MOUNTAIN DOGS. ( IT IS COLD THRE !!)

I AM TRYING TO GET BACK IN A BIT OF TRAINING... MOSTLY-- MY SECOND CUPPA COFFEE IS AT SOME STARBUCKS OR DUNKIN WHILE SOME DOG LEARNS  A DOWN STAY.-- HEY YOU DO WHAT YOU CAN !!

Dear Carlene,
Hope all is well. Pixie has been doing fabulous. She’s been working hard we get out and about keeping moving forward. I have to say this winter has been a rough one with many surgeries on my stomach but we didn’t let stop us from seeing the world around us. Pixie has stopped so many of my falls as my legs are weak cause my MS has been acting up with all the crazy weather and my lack to eat and keep down food all the time. I always feel so blessed cause I don’t know how I would do all the things I venture out to without her. She never has her eyes off me. I thank you so much for changing my life and all the hard work that all the staff that SDP does for people like me to help us to keep moving forward and to enjoy life as I do every day.
